True cheesemonger, very knowledgeable and friendly. Not just simply answering questions yes/no but listening to you and able to have a conversation about choices. Not stuck up but also not over-eager. Great selection, quite robust. Appreciate there is no order weight minimum, so it's easy to try small amounts of new things. They sell baguettes but can't recall vendor. They have Lioni mozz in the back which tells you they know, and are, the right people. This is where I'd go to try new items, easily.

Hard to find true cheese stores these days but this is one of them. They have a lot of cheeses which I know little about. They also have some premade sandwiches which I do know about. The proscuitto and mozzarella one was a nice snack. Bread is good but a little chewy. Hard to bite into. They are mini sandwiches with barely any meat or cheese fyi. Nice snack. Would I come back for a sandwich? Probably not. If I need specialty cheeses... sure.

Amazing cheese spot, great selection from around the world. Super fresh, cut off the block and delicious. Will be back to try them all!

Can't get enough of Stand Alone Cheese. Always the best selections for any occasion. I love how their team is always excited to suggest new things to try when I ask. I'm not a fan of blue cheese and now I am in love with the "mild" blue they suggested I tried during the holidays lol. Also, pick up their pistachio apricot crackers to go with your meats and cheese... they're the best!!!!

My two sandwiches: ham & butter and the other salami, prosciutto, ham

It smells like stinky old cheese, but it honors the name. The sandwiches are great. Just reheat in the oven, because they are given to you out of the fridge and are cold. I ordered the ham & butter as well as the prosciutto, salami, ham sandwich. Both were super delicious. I also bought a jar of Giardiniera (veggies soaked in vinegar) and also eggplant parmesan tomato sauce. They have other types of gift type items as well as cured European meats. There are tons of things think like for a picnic. The people working here are friendly and welcoming.

I did not know about this place until I started yelping cheese shops. During this time, I'm really trying to go to the small local businesses around my area, and I'm really happy that I found this place. I stopped by, and the store is small but cute. We were not allowed in, all orders were taken via online for pick up or you just order at the door (which is what I did). Order online, it'll make life easier for everyone! With that being said, the owner was super cool, very patient, and really helped me out with recommending cheeses. They have so many cheeses! Local and international, great prices, and a pretty large selection. Stop by if you're in the neighborhood!

I love my neighborhood cheese shop, so many selections and the seller is so patient, took his time to describes the type of cheese he had in the shop and let me taste them before purchasing.

What a knowledgeable staff and wonderful selection of cheeses, meats, and condiments. My favorites were ossau iraty cheese and hot sopressata out of the 4 cheeses and meats I tried. I also liked the chocolate covered figs. Can't wait to go back and try more. The online ordering makes it super convenient.

When you do manage to show up during their elusive open hours, you're greeted by... well, "greeted" is generous. The staff makes you feel like you interrupted their private cheese cult meeting. Don't expect warm conversation -- unless you're the cheddar. There are free samples, which I respect. If you're feeling broke and brave, you could turn it into a little snack crawl. And the cheese? It's fine. Not bad. Not transcendent. Just... cheese. Maybe you'll find something aged and interesting, or maybe you'll walk out wondering if Trader Joe's would've hit the same for less. Verdict: Free samples Absurd hours Staffed by dairy gatekeepers Cheese that says "eh," not "ooh"

This class just did not need the standards of other classes I've gone to. The reason I gave this 3-stars is because what you get for $100 is just not worth the price, plus the final product was inedible. The class consists of giving you flour and eggs to make the pasta, then roll it (which was super rushed), a "cheese tasting" (three tiny portions of cheese with some pesto) and unlimited wine (sparking white and red). You then bring the pasta home to cook it (with the instructions to use a fork if you haven't had enough time to roll your dough, which some didn't). I made the pasta when I got home and it was completely inedible as was the person's I went with. The instructor was nice and the room is beautiful, which is why I added a few stars. They're also great about making sure that your wine is filled up. Overall, I would not recommend for this price, especially when the end product was a throwaway.

There are also blocks/rounds of cheese you can purchase too. We got The Casa, and ate it outside. Service was so kind and we even got to see them make mozzarella in the back! I don't think this sandwich was my favorite unfortunately. The bread had a funky smell(?) to it, and I feel like it fell a little flat on flavors and textures. Ambiance: 5/5 The space is definitely tight -- you'll have to go single file to get in and out -- but it's homey in the best way. Watching them make your sandwich and fresh mozzarella in real time adds to the charm. Food Highlights: I got the Italian combo, which came with a thick slice of fresh mozzarella that was practically dripping, paired with generous portions of deli meats. Add in a perfectly crunchy hero roll, and it was the perfect lunch. Overall: A classic Little Italy stop. Simple, fresh, and worth every bite.

It was dead empty with the exception of one person waiting for their to-go order, and entire time I was sitting there eating and drinking, only three other customers came in. I walked up to the counter to see what the food options were (the onigiri is on display in a case, kinda like a deli shop), and the drink menu is up hanging up high in small print behind the counter. The cashier asked me immediately what I wanted and I told him I was still looking at the menu; he told me to call him over once I was ready so he didn't have to stand. Once I ordered, he asked me if I have cash and asked if they were cash only to which he said yes. Side note: if a shop is cash only, signs should be posted in multiple areas (on the door, at the counter, etc.), and this place did not have any signs. I got the salmon onigiri and a hot lemon ginger honey tea and it came to $8. The tea is from those pre-made jars that you can purchase at any Asian market. The onigiri was very tasty and the rice was very soft. One of the better ones I've had in NYC. After I ordered, I saw a "no laptops" sign tucked away in the corner. So there went my plans of working in a quiet shop, though I did hop on a zoom meeting for an hour on my phone. I made it work. This is a cute spot for grab-and-go, though the service could use improvement. And considering there are no customers, I don't know why there's no laptop rule.

The owner said he only makes a certain amount for the day and once they run out, he doesn't make more. I had the calamari sandwich and the pork sandwich. Both very tasty but a bit overpriced for my opinion. $10 for a pork sandwich seems a bit much. They really need to update the online menu because it says $5 on it so was quite shocked when I got there and saw the price. All in all, it is a nice place to visit with great staff and yummy food but with that price, won't be going as often as I would like.
