Worse place to get glasses and get the right ones you ordered. Unprofessional in all areas. Never going there again!!

I can kind of see why there are so many bad reviews but it was mainly the disorganization of the place as a whole that was a little frustrating. We worked with Michael who was very considerate and friendly. We did have to wait a decent amount of time but Michael made it worth it with his customer service. We will probably come back but we'll be asking for him specifically! Only advice, the store needs better communication between the associates and a better check in system. The worst customer service experience of my life. The guy who sold my glasses was nice enough, but when I came to pick them up (a single set i paid 300$ for) 30 min before they close, the incompetent buffoon working in dispensing decided to close. I Was told it would be a while, after waiting 20 min while a displeased couple in front of me were taken care of. Go anywhere else!!! Go to Walmart or Costco before Stanton. If I could give a zero I would. Run away. Run far away. They sold me frames too big for my progressive lens. Everything looked like a fun house mirror. They refused me a refund. Said I had to give them another chance, but they had no more in the style I wanted. They expected me to settle. I refused. So their only compromise was I could bring my own glasses. So I did. They kept my other frames even though I brought my own, after my insurance and I paid for them. Then they talked me into a coating for my lens, telling me it would not leave a nasty film that would be difficult to clean...AND on top of all that, they didn't get the second pair correct either. I can't see good at of them at all....I just said screw it and counted my loss. But I will never go back there. I don't see how they stay in business. I could have been a life time customer but they chose to do bad business and screwed me over...if anyone knows of a lawsuit pending that I saw others expressing in their reviews then I want in on it. First off, the exam is via the internet- there is no optometrist there! That was not disclosed until going into the exam room. The staff at the optical shop is unprofessional and rude. I had 3 interactions on 3 different days with 3 different salespeople and all provided little to no service. My glasses were delivered by handing them to me in a case - they didn't adjust them, etc. when I went back for adjustments the lady acted totally bothered because asked for help. My daughter's glasses were wrong and they reordered them so another 2 weeks waiting. My wife's glasses took nearly 3 weeks - still aren't here. GO ELSEWHERE! This place is awful!!!! read more

Was given a false quote on the phone only to arrive and be charge 3 times the amount I was told. Did not give me options on prices of lenses which I later found out, and did everything they could to raise the price I was to pay. As others have said, 1 star is TOO MUCH. The 2 for $69 dollar deal is FAKE, and you will get an eye exam and then be slapped with AT LEAST a $200 bill. If you don't buy, they want a ridiculous amount for the "free eye exam". I have been on hold a total of 1.5 hours over 6 phone calls JUST TO GET MY PRESCRIPTION EMAILED TO ME because I now live out of state. I would never ever use this company again regardless of where I live though. It is such a terribly run company. The 1 star average review is so generous. I wish we could leave 0 star reviews. The glasses are cheap and break in just a few months. The staff is horrible and hung up on me after over 30 minutes of waiting for the manager. After 6 calls and promises to email my prescription, nothing has happened. I am so, so frustrated. read more

