Terrible service. I have hired Stanley Steemer over many years of home ownership and have been happy with their service. However today, our tile and grout looked no different then before they started. It was a very disappointing and unsatisfying experience all around, starting with getting a mis-quote from the 800 #, to the final poor service we received. The 2 that were sent seemed more interested in pushing their product instead of cleaning. It was a total waste of everyone's time and my money. It looks like I'll be trying to rectify this situation myself. I'm certain we'll not be using them again. read more

My landlord called this company up and I recommended them. I used Stanley Steemer in Denver Colorado. And they have always done a great job. They were very detailed and articulate and made sure they did the best job possible. Now here in Hillsboro 23758 NW Clarendon Lane, Stanley Steemer. Are not detailed oriented. And are always pushing to sell extra products before doing a good job. I don't think they're worth the extra money. So don't go for the high priced carpet cleaners. A company's name doesn't mean anything anymore. You need to just know that you have good people who have pride in their work coming out. I had them come out twice and didn't do a good job. The edges of the carpet and corner of the stairs were left dirty they didn't even pretreat. And the office didn't seem to care much. If they can't get it right by the second time. I'm not going to bother a third time. Don't use this company they're all about juicing you out of your money. And not doing quality work. Pride these days is very hard to find in people. I'm putting in laminate floors so that way I don't have to deal with carpet cleaners again. Plus in the long run It'll save more money. Laminate floors, no special cleaning required just mopping. And I had him give me an estimate to clean my laminate floor, which does not require any special cleaning. The estimated charge was $216 for two rooms and a hall. They also tried to charge me 20 dollars for a rug I paid $20 for brand new. Laminate floor doesn't need any special cleaning process. It just needs mopping. I just wanted to see if they were trying to rip me off. I feel like I got ripped off because all they did was spray water and extracted water and leave and they spread deodorizer on top of the carpet. Landlord paid a lot of money for it. More people should get laminate flooring. It will save you money and a lot of Dust and Germs and a headache in the long run. Carpets collect a lot of germs bacteria. Just being honest. I just moved here. So when I get ready to buy my next house. I am pulling up all the carpet and putting in laminate floors, except in the bedrooms. White carpets and an unwillingness to remove our shoes very often means dark traffic patterns. Samir (and Alex this visit) has been our cleaner every time Stanley Steemer has come to our home and really made a difference. He is efficient, pleasant, knowledgeable and professional. The only good thing I can say is that I was able to request service on a Saturday morning and have them come out Monday afternoon. That's where the good ends. We had them come up to clean the carpet in the ADU on the top level of our house. It has it's own entrance, bath, etc. While one tech (Saud) was busy trying to sell me on why it would be worth $200 to seal our tile today, his cohort (Coby) is getting set up. Part of why I needed to seal the tile now is that these two are the best - only a few trucks have all the equipment needed and they happened to be here - blah blah blah. While this is happening, the other half of the reportedly grade A team, Coby, had gone into main house downstairs without any heads up whatsoever, leaving the kitchen door wide open. This means free access to the outdoors and letting our INDOOR cat out onto a busy street. No warning that they needed access to the inside of the main house to run some drain that goes in the toilet. If they had taken two seconds to ASK or communicate what they needed to do, it would have been simple to put the cat somewhere safe. I only found out he'd let the cat out because while I'm still being told about the millions of overpriced things I need to upgrade to in the ADU, Coby wanders upstairs and says 'hey, your cat is out' nonchalantly - and it took me a second to even register that something so outrageous had happened. You just wandered into my house without any kind of heads up and let a pet out? Seriously?!?! And why the toilet upstairs immediately next to where you're working wasn't good enough, I'll never know either. So now, I have a loose cat on a busy street. I did manage to wrangle him, thank god, which was not a minor miracle. So now that I've deposited the cat in a room and know he's not going to be roadkill today, I call Stanley Steemer - because I'm not happy about this. These kids could have just killed our pet, and have doomed us to a lifetime of increased aggression attempting to get free again (we've been treated to a long chorus of lamenting 'mews' since this happened, who knows when/if it'll let up). Of course, all you can call is an 800 number - there's no calling a local office. You know how sometimes you just get that customer service person who is clearly miserable and hates everyone and everything? That's who answers the phone. I get a stellar example (*cough*) of customer service named Penny, who tells me I have no right to be upset about them opening and leaving doors open without warning, I should have told them I had a pet. The designation of "they were there to work on a totally independent apartment attached to the house" did not resonate with her. Lovely to be really upset about what just happened, not take it out on the person whose fault it wasn't, and then have someone so utterly dumb and useless as your only connection to request a local manager call you. Supposedly someone from the local Hillsboro office will call. Still waiting. So aside from the appalling peril to our pet, the final result is just not that clean. I'm told the few spots on the carpet are all unworkable to remove. Seems like a stretch to me, but whatever, I just want them out of my house. The space was totally empty, but they couldn't lift the tiny wifi router in one corner to clean that area of the room. The online price for two areas, a hall, and a stairway was $173. But wait, there's a special! Two areas and a hall for $99 (we'll apply it when we get there, order minimum of $150). OK, there's an unknown cost for the stairwell, but with that coupon it should probably knock at least $23 off, right? Could it cost $74 to do a stairwell? Well, yes, in case you're wondering, apparently it does. The coupon did not change anything. The calculated cost online for all areas before the magic (it does nothing!) coupon is what you will pay. Don't expect anything to improve. This is not going to compete with your other options out there. So....the pricing did not impress me. If I had more time I would have definitely used a Groupon for someone else locally with better ratings and lower prices (even with an added stairwell, which often are not included). For the quality of the end result, the grocery store rental would have totally sufficed. And as for wandering into my house without warning and letting my cat out?? I will tell every soul I meet for the rest of my life to avoid Stanley Steemer like the plague. These poor kids working for them might just be trying to make ends meet, and they meant no malice in their stupidity - but they can stay the hell away from my house forever. read more

