Used to live down the street from Standard and it quickly became a favorite. Can't go wrong with any selection, but if you like sours you will be in for a treat. Food is newish but also delicious. The beer is meh, the food is meh, and the staff are rude and uninspiring. I have gone here tons of times because it is the only brewery in the neighborhood... every time I leave frustrated they are the only brewery in the neighborhood. My partners take on the place is they just don't like customers. Bad customer service seems to be the theme in the reviews here. They also have a very selectively enforced covid policy which leaves one wondering if they are actually interested in keeping anyone safe. (I actually had a card ripped out of my hand and put into the hand of a guy walking in off the street skipping the long line who seemed to be a friend of the bartender). No dogs allowed and super expensive for what you get. I wish one of the better run breweries like Perihelion or Crucible would claim this spot. If you are in the neighborhood skip this place and instead spend your money at Reckless or the BBQ joint where they appreciate customers and provide a pleasant experience. read more

I stopped by on a Sunday to check out this spot - it's a nice neighborhood brewery with a patio. There's a TV so we watched the Seahawks game and enjoyed the beers - lots of tasty IPAs and a nice Belgian pale ale called Vercingetorix. The food was tasty too, I got the special, which was a ground beef and onion sandwich, kind of like a way better White Castle, plus a pretzel with cheese sauce. Just had my first sandwich at Standard and it was delicious. I ordered the vegan The Thumb is Long and however they cooked the tofu is amazing the consistency and flavor was delicious. My partner ordered the The Back Nine and loves it and said "delightfully filling and well portioned"! Also the bread is really delicious!!!! This Central District brewery is such a gem for the neighborhood. They have a great selection of beers, but they should really be talking up their cocktail menu and food selection more! We were pleasantly surprised when we ordered cocktails and food and they turned out amazing. There is a small food counter at the end of the bar where the chef has a lot of fun with the menu and is constantly trying out new things. The night we went, the chalkboard special advertised a Pizza Puff and a jazzed up instant noodle ramen. Intrigued, I asked the chef what the instant noodle dish was like and he told me that he basically takes a package of Maruchan instant noodle, throws away the spice packet, and then makes his own spicy sauce with sesame oil, chili oil, and some other crazy magic unicorn stuff. It was delicious! We gobbled up the noodles in no time. As for the pizza puff, it came out like a giant fried Totino's Pizza roll with sausage and pepperoni on the inside. As a 90's kid, my love for Totino's Pizza Rolls runs deep and this pizza puff was such a delightful treat. Similarly, we gobbled up this giant pizza roll in no time as well. This place is the definition of a nano-brewery as Justin (the owner) does everything. He's done a great job with the space and produces an impressive variety of beer. There's a small patio out front with a newly installed ledge for beverages and a few chairs. A five star rating for Standard Brewing? Yep, and I'm adding it to the average, cumulative rating average with no hesitation. Although SB can be defined as a brewery in the traditional sense, don't walk in here thinking about brew tours or extensive tasting rooms. No, just think about quality, local micro-brews served by a personable founder and, if you're lucky, while sitting outside in the warm sun (yes, I realize this is Seattle and I said sun, but you take it when you can get it!). Honestly, need I say more? Not really, but give me another sec. All beers can be purchased via a growler or pint glass. Also, 5 oz. samplers are only $2, so I made sure to try the Cascadian Dark Ale, Belgian Black Ale, Altbier, Wheated Red and finally the sweet, but delicious, Bee's Wine Ginger Beer while relaxing on their front patio with some of the other visitors. This used to be kind of a special neighborhood gathering place, and then they made it dog and kid unfriendly in an apparent effort to make it like every other cookie cutter brew pub. If you want to know their attitude towards customers, just look at the rude responses to negative reviews on this site. It's not a good look, although they don't seem to realize it. Fell in love with this place when we walked in! Simple decor, cozy and warm, small menu - which to me means to me that they've perfected every item on it, and boy was I right! We tried the IPA, Pale Ale, TEPACHE (yes - that's Mexican Pineapple Beer, totally amazing - much like a cider!) and Traditional Ginger Beer (that means it's alcoholic and delicious, obviously). Everything was perfection, and Justin was lovely and wonderful to chat with. The menu is ever changing with a couple of staples. We left with two growlers, one of the Tepache and the IPA, a little something for everyone! Standard Brewing is exactly what Seattle needs - excellent beer, without anyone pretentious making or drinking the stuff. Highly recommended! read more

I love standard brewing. WHY?? Because they sell growlers (32 oz) for $11-15 bucks each that you can take home. SO CHEAP. Standard brewing is the most humble, cute and quaint beer place ever. West coast IPA is BOMB. Imperial IPA also does not disappoint. Each beer is delicious and you can tell that each is made by love. Definitely stop by. DO IT because the stop is worth it. read more