Sadly my experience mirrors all the other complaints. The debacle started a year ago when I first purchased there. I was told my glasses would be ready within 7 to 10 days. It took 5 trips, yes five. First my prescription was completely wrong then the progressives improperly aligned and so on and so on. More than a month later I finally walked out with my glasses. Even at that point I was not completely happy but was exhausted from dealing with them. I almost feel sorry for the staff as they are left to deal with a long line of dissatisfied customers complaining about subpar products. I say almost because they try to feed us lines of junk to tide us over and get us out of their hair rather than actually addressing the issues. [ just as a side bar EVERY time I was in the store it was no less than an hour wait, during which I could hear other customers dealing with issues and voicing complaints] But wait the saga continues. In less than a year my frames broke. Keep in mind I have worn glasses my entire life and never has this happened before. This could have easily been forgiven if they had shown even a modicum of concern. Rather than standing behind their product, I'm charged 20 percent or 100 dollars to get new frames and lenses. This time I was promised I would receive them in two weeks. For those of you that wear glasses, you know that is a ridiculous time to wait for lenses to begin with. But do you think they were ready in 2 weeks? 2 weeks comes and goes and I never hear from them. After waiting 2 months I go into the store to see what the holdup is. As with the first experience, I watched as several staff members scurry around searching for my nonexistent order. After waiting a half hour I speak to the manager and she joins the fray. Eventually the manager comes to me to tell me, now don't be shocked, they're not ready! I tell them I'm tired of waiting and that I want a refund so that I can go elsewhere. She tells me I will have to take it up with customer service. She was nothing more than a painted glorified bouncer with non-existent customer service skills. Rather than doing her best to keep me as a customer, she immediately cops an attitude and tries to deflect responsibility by telling me she's only been there a month. I advised her if she had any sense she would get off the sinking ship. After speaking with customer service, I now have to wait another 48 hours while they do an investigation before deciding whether they will issue a refund or not. What a joke! I would have better luck predicting the weather than what these people will do. Don't be tricked by the smiles on your first visit. This place is not worth your time energy and trouble. Save yourself the headache. If a cheaper product is the only concern, LensCrafters and Eyemart at least deliver in a timely fashion. And as for the so-called great selection, if you pay attention you will notice there are 3-4 samples of each style spread throughout the store. So they actually have about 25% of the selection you see when you walk in. In future, I will be going ANYwhere but here! Regardless of whether I get my refund, I will continue to post the truth about this ridiculous company on every venue I can find. I will also be checking with a consumer protection agency and the Better Business Bureau. I hope this review helps you avoid the same mistake I made! UPDATE: Spoke with Customer Service and they stated a refund can only be processed through the store. The manager lied?? Shocking! Carecredit did give us the refund for the $100 we paid for the copay on the replacement glasses. Thank you, Carecredit. Stanton, I hope you get your act together. I am so baffled as to why this place has so many bad reviews!? I went in a desperate need to fix my prescription on my glasses that I ordered online... Not a good a choice on my part... But they were overly wonderful to me. I was even able to set up an Appointment the very next day to get fitted for contacts.. First time user lol... It went so well. Loved everyone that helped. When I picked up my glasses with the new prescription the fit was a little off. Because I'm super picky... They spent an entire hour with me trying to get them to fit the way I wanted. Careless! Will never go back. I chose my frames, paid my money and waited the 2 weeks I was told it would take. I called after 16 days as I had not heard from them, to check on my glasses. They told me they had lost both frames I had chosen and only had the lenses. Why they did not call me to tell me this earlier I don't know. They wanted me to come in and choose new frames. I told them no, I wanted my money back which they did give me without argument. Very disappointing experience. I can see why every review they receive is only 1 star. Had always gone to Eyeglass World but decided to try something different...unfortunately... Here they do nothing but try to talk you into more and more add-ons, all of which were hugely more expensive than Eyeglass World and my optometrist's prices. They didn't "spot" my eyes on any of the 4 pairs I was purchasing, and the bill was ridiculously confusing! Two pairs of glasses weren't ready when promised; and, I was simply handed the glasses when I picked them up- without cases!! Had to ask! So I called today to get an eye exam and I was pretty excited that they were able to see me. So I get my appointment time and I get there I go in and the girl tells me they don't accept my insurance. I specifically asked the guy that took my appointment if they did and he assured me that was not a problem they would take my insurance. Then the girl tells me that that's been happening a lot. Don't tell people you accept something if you don't. I was hesitant to use Stanton Optical because of the last time I went there. And if you want to know real quick I went to go buy my dad glasses for his birthday last year and I end up spending over $800 for two pairs of glasses which I wasn't very happy about but it was for my dad so I wasn't going to tell him no but I told myself I would never go back to them again and sure enough. This place is a joke!!!!!! I would have chosen no stars if I could !!! I dont ever make reviews anywhere but, I felt like I had to for Stanton optical. I called to make my daughter an appointment and made sure to ask if they took our insurance, they said yes. I made the appointment and her grandpa took her to her appointment, they where there 3 hours waiting to be called back. They would not allow anyone in the waiting room with my daughter who is under 18. She finally gets called back for her turn and there is no Dr. The Dr talks to her on a zoom call and her accent is so heavy my daughter can not understand her and the Dr. Starts getting mad at my daughter. Her appointment is finally over and they go to check out her grandpa told them multiple time about insurance but they charged him full price anyway. I call for three days nobody answers to get his money back and for them to charge insurance But they won't answer the phone. I talked to multiple people at costumer service and they tell me they can't help me i have to talk to someone at the store. I finally get a hold of someone and they tell me they are out of network and they would file a claim and get back to me in 24/48 hours. We will see if they call me back. I recently purchased a groupon for Stanton optical. I then went online to check out reviews and saw several bad ones so I was very skeptical about using the groupon. I was pleasantly surprised by my great experience. Ryan was the technician who helped me, he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. My glasses arrived on time and are everything I asked for. I have absolutely never received worse customer service IN MY LIFE. Very rarely am I compelled to write a bad review. I work in customer service myself, so I prefer to write glowing reviews of employees when they've done a good job. So this bums me out, but it was so abysmal the three times I was in that I will NEVER be returning, in part to the manager Antoinette. I booked an eye appointment, got my glasses and my trial pair of contacts. Managers special, so they telly you its 50% off frames. The sales person (Not eye doctor, not anyone trained, very much so simply interested in sales, told me that my total (after paying for the eye exam, over $100) was like $350 after all of the discounts (and that I'd need specific lenses because my eye prescription of -4.0 and -3.5 was "so bad") and I told him that I couldn't afford that. He looked me square in the eye and asked. "How did you plan on paying for your glasses?" Very agitated at me for taking up his time. I was stunned and said, "I have money, I just don't have $350 to spend on glasses! I'll just take the contacts today, I guess." So he plugged in a coupon code for me, (AND THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT GUYS, each sale associate has as many as 5 coupons that they can use, BUT ONLY in the event that you seem like you're going to walk instead of paying. USE THIS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!) It took the total to like $280 or something that was still pricey but a little more manageable. I paid, and was already seriously considering never coming back after I picked up the contacts a few weeks later. The second time I was in I had to wait for 10 minutes for them to find my contacts and glasses, but other than that it was ok. The gal in the back always seems swamped, and even with appointments you'll wait upwards of half an hour in their waiting room while children run around and scream. ALL of the contacts for my left eye came out of the box defective. OUT OF THE BOX. They were too thin on one side, a manufacturing defect, and would roll up even when placed on the eyeball. I called them, the call center directed me to call Antoinette the manager. Angelo, whom I spoke to first, said that I couldn't get a replacement but he'd be happy to give me 20% off a NEW BOX OF CONTACTS unless I'd be willing to drive down and show them the defective contacts. So I did, I drove down and showed them the defective contacts. Antoinette looked at them and said a few things: She couldn't give me a replacement box because the contacts that had been open had been open. The ones that hadn't been open she couldn't replace either, because they weren't open and how did we know they were defective? She told me she couldn't give any free things away and I said that they weren't free, I had spent nearly $400 total the first trip I'd been in within the past few months. She said she couldn't, but she could give me a discount on a new box, and said 20% had been ridiculous but she could give me 50% off, Exasperated and just wanting to be able to wear my contacts that I had paid for, I just went ahead and paid 50% off for the one box of contacts and vowed to never return. (To her credit she did get me a single contact so I could wear my contacts while I waited the weeks for them to be delivered.) I just opened the new box of contacts that I paid 50% off for, and they are ONCE AGAIN, DEFECTIVE. I will absolutely not be returning here again, and I really hope you heed all of the warnings and low reviews here, as I did not. I had simply thought "People only write reviews when they're mad." Which is true, and in this case, there is a huge reason as to why there are so many bad reviews. Save your money, and go literally anywhere else. read more