I would give Stanley Steemer an F. I hired them because I'm an extremely busy mom of three and thought they would make things a little easier as we move into a new home. I was suspicious after they only took about 45 minutes to clean 4 large rooms and the stairs. Not only that, but they talked me into a deodorizer and the carpet still smelled really bad after the "cleaning" from the previous owners dog. I have dark brown carpets that don't show any vacuum markings so perhaps they thought they could get away with doing nothing and think I wouldn't notice. After they left I took my own carpet cleaner up to one of the rooms and cleaned it. It was unbelievable how much dirt and filth was in my carpet after they had supposedly cleaned it. They didn't clean a thing! I would bet that they just sprayed the carpet with water and nothing else because it was still disgusting. **I changed my review to two stars because they finally returned my phone calls after a week and came back to redo the job. read more

I made an appointment to have my Lshaped sofa cleaned by Stanley Steemer. This was all done online, and their bid was the lowest out of three that I received. They quoted me a price of $171 to clean and deodorize the sofa and I made an appointment to have them out on a Saturday morning. When they arrived they were very polite, two gentlemen. He told me that it would be an extra charge because it was a sectional. As he worked with his computer to figure the additional charge, his helper was connecting the hoses, etc. Right before they were to start he told me that the extra charge would be $155!! For a 3ft x 3ft L on my sofa! That was on top of the $171 that I was already going to pay. I thanked them for their time and sent them on their way. I still need my sofa cleaned, but I was not going to pay almost $400 to clean a sofa that was $600 to begin with. Bait and switch and made me ANGRY! read more

Booked online for the same day and they were out within two hours. They did a great job cleaning and answering all my questions. My cat went full stress when we moved and used one room for the bathroom (not any more). Had to have it cleaned and deodorized twice, but saved the new carpet. April 2018. Have used Stanley Steemer, Hillsboro, OR, district for years with white based carpet, but had to specify to send me an experienced crew. Had a couple issues in the years, but one phone call takes care of business and they do a follow up call to ask if all is good. read more

I called and scheduled to have just the carpet in 2 rooms and a couple of area rugs cleaned at my moms house. The two techs that arrived were professional, courteous, friendly, polite and very conscientious of their work. They did such an amazing job, that I asked if they wouldn't mind cleaning her furniture, wood floors, all of her area rugs and also added another carpeted room. They never stopped working for a solid 5 hours until the job was completed. When they were done, my moms house was absolutely beautiful. I wished there was more time because I had more work that I would have liked them to do. I will be calling them back and requesting the two gentlemen. If the employees that they hire is a reflection of the business than I would give them less than one star. I had the unfortunate dealings with two gentlemen this afternoon where I was cut off at an intersection where they pushed their way through and caused me to slam on my brakes endangering myself and my daughter when I confronted the gentleman that was driving at the local McDonald's he blew it off and gave me the one finger salute as he went into the building to use the bathroom, I went up and took a picture of the van that he was driving so I would have van number and license plate for when I contacted a corporate representative and as I walked away I was accosted by the passenger as he quickly came upon me asking why I was taking pictures and telling me that I couldn't do that I let him know it was for corporate so I would have the van number and license plate he proceeded back to the van to get his phone and then come back and harassed me and even take a picture of me and wanted to take a picture of my car this isn't Great customer service and I even felt threatened! Like I said if the employees match the business I would definitely go somewhere else.!! read more

