Hadnt been here in about 5 years. Walked in with a buddy during the day on Saturday to have a few beers. Place was filled with college football fans. Sat at the bar and had the tequila queso (delicious) and the bacon burger (phenomenal). We kicked a few back and had such a good time we stayed longer than we intended. The guy who was running the place Miles was a nice guy and always on point. I will be coming back especially when they play Stars games here. Food is really good here. Parking is kinda tricky. There is parking in the back but you have to walk a little bit but it's all good. The place is totally worth it. read more

Stans is awesome UNLESS you sit in the area next to the big screens...which is ironic because they tout themselves as as sports bar. We've been here more than once where large tables get service and the smaller tables get passed over without so much as a greeting...and don't expect any kind of service. Tonight, after trying once again, our server walked by over 15 times (we counted because we were hoping for just a pitcher of beer) without acknowledging us in any way. The service is absolutely unacceptable. So, if you want to be ignored over and over in an insulting way, go to Stan's. read more

Stan's is a glorious neighborhood dive bar, stumblin' distance from my house. I've been a loyal patron for over 30 years, so I've see it grow from its original space, about the dimensions of a bowling lane, to its current spacious expanse, indoors and out. Food is quite solid for bar fare, and the tap beer is cold and cheap with something for everyone. You will likely dig Stan's- well worth a visit, if you've never been. read more

This place has been consistently awesome since I can remember (12 fuzzy years?). No frills, old school sports bar, lots of beers on tap but perfect for cheap bottles, shots, and strong drinks. Service is exceptional. Food is pretty good too. It is so nice to have Stan's while the rest of Dallas is taken over by dooshy bars, craft cocktails, "mixologists", fancy food, and terrible "it's obvious I don't want to be working here" service. Oh, Stan. You used to be high on my list of regularly visited bars. What happened to us? Who broke up with whom? I guess it doesn't really matter, since I have you back in my life again. I'd forgotten how much fun can be had at Stan's. Our bartender, Andrea, served us drinks and food while keeping one eye squinched for possible "lose our liquor license" behavior. She did a wonderful job. Yes, I got my ass handed to me at shuffleboard but that's what happens when drunk boys take advantage of drunk girls. I'm not going to lie, I had to close one eye to see the end of the lane (runway?). I also think I wandered off before the game was even over. Sorry 'bout that. I'm just pleased with myself that I didn't send one of my puck thingies flying out the back door. Which only happened this one time at Adair's. Really. I've spent many fun evenings at Stan's, being one of the boys. It used to be mostly college kids and probably still is. The good news is that I can still out drink a good number of them. Stan's Blue Note should be renamed to Stan's Brown Note. Every time I drink at Stan's, I have the worst hangover the next day. A friend of mine and I came up with a theory that Stan's must not clean their kegs, pipes, mason jars, or the beer must be out of date. Maybe they wash those mason jars in alien bile. I don't know what it is, but I shouldn't be sick as f*ck the day after drinking 5 beers at Stan's. It's just unnatural. The beers are $2 during happy hour, which would be fantastic if they came in pint glasses, but they are instead served in mason jars. Thus, the $2 happy hour is a bit of a rip-off. Give me $2 pints and then I'll be impressed, but I'm drinking a $2 beer out of a mason jar, and I'm feeling a bit swindled. I don't like being swindled. Next time I go to Stan's, I'm going to steal one of their mason jars and measure how much liquid it holds compared to a pint. Then all of Dallas will be able to see how much we're loosing out at a $2 mason jar happy hour, compared to a $2 pint happy hour. Stan's does have its time and place. It's big, there is a big patio, and they show sporting events. The bartenders are nice, and they have pool tables. However, the few times we've had waitress service, they've been slow, and I don't like waiting for my $2 mason jar of beer that will make me ill the following day. They also have a crappy jukebox. All this being said, I do find myself at Stan's at least once a month, although it's never by choice. read more