Bait and Switch sums it up. I know that glasses are not cheap, but never did I expect to pay $625!!! I called back after getting home to cancel my purchase, I was told that my lenses were already cut so I would not be able to get a refund but corporate would be notified for a possible discount. My question is, if my lenses were already cut then why do I have to wait for up to 14 days for my glasses to be ready, The frames are already made?? I hated my experience here and will never return. I highly advise anyone looking for a eye exam, new glasses or contacts to find somewhere else. 1. The price was not what they advertised. It is very expensive. 2. I ordered contacts in April and currently have still not received them. (It is almost August). 3. Every time we go in and call, they apologize and make false promises but it is never fulfilled. 4. I spent a lot of money on a year supply of contacts and I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED THEM. 5. They refuse to give me a refund on my order but will not give me my order. 6. They will say they have my order in stock, but then when I go in, they have lost them and then reorder them. 7. They have reordered them 3 times and still nothing. 8. I have spent at least 8 hours on the phone over the last 2 months with the phone line either dropping or still on hold. 9. The place is extremely unorganized with paper work laying all over the table tops and not stored away. 10. There are more people standing around the store than actually working and helping people. 11. It is overcrowded and the eye exam is not with an actual person. DO NOT COME HERE!! read more

I hate having to do this. We both needed new glasses and I had found that Stanton's frame selection was larger than the other place I'd checked out. We were there much past our appointment time just for the eye exam. We were surprised that the actual prescription exam is conducted online, but were ok with that. We ordered two pair each for just shy of $500 each - and that was with our eye insurance. Hardly the bargain prices I was hoping for. But we went with it. One pair of my wife's glasses broke at the nosepiece in under two weeks. When I returned for a replacement, her frame was no longer available. Even with their 30-day warranty it was another $100 to get a replacement with a different frame - another two weeks' wait for that. I took my glasses in and asked that they be corrected so they sat straight on my face (no one had bothered to check the ear piece length on my head or the slant on my face when I got them). The young man in the dispensary bent one of the ear pieces so that it pinched my head in order to raise that side a bit. They remain lopsided because I am simply not interested in returning to that store yet again. The employees are friendly enough, but based on the overall behavior and service, I'm guessing they're paid (at least partially) on commission for what they sell. We'll be returning to the non-"budget" professional opticians the next time. read more

