I did my laundry here twice, as I often end up needing to do laundry when I'm in Manhattan on long stretches, which honestly involve sleeping in the car if Barbie's not with me, because I'm trying to save money. Overall it's a good spot to do laundry, but the prices have gone up significantly in the last few years, probably since the customers have become more hipster and more wealthy. **** I accidentally wrote 2 reviews for this... so here's the other. I dropped my laundry out of a plane while flying over Manhattan. So where did the Laundry Land? On 1st Avenue, of course. Right here... at this wash-n-dry facility. I used this laundromat on many occasions when I was sleeping in lower Manhattan for a short time (in my car, shut up don't judge), but these days I only come here if I'm traveling and desperately need some clean clothes, and honestly New York isn't the best place to do that. But it wasn't too horribly expensive considering it was in Manhattan, but I heard it's closed down. I hope it's not true, but I have a feeling it is true, and that would be a shame. read more

The owners I believe that work here are always so attentive and are ready to key you in so that your laundry cycle starts. You don't need to bring any quarters cause they key you in for each cycle. Don't Go Here. They are using this laundromat as a commercial laundry facility and do not care about the customers who are there to do their laundry. I have been using this laundry facility for 2.5 years with no issue. A few months ago they starting doing laundry for FlyCleaners and a couple of other wash and fold services. Now the laundromat is completely overrun with laundry for these companies making it nearly impossible to do your own laundry there. If you go in on a Tuesday mid-morning, there will be no washers available. If you do get a washer - you definitely won't find an open dryer afterward. If you are somehow lucky enough to be able to wash and dry your clothes, there is a high potential that if you leave for a few minutes - they will take your clothes out of the dryer and stick them in a bag regardless of if they are still wet or not. Today, I waited for a washing machine and then I waited for a dryer. I then left for a work call and returned ten minutes after the dryer turned off. When I returned, my clothes were not in the dryer I left them in. They were shoved into a bag, still wet and very wrinkled - so I had to wait again for a dryer to open up so I could put my clothes back into it and finish drying them. It's already hard enough to lug your laundry around town - this just makes it so much worse. read more

I came on an afternoon before Christmas Eve hoping to do my laundry and was turned away. Their last wash was at 3:45 and I got there at 4 pm. Initially I had used this laundromat a few weeks ago before a fire they had. I spoke to the gentlemen and he said "I have a few loads I have to do" and I was unable to do my 1 load wash. I then had to walk 4-5 blocks to the nearest self service laundromat. I was disappointed that he couldn't accommodate me and the last wash was in the afternoon? I've been using laundry land wash and fold for over 3 years now. When I first started using their services I was hesitant as I had always done my own laundry in the past, and am very particular. While they were always reliable, since new management took over I have been incredibly impressed with the quality of services. The space is clean, my laundry is always done in a very timely fashion, and I'm never disappointed with the final product. In 3 years I have had only one item lost (dry cleaning), and I was reimbursed within 24 hours. But most importantly, the staff is kind, unbelievably hard working, and clearly care about their customers. I would highly recommend laundry land! read more

If I could give this location a -5 stars I would. I have been using this laundromat for 10 years as a self service customer. When the Chinese owners sold.. Everything started going downhill. Not that it was a upward climb before. Their machine breaks constantly. And worst of all... they have a sign to let you know if they take self service or drop off only. I went last week when they had their "self service" sign up. And of course... they said they didn't have any water... yet they had water to do drop off... how does that work? After few years of putting up with Chinese rudeness, I decided to give it another chance when the new owners arrive. But now it is clear that they don't care about us neighborhood users. TERRIBLE PLACE. I've been getting my clothes washed and folded here for a some time now (almost one year I want to say) and recently, they've gotten terrible at getting my stuff to me on time. I always get my stuff picked up and delivered since I live across the FDR bridge and don't want to drag my 15 lb bag of laundry to their place. I always call in the morning and they tell me that they'll pick up at around 11:30am/12pm which is fine since I have a dooman and can simply leave my bag with them. I also always tell them to have my clothes delivered around 6pm. For the past few times, they've been incredibly late to the point that I will have to call in again around 7pm to check on the status and then they'll tell me it'll be delivered in an hour or so. I mean, some of my clothes are time sensitive since I need them for an event later that night or whatever so it was starting to get really annoying to wait 2+ extra hours every single time just to get my clothes delivered. However, I brushed it off because they do a decent job on my clothes and being late isn't the most terrible thing that can happen. HOWEVER, the last ordeal was simply too much. I called, as usual, yesterday morning to have them pick up and deliver my clothes. They tell me, sure 11:30am. I'm at work, as always, so I can't check to see if they actually pick up my clothes but when I got home around 6:30pm, my doorman told me that THEY DIDNT EVEN COME. At that point, I called in and they told me that no one had requested a pick up but they will come right away (within the hour!). Fine whatever. They also told me that it will be delivered tomorrow morning (today) by 10am. It's 12:30pm now and I JUST got my clothes after calling them 3x. Again, they told me that no one requested it to be delivered at 10am and when I called again at 11:30am, the guy was quite rude and told me he doesn't even know when the delivery guy will come back. When I first called at 10:45am, he told me it will be delivered within 40 minutes. I basically waited ONE AND A HALF DAY to get my clothes with multiple ordeals between. It's so ridiculous that the communication they have within the laundromat is essentially NONEXISTENT. No one talks to each other and nothing gets done in a timely manner. I can't continue relying on an unprofessional place and this time they didn't even offer to discount the price for being incredibly late. read more

