Called and made the appointment for a contact priscription, once I arrived and showed up they tried to hard sell me on glasses stating my insurance only covered glasses when I'm covered for both. They were clearly trying to push glasses only for monetary gain through my insurance. I was even thinking about getting glasses in addition to the contacts I needed. Stanton Optical is not in network with Tricare. Prior to my visit, I contacted the store to confirm coverage and potential copayments. Unfortunately, I was advised that this information could only be confirmed in person after scheduling an appointment and presenting my insurance card. Upon arriving, I was immediately informed that Tricare is not accepted and that the copay would be $25 with the purchase of glasses. They could not find our reservation to start with... Then we found out that they did not make the glasses on premises because they are in a temporary location, but their website was not updated to rebuild that which is why we came there. First you see an eye tech, who honestly was probably the most competent employee in the place... But then you get taken to a separate room for a virtual eye exam with a doctor that is very rude and ugly to my daughter. They run specials but they are just to get you in there because I don't know how many glasses are covered under that special but only if you get the ones with the purple dot, which are ones that no one will want ( I'm sure it is based on supply and demand )... after being there for an hour and 15 minutes we finally got our exam and decided to get out of there and cut our losses... I just hope that eye exam is correct. Keep in mind that they estimate 20 minutes for the eye exam and we walked in five minutes before our appointment time so, suffice it to say it was nowhere near that. read more

My regular eye doctor passed away so it was necessary to find a new doctor. I chose Stanton Optical because it was close and they could get me in quickly. Everything was "normal" until I went into the room to get my eyes examined. There was no doctor....well...not one physically in the room with me. The doctor was on a tv screen in front of me. The machine that adjusted the lenses was automatic. The appointment went well and I got my prescription, but it felt very impersonal. I honestly don't know if I'll go back. Had I known that there was no actual doctor present, I'm not certain I would've chosen Stanton. We are slowly becoming a society that is losing touch with one another and I don't like it. If that's ok with you, so be it. I'll likely be going elsewhere next year. read more

Customer service was terrible and i didn't even go in for my appointment, i only spoke to someone on the phone due to reading all of these reviews after booking an appointment. I called and they admitted to not having an optometrist on site and only virtually & said they couldn't promise the deals online. Please please read the reviews before booking with this place. I took my wife there for a routine eye exam and it did not go well. The doctors do the exam remotely (not in the office). They seem to be foreign and with this exam, incompetent. She went through the exam twice and neither time was able to get a new prescription. They suggested to come back next week and see a live doctor. First issue was that I didn't want a remote vision test I was not okay with that. secondly and much more importantly they wouldn't write me a prescription and instead told me to go drive to another place with my "vision that is bad for us to weite you a prescription at this time." The only reason this place even crossed my mind is you are supposed to be able to get your prescription and glasses all in one day, and now they have apparently stopped having actual doctors in house and are refusing to actually write prescriptions. read more

I was greeted nicely at this busy location, and was asked if I needed any help, and I said I saw the poster for 2/$59, and she lead me to the area. The frames looked outdated. There were less than 10 unique frames to choose from. I tried on the non-promotional frames, and put them back where I got them. A lady came after me and said to put the ones I touched down on the counter. I also was asked to take a temperature check. They had a great selection, and their prices for a complete set of glasses are really good. The staff wore masks during Lockdown. All my questions were answered. I have been in numerous eye glass places, but I have never seen one as rinky-dink and cheap as this location. I made an appointment on-line and filled out the required paperwork online, but when I got to the store prior to my appointment, they had NO record of my efforts last night. Also, they failed to mention that there was no optometrist to give me a prescription. It was Tele-medicine. How ridiculous. So I jump through all the hoops, and am in the process of selecting my frames for the order when the manager walks up to me and says, sorry for the inconvenience, but we cannot write you a prescription because yours requires prism, and only the Optometrist on Wednesday can do that. This is Tuesday, I have driven in from Temple (30 minutes away) for this appointment.. I wasn't coming back. So be careful of that fast talking penguin, he's not being truthful with you. Stanton Optical will never have my business and I will tell everyone to avoid it like the plague. read more