I love this place! This is my favorite place to go to watch games, i challenge you to go here, look at any spot in there, and try to not see a tv somehow. It's like they have TV wall paper in the back room! It's a good ole Dallas staple, concrete floors, mis matched tables and chairs, Golden Tee, 2 bars, flags from every schoool around, and bras hanging from the cieling. Woo! Good times They have a big wooden patio that sits right out on Greenville, so people watching is greatness. So you can sit out on the patio and drink your ice cold brew that they bring to you in a frozen mason jar.....yeah, i know. And they have tons of beers on tap, so take your time and choose wisely. Had my birthday party here 3 years in a row, and one year we rented out there upstairs room that looks over the whole back room, great for get togethers of the laid back variety. This place has gone downhill, used to be my neighborhood bar. Met my friends up here and didn't get waited on for 23 mins. I finally went to the bar and back to table. When waitress came over finally andsaw we ordered from the bar she shook her head and said "that's not cool." Another waitress shooed me Out of her way. TV's for sports. Check * Just look around, you can barely see the actual wall due to the number of TVs in this place. I mean, they have them stuck in corners, in cubbyhole's...hell, they are probably underneath the tables for the drunkards that pass out. Good Bar Food? Check. They have burgers so big and juicy you wanna name them things like "Big Pauly" and "Sasquatch". The grilled chicken sammich is oh so juicy and delightful. The chili is thick and spicy....and the chips and queso goes fast, so dig in! Selection of Brews? Double check. They have a wall behind the bar covered in taps....your domestics, your imports, your exports....they have them all. And of course the full bar, and bartenders that are SO nice...they remember you and are ready to get ya sauced ;) Did I mention they serve the beers in Mason jars?? Yeeeeeah....don't run all at once! Entertainment? Oooohhh check. Besides the people watching, the old pervert guys that yell at the TV's, etc...etc.....they aslo have Shuffleboard, video games, darts.....get your game on! I'm not a huge fan of their concrete patio....but it IS a huge patio, great for Greenville people watching. So Im not one who yelps just to yelp but I thought this place deserves one. I've been to Stans many many times over the years and the place has made improvements. The local beer selection has definitely improved in the last several months. Both the options and styles to choose from. The food is great, Ive had bar snacks, salad and chicken. The food came out quickly and how it was ordered. The staff is friendly and the new manager is very attentive and always available. I will absolutely be frequenting Stans more often and have even turned some people on to it who had never been before. I can't forget to mention TVS!!! If sports are your thing give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. read more

i used to frequent Stan's, but now it's more of an occasional visit... not by choice; I just live too far away. This is a fun bar and one of my problems is enjoying it too much. I usually end up staying at Stan's until closing time, which means I have also gone partially deaf in one ear from trying to hold a conversation over the music. I would say the music is good, but it's mostly picked out by the owner. The mixed drinks are VERY strong and the beer comes in 10 oz. Ball jars. Nice. Stan's is probably the most casual bar I've been to in Dallas. After a soccer game, kickball, softball or whatever, I would go to Stan's and sit on the patio. No one judges anyone for wearing an athletic uniform; after all, it's a sports bar. They have a patio that allows smoking, a grand room with a HUGE projector TV, and a game room. The game room is stocked with enough to keep even the most ADD person interested. I would highly recommend watching some football or basketball here! read more

What a bar stocked with sports fans! As a Dallas native, I have had my share of grand times at Stan's, but until recently I did not know its capability of being an awesome spot to catch a game - especially one as exciting as the Mavs being in the finals!!!! The back room has a whole wall covered in flat screens dedicated to entertaining its guests. I don't know if it's the the life-size Elvis velvet painting watching over the enthusiastic fans or the strange collections of 'things' that adorn the walls, but it's almost as if they had a garage full of memories and souvenirs from years past and just decorated the bar with random stuff. I think my favorite is the kind-of-scary-at-first soccer player mannequin right when you walk in. Their have a pretty solid beer selection and decent prices on the pitchers of beer. They even serve them in mason jars. Cute! Their patio makes for some prime lower Greenville people watching. Their food is definitely bar food, but not bad. I recently had their fried pickles and nachos (God, that made me sound like 400 lbs.) and the nachos were yummy and did not skimp on the jalapenos. The fried pickles could have benefited from being less fried and more pickle. But all in all, Stan's always makes for a fun down-to-Earth time! read more

Perfect for games and bar food. They have a boat load of beer options and TV's as said. The burgers are good and the Kitchen Sink burger rocks if you like two kinds of cheeses, guacamole, shrooms, bacon and jalapenos along with your regular fixings. I like it A Lot. The Teriyaki burger is good too and different with a lot of flavor. The fajita nachos are large and in charge along with everything else. It's nice that they don't charge you extra for a beef and chicken combo. They come with sour cream and salsa. You gotta get the guacamole as an extra. Now to the biggest chicken sandwich I've ever had at 1/2 a pound. I love it with mushrooms and usually stick with the monterey jack it comes with, but you can choose whatever you like. Same goes for the burgers. I get the garlic cilantro mayo that comes with the chicken sandwich on the side and dip my fries in it. The sandwich doesn't need extra flavor and I don't want to mask this big bird that has been well seasoned. Oh gosh. I nearly forgot the cheddar fries. These are up there on my list of favorites among other places I've had them. I've got my eye on the queso and mini corn dogs but haven't gotten there yet. And the wings are pretty good too. Gotta love bar food and large patios for nice weather. Everything I've had has been around 8 dollars. Man I sound like a piglet. read more

