I'd give this place Zero star if possible. They have a decent selection of frames and reasonably priced that I was able to check out yesterday so I made an eye exam appointment. Yes, I need glasses so why not? I was surprised we (hubs and I) got a next day appointment. Today we got there 30 minutes early, figuring we had paperwork to fill out (we did) and waited. My other half had questions that the employee didn't answer she said the next person would. Hmmmm For forty five minutes past my Husband's appointment and noone was back with us and other patients checking in folks, bad sign. Finally one patient came out and another employee also. Two of us waiting there waited so we could ask how muck longer. The gentleman ahead of us was mad and canceled his appointment. While the employee (male) said he understood our concern but honestly didn't sound genuine. After some prodding/questioning he finally told me that they got a new machine that they were using today for pre-tests and they were behind. Sure, but at least let the folks checking in know your really far behind. That's only fair. I mean we all have other things to do besides waiting in an office for over an hour for an eye exam. I know they have frames and lenses to sell but I missed another appointment waiting for them to come back to the desk. The other employees in the showroom where too busy to help and just referred me back to the other area. I just packed up my stuff and told him cancel both our appointments. Have a real MD doing the exam, not some AI person. I ordered 2 pairs. One with regular lens, and second with sunglass lens. I waited two weeks for the glasses. They didn't have me try them on while I was there. The sunglasses were fine. The regular glasses were completely blurry. They told me they would keep the glasses and issue me a refund in 10 days. I had her get the manager who was nothing condescending and a smart mouth who talked over me. I told her I'm not leaving the glasses and wait 10 days for a refund. She started to argue with me that both glasses were exactly the same lenses. I said try them on and you will see they are two different prescriptions. She kept cutting me off. I told her I was going online to report the whole incident, and that I had read all the horrible reviews and people suing them. The whole thing is a scam. I wondered why this place had only 1.5 stars. I'm giving it one star because there isn't an option for no stars. Every promo they offer is simply bait to get people into the store. The $99 promo I went in to get ended up being $389.00 for a contact lens prescription! After going through a very high pressure sales pitch, i paid $150 and I left with a trial set of contacts that aren't the right strength. I went back and after going through another full exam I still don't have a good prescription. I watched two other people go through incredible up sales that they couldn't afford. Went to Santa Maria store in 2018 for my first glasses and new lens in 2022. The service was good, happy with my glasses/service, same people working there(NO DEI). I went in 3 weeks ago for new glasses/frames to find out that DEI has destroyed the business and had to WAIT for exam with an appointment and then wait 11 days for the glasses. Went to pick them up and they just said here ya go, didnt ask me to try them for fit and function which I did myself and the prescription was WAY OFF, guy giving exam on tv screen was DEI. My left eye didnt change, 3.25 but they said my right eye had changed, from 3.25 to 4.50(HUGH change)....I told the girl that I see the same with both eyes with my old glasses but she seemed to care less and told me to try them for 5 days so my eye would conform to the prescription. A REAL Doctor told me that wearing a bad prescription would ruin my eye and the prescription should conform to my eye not the other way around. I returned them today and the girl was rude, wanted me to WAIT for something that should have taken less the 2 minutes for their F up. They should have know Id be back to just use my old prescription and redo them. Now Im WAITING for who knows how long for my new glasses/frames, dont know if I could have better vision because they are the fast food of optometry and the prescription for both eyes could be totally wrong....They had better be PERFECT or Im getting my $682 back and going to a REAL Doctor...I will never go back to Stanton again, their service sucks due to DEI and they F ed up everything SO bad and a lack of really caring, the fake that pretty good....If you have time and gas and vision to waste, this is your place....SO disappointed that they let DEI ruin everything it touchs read more

Unbelievably bad service. I made the mistake of not reading the reviews before getting an eye exam here. I live in a remote location, so purchasing contacts from 1-800-Contacts has been the best way to receive my lenses in a timely manner. Stanton refuses to respond to prescription requests from 1-800-Contacts, so I am stuck with either waiting for a long time and having to drive 45 minutes to pick them up, or pay for yet another exam from another optical who will actually do their job. This afternoon I stopped by Stanton optical for the very first time never been there before for anything. I went to the one on Louisiana because my lenses had broke Stanton optical was the only place this afternoon that accepted a walk-in with no appointments I called first and someone over the phone told me 2:30 PM. I went in at 2pm thinking well if I get there early, maybe they'll see me early I was there for three hours. I did not leave the store until 5 o'clock, by 3:30 I was ready to leave walk out go home. They finally called my name did my eye exam and then after that within a few minutes a gentleman by the name of Brian Smith asked me what can he do to help me so I told him I'm looking for some frames but I did not want to spend a lot of money. I don't have a lot, I told him how long I've been at the store he was so nice and apologetic. He told me they were full of appointments and that they were busier than they had expected. They were a little short staffed, but he told me that's no reason why I was there for all this time anyway, he took the time to show me some frames took the time