I absolutely love Stanleys , it's a amazing staple in Rhode island with burgers right off the grill with onions and pickles since 1932 . My grandfather use to bring my dad when he was a kid here for a quick cheap burger and fries and my dad did as well with me and now the tradition will continue because my son will be born in a day or two and I can't wait til I can bring him here . No major complaints here. Got in and seated right away. Waitress was efficient and attentive. Burgers were hot and fresh, with lots of onions. The cheesy fries with bacon bits are my favorite though. Plenty of ooey, cheesy, bacony goodness on a plate! What's not to love. Only downside, be sure to have the antacid ready because it's one rich (fatty) meal! This place has been in business for so many years because of two things, 1) good food and 2) it will clean out your colon for weeks! Walking in there is like walking back in time. It has a really cool retro feel to it. I remember going in there in the early 90s and it was just flat out nasty. Its nice to see that they cleaned the place up. I love the double cheeseburgers with extra pickles and large fries with cheese and chili. Oh its so good. Have been visiting Stanley's since I was very little. My whole life this spot has been my favorite. No burgers compare. The onions and pickles on Stanley burgers are beyond amazing. Anytime I'm in the area I pick up a burger to go and it's usually gone by the time I turn off Dexter St. If you havent been you're missing out. Do yourself a favor and stop in. The waitstaff is amazing, the cooks actually care about the product they're serving. Honestly do not have one bad comment about this place and for me that's rare. My friend from work could not stop talking about this place. This was her favorite burger joint growing up. So for her birthday a bunch of us took her here. This was my first experience. Loved the decor. Very retro. The waitress was very nice and helpful. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with a side a fries. One of the best burgers I ever had in my life. Juicy and flavorful. Any burger with this many onions is hard to fault. That said, the burgers are teetering on White Castle "slider" size wise. The fries are good and having them with gravy just makes things better. Such a cute place inside, diner decor with the kitchen right at the bar. Was impressed with the ability of a large party to sit together as most of the seating is for 2 or 4 they do have one area that is large enough to to accommodate up to 12. If you are looking for a cheap place to get some great burgers and fries this is the place. Ordered the Quebec fries with are poutine fries without the cheese curds, they use cheese that is melted on top with gravy, unbelievable taste! Also ordered the seasoned fries, was a variety of spices that worked really well together. The Stanley burger had grilled onions which are cut so thin they work well with this thin burger. Also the mushroom burger had a bunch of mushrooms and I added the lettuce, tomato, and cheese. The food was great, prices extremely cheap, and parking is right in a lot on the side of the building, this is a plus for me bc I am not good at the parallel parking thing. Great stop for a quick lunch, just make sure you get two burgers as they are small but also only about $2 a burger so it is still a great steal! read more

I understand why this is a RI staple after my first visit. The burgers were great. The Quebec fried were pretty dang tasty as well. Topped it off with an orange float. All for ~$12. Amazing. Stick with burgers they are yummy and unique, they are not your typical pressed burger more like shredded beef cooked with grilled onions and served with pickles.
