Used this dry-cleaning place on 2 occasions - I handed her a dress for alteration. She did the alteration and rolled my dress in a plastic bag and stuffed it in a bin wrinkling the dress beyond use. I requested her to steam it and she did but you know what she used? LEFTOVER WATER FROM HER STEAMED BOKCHOY that left my dress smelling like it. I had to take it to another dry-cleaner to clean it out - Year later I gave a white long dress for 'dry cleaning' but this cunning lady hand- washed my dress leaving it smelling full of detergent while still charging me a dry cleaning price. Living in a 6th floor walk-up, I found it to be a chore trekking my laundry multiple blocks away. So, i found this spot, about half a block from my apartment, so I thought it would be a good choice. the good: same day wash and fold nothing lost in the wash very convenient the bad: not friendly staff on the pricier ($1.10 per pound, $10 min) they round up the pricing per pound (see below) unscented detergent Today, they weighed the laundry my laundry when I dropped off and gave me the receipt and when I came to pick up, they added a pound to the price. I asked them if they normally do this and the lady mentioned, "sometimes." Uh, that's not cool. I go here weekly and they also generally round up a pound when they weigh, though it didn't really bother me because I knew the price didn't magically go up. I won't go back in principle. A cozy local mom-and-pop place with a quirky name to take your laundry and dry-cleaning to. But their true SUPER-POWER is mending and fixing your clothes and giving them a second life. They will take on most complex jobs no one else will dare to...they can fix leather or suede things! or even replace zippers!!! Over the years, I've been to many places in the neighborhood, and sometimes those would try to charge so much that there was no choice but to toss the thing away altogether. I'm so happy to finally have found a place that has reasonable prices. They literally have a sign inside that says "We fix anything!" :) And no, it's not a marketing hype. I have taken some pieces there that were super-challenging, and they did a fantastic job, and even used an invisible thread to make my clothes look like new! And last, but not the least, the couple that runs the place is super-sweet. They welcome each customer with warmth and respect. John who is a master tailor from Indonesia,@removed the collar and reversed it. Absolute genius. He saved the shirt. He also altered my suit from Brooks Brothers making it less boxy. Been dropping off my laundry here for wash & fold for months. Same day service as long as I drop off before 10ish AM for very reasonable prices. I separate my delicates and better quality gym clothes that don't go in the dryer beforehand and ask that bag to be washed separate with scented detergent -- everything always comes back very neatly folded and they have never lost or damaged an item! The owners couldn't be nicer, warmer people! I've lived in the East Village for more than 11 years, but only yesterday discovered D & M. I went in yesterday to drop off laundry for pick up today, and had no idea what to expect. The man and woman working there were unfailingly polite, offer competitive prices, and now - today, having picked up my laundry - I can say that they provide an excellent service. Now only was my laundry folded; it was wrapped in a plastic bag. They even put socks in a separate bag! This is a high-quality establishment with excellent service. I will be returning, and I suggest that if you live in the neighborhood and are looking for a great laundry service, avoid Cosmo's and go here - that is, if you're looking to drop off and pick up, as they do not offer the option of washing your clothing yourself. Don't ever go to this place -- they lost my really nice shirt and refused to reimburse me! When I came in to pick up my laundry (numerous times), they kept saying my shirt wasn't ready. 3 weeks later, I went back and found out that they lost my shirt. I lived in the building next to it so convenience was a major factor of me using their services. With that said, you can't go wrong with them. They seem to be family owned and everyone is exceedingly polite and welcoming. They even make sure to say my name when greeting! It's about $1/lb (my load usually ends up being around 20-30 dollars if I haven't done laundry in 2 weeks) and if you drop off your wash and fold laundry from like 7:30-11am ish, you'll get it done by night (6-7:30pm). Everything's cleaned, folded, and put in clear bags to separate different clothing items. They even accept credit card! (After 10-15 dollars I think). I highly recommend them! read more

Quick service (usually same day service for the same price) for wash and fold at relatively competitive prices. I would give this place zero stars if possible. This cleaning service lost 4 of my bras, 2 of my mesh delicates bags that the bras and underwear were supposed to be washed in, and in turn all underwear was destroyed. They lost/ruined over $200 worth of my things and take no responsibility for this. After dealing with this for months, the best they could do was refund me $20 and wash their hands clean of the entire situation. They now claim to have a policy of not being responsible for these types of situations, but this policy should be clearly stated to customers before customers trust them for their services. Desperately wanted to frequent this shop, but their service leaves room for improvement. Used their wash & fold service on numerous occasions, and unfortunately opted to go elsewhere. I believe they send their laundry off-site, which folds your clothes in a lazy manner. I often had to refold my laundry to prevent wrinkles.
