This review is negative not because of the actual service rendered by the technicians (who have always been great out of the Rhode Island franchise) but because of the corporate side of the transaction. I had an appointment window of between 11 and 2. At 1:06, I received a text that my tech was on his way. Great! At 1:45, when no one had showed up, I called customer service. It used to be local; now it is apparently all centered in Ohio. Unfortunate. Customer service said that dispatch anticipated another 15 minutes because he was "coming a long way." I was thinking to myself " I live in the smallest state in America. One can travel across the entire state in less than an hour.is he driving from Wisconsin?" What I didn't realize was that he was in fact in another state, Connecticut. The dispatch apparently had no spatial perspective because at 2:40, an hour and a half later, after my window had expired, no one had yet arrived. To make matters worse, the tracker they sent me was hopeless. When it finally worked and signaled me that the tech was 9 minutes away, it then rerouted me to another tech, who was now 20 minutes away! The original crew eventually showed up at just before 3. But 10 minutes later, ANOTHER crew arrived also. Turns out the folks in Ohio confused my order with an old one and thought I had two open appointments making it all even worse. After speaking with a manager, he gave me an additional 10% discount off my bill for the inconvenience I have been caused. When the tech actually presented me the bill, there was no such discount. They couldn't even get that right. I have been a customer of Stanley Steemer for a long time. I have never seen such a mess. I need to find someone else when franchisees get taken over corporately, it always goes to hell. read more

Getting the runaround from the RI office about a rug coming back from the warehouse. Customer service spoke with the manager and they're unwilling to call the warehouse and get an arrival date. I am moving and won't be in RI much longer and it's been almost a month since it was picked up. Customer service said there was nothing he could do and manager was aware of my calls. I asked if there was any way he could have the manager ask the warehouse when the date was that it was shipped to them but he couldn't help me. My initial experience was good. Christian did fine with my loveseat and chair. It went downhill from there, when he recommended taking my rug for off site cleaning. Said it would be more effective. I trusted that, so let him take the rug. He said the turn around time would be 1-2 weeks. It has been well over 2 months, and after multiple calls to Stanley Steamer, no one seems to be able to tell me what happened to my rug. I feel like I'm getting the run around. Their customer service is not local. They keep telling me someone will call me. They even told me someone left me a voicemail. I went through every voicemail message and none were from Stanley Steamer. I thought this was a good company. That's why I hired them to care for my carpet. Never again!!! read more

We have an old house with forced hot air heating. We called SS to come and clean out our vents. The first time they came by seemed ok till the heat came on and dust and grit blew all over the house. We called them back to remedy the issue, so they came back and hooked up their truck. But ever since SS came to our house, our issue with dust and grime spewing out of the vents has been an ongoing issue, we did not have before. read more