I started doing my laundry here last year and have been pretty pleased overall. Now they aren't allowing self service anymore. The "drop off only" sign is up all the time. A few times I've come by with a cart full of laundry they've let me do it out of pity (and there were open machines...), but today I was running errands and went in to ask "what is going on?" I had plans to do laundry later. I was told "we don't do self service anymore." What? Ok sooooo take "self service" off of your store front! I'm super frustrated! This used to be one of the nicer places to do laundry in my neighborhood. Ive lived a block away for almost 20 years and they were always pleasant to do business with. This however has changed over the last year as it seems that theyve been bought out by a new conpany and nowmcater almost exclusively to an on-line app for wash and fold service. Heres what ive found: 1) There are almost never washers or dryers open for general use. They are always in use by the store for their wash and fold service. 2) Even if you do get a washer or dryer their machines are terrible. Ive had to rewash clothing because the water that is in use makes them smell terrible and their dryers are so utterly weak take about 2 dollars in quarters just to dry a small load (maybe). 3) Their store is completely cluttered. 4) They have moved their seating outside on tue sidewalk where you can take your chances of sitting diwn next to a random homeless person who has decided to crash on their bench for an afternoon nap. Id rather that they just got rid of the seating in general, this is kind of offensive for their customers. Their service people are rather nice and patient. I really do wish that they decided to completely get rid of the do-it-yourself washing machines for wakk in customers. The way that theyve set up their new business makes me think that they do not value your patronage amd for that reason i now take my laundry to be washed and folded elsewhere (since they were literally the last walk in laundrymat in the neighborhood i have no other choice but to pay extra to get wash and fold service). I will not do business with them again and i dont recommend that you do either. read more