Stan's has a fun atmosphere with neon signs, sports stuff and taxidermy heads hanging everywhere. Their music was great and they have plenty of tv's for sports as well as fooseball, pool, darts, and more. The food was good, nothing special. I had a meatball sub that was hefty and yummy, something I'd definitely order again. Mom liked her turkey burger and my brother enjoyed the fried balogna, Dad said his burger was just fine. We came on Tuesday night for trivia and had a great time. There weren't many other people there but nbd, might've just been an off night. So my gayness and common sense typically deters me from stepping foot in most places on Greenville. Don't get me wrong I am a total fan of dives but that's not what most of the places are on Greenville more like Dante's rings in the Inferno. A friend of mine had a birthday at Stan's Blue Note and while I trust his taste in cool hangouts I was skeptical. It's not a pretty place, definitely rough around the edges and loads of character. I was completely surprised. It was a totally cool bar with a great crowd and I can't say enough about how awesome our waitress was. I mean the second I was running low there she was with another vodka soda and lime. The drinks were well poured and we really had a great time mingling about the bar. If you're looking for a cool place to hang out, well priced good drinks, and a chill evening I totally recommend Stan's Blue Note. Now I know there's a bit of heaven on Greenville. Stan the Man! Stan's Blue note is the definition of what makes hanging out on Greenville Ave unique. A very large establishment, it boasts a very large patio seating area and and what can only be called one of the largest beers on tap around. When you walk in, you'll pass the right by the 700 sq ft patio into the "first" bar full of video games, shuffleboard table and extended seating. Looking to the left, you notice a "Cheer's style" bar and another whole section of seating with very large screen tvs always playing sports games. The important part- BEER. Stan's has a never ending supply of beers on tap. So much that you can request the "Beer Challenge". This requires you to drink all the draft beers. After 6 months, I completed this challenge spending $1000 on beers for a $10 shirt. Well worth it. (I was told that a couple of Dallas Stars completed the challenge in 2 days.) Staff - Very friendly and surprisingly at your disposal considering the vast amount of seating that this place has. Food - Nothing to write home about, but good food for a bar. After being a regular at the place for nearly a year, I recently realized that there is additional seating upstairs. This bar could cater the Republican National Convention if it wanted to. All and all, Stan's is loads of fun, with a huge draft selection, lots of room to mingle and a great patio for people watching. read more

Wow, can I give this place 0 stars? Showed up on march madness Thursday for the 1st rounds and the place was dead! The old woman behind the bar stated that it was because they are normally closed until 3pm. Ummm, hello, someone needs to market that they are open than somehow. D magazine stated this should be a place to go and watch the tournament. Apparently no one else thought so. So there was a nice older man who tried to get the tv and sound to work for a game I was trying to watch but to no avail, this is one of the best sports bars right??? Asked what the drink specials were and the old lady didn't know but she said ask me and she will look it up. Asked for laguanitas IPA and they were out. So here I am, a dead bar, no sound, rude old bartender, and the one beer I wanted they were out. I just said heck with this and left. If you can't get your "sports bar" to run like a sports bar, then what good is it. read more

I've had a love/hate relationship with Stan's for years. On the one hand, it can be a super mellow fun place to hang out with great specials. However, at certain times of the year it is overrun with college students and kick-ballers. Ugh. Tuesdays are a great night to visit: $2 Crown & down and great people watching. There's this bicycle gang that hangs out on the patio most Tuesdays and everyone has a moustache. It coined the phrase "Moustache Tuesday" and my friends and I have been celebrating ever since! Sunday brunch is also fun and they always open early to watch the game (football, soccer, rugby, whatever). The bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable. They also don't take any guff so it can be fun just to sit and the bar and watch all the action. Food menu keeps changing, mostly for the better. Love the Mexican Salad (greens, ground beef, cheese, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, and tortilla strips). Of course, I get mine without the meat. The cheese fries, turkey burger, and sliders are also super delicious. Certainly not diet food, but who wants that in a bar?! read more