Although the technicians were great the managers and account reps are horrible. Gary quoted us one price but when the technicians arrived we were provided a different price. When Gary arrived to my home he told me $800 for the UV light and explained the pricing for the vent cleanings. He also stated the UV light would be installed to the basement air unit. When the technicians arrived (late, due to Gary never scheduling our service. If I didn't call Saturday morning to inquire as to when someone would arrive, I would not have had anything done) we were told the UV light he quoted would not work in our unit so we needed (2). The techs also told us the UV lights would have to be installed in the attic, something Gary never discussed with me. When I called to inquire about pricing I was met with aggression by both managers I talked to (one was named John who I talked to today, 3/18/25 and the other one I talked to on Saturday sounded like a child and was very unprofessional). E. Providence store came out quickly for estimate, that's the only good thing. Tech's came to clean ducts and found that we have insulated lining, this would cost extra for a "special" cleaning process. This quote is directly from their website, "we provide you with an accurate estimate." I left our estimator (Danny) a voice message to ask why wasn't this found in in the inspection? I received a reply (John) and was told that they should not have told us that we needed this service in order to clean the ducts. They offered to give us a credit for future services (asked us to remove our Google review). I would not let them back on my property to clean my garbage cans. Our dog had dental surgery and drooled on our leather couch, leaving dark blood stains. It was very easy to make an appointment (no long wait), and the guys that came to do the job were personable, efficient, and got the stains out! They also offered tips on what to do if this happened again (hopefully it won't!). After they were cleaning, my sectional couch looked at it, and it looked OK but it was still wet so it's hard to tell how good a job they did. After they left and it dried it was apparent that it was still really dirty. I used my small spot cleaning machine and was amazed how much dirt still came to came out of the couch. The guys did an excellent professional job and offered free advice for routine maintenance. Yes, they did push for additional services, which I deferred in making a decision. They did suggest additional work that was needed and declined to clean an area they felt was not ready to be assaulted with high-pressure steam [new tiling]. So, I appreciate companies willing to work and also do a great job--being sales pushy is not a problem as there is always the option of just saying 'NO.' We thought we were doing a good thing, by maintaining an expensive rug; now it's a tripping hazard and needs to be replaced. Had Stanley Steemer come for a carpet cleaning around mid July. Two young men arrived at the scheduled time, very personable guys. However, they were in and out so fast that I could not believe how quickly they finished. I asked them to go over two areas, which they gladly did. When I questioned them about the speed in which they finished, they said they had new machines that worked much quicker . Our carpet seemed clean because when it is wet it looks great. However, once it dried, it did not seem that clean. Six weeks later I rented a do it yourself carpet cleaner and was shocked at how much cleaner I got the carpets. The Stanley price was the $99 special......I paid $33 and my own elbow grease. I will not have Stanley back. read more