of explaining my bill and all of a sudden I was no longer upset that I was in the store for 3 hours instead, I walked out of the place very, very happy and a satisfied customer, Brian knows what he's doing and you can see that he loves doing what he does he could not have been more nice towards me. Staff member Alex Sanchez was extremely rude, patronizing and had extremely poor social skills. In fact it he had "social kills" He interrupted me rudely while I was explaining my situation stating " I am trying to look up your account." meaning on the computer. He cut me off while I was talking and then became patronizing after I told him everyone else had gone above and beyond. Everyone other staff member was able to multitask. How Ironic is that. He didn't even try to put my lense back in or fix the arm of the glasses which had been done at that location before. They rush and get you in and out like an assembly line. They don't make note of what your old prescription is and what you want. When they write the wrong prescription, they tell you your eyes have changed, when they haven't. They want you to come back again to see a live optometrist so they can spend time and get it right. The optometrist is supposed to 'fit' your lenses and make sure they are correct and you have no problems. They don't do this. Very unorganized an unprofessional. These are your eyes you are trusting them with. Don't! I went in for an eye exam and new contacts. They used a remote optometrist. The had to order my sample lenses, and when they came in, they just handed them to me. They did not have me put them in at the store to check the fitting. I got home and put them in and I could not read with them. My previous script was 'multifocal for left eye and 'regular' for right. They gave me a multi focal for the right and an astigmatism lens for the left. I went back and told them of the problem and they said my eyes have changed. I told them I put my old lenses back in and can see fine at distance and reading. They made me an appointment to see an actual optometrist so "the exam isn't rushed". One pair was ruined by the optician and they tried to find another pair of the frames in another store. Noone ever got back to me and they don't answer their phones. I went in and they put the lenses in the wrong frames. The customer standing next to me had the same problem! If i could give this place NEGATIVE 5 stars I would! DON'T EVER GO HERE!!!!!! They don't care about the customer and only want as much money as they can suck out of you! This is absolutely hands down the worst business practice that I have every walked into. I go in to get glasses, feel like the exam was anything but thorough but also assumed an optometrist could do their job right. To my disbelief they could not! they say you get this great deal and that you get glasses for 50 bucks. By the end of the trip the bill was close to $600! To top it off I am told i have to wait two weeks until they get the glasses back in. 2 weeks comes and goes, then a month, then finally they have my glasses after about 6 weeks. When i put them on i instantly said these will not work. I felt like i had drunk vision because they prescribed me Bifocals! as a 25 year old! When i told the employee i didn't think they were correct he said to just take them and wear them a few days that my eyes would adjust! Well they didn't! and when i went back to make them fix there BS mistakes it took another 3 months to finally get the glasses that still were not optimal for me! but at that point I was just done with them. My Girlfriend didn't listen to my advice to not ever go there, and she went in for contacts. She had a vacation coming up and they told her no problem that the contacts would be in before she left. That was 3 weeks in advance and they told her it would only take 2 weeks. Well the trip came and went and she did not have her contacts. Another 3 FREAKING months went by before she finally got her contacts in. They up-sale you at every possible point they can, especially when it comes to the actual lenses. Order for replacement lenses with a warranty clam took over a month to complete after being promised in two weeks. The posted store hours online and on the store front says open 9 AM. Got here around 9:15 AM Store is locked. Spoke to an employee who made it abundantly clear that that she was not clocked in terse shrill protest of my asking when do you expect that the store might open. Came to learn that there were 4 Covid cases here at this store. This is my third trip here from Santa Fe. About 55 min 65 miles travel on way. I would stay the heck away from this circus. It is not worth the aggravation or severe risk to personal well being. Currently waiting in the parking lot for the store to open. Still have no lenses. Do I start with the good or the bad first? In short, Good: same day appointments and some friendly staff members. Bad: dirty, rude optometrist, broken glasses, reaaaalllyyy sales focused and if you don't want to buy anything they don't like you. Longer: I was really happy to make a same day contact exam appointment since most contact appointments here are weeks out. I showed up right on time and was seen and done within an hour which was nice. Stanton was quite filthy. The waiting room was like a doctors office and the girl that checked my corneas and glaucoma levels barely wiped the machine that my face had to touch. In the exam room (where I put my new contacts on) there was no hand soap, I had to open the bottle to get it out. The optometrist wrote me a quick prescription (barely legible) and told me to come back for a "follow up". When I went back out, the girl didn't know what I was supposed to do next so she tried to set me up to buy glasses. I was alright looking at them for a moment because I wanted to see what they had anyways. When my sales person (she set me up with) finally got around to me, he asked how many contacts I wanted to buy and I repeatedly (like 3 times) told him none, and that I still needed a follow up appointment. After, he reluctantly set me up an appointment he didn't want anything to do with me. And so I left as fast and I possible could. Needless to say, I won't be going back for a follow up. And I would rather not have to go here ever again. read more