This place has been around for what seems like forever. It's got a different vibe than the other bars on Greenville. It's paid back, has a come as you are type vibe and has awesome food and drinks. The food isn't just regular bar food, they actually have some awesome selections. My personal favorite is the BLT. Amazing beer choices, it's hard to decide sometimes. It's not expensive, they have really good specials on top of their already low pricing. The staff is so friendly and always seem to be in good spirits. The bartender Ron is amazing!! He's knowledgeable about pricing, options and can sling a good drink. Definitely recommend if you haven't been already!!! read more

I used to be a semi-regular at Stan's but then I got older than 25 and stopped going with such regularity. That aside, Stan's is a fantastic little bar on Lower Greenville, nestled right there between Lowest and the M Streets. I've never eaten there, but literally all of my friends have and they swear by it for great dive bar food. Nothing against the high class food you might see at the Libertine, but sometimes you just want to hate yourself the next morning. As far as drinks go, they have a gigantic row of taps and shots ideas for you to help you not feel feelings anymore. I suggest PBR and whatever shot the bartender whats to make. That'll help you experience Stan's the way God wanted you to. Oh, and if you play shuffleboard there, pick the side closest to the back. How have I not reviewed this place!!! Sometimes I wonder about my own sanity. There are tons of reviews on here glorifying Stan's (because it's awesome) so I'll try and bring something worthwhile to the table. When I moved over to the M Streets area (from the terrifying wasteland of suburban Arlington...eeek!), this was one of the first places I was super excited about being close to. Every time the work peeps had a hankerin' for pitchers and patios, we went to Stan's. They're patio isn't super trendy or a place to "see and be seen," it's a wooden patio with picnic tables and great Greenville people watching. Most patio clientele usually takes advantage of the dog-friendly aspect, and I LOVE it! I don't have my own dog but I love gushing over other people's. Sue me. One of the things I love about Stan's is that it's a really good place to be a regular. I bartended for a long time in college and I really appreciate staff that remembers you and what you like to drink. Before I started going there on a super regular basis, one of the bartenders remembered us from a visit about three weeks prior, served me up a Miller Lite and Shiner Draft (the bf and my standard order), and even said he liked what I did with my hair (I had straightened it instead of leaving it naturally curly)! Arcade games, shuffle board, pool, karaoke, patio, two bars, flip cup, loft for flip cup and beer pong, multiple restrooms. I mean, seriously, what else do you need? Dive bar that is a destination for college football. A pretty cool experience despite the place being packed from wall to wall. I didn't sit for the entirety of the game but still had a great time. A couple of good Belgian beers on tap, several more in a bottle. Would have liked to have seen a few more Texas tap beers, but they did just get in Real Ale Fireman's #4. Might have had a Saint Arnold's, too if the coasters were an indication. Good crowd. Friendly competition on the shuffleboard. Kristin behind the bar was fun and also friendly. First things you notice about Stan's? 1) The patio is HUGE. 2) All the drinks are served in mason jars. 3) OMG SO many beer choices. One entire wall is lined with taps. My hubby is in beer heaven here. The staff is super nice, and there are always a huge variety of games on the flat screens. The cheese fries are AMAZING, and the chili cheese queso is oh-so-good. I went there with a group on a Thursday night. The place was pretty dead but it didn't really bother me. Drinks were cheap. There were a drink specials which is typical of most bars on weeknights. I've been to Stan's Blue Note a couple times and I didn't hate it the first time. Here's what's unique about SBN: Mason jars. That's pretty much it. Look through the list of what people are saying.... you can find basically any of those things in Dallas and all over Greenville Ave. The biggest thing that turned me off about SBN is that I asked the price of a pitcher of Shiner and got the reply "50 dollars." After giving a semi-smirk and waiting for the real reply, the bartender replies, "Our cheapest beer is Bud Select for 6 bucks." Uh, yeah dude. Great. I don't want Bud Select and that's why I didn't ask about it. Maybe some SMU douche didn't tip you or your dog died or you're jealous of my full head of hair and healthy weight. I really have no idea and I don't care. The rudeness is unnecessary. Some places overcharge for Shiner, which is why I asked. Only reason I'm giving them two stars is because I think some people genuinely could like this bar. Our waitress was friendly and there are some positives. With that said, there is nothing at SBN that really puts it over the top in my mind, and it is very dirty and was understaffed when I was there. There's better out there, much better. read more