My two pair of glasses cost me over $500. I purchased my glasses while waiting to get my eye exam. No explanation as to why my two pairs were over $500. My 4:45 appointment....I got seated in the exam chair at 6:00pm. The reason one doctor on the schedule and they never bother to tell me that when I checked in. I had to ask after sitting for an hour. Got me seated only to come in 15 minutes later to tell me the doctor left and they would have to reschedule my exam for the very first appointment next week. However, for my inconvience they would give me a pair of sunglasses free. Told me to pick them out, told them that the second pair I order was a pair of sunglasses. Stated they would take care of the refund, it would have to go to the corporate office. Came in for my exam the next week all was good. Asked about the refund and was told that it had been submitted to the corporate office that day. Less than two weeks my first pair of glasses were ready, asked about the sunglasses then went back to check and stated that the glasses were still being tinted. They would call me when they were ready. I went in at four weeks from my appointment to check on my sunglasses they had to search for them when they found them the lenses had not been put into the frames. They put the lenses in....I again asked about the refund. Then manager came back asked for my credit card information and stated they were refunding me $150.00. Which to me is not a free pair. If I am paying $500 for my glasses they should at least give me a refund of $250.00. Anyway as of this review my refund which was going to be processes two weeks ago (three this Saturday) has yet to be applied to my credit card. Whoever is reading this review DO NOT I repeat DO NOT give your business to Stanton Optical. They do not stand by their word and I truly believe their advertisement is FALSE. . read more

First pair sucks, went for change, can't fix because drill machine broken, wait wait wait. 5-10 minutes turns into hour. first time i came i had a pretty normal experience, got my glasses pretty quickly and no real hassle. be aware that the two-for special only applies to certain frames - usually ones that are not all that stylish - so if you want nice ones expect to pay more. ok makes sense. second time i came here i will never come back again!!!!!! i waited over a month for my glasses; called several times and always got the run around or just got randomly hung up on - finally just went in the store and they said the glasses were ready. what??? buy your frames online! read more

I was drawn into Stanton Optical on Louisiana Blvd. in Albuquerque by the promise of a free eye exam and two pair of glasses for $59.00 as advertised on their website. I had called in for an "appointment", and given one for 4:30 in the afternoon. As soon as I drove up to the building I saw the sign outside which says "Free Eye Exam" Two pair of Glasses for $69.00. Before you get your free eye exam, you pay $48.15 which they say will go toward your new glasses. The wait was 52 minutes for the initial "exam", and then about 20 minutes for me to sit in a room with a "doctor" on the TV. I asked if I would get a paper prescription before I paid for my exam, and the clerk said "sure". The appointment was Monday afternoon. It is now Wednesday morning, and I still have no prescription. I do not think that the "prescription" will be worth the paper it is written on (should I ever get one). Do yourself a favor, and go to a reputable business. This business is a scam, and I will be filing complaints with the state attorney's office and the board of optometry. I suggest that anyone with a bad experience at this "business" do the same. The use of quotes in my review may be annoying, but I use them to suggest that the words inside the quotes may not be accurate or true. read more

Don't see what all the fuss is about. Stanton optical did a tremendous job. Dr. Lauren Adams was professional and speedy. Shannah helped me out with my glasses and was extremely courteous and helpful. Although -1 star for frames as they all look the same. Your best bet is to bring in your old pair and have them make you new lenses. I bought a groupon for 24 bucks and with frame, eye exam and lenses I paid 50 bucks on top of that. 74 bucks total which in my opinion isn't bad at all. Would recommend though to those on a budget when it comes to glasses and eye exams. read more

I would give a zero start if have that option. I have to say by far the very worst place to got the glasses. I been to there several times, every single time I have to wait forever. They do trick to take the money from you, for example they charge your Hard coat/Lens Warranty which you do not have to pay, but they didn't tell you. You couldn't ask your any cent back after you paid. They told me I would get the call if the glasses getting done,but I didn't got call in ten days. And then I called them, they said it's ready, but I had to wait another week after I got there. They said they got wrong. Finally wait about three weeks, I got my glasses and I found out all of scratches on my glasses, I asked either refund the money or change new one for me. The answer was disappoint. read more