He also said he was the manager then later on I found out he was it. When I told him we weren't getting very good customer service he told me well I am the only one here. I said that's not my fault we had appointments and if you were the manager you would've brought more people in. When I told him we was not going to buy anything he told me I would have to be charged for the testing. I didn't have a problem with that but he didn't want to give me the paperwork before I paid. I was in dire need of contacts and eyeglasses. I visited this store on 09/15/22 and paid $1800 for two pairs of glasses and year of contact lenses. I was told my ordered would be shipped to my home within 7 days (yes, I paid EXTRA for shipping). Today is 10/25/22 and I still have not received my contacts. I received my eyeglasses WITHOUT the coatings I paid for. Now, the store will not answer the phone or respond to emails. The customer service center in Florida refuses to do anything. I cannot get replacements or a refund. So, if you're looking to pay nearly $2000 and receive absolutely NOTHING in return then this is the eye clinic for you! I guess the next thing to do is drive to the store, which is 200 miles away from my home, call the police, file a police report, and loiter outside the front door until I either receive my products (correctly) or a refund. I have to have eyeglasses and contact lenses to see to live, drive, work, care for my children. Guess none of that matters once they take your money. Nice. I took a pair of eyeglasses in for warranty repair/replacement on the 27th of January. I was promised that i would get a return in 10 days. I waited 12 days and I still did not have my glasses. I have gone in 2 other times and was told that the weather across the mid-section of the US caused a delay in getting the product back. I went in on February 24, I was told my glasses would be ready on the 27th of February. However, I waited until the 3rd of March to go and pick up my glasses. I waited for almost 30 minutes for them to find glasses and to be re-asked the same questions. After they found ny glasses on one of the tech's desk, they asked me to come back later or they would call me and let me know the glasses would be ready. Its' 1:48 in the morning---I have not received a call nor text from the Albuquerque . Let me add, the frames for the glasses never warranted a tracking ticket or wait for the repair---the frames were always in the store. I did bring my lens in for the new repair. No optometrist on site. It's all done remotely. No one to dilate your eyes (which allows for them to see if your retina has any issues). No sunglasses in the store. Sunglasses are the expensive glasses so they just don't even offer them. Just a bunch of crappy generic regular glasses. Better off getting an exam from an actual optometrist (WalMart has qualified folks on staff and for a decent price). And then just get your glasses from Zenni online for 1/4 of the "bargain" price at Stanton. Plus, after I made my appointment with them I got multiple phone calls per day to remind me, which was annoying. Walked out after two minutes. Worthless waste of my time. read more

Coming back complaining my vision was still blurry and they were the wrong lenses. I was asked if I had gone to see an eye doc. Asking why, I was told I should have been sent to see one and was not. But they had happily cut the wrong lens and took my money and the insurance money anyways. I was then told they would recut the correct lenses for free after I got back from the doctors. Found out I had cataracts and needed surgery. I got that done and went back. I was told it was going to be $622 to get the lenses I had wanted, but the manager would give me 50% off. My insurance will not cover it for 3 years. So i dealing with eye strain and headaches!! Warning: They are reluctant to give out receipts, don't honor their work or promises to correct it. Read review to understand: I am not blaming anyone who works at this location of Stanton Optical or for that company in general but let me break it down for this location: 1.There is no true 'Doctor' on the premises: AKA they may have a M.D (Medical Doctrines) on site but no O.D. (Optometrist Doctrines [Doctors that look at 'eyes' and not just study anatomy]) on premise. 2. OR if they do have a 'Dr' in this store I doubt they take patients and actually exam them correctly. The 'Dr's" you do get are over web-cam service (Which seems very fancy but causes a lot of flaws and a lot of issues that a REAL doctor could fix instantly). 3. They will have no issue CHARGING YOU AND MAKING YOU PAY after giving you a WRONG assessments and inaccurate prescriptions both medical (True eye disease) and just for sight ("I just need a new prescription!")! 4. My personal feelings: Grew up here in Albuquerque and was used to us being 'cheaper' than the rest of the country and although in general I hope that cheap optometrist can happen, if it's too good to be true it's probably not - especially with this place ... 5. (The real *sheet*) As someone who never purchased glasses from them maybe with the right prescription from a real O.D. you can get cheap glasses but that is not what this review is about as I went in to check my eyes for a NEW prescription which I can say is a SCAM SCAM SCAM as of now. 6. The staff was really nice overall during the first part of my visit. I like the idea of having the virtual visit but the entire visit felt rushed and I did not feel like I could ask any questions during the eye exam fitting. Once it was over, the doctor signed out of the virtual meeting without asking me any questions or saying anything. Then I sat there alone for 10 minutes until a second doctor came on the screen and asked me if I was someone completely different. After that everything was downhill. The staff was rushed. Didn't answer any of my questions. I had to request to be able to try on my contacts. No information was given about the contacts or my prescription. I was told I would have to come back to order my contacts. And that was it. I appreciate the low cost and appreciate being able to get an appointment so quickly. but in the future, I would pay more and wait longer for a better visit. read more