Unfortunately a zero star rating is not possible. I had been using their wash and fold and dry cleaning services for the past eight months and was generally satisfied with their services. However, both of my past two orders, a wash and fold order and a dry cleaning order, were returned back to me with missing items. The attendants told me to keep checking back with them for a few days after I picked up the items to see if they were simply behind on completing the order, but a week later my items were still missing. They simply noted that they most likely delivered my items to a different customer by mistake, which I find hard to believe as I am missing a light grey pair of jeans, two white t shirts, a white henley and a pair of suit pants (which essentially leaves me without an entire suit). I emailed the email address that the attendants gave me and explained the situation and have yet to hear back regarding a refund. I would strongly discourage anyone from using their services, and it is appalling to me that they still have not gotten back to me about rectifying their horrendous mistake. Wish I could give this place a good review because they were pretty decent at first, but sadly I can't because they're never open for self service anymore, which I need for certain items (sheets, blankets, throw rugs, delicates I don't dry, baby clothes I don't dry, etc.). Last year I moved next door to this laundromat and was thrilled because my building doesn't have any laundry. I have used both their wash and fold service and the self service laundry machines. I will say their wash and fold service is probably 3-4 stars. My clothes have been cleaned well and well folded. Sometimes they're able to return your wash and fold the next day at no extra charge which is nice. The problem is with their self service. During the summer I could usually find a machine or two to do my own laundry, while sometimes having to wait a bit (and it's always a wait for dryers). The place is always busy with the attendants doing commercial laundry loads and thus tons of commercial laundry all around (many giant bags of dirty and clean laundry being constantly transported in and out) so it's hard to maneuver inside - seriously cramped. But due to the convenient location and being open later than some laundromats (usually until 10pm), I dealt and it was fine. They hang a sign on the door to indicate if they're currently allowing self service or if not and to come back later. Beginning a few months ago, the sign saying "drop off service only - come back later to check for self service machines" has been up about 95% of the time, no matter if it's a weekday or weekend, no matter what time of day. I walk by several times each day and it constantly says no self service available. For my washable clothes I've just dealt by using their wash and fold service. But I really need to use self service for certain items and haven't been able to since they've had the "no self service" sign up constantly, which is super frustrating. I need to wash certain items myself so I can't use wash and fold for them, like sheets, blankets, comforters, delicates I don't dry, baby clothes I don't dry, washable coats & jackets, throw rugs, etc. There isn't another laundromat nearby that's walkable, so I have a couple hampers full of that kind of stuff just waiting for Laundry Land to have the blessed sign "self service available" up, but honestly it's been like a week since I even saw the sign up so I am worried it's never going to be available again. I think I'm going to have to get an Uber to take me to another laundromat that has self service, which is so ridiculous. Also, the last time I even saw the sign up it was around 10:10pm, when the place had closed for the night. But all day and night when I had walked by (several times as I was home the whole day) they had the "no self service" available, right up to about 9:50pm. So I'm thinking they never had the "self service" sign up all day until after they closed. I truly wonder if self service is never available anymore because the workers just don't want to deal with self service customers - and thus the management/owners don't know about this. Or if it's actually a directive from management to keep the place closed to self service. Whatever their plans are for the business going forward I wish they would communicate it to the neighborhood. It would also be FANTASTIC if they allowed neighbors in the immediate vicinity to do self service even when they have the "no self service" sign up. Even say just the residents on the exact block where the laundromat is located. We could show proof of address and be permitted to do a few loads of self service. That would be extremely helpful and appreciated. I mean I honestly live next door a couple flights up overlooking the store, and I deal with the noise of their delivery/pickup trucks and employees all day long until very late (midnight or 1am). I understand they're focusing on commercial laundry business but I wish they would also offer regular self service to the neighborhood given we live here and need it. Maybe have some specific days and times the machines are made available so neighbors can plan and be able to count on some self service availability? Hope the owners/management see these reviews about self service and fix things so machines are made available more frequently or just end self service altogether because it's a huge pain it's never available anymore. read more

Don't Go Here. Ever. I've been using this laundromat to do my laundry for about 10 years and up until about 8 months ago its always been fine. Sure, it gets busy on the weekends but that's expected. It's always been local people just doing their wash. Now, it's been bought out by a commercial laundry company and it's gone completely downhill. You go in and EVERY SINGLE WASHER is taken. Yet there's maybe 1 other non worker doing laundry. So the workers use up every single washer so no one else can use them. Mind you, the washers aren't running. They are just sitting there done. But no one empties them so the regular people can't do laundry. Then maybe you can get one of the small washers if you are lucky. But then good luck drying your clothes because the workers have all the dryers in use. I don't understand why this place is open to the public, if the public can't use it. If you advertise as "open", it should truly be open to everyone, not being run commercially. I would be interested to know if it is legal to run a commercial cleaning service in that space, because it's pretty clear that's what they are doing. Also, I have seen cockroaches on more then one occasion crawling out from the back of the washers. This place is so dirty, if you drop a piece of clothing on the floor you might as well throw it out. I wish a more accessible laundromat would open up, but until then I will be avoiding this place at all costs. read more

As other long time self-service customers have mentioned, it's a nightmare trying to wash your own laundry at this particular location. I would have inherently understood their natural evolution into a drop-off ONLY location instead of yo-yoing with their self-service on and off. After several attempts, my patience finally reached its final straw when there was conveniently no water available while their other machines were up and running all while having to wait close to an hour aimlessly. On the occasion where things were running normally, their dryers were completely hijacked. I'm quite aware the owner mentioned that machines would be available as soon as you ask politely, but matters are not helped when staffers do so with an attitude or disdain for being bothered to begin with. This is the WORST experience I have ever had with a laundry service in both Manhattan and Brooklyn alike. My laundry was deliver 8 HOURS later than the time selected. I called 5 times and every time they told me it would be there shortly. No one cared or had any urgency to figure out or tell me why my belongings were being kept from delivery. My clothes were all delivered and weren't damaged or anything of the sort. They all smelled clean and were folded nicely, however, I did pay extra for a specific detergent and laundry sheets so I wouldn't have minded if they would have smelled a little stronger. My only issue with this is the pick-up and delivery times. I can only say if you have somewhere to be and are expecting a pick-up or delivery on time, you'd probably be in trouble. I live a block away and my pick-up time was over an hour late. I had to call twice. My delivery time was between 9-10 pm. And while it was about 9:30, I feel it was only because I called right around then to confirm they were delivering my clothes. Other than that I was happy with the service! read more