Excellent local nano-brewery! It's just what the Central District needed. Justin (the owner) is awesome and always helpful with information about their beers. All the beers are really tasty and they often have a unique variety on tap if you want to try something different. If its nice out, be sure to take advantage of their new patio outside. Otherwise their little indoor area is cozy but has certainly held my groups of 5 or 6 before. No problem! Hours are limited so be sure to check their webpage before you go. First let me say that I love Standard's beer. It has been my go to brewery since they opened. The beer deserves 5 stars but as an establishment it gets a 3. I just had a baby and I wanted to go to my spot but they no longer allow people under 21 or dogs. I realize this has been in effect for about a year now but it's now my reality. I completely understand there are laws surrounding the addition of food and liquor and types of licenses but I feel like they are alienating a huge population being a neighborhood brewery that previously allowed dogs and children. It is the brewery's right to make whichever decisions they need to make for their business but it simply goes against brewery culture. I want to see Standard continue to do well but sadly I wont be there to enjoy it. it Seems like Chucks hop shop, Wood Shop BBQ, and Twighlight Exit will be my best options. read more

Just went for the first time. Wanted to get a couple of growlers for a party, but not knowing what to get I asked for a taste (I'm thinking like half an ounce) of one of them. Standard is my favorite place to spend an afternoon or evening in the CD. I go for the friendly/efficient staff, superb food (the chef is a flavoring genius--I just had the most delicious chicken taco of my life, after having had many a tasty sandwich there in the past), perfect ambience, full bar, and the best COVID-safety/comfort setup of any other place I've been in Seattle. Their patio heaters are well spread out and mighty, and there's a projector/screen for special events and some sports games. Inside there's a TV but it's placed so you can easily ignore it if you prefer. I hope they continue to survive the pandemic--I feel lucky to have them in my neighborhood! read more

We were recommended this brewery by locals while downing a flight at another brewery. We decided to take their word for it and stop by, and I'm glad we did! There wasn't a beer I didn't enjoy. It's a small place with limited indoor seating. However, it was a beautiful day, so we opted to sit outside on the patio and share a table (and good conversation) with a stranger while loving on fellow customers' pups. read more

We finally went to standard brewing yesterday and it was exactly what we expected. The bartender was super nice and they made Sarah a gin cocktail and I had the lager. As mentioned by others, Standard is going through a massive expansion. They have more outdoor seating - with a heat lamp as well. Yet, it's still lacking indoor seating - for now. Try both the Cascadian Dark Ale and the Ginger Beer (made with actual ginger). The CDL is both smooth and sneaks up on you. The Ginger Beer has a solid bite to it, but is refreshing on a hot day. read more

Laid back brews. Standard Brewing is small, but offers great beer brewed on-site and a nice, outdoor patio. The order counter is right next to the brewing equipment, so you get a feel for the brewing process. There's ample street parking making it pretty accessible. There's limited indoor seating, but the outdoor patio is spacious and comfortable. The menu is small, but every beer I tried was amazing. The menu includes numbers making it easy to order and concise descriptions so you get a feel for each beer. This takes craft beer to a whole new level. I can't imagine a better summer hangout spot. read more

Incredibly rude and politicized staff. For a city that is suffering from divisive politics and a "us versus them" mentality, not to mention the highest anxiety rate of any major metropolitan area (check out the seattle times article), when I go out with friends to grab a drink and some laughs, I don't need snide political remarks being thrown in. I may have once voted for Bernie and am a democrat but the fact that you assume that I just automatically think its great that you throw in some casual derogatory remark about Florida and "other red states" and will laugh back and agree is exactly what I feel is effed up with society right now. I don't want anybody being criticized - it doesn't make me feel good - it dampens my good vibe and it isn't what I'm going for when I go out. Standard workers should save that for their personal lives please. So after twice having this same experience there, I'm out. If you need a place where they will casually put down "the other side", go for it. If not, head across the street to Reckless Noodles where they know that people looking for a few laughs and a few drinks ain't trying to put other people down. read more

1st time visit yesterday; they were celebrating their 3rd (?) anniversary so pretty busy when we got there. Cool outdoor patio area with heat lamps; only a couple of seats "inside" which is really just a covered area that you order beers in. Good tap list; wife had cider (elemental) so her opinion doesn't count :). I had the Earl (bier de garde) and whatever their saison was; enjoyed both and recommend. Cool vibe, really nice employees, great beer, dog friendly, etc. Definitely worth checking out and already looking forward to next visit to try rest of their line-up! read more

My review of the Standard Brewery does not rise to the level of a high standard for me. My visit last year was with a lady who has lived in the Central District since 1987, I moved to Seattle about 5 years ago. This wonderful woman knows the area and the people in the community very well, she introduced me to the Standard Brewery and we were treated well by Daniel the bartender who is no longer there. We arrived near closing last year, and they were preparing for closure but still serving beer. The lady order a lemon drop because they were still serving but not cocktails, the bartender made that clear with an attitude that doesn't reflect a High Standard low for sure! She later post her experience and was called out publicly last night. I accompanied her twice this year, I was unaware of that situation had escalated into a confrontation last night with me present. I did tell my lady that our last visit was awkward to me because the bartender, did not want to engage us. Now I know why! Her disappointment with the place was something she vocalized outwardly, so the Manager made that apparent last night. For me though it was hard to interpret, I know the Central district is diverse but for me in a interracial relationship I left feeling judged. Now I am not saying race played a role, but when there's is an issue there has to be a more professional Standard approach to reconciliation. So for me the Standard has set a low bar in my opinion! read more

Quick note to address the recent 5 star to 1 star review updates as a result of WSLCB regulations: Rob, it may be unfortunate to you that you can no longer push your stroller into Standard and occupy 1/3 of the patio with your PEPS group pals and proceed to milk your one beer for 2 hours, but I'll suggest an alternative...