The last time I used Stanley Steemer (I was out of state for a month), when I came home after my trip I found a very dark brown dirty line along the carpet/wall areas in my master bathroom. All carpets get that dirty look around the edge after years of having the carpet but this was worse than before they came. I almost did not call them again but decided to try one more time. I think their names were Jose & Victor this time and I showed & explained what happened last time and they paid extra attention to get that area cleaner. IN FACT, they did a better job than ANY of the other guys that have been out to clean the carpet. I give them a 5+ or 6 star review. My carpets look brand new and my oldest carpet is 23 years old and the other are 10-15 years old. They look amazing. Thank you very much guys and I'm glad I tried this company one more time. I've never had to professionally clean my carpets before so I wasn't sure what to expect. The entire process was seamless from start to finish. I went online to check out pricing and received a quote and an online special. There was a disclaimer with reasons why the final price may be higher which made me very skeptical so I called and was informed of what those scenarios were and since they didn't fit my situation I confirmed the appointment. My techs Jose and David were great! When they couldn't find the water supply outside of my condo, they said they would come back with a portable machine which is an additional $50. Not what I wanted to hear. They came back in an hour with extra hosing and was able to use my bathtub as a water supply! They did an amazing job and I'm so happy with the results!!! Best of all, I wasn't charged extra and paid exactly what the quote online said I would which was under $120 for 2 rooms, a hallway, and my entry way. Would definitely recommend their service and to call if you have any questions. read more

They showed up right on time. They were very professional and super nice but the furniture was only "sorta" moved. They mainly cleaned around it. OK, that's not the end of the world, but I found after they left that they didn't put any of the coasters under the furniture to keep the furniture legs from getting wet and leaving marks on the carpet. So even though they really did a great job with cleaning the carpet and they were very pleasant to work with, it was, in the end, kind of half-hearted. I'll probably use them again but I'll make sure I ask them to move the furniture as promised and remind them about the coasters. Kind of hate to have to stay on top of someone doing their job. read more

We had a stain of unknown origin appear a few days after their service, and they came out to remove it at no charge. Their supervisor came by to review their work. I only use Stanley Steemer to clean my carpets. There staff are clean, courteous, and professional. I have them out at least three times a year to clean the carpets. They do try really hard to sell add on products. sometimes the technician makes suttle suggestions, other technicians are quite pushy, so be prepared. Louis did an excellent job; he was professional and courteous, he explained the service he intended to do prior to starting the work. He also asked me to walk through the house to inspect the areas after he completed the job. He informed me that Stanley Steemer cleans upholstered furniture as well as hardwood floors. I'm delighted! Coffee stain? What coffee stain? Not only did Stanley Steemer get here on time, they worked quickly and efficiently and got out ALL the stains in my carpet, including the coffee stain that had resisted all my previous efforts. I'm very pleased with the overall service. They called and asked if they could come an hour early (appt was scheduled between 11-2). Semir and Victor came at 10:00 and helped me move some of the little stuff since I wasn't total ready for them. Very courteous, professional and knowledgeable. After cleaning the carpet, Semir explained that we would see a difference in the carpet pattern in heavy traffic areas due to use and age of carpet (13 yrs old), It was good to get this explanation since I have had the carpet done many times and felt that they didn't do a good job on these areas. All stains were removed, except two, and the explanation for not getting them out was acceptable (hair dye!). They cleaned and applied protectant to my very large sectional. They gave me a demonstration of their tile/grout cleaning which was amazing. I had requested this when I made the appt. They did not try to sell me any additional services. No sales pressure. Semir took me from room to room to make sure I was happy with the results. I did not see any issues. Their set up was very smooth. They had a foam tube that they put around the open front door to keep the heat in as much as possible. They also placed foam protectors around the corners and furniture to ensure their hoses did not damage anything. I hadn't seen that before. Price: I had five rooms and a very small hallway cleaned for $231.00 which seemed fair. The sectional cleaning and guard was $256.00. Yikes! That seemed high but I've never done such a large sectional before. I had them give me a price on doing my 4 area rugs. I opted not to do them because of the price. These are inexpensive rugs and the large one (7' x 10') was quoted at $80.00. I also decided not to have my kitchen counters and island tile and grout cleaned due to price. They quoted $250.00 which seemed very high to me. Again, no pressure to get the service done (except by doing the demonstration since they looked SO clean). I would not hesitate to use Stanley Steemer-Portland again, but I would make sure that I got Semir Saric and Victor Meza. These two were outstanding! read more

