My then fiance and I worked with an artist to create a custom monogram which we used (and continue to use) on EVERYTHING. The dies for our invitation suite were hand engraved and, once they were cleaned, we had them framed. I love the way they look hanging up! I'm really glad we heeded Henri's advice and ordered 'extra' thank you notes that we continue to use. The price was a bit steep, on par with Mrs. John L. Strong or Smythson, but we decided that we would put the money there rather than in other places and it was completely worth it. We continue to get compliments (about a year later) and look forward to working with them again on birth announcements!

(After calling lots & lots of jewelers & engravers listed on Yelp earlier this past week, I discovered that all of the Manhattan engravers on Yelp tend to either only work one or two days of the week at a jeweler's, or their hours are in complete conflict with my work hours--ie, only M-F, 9am-5pm, when I can't take off of work just to get something engraved). As my friend's birthday was looming, & I wanted to personalize her gift, I was getting desperate. I called Ben Moses Jewelers in the Diamond District, because they had a good review on Yelp--the guy there told me that although they only have an engraver one or two days a week, he kindly suggested that I try Tony, in booth #275. I called Tony at 10:30 on Saturday morning, told him I needed about 7 words engraved on a small metal antique, and he said come on by. I figured I'd have to rush down there to get it to him in the morning, in order to leave enough time for him to get the work done before he closed at 4pm, but when I got there, he said he could do the work immediately. We talked about font options, he showed me a few examples of what it would look like on his computer, popped the item in his engraver, and 5 minutes later, a beautiful inscription was added to my antique. The price was FANTASTIC, he didn't charge me a rush fee because he wasn't backed up with other work, and he even gave me a free gift box for the engraved item. I don't know if he only does jewelry & small items, or if he also could engrave larger items, but he is DEFINITELY worth contacting for your engraving needs. Super nice guy, great work, 100% satisfied customer.