I don't understand how the staff or why the staff didn't inform us before we started browsing just told us the whole wall was available with what we was going for and I just felt it was a complete waste of time. My experience with Stanton Optical was super fast and easy. The remote Drs that conduct the exams are very unusual in a good way. There is no contact with your Dr who's giving the exam as it's done remotely through a monitor, but they can willingly answer any questions you may have pertaining to your eye exam. It's the newest way to get an eye exam and it's a very interesting experience. I got a contact lens prescription through them and they gave me a pair of lenses to last me until I received my new supply of disposable daily lenses delivered conveniently to my home. They even included a travel cleaner and storage set that lasted me until my new lenses arrived. Highly recommended and very affordable for brand name contact lenses that originally were costing me quite a bit more from a competitor. The staff members are very friendly and they are willing to help you any way possible. I found my experience very helpful and I would recommend them to anyone who needs a new contact prescription. I have not had glasses made here, but I would suspect that they are equally as effective handling eye glasses as well. read more

Purchased 4 pairs of glasses plus sunglasses One frame broke shortly which was under warranty and it was replaced,but 4 month later it broke again. Company would not replace it and wanted me to buy the frame for full price. I told them that I will take my business somewhere else and they seemed not to care. I am done with that business I was offered to call customer service which I did and customer service was just as worthless or even worse than than the store. Nothing is resolved and I am taking my business elsewhere!! It was a waste of time. read more

30 Days, that's right I was told 30 days to get my glasses. I tried to get a refund and they charged me again. After 4 phone calls to customer service and 6 calls directly to the store, I got a partial refund. I have been to other Stanton optical locations and this is a poor reproduction. I went for the great deal... i got the opposite. 65$ turned into $800 because they claimed that i needed trifocal lens. I went with it at the time. Problem is i cant see at all from my lenses and the antiscratch is a joke or i didn't get what i paid for. My biggest problem is the "virtual eye dr." I am now wearing my old lenses which perform better. Qould be a one star review....but the proprietor and staff were extremely friendly and professional for we hat they had to qork with... maybe my experience was a rare occurance.... if you go here for the "deal" request an onsite exam and double check qhat lenses and treatments you are getting. Front end staff needs work. The person at the front desk refused to look at me when asking me "what do you want?". When I told her I needed an eye exam she waved her hand towards the back and said something along the lines of its back there sign the clipboard. The lady in the back is the only redeeming value to this place. She is polite, professional, and friendly. This place would be good if they got their front end in line. As I'm writing this I received a call from Shari stating she was the one who was up front and she had never gotten a complaint before and if I had a problem I could contact her corporate. Horrendous experience! They set up an appointment for eye exam but the doctor did not give me the correct prescription and then they gave me the wrong contact lenses, so I have to come back to get a proper pair of contacts and it worked fine. However, the contact supply they gave me for 6 months is horrendous, it causes irritation and redness. I really regret spending money here! read more

first time going to Stanton optical in Killeen, Texas as my husband and i were going to different optical stores comparing options for eyeglasses for me and prices. we were met by Valentina who was friendly and extremely helpful by answering our questions, providing various options for eyeglasses and various plans. in the end we were satisfied with the entire experience. i should get my new eyewear in couple of weeks. looking forward to coming back. i did not however, get an eye exam as i have a special opthalmologist for that. but thank you ever so much Valentina for your help, the information you provided, and making a new initial experience the best i've had in a long time. read more

Was NOT pleased with their insurance. They miss entered my prescription. They first handed me a pair of glasses where the bifocals were misaligned. That means that neither them nor their lab took even a cursory look at the lenses before presenting them to me, the customer. By the third pass, they admitted that they couldn't fill a prescription as written by my surgeon/ophthalmologist. They also didn't use the insurance I wanted them to use, they had applied to one of my other insurers that had a larger copay because they weren't authorized to use my primary. On my third pass, I got my money back and went someplace else. It was NOT a pleasant or respectful experience. I'll NEVER go there again. read more

