Stanz Cafe was recommended to me by my very reliable friend Nancy and her husband. The breakfast is wonderful here. Food is always fresh, the staff is friendly and attentive. I love the calm vibe. I would have given 5 stars but it's hard to find a seat, which further explains how good they are and I wish they had Sunday brunch. Ordered the corned beef, egg on toast, which was a good, though a bit much for me in the morning. I thought the fruit was ok, though I would have preferred to have home fries with the dish. We also ordered the oatmeal, which was hearty and enough for two people. The atmosphere has a upscale cafe feel to it. My husband were looking for a nice breakfast place near New Rochelle and this popped up! It's definitely a cute place and very charming decor inside with exposed brick walls and huge windows. You put in your order at the front counter and seat yourself, and then... the food is supposed to come to you, POOF. In theory, that's a cute concept, but in reality, it was a little more complicated as the server gave our order to someone else, then when we asked what was taking so long we had to get our order again... but they got half of our order wrong! Ugh. I think that taking a number to put on your table would work better? The food was good, however - I got the breakfast tacos and they were flavorful and filling. My husband was supposed to get muffin with poached eggs and avocado but got something else with sausage that he enjoyed anyway. I happened upon this place while looking at properties in the area. They had a variety of great brunch options. The hummus toast with smoked salmon and eggs was delicious as well as the avocado toast (surprisingly different from others I've had with toasted sunflower seeds). The cheese and bacon grits, however, were my favorite. They also have a variety of artisan sparkling waters; I enjoyed the cucumber one. This place is definitely a neighborhood gem! read more

When my wife and I want to head to "the good brunch place," we go here. The food is super high quality, from the rustic bread (exceptionally crusty on the outside while still soft and tangy on the inside), to the expertly poached eggs, to the fresh fruit that comes on the side of many of their meals (always just ripe without being overripe). The atmosphere is quite nice. Post-Covid, they have a number of tables set up outside at appropriate distances. I was glad to see pretty much everyone (staff and patrons alike) following proper mask discipline. They also still allow coffee refills, but now the waiter or waitress fills your coffee for you. We always enjoy our meals here, whether breakfast or lunch. Timing is key, though. Should you arrive during a rush (there is often a rush - it's a hot spot!), you'll wait awhile for your food and a table. Order at the counter and take your # to the tables. There are a number of smaller tables around the perimeter and four 6-tops in the middle. Staff should stay on top of the seating situation a little more. I often see twos sitting at big tables when 2-tops are available and larger parties have to wait. Breakfast is ok but I really enjoy the lunches! We haven't had anything yet (for lunch) that I haven't enjoyed. A great local spot worth a visit. Just make sure you arrive "early" for breakfast and lunch! read more

Stanz, Larchmont, NY I used to work nearby and I've heard a lot wonderful things about the food and read all the reviews but was never able to try it myself. My boss said she was going to pick up lunch and raved about their omelets. Searching for a menu for Stanz is like searching for the Holy Grail. My boss came back with my food. At her suggestion, I got the corn omelet (with a side order of bacon). I gave her $20 and she handed back to me $1.80 as my change. The food was at best meh and certainly not worth the $$$$$ spent. When I make an omelet I mix the ingredients (other than cheese) in with the egg and wrap the egg around the cheese. The "omelet" I received the egg was cooked in crepe fashion and the veggies and cheese were "wrapped" with egg like a burrito. NOT AN OMELET in my humble opinion. Sorry I don't see what all the rave is about this place!!! Never been so disappointed by a restaurant after hearing such "great" things. read more

This is definitely my favorite place for a healthy lunch in Westchester! They have a huge selection of salads, sandwiches, fresh fruit juice, and omelettes. Although they have a seating area, the large wooden tables do take up a lot of space and as a result there's less seating than what you would expect. In the dining room they have a self serve coffee station that you can help yourself to if you have ordered coffee. They offer complimentary water (and fruit infused water) which you can help yourself to as well. The line to order goes quick and then you wait in the dining room and get the food brought to you (surprisingly they have never messed up my order lol). Everything I have tried is delicious and fresh- but my favorite is the cafe salad with chicken! read more