I found the entire experience to be deceptive. I was asked to sign their handheld computer without being able to see the information. The first time I asked what I was signing, and it played a little audio clip. The bid was for $150. The final cost was over $250. I am trying to sell my home and needed everything to look and smell clean, They added a deodorizer which aggravated my asthma. It took three days for everything to dry. The carpets were left quite wet. Now I have an unpleasant smell in my house akin to dirty gym socks. Make sure you ask to read what you are signing, before you sign. This place has the worst customer service I have ever seen. First,they come out yesterday without the portable cleaner (which I asked for). Then they send a crew out at around 4:30 and was told it was too late in the day to clean the carpet as it would take longer to dry. I was upset, however, they promised to come out the following day at 1:00 pm. They actually promised me that they would be at my apartment at 1:00 pm. Well, I get a call in the morning that they would be right over. I told them "no you won't be right over". I have a 1:00 pm appointment. Then, they send a crew out at around 3:00 p.m without the portable cleaner. Well, at this point I was totally livid. Then, they send a crew out at around 4:15 pm with the portable cleaner. At this point, I just told them to forget about it. I told them I would call another company to clean my carpet. I thought this was a reputable company, but I was wrong. I never got to review the cleaning job, as it never got that far. They never let you get past the 800 number. So, you cannot call Hillsboro directly. The 800 number does not give the Hillsboro the correct information. They need to let their customers call the local companies directly. There is no chain of communication. read more

I have used Stanley Steamer out of the Hillsboro, OR location in the past and have been pleased with the service. However, I do feel pressured to scotch guard my carpets each time I have used their carpet cleaning service. I usually decline the offer. This time after saying no twice to scotch guard, the technician said that he would clean my living room carpet at no charge if I agreed to scotch guard the upstairs hallway. The only rooms I asked to be cleaned during this visit was the family room, stairs, and hallway upstairs. The technician said it would cost an additional $40 to apply scotch guard and he would throw in the living room carpet at no charge. I agreed---and advised him that I had a budget of $150. The initial estimate was $99.00. He then came back and said that he mis-quoted and that the total cost for carpet cleaning w/ scotch guard was $160 ($10 over my budget). This included a 20% discount that his manager said that he could give me because he mis-quoted. After I started moving furniture out of the way in the living room, the technician came back and asked why I was moving furniture out of the way. He then said that he never told me that there wouldn't be a charge for cleaning the living room. At this point, I realized he was scamming me and just trying to get more money. I told the technician that I would never use Stanley Steamer again! I followed up with a complaint call to the corporate office in Arizona. read more

I live in St. Johns. All I can say is that the guys were nice, on the surface However, the "deodorizing" treatment is a rip-off as it is just spray perfume. He sold it to me as something that they apply during the actual steam cleaning, like through the machine and then I saw him using a sprayer to spray the carpet and I was shocked. Don't get the deodorizer; it is a scam. Next issue; the two bedroom apartment I hired them to clean was empty; meaning they could have taken all the time in the world on the carpet because they didn't have to move furniture. It was a "gravy" job. They finished in 20 minutes. I thought they must know what they are doing so I didn't say anything. However, after one week I vacuumed my carpet. I have a 500$ vacuum with a dirt sensor that indicates green, yellow and red (which works because I have used it in other places I have lived) and that dirt sensor wouldn't come off of red, meaning very dirty. In other words, the cleaning did nothing because that is what the dirt sensor indicated before they started. I am very disappointed. Now I have an apartment full of furniture and I wanted this done before I moved in. If I didn't have such an advanced vacuum I wouldn't have known the difference and I suspect most people don't know the difference. Another thing was that I had them come back out the next day because the carpet still smelled. He used more "deodorizer" and then said it must be in the pad. He said they shouldn't re-clean the area because the truck they had the day before had more powerful suction and this truck wouldn't do as good a job. Newsflash, I know vehicle types and the truck with the supposed weaker suction was a much newer truck (vvan). Unhappy all the way around. I'm hesitant to call back and complain now that I am full of furniture. I don't think I want to see them again. 240 bucks down the drain in my opinion. read more

It has been several years since I have used Stanley Steemer, but they used to clean my carpets regularly and I was very happy with them even though they were a bit more expensive. This past summer I had my carpets cleaned through a deal in the clipper magazine. I had to move all the furniture out of my house because they did not move anything. Kind of a pain. However, they did an excellent job. I was told by several people that my very old carpet looked brand new. It did look great when they where done. Fast forward to November, I was in a time crunch due to the holidays and my work schedule and didn't have the time to move everything out of my house. I called Stanley Steemer to clean the carpets, such a disappointment. When I came home from work that evening I could still see spots on my carpet. It's now four days later and several of my spots are just as clear as they were the day they came. I broke out my carpet cleaner to clean the spots and the water was filthy. I completely wasted money on this company and will never do it again. Not sure what the change is because they used to be great. I am extremely disappointed!! read more