I wish I could less than one star. Yes, there were good things about the experience and even SOME of the staff but the bad easily outweighs any of the decent things about this place. The staff. I couldn't believe some of the things that occurred during my visit. All of the ladies but one, who assisted with my eye exam weren't very nice, they were too busy talking to one of the young men that worked up front. After my exam, I am standing and waiting at the front desk and young woman tells me, "$79 is your total." Okay, I get it, I know I have to pay, but can I see a receipt or maybe can you tell me what I am paying for? I had to ask what that included. I had to let her know that I did have insurance and I had all of my paperwork needed with me. I paid my copay and got taken to the front of the building to pick out some glasses. Of course everything was great until I had questions and concerns. I was interested in two pairs of glasses and some contacts. My insurance covers up to a certain amount. The woman assisting me never told me how much the contacts were, she just ensured me that the contacts would be the same amount everywhere. Fine. The glasses, I had to ask the price of the frame, the lenses and why the BOGO deal wasn't good for me. She was a kind woman but did nothing for me or my questions regarding the price of everything. Everything she did was behind her computer and when I had a hard time making a decision, she got irritated. I get it, there I was thinking of everything meanwhile, she could have been making another sale. I understand but that doesn't give you the OK to show your shift of attitude toward a client and their situation. My concern was, "Why am I paying this much money when I have insurance? Can I afford this? Yes. Should I inquire elsewhere to ensure I am getting a good price for both? Probably. I don't think I am a criminal for doing so. The associate was upset that I did not make a purchase from her. She let me know that I could NOT get a copy of my eyeglass/contact prescription..the one I should get after paying for the eye exam that i got 2 hours prior. She let me know that I have to pay a $21 fee for obtaining my prescription without making my purchase from them, so consumers, make note. Because they will not let you know about that until the end when they are upset that you didn't buy from them. I got the fee waived by a manager for my glasses, they gave me the prescription for my glasses that I was unable to use because it didn't have the Dr.'s signature. (pretty sure that was deliberate) All of this seems like stuff that happens all the time. And it really does but the part that was the worst was when the associates Manager came over to waive my fee, the associate looks at here and tells her, "She might come back when she can get some money..." I was far too tired to even argue. I just couldn't believe that this woman made this a money issue and then said that. I was humiliated, I felt so small. I am shocked that both women just stood there and seemed perfectly okay with the comment. My decision to not purchase there had to do with the fact that the staff did a HORRIBLE job keeping me informed with any information the whole time I was there. Not because I couldn't afford the purchase. And if I couldn't, they just get to say those types of things to people and make other's feel uncomfortable. I am disgusted beyond belief. I will NEVER EVER go to this store again. To think I left work early to go and waste my time getting mistreated. I will never refer anyone here. read more

The incompetence, over promising, under delivering and complete lack of communication at this location is ridiculous. Throughout my entire experience with Stanton I've been promised and assured with absolute certainty of everything from glasses delivery deadlines to the cost, lense availability and so on, so forth and they've delivered on nothing. I've been waiting on my glasses for a week now and was even called at one point that my glasses would be done that day at 4. I showed up and 2 associates, the lab techs and the manager had no idea where my glasses were but one of the associates went as far as to assure me that she had my finished glasses in hand earlier that day only for me to find out after they contacted the lab manager that my lenses hadn't came in which I am STILL waiting on. They tried to take me for over $300 when the eye exam is "free" and the frames were BOGO. I've worn glasses for over 18 years and have never worked with such a mediocre business in my life. Save yourself the headache and pay a little more for a more reputable company. Update: I called to check on the glasses and the framing associate said "just come in, they should be done". I insisted they do their job and look before hand and lo' and behold, they still aren't ready. I asked to speak to the manager and was told he wasn't available then the associate hung up on me! At this point I just want my money back and my prescription. Update 2: Finally called for pick up and the prescription was wrong. I couldn't see through them at all. Had to call corporate to initiate a request for full refund. I've never dealt with such incompetence in my life. The 5 star reviews of this company are extremely fishy. The exam was ok. But , a little basic. The biggest issue was at the time of at the time of ordering the glasses. I have insurance , which pays 60% of everything. So , after $130 for frame , $238 for lenses ( very light RX) plus various charges X 2 ( they advertise buy 2 get 1 free) my total AFTER insurance was $527 ! When I ask how much before insurance? Total was $341? How is that possible? Bottom line , didn't bought the glasses, felt I was being scammed . Not blaming the sales guy , he seemed as confused as me. Shop at your own risk. Went here a week early to schedule an appointment in person. Showed up a week later for my appointment time, and they had no record of us. Horrible service, and horrible people in the optical office! Never going in here again!! read more