We expected to be upsold when the guys showed up, based on reviews we read online. I think this is important to know or you might be disappointed. Instead of our $188 quote, we ended up paying $306 because our living room was too big and they charged us for 3. The entire house is only 900 square feet (and they say an average living room is 300), so while I disagree with the assessment, I expected it to happen. Anyway, besides the upsell, I was really happy with the results. We were moving into beautiful new place, but the rugs looked awful. There were water stains all over the place. Two super nice guys showed up and got the job done right. I really didn't expect them to be able to get this old, worn down rug so clean. So for that, it was worth the price we paid and I'd hire them again. UPDATE: Reducing my four-stars to three stars because we did hire them again a few months later after we got a puppy who we're housebreaking. Even though this time we identified our one room as three so that they didn't haggle us, we still were pressured to try their grout cleaning services and buy new door mats from them (seriously?). Origial quote was honored; yes they did suggestive sell on other items...but what business doesn't try?? First up sell was a deorderizer...too much; tech then took our the hallway and stairs and got it to a reasonable price. My wife call Stanley Steemer using their 800 Number, told them what she wanted done was given a price to do the work (since we have used them in the past) ... they were scheduled for today 11/09. I took the day off, spent the morning emptying the rooms of loose furniture and waited for their approval. My wife called them this morning and add one additional rug and lower level stairway. She was given a new price of $351.00, she called me to advise me of amount. A two man crew arrived and asked me to show them the job and areas to be cleaned. I walked them through the rooms only to have him immediately take out his tape measure to measure rugs. I told him we had an agreed upon price for this work of $359 ... he told me no he had not given me that price and it would be more. I called my wife put her on the phone with this guy who told her the price was incorrect and he need to measure as he will be charging a per square foot price. I could not take any more of this scammer and told him to leave my home. He delayed his exiting telling me how he had treated me pleasantly and did not appreciate my abruptness ( I am irate at this point) and told him in no kind terms to Get Out of My House ... They were supposed to come on Monday. On Sunday, a representative from Stanley Steemer called and left a message that they gave me the wrong price and the shower would be separate. I took advantage of the 3 rooms for $99 special that was offered in their TV ads. I'm putting my house of the market next week. I needed the rugs looking as good as possible. I was told they'd move the large pieces of furniture and left the crew alone as I worked in my upstairs office. They seemed to finish fairly quickly. The carpets looked good and I THOUGHT they did a good and thorough job. The next day the house stager arrived. She immediately decided that the couch in the TV room needed to be moved to our front living room. Imagine our surprise. The couch HADN'T BEEN MOVED the day before. It was filthy under there and wasn't cleaned. Seriously? Do I need to baby sit the cleaning crew?! I called and asked them to send a different crew to do the job right. I asked for something for the inconvenience and trouble thinking it was the least they could do. They offered a half price sofa cleaning but only if I paid full price to have a chair cleaned! Stanley Steemer a rip off and big disappointment. My dog got very sick all over first floor of house. Hardwoods. I mean all over. 3 hour job, including carpet on second floor untouched by dog. Oh, and $962.00 later. Thought they did a good job until I went to plug in lamp and found dried dog feces behind couch. They sent out a second crew who did a quick "let's shut this lady up" touch up clean. Left puddle on floor, and left wet footprint marks all over floor. I am not confident floor was cleaned thoroughly, at all. 2nd crew said 1st tech was the best they had. Well, asses, sometimes your techs don't do a great job. I called Stanley Steemer to speak with manager. I was told I'd get a call back with 48 hours. Never received a return call. Making matters worse, I have a power recliner couch no longer working subsequent to their cleaning job. Furniture company coming to look at it, but not until mid-January. I don't know what they did to it (a short?) and will have no recourse. $962 way too much money. Small house. After all said and done, I do not feel floor was thoroughly cleaned. Sub par job. Unprofessional 2nd crew. No followup response from management. Shop around for other companies to get your moneys worth. Given the urgency of the need to clean, I went with first company I called. I had Stanley Steamer for the first time to clean the carpets in 3 bedrooms, clean and color grout the tile in the kitchen, and main bathroom. It was a nightmare, while they did a good job on the carpets ( they weren't really dirty) they left a color grout haze all over the kitchen and dining area tile and on the bathroom tile with some haze going up the wall. You could even see their footprints in the haze on the floor. They left my kitchen sink and faucet dirty with the haze over the sink and faucet and some waste in the bathroom toilet. I also had them do the hardwood floor in my living room and hallway which they left streaked. They cracked a tile in my kitchen and scratched my car. I called after they left about the haze left on the tile as I could not check it before they left because the floor wasn't dry yet. They sent out the fix it team/tile specialist the next morning. It took them hours to fix the kitchen tile and bathroom tile essentially taking off what they did and redoing it. They had to come back Monday morning to fix the hardwood floor. Again it took hours to redo the floor. The fix-it team did a great job if only it had been done correctly the first time without any damage. It took three days to get this job done very stressful and on Monday when I called because the team wasn't there yet I was told my window was from 8 AM to 6 PM. That's ridiculous, after having to finally get upset with the woman on the phone they came out right away. The one star is for the fix it fix it team as they did a wonderful job. Can't say that for the initial team as they did in awful job. I haven't heard yet what they are going to do about my cracked tile. read more

We had significant stains in our rugs and on our carpeted stairs. We were sold a bill of good when the two nice gentlemen showed up, ready to make them look brand new again. This was two days ago and our rug is still soaking wet! The stains are showing through on the upholstered chairs they tried to clean. The carpeted area I needed done was relatively small (maybe smaller than the previous reviewer),... but a living room, hallway, and stairs where (between the previous owners and our now housebroken puppy) there were a lot of stains. There was an up-sell component to their visit for sure (for me, it was the stairs), but definitely something I wanted to do anyway (stairs are the first thing you see when you come in the house) and something I could have said no to if I didn't want to be up-sold. So... I'm not really going to dock any points. It IS their job. IF I'd had to pay for three "living rooms" just to get my one done, that would have ticked me off... so I do see the previous reviewers point. That said, the two gentlemen who came to the house were super friendly, explained their services and the costs associated, and above all, did a GREAT job quickly. I seriously didn't think our carpet could look as good as it does. For me, it's the cost that keeps my review from being 5 star.... but for something to occasionally freshen up the house, I think they did a great job! NOTE: if you plan to clean your carpet because of a special visit or event, I recommend getting the carpet cleaned a few days beforehand instead of day-of or day-before. I was a first time carpet cleaner, so I didn't realize how wet/damp my carpet would be. Give yourself several days buffer (everything should be mostly dry in about 10 hours, but another few days is better). read more