I've come here for both the drop-off laundry service AND the dry-cleaning. I've been impressed in both cases. They fold your laundry neatly and everything smells nice. They also do it within 24 hours AND take requests (I asked for them to wash it in cold water). The pricing for the dry-cleaning is competitive and my work clothes came back in perfect condition. I do self service here regularly and have generally been happy with the price, machines and staff. It is much better than the alternatives in the area. However, the staff will sometimes use nearly all machines - not just the service only machines - for their wash & fold and Flycleaners. This is very inconsiderate to those doing self service. If they can't accommodate customers, then they shouldn't advertise this as an option. read more

These guys are great. They almost always can pick up my laundry in 20 min or less. I can send them almost everything I own for wash/dry and it's never more than $30-35 and they do a great job. Go somewhere else if you plan on coming here for self-service. Their dryers are old. They are either out of order or run on low heat even on the highest setting. The washing machines charge less than the place on 21st, but the money you think you're saving goes to the dryers. I had an incident where my clothes were damp after 42 minutes on high heat. I had to call the manager over to switch machines and get a refund. The change machine sometimes does not work and just takes your bill without dispensing any change. There is not enough folding space for self-service customers. The blue folding tables are never cleaned. There are grease and drink stains everywhere. Don't waste your time and money here. read more

I thought I had found a solution to all my dry cleaning problems. But one out of every three times, I won't get back all the items I deposited the few days before. Instead, I will have to go back into their stock and try to hunt down my clothes or have to have them call their warehouse. Around here, this is one of the best wash and fold/ dry cleaning places around. However, the organization is severely lacking. This has been the only place I have done my laundry at since moving into the neighborhood about 4 years ago. The staff is very friendly - and great service options at very reasonable prices. I typically drop off my laundry for wash and fold before going to work in the morning, and when I come by after work, it's always ready! Also good for dry cleaning service and prices are very fair. I felt like he genuinely cared about keeping our business (which in NYC, is not always a given). ORIGINAL REVIEW: Hubby and I sent out laundry for return delivery between 7pm-8pm. At 5:30pm, we called because they only charged for half our laundry weight -- we were informed they lost two of our bags but they would look for them. Got a call back at 7:15pm; they found our laundry but they mixed it with someone else's laundry in our complex and we would need to sort it out ourselves and contact the person to get pick it up from us. Oh and ETA was now 8pm-9pm. We call at 9:15pm looking for our laundry. New ETA 9:45pm. Call at 9:50pm, new ETA 10:15. Laundry closes. Delivery comes after 11pm and, lucky gal that I am, I got to sort through some guys dedicates to figure out which were his and which were my husband's underoos! I send out so I don't have to fold laundry (my most hated chore)... Thanks Laundry Land! Not only did I get to sort two sets of laundry, I got to refold it too! read more

I'm not certain that they should be considered a laundromat anymore. Within the past year they have steadily taken on more and more commercial clients ie. FlyCleaners and some hotel or gym, and it is impossible to do a load of laundry. It should have been a sign to move on when they removed the seats to put in a new desk in the front for their FlyCleaners service. Every time I walk in there nearly every machine is filled with white towels, their coin machine barely works, and it is impossible to even move around with all of their laundry bags scattered amongst the floor. I live across the street and on occasion like to use their large machines for certain items. When I arrived the staff had commandeered all the extra large machines! Before this laundry was bought out by Laundry Land it was a mom & pop operation that was clean and well maintained. Since Laundry Land is a service most of their customers probably never set foot in the laundry location. As a result they do not bother to keep the place clean and orderly. The floors were disgusting along with the folding tables some of which have been removed and the remaining tables are taken by the staff. This is certainly no longer your friendly neighborhood operation... I wouldn't entrust them with my laundry. read more

*UPDATED* Unexpectedly very impressed and happy. The management wrote back today and they are getting rid of the additional hang dry fee. Obviously it would be best if this never happened, but it did, and they are taking care of it. Like other reviews noted, it is quite impressive that the owner is extremely responsive. He really did go above and beyond in addressing my complaint. Great work and thank you again for listening. I really appreciate it and will remain a loyal customer. Rarely do I ever leave a 5 star review or any review of that matter. I ONLY have my laundry done here. Great prices, friendly and responsive staff, nothing is ever missing (even my black socks) and most importantly nothing ever is shrunk. I can't tell you how many laundry places I've been to do wash and fold and they always shrink my clothes regardless of what I tell them. Laundry Land listens. I'm very pleased.