I was a really a little worried about the virtual visit, but it was great. I interacted with the doctor the same as if he were in the room. I walked in for an adjustment for my current frames, the first person who waited on me said my glasses were to fancy for her to touch, another girl was about to send me on my way when an technician from the back overheard us and came out to help ( I didn't catch her name, but she personally deserves 5), she corrected the problem and turned be back over to the original employee. I wanted to purchase a cleaning kit and was asked for the phone number on my account, I informed her I had never been there before, she said "oh I'm not sure how to do that, let me ask my manager", she returned and informed me that she would have to open a complete new customer file for me to purchase that little cleaning kit, but her manager said to let me know they sell them at the dollar store! REALLY???? I am HERE now and you have the kit in your hand- but you want me to go to the dollar store because you can't do a cash sale without my info, and YOU don't wanna take the time to enter my info?? My (attempted) purchase may not have been very large, but I am due for my eye exam next month- and a new set of glasses, I know where I will not be going. read more

I am a department manager for a fairly large grocery chain. I deal with an fairly large customer count every day. I believe in quality customer service and I try to greet and talk with as many customers as possible during the course of my 9 hour work shift. I do this 6 days a week. My place of business is off of the interstate and we see a lot of different people come through, along with our regulars.  I have talked with people from all over this state and all over the country.  Some of them stop just to say hi if they are traveling through my area. Without fail, each and every person I speak with for the next few months is going to notice I am wearing eye glasses because I haven't been before. I have every intention on telling them exactly where I got these glasses and how horrible my experience was. The last complaint I have is a pretty major one. I was told I was getting bi-focals. No problem. I knew what to expect. But seeing as how it was Stanton Optical, I got tri-focals. From day one, I should have gotten up and walked away. I will tell my story to as many people as will listen. I don't know if this is a virus that has eaten away at the very core of your company or if it's centralized to just this one store, but you have a serious problem.  My next step is the B.B.B.  Then social media. I have no interest in suing you for sucking at your job and I don't have millions of followers but if I can keep just a few people from patronizing your establishment,  I will feel successful.  I will now have to visit another optometrists and have the whole process repeated just to be able to see correctly.  You have been a waste of money and a waste of time. There is no physical doctor present. He operates through a webcam. Definitely a surprise there. The girls that were working the day I came in were very unprofessional. Gossiping about another employee, worried about their cell phones and just not great customer service in general. My prescription was correct but nobody called when my contacts and glasses were ready even though they said they would. Will not be using this company in the future. read more

I purchased some glasses here and when I put them on, I would see at a slant. After I explained this to them, they told me they will not refund me, or cancel my insurance claim. Also, I am not 100% but I believe the front employees are paid on commission, because after I declined a second pair of glasses, the customer service became terrible. I'll never recommend this place. I have been wearing glasses and contacts for over 50 years and this was without exception the WORST experience I have had. As the other reviewers mentioned the exam is done remotely using a video camera and you are not even permitted to speak to the person doing the exam. I tried to ask a question and was told that is not allowed. The video person disconnected without a word and one of the ladies there came in and said I was done. I tried to tell her that I had not seen clearly yet. She dismissed it saying they would address it later. I was then sent to pick out lenses and let them know when I was finished. They then redid the exam and it was a little better. I got my glasses and they were ok. I have good insurance but 2 weeks later I got a bill for the whole cost of my glasses. When I called they said it was a mistake and to disregard but I got the feeling that they send these out hoping people will pay in addition to the insurance. STAY AWAY!! read more

I got glasses for less than half of what I paid for my last pair elsewhere. The lenses are great and I have very bad eyes and astigmatism and got the thin lenses and the stuff that gets dark in the Sun. Yes the lenses are great but the frames are cheap and have broken twice. You just can't get quality frames there. My husband got 2 pair and has now been waiting over 6 weeks for a replacement for a broken frame. Very little communication. very unknowledgeable as every time I call they spend 20 minutes on the phone trying to find my order. And they never call me back. If I go back I would buy my frames elsewhere and just have the lenses put in there. To sum it up : Cheap crappy frames, unknowledgeable personnel, Extremely poor communication and very slow repair times. At least the workers are nice read more
