VisionWorks owners have decided to automate their scheduling using some sort of (irritating) computer voice that doesn't understand what you say. It recommended an open time for an appointment and I took it only for the computer to tell me that it was taken. I tried again and it recommended the same date and time before telling me it wasn't available AGAIN. This system is not ready for prime time and it has earned a big thumbs down from me. I'm never coming back to VisionWorks again because of this clunky system that is not ready to be thrust on the public. What business uses a badly designed AI to schedule appointments? Dr. Was very friendly and through. She made sure my prescription was as accurate as possible. However I did order contacts through them and even thought I knew I had to order them because it's not a common prescription I was never told it would be this long of a wait. On the first day of our vacation in New Mexico, the right nose piece on my eyeglasses fell out in our hotel room. We found the local Visionworks online and drove there immediately. Made an appointment. After them saying they had no appointments I found one the next day online. I called to be sure insurance was covered. My insurance covers my entire eye exam but they tried to tell me I had to pay the taxes. What a scam. read more

Was very disappointed. I took my son go to get some frames on a Saturday. Two employees were working. As soon as we entered we were asked if the both of us were going to purchase or look for frames. We told them it was only my son. She proceeded to give us a small tray to put the tried on glasses in. She said we were only allowed to try on what would fit in the tray. I left it alone thinking I didn't hear right. So a few minutes went by and I asked her what she meant by fitting all the glasses that my son tries on in the tray. She said he is limited. I asked why would he be limited to the amount of glasses he tries on? She said because people go in and try 30 pairs of glasses then don't end up buying anything. Wow. My son was so gracious and was trying hard not to touch any frame unless he was absolutely sure he wanted to try on. He placed about 4-5 pairs in the tray. Days prior we had been at Costco and found some that were a possibility. I showed him a picture of himself with those pair on from Costco and he decided he liked those better at Costco. After I showed him the picture we decided to go back to Costco and purchase those pair. I told the ladies that we made a decision as to glasses and one said okay which ones? I said actually they aren't here; they are elsewhere. Haha. I understand Covid and all but we ALL HAVE HAD TO ADAPT. That is what you have to do when you run a business. Besides NO ONE was in the store besides us. They looked pretty bored. However they didn't seem to want to be bothered with cleaning glasses that patrons try on . Not going back! I had a previous bad experience in San Marcos TX Visionworks when I picked up my new glasses last month and the woman wouldn't even sit down to adjust them when I told her they were crooked. They use to be called Eye Masters, but are now called Vision Works. They are location near Old Navy. I first went here for an eye exam back in early March. I was frustrated that I had to wait over 1 hour and 15 minutes to see the doctor. I can understand running late so I decided to stay positive about the place. While I was waiting, the person up front ran a few exams on me. I assumed all were covered by my insurance was was lead to believe that, which was wrong. I had to pay extra for one of the exams. Once I was seen by Dr. Sandoval, he seemed rushed and a little short. This made sense to me because he was running behind schedule. He seemed focused on business and professional. I am happy with the contact lens her prescribed for me. I was also happy to receive a free sample to try them out. Little did I know that I had to pay close to $60 for a contact lens fitting fee and the extra eye exam. So the free samples, weren't really that free. They have a optical store connected to their clinic, and I purchased a new pair of glasses there. Once again I had to wait. The person helping me told me there was a scheduling mistake. I wasn't surprised. The sales person was very helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. I picked up my new glasses and they seem just fine. The store has a good selection and a range of prices for their frames. As a picked up my glasses today, I also stopped by to pick up my contact lens prescription. The person working up front spent close to 10 minutes looking for it. Once she finally found my file, she discovered that the prescription was never finalized. She asked if someone called me. Yes they did over 3 weeks ago. Needless to say I found myself waiting again for her to talk to the doctor to sign my prescription. I told her I was frustrated and her reply was what do you want me to do about it. She did offer to fax or mail me the prescription, but for some strange reason I was skeptical I would ever receive it. All in all, I did see the doctor and got my prescription for contacts and new glasses. Will I come back here...umm not sure. I would visit their optical store again. It seems like a place that has potential to be great, but they need some help with organization, managing, and scheduling. We like our glasses. I understand that during this pandemic crisis they're limiting who is allowed in the store. I find it really frustrating when I try to call to come by and get my glasses adjusted and only speak to a recording. The recording doesn't seem to accept my phone when I press 1 to be connected. On behalf of my friend, I'm giving 1 star when really no star is deserved. First and foremost she has diabetes so her eyesight is a serious issue, after seeing the eye dr - the dr himself told whoever was sitting at the desk she need to get her glasses ASAP. The guy at the desk then proceeded to tell her he couldn't show her any frames because they were closed.... Seriously?? If the customer is in the store and just got done with her eye exam are you really going to make her schedule another appointment for frames? Two days she had to wait to go pick out her frames. Finally when she was paying for her new frames she asked if she could leave her current glasses that she wears constantly when she picks up her new ones to get her lens replaced. SHE WAS TOLD NO, SHE HAD TO LEAVE THEM AT THAT MOMENT!!! That's right, they sent her out into the world without anything knowing she couldn't see. I'm so disappointed that she was treated this way. Dr. Hands was thorough, yet concise and didn't require a yearly contact fitting for contact refills as my contacts have been working well for me. Speaking only to the optometrist at this location, Dr. Jerry Sandoval. First time I met him he was professional, but quick to get started and short with answers. After I got over the fact he wants nothing to do with chit-chat, I was ok with him because he's a perfectionist and wants to get your eye-sight right. I'm a very social, warm person so I'd never normally keep seeing him, but I like how serious he takes his work. People who complain about wait times, get over it. Normally I am not one to write reviews, but my recent experience with the staff at Visionworks should be mentioned. I had a new prescription but did not need two new frames as, those which I purchased at Visonworks some five years ago, were still in great shape and I was very fond of them - they were great looking and had served me well. Understandably my old frames needed to be sent elsewhere to have the new lenses fitted, and I was quite happy with that requirement. They were back at the store within five days. Unfortunately, through no fault of theirs, there were some problems with the lenses. The manager could not have been more courteous and helpful - something very rare in this town. He took back the incorrect lenses, had the necessary changes made - at no charge, much to my surprise - and less than a week later a very happy customer left the store. I have shopped with them for many years and will certainly continue to do so given their great customer service. Thanks guys! read more