Good food. Nice place. Decor is very rustic farm-ish. Wooden tables, self serve coffee, outdoor seating available. French toast is rich and yet pillowy. Rustic, well balanced, hints of cinnamon, not too eggy. Not a french toast person but I'd gladly order this. 9.3/10 Greek yogurt w/ granola + fruit: The yogurt is real Greek yogurt, exceptionally thick and almost unbelievably creamy. It's incredible. The granola is homemade and rustic (sensing a pattern??), with pistachios, dried fruit, and oats. The texture of the oats, the hint of honey and the pistachios work very well together, and dried blueberries add some very nice contrast. With the yogurt, the granola, and a mix of fruit (I got banana · blackberry · strawberry, though I suspect this might be seasonal), the dish is surprisingly filling and complex. Lots going on here and it's delicious. I gotta say though, the yogurt is so rich I couldn't finish it. 9.6/10 Potatoes: Breakfast potatoes. Unexpectedly, mixed in with chunks of sweet potato. Both charred and crispy, though the potatoes are fluffy and the sweet potatoes creamy by nature. The whole dish is, say it with me, rustic. As I said. Good food. Nothing groundbreaking. This is my new go to for brunch. The menu is excellent with various breakfast and creative sandwich choices. You can select which bread you want. I had tuna, provolone, tomatoe, basil, balsamic on a French baguette. Very good but it may better hot. The staff were pleasant and seemed to enjoy working there. They have a self serve coffee bar. I agree with the other reviews the service staff do not know how to treat customers. We came in with children and had to take a seat with the child as he was too young to sit down while the others went to order food. The server came over to say "never do that again as you have to wait in the line first to order food before you are allowed to sit". The guy was completely abrasive (as per other reviews) and the rule is not very practical. The business should relax a bit and not enforce the dictatorship type rules as folks are going to pay and order food, especially when children are involved. Cute idea for a restaurant! You order the food, then get seated. I ordered french toast and my company ordered a chicken sandwich. We were told they served the best french toast, and that was the reason for coming. Wasn't prepared to seat ourselves. While paying for our order, a customer at the back of the line ran to a table as it opened up and stuck her bag there...the staff saw and said nothing. We ended up getting 2 seats at a counter (would have much preferred a table). It took over an hour for our food to come to us, and when it did, the french toast was overcooked and rather bland. My company said the sandwich was good, however. Staff was less than friendly and presented an "okay" experience. I'm surprised by some of the reviews on here about slow and/or rude service. I've always found the employees to be super nice and I have never waited longer than 15/20 minutes for my food (even at peak times). The food is always super fresh and delicious and I also love the hot chocolate. It's a go to spot for my family and me. I stopped by Stanz around 2:00 on a Monday and got a cup of oatmeal and a cappuccino to go. I decided to try it out after reading in Westchester magazine that this is the best oatmeal in the county, which I believe after trying it. (Slow cooked, creamy, and delicious.) I was only sad not to stay, because on a quiet afternoon, Stanz has a great atmosphere. There's a wooden bar where single patrons can eat or drink their coffee with a book, and cozy tables where, even during quiet hours, people sit down to eat together after placing an order at the counter. The menu looks fantastic-- a long list of well thought out sandwich combos and gourmet omelets, not to mention whole wheat french toast and pancakes with fresh fruit, and bagels. For a snack to go, which I love just for its name, you can order "Banana, Bread, and Chocolate," which is Nutella spread over fresh bread with sliced bananas. They also offer unique and hearty salads, cupcakes from Rye's Cupcake 350, and much more. Sandwiches are HUGE if you order them on a baguette (and you should) and the two I've tried--chicken cutlet with artichoke hearts, shaved Parmesan, and vinaigrette and the maple turkey, goat cheese, apple slices, arugula, and honey dijon--were truly delicious.
