Only ate here once but I'm a fan. Wish it was closer to home. We'd frequent this place for sure. Nice selection. Had brisket and pulled pork. Both cooked perfectly and flavorful. Sides were tasty too. Enjoyed a handful of free peanuts and the fountain sodas include a few you don't see everywhere which is fun. Comfortable decor inside and a lot of outdoor seating too. Nice play area for the kids. Great place to hang out with the family and have some good food. Only disappointment was the number of sides they didn't have. We were there early Saturday dinner, like 430, and they were indeed busy. But more than they planned I guess because as we waited in line a guy kept coming out and putting red line through things. The food is about what I remember, w/ hit or miss items where you like some things more than others. But the vibe got a total upgrade! Step thru the doors & be transported back in time, to maybe an old saloon in the Wild West- the bartenders darn bow ties, a fire crackles ahead, & an old-timey piano plays in the background. And if that doesn't grab you, the wood-fired brewery using hand pumps should! Rarely do I make exceptions for atmosphere to win out over food, but the setting more than makes up for any shortcomings the BBQ might have. Put this place on your list! read more

I wanted to love this place! Super cute and cozy log cabin type vibe. Order up front and take a buzzer to go get your food yourself. No waiters. Went on prime rib night. $27 for an 8 oz with one side. It came out like warm for us both and super thin with a lot of fat so I might have gotten 4oz of meat to eat. We left hungry. Roll was nothing special, sat ontop of pr so soggy. Coleslaw was good, French fries were ok but such a tiny portion. One place to play games chess and checkers infront of a very nice fireplace that they had lit. The beer was not good, not 3 options that were light on the % of alcohol so I got a wine instead. They advertise pr night and there micro brews so I as expecting a lot better from both. We would come again to try sandwiches and sit by the fire. Very disappointing in all though! read more

I had a pulled pork sandwich-enjoyed it! My husband had the brisket shepherds pie and ate every bite. The free peanuts were a nice touch, but we arrived at a point where the Friday rush hadn't hit yet so our food was ready before we really ate a lot of peanuts. The pianist was enjoyable and I was happy to leave a tip. The bar was busy, but I didn't get any drinks so I can't leave a review about the service. We recently moved to the area and decided to drop by for the Thursday Prime Rib special. The prime rib was perfectly cooked to medium rare. $26.99 for my 8 oz and $42.99 for my husband's 16 oz cut. Each came with a homemade side. He had fries and I had the mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes and the prime rib were delicious. They serve soft drinks from Reading Sosa Works as well as fresh brewed iced tea. Food is served cafeteria style where you order at the counter, then seat yourself. The dining area is welcoming and there was a fire going this evening. They have a separate bar in the dining room where they serve a selection of premise made cask conditioned ales as well as cider and select liquor. My husband enjoyed a brown ale and said it was of high quality and he might stop back in another night for a beer. We will definitely come back and try the barbeque and different sides another night. Stopped in here for a lunch based on the great reviews. The food here is good and worth a detour for BBQ. Nice smoke rings and plenty of dry rub on the ribs. Crispy skin on the chicken. Pulled pork is served dry but there is sauce you can add. The potato salad, hush puppies, baked beans and mac and cheese were all better than average. No wait service here. I was really looking forward to eating here and was extremely disappointed. Had a 2 meat platter (brisket and turkey), sides were potato salad and bbq beans. Brisket was mediocre, potato salad had a strange aftertaste, beans and turkey were good. Had a side of corn bread which was average. My wife had pork, green beans and Mac and Cheese. She only liked the Mac and Cheese. The beer was undrinkable. The building was nice. Not enough in the way of restrooms. There was a line. Was hoping for better. read more

The food here is always fast and delicious! I love the chicken and the cornbread is amazing! Definitely get there on the earlier side if you can as sometimes they run out of some meats. They have tables inside and alls outside and the outside is really pretty and lots of room to spread out and enjoy the scenery! read more

Mmmm mmmm good. Winning! This was good all around. We came early because allegedly they run out of things. We got brisket, pulled pork, brisket cheese steak, hush puppies, and Mac n cheese. Everything was great. They offered a spicy and regular bbq sauce at the self service stand and they were both tasty. You order food on one side and on the other is a bar with their in house brews and PA spirits. The beers were nice, mostly in the lighter side and no IPA for my fellow IPA fans. Still, I enjoyed the brown ale and the special ale. Also of note, the beers are $3!! There is western theme to the place and it's awesome. There were plenty of tables but we sat at the bar. It's right on rt 10 and plenty of parking. I literally have no complaints. My son did say the caramelized onions we're not exactly caramelized on the brisket cheese steak but he seemed to enjoy it. Very cool place. It's like stepping back in time, with some FANTASTIC bbq and great cider! They have an old-timey bar and a pretty cool history. The bbq is amazing. Hands down greatest cheesesteak and hush puppies! But everything on the menu has been a hit! I love how they also have old time sodas from the reading soda company. The ambiance is warm and cozy. My li'l Texas heart is bursting! I can't believe I've gone so long without the knowledge of Stampede's existence. What a beautiful, warm gem of a spot. The BBQ is incredible, the menu is vast, the specials are awesome, and the beer? The beer is great (and only $3?? in this economy??) Not to mention, this building is incredible - I love the wood burning fireplace and cabin feeling. Stampede was the lunch spot of choice after perusing the nearby Morgantown Classic Auto Mall. Selecting the entree of choice was no small task. If you're a meat lover, Stampede is your spot! We opted for the O-Boy Sandwich: Brisket and Sausage on a Potato Bun, served with slaw, pickles, horsey sauce and jalapenos on the side. I accompanied my sandwich with the mac 'n cheese, and my boyfriend had a cup of the Brisket Chili. It was really hard not to order a side of everything - mashed potatoes, creamed corn, hushpuppies - it all sounded (and looked) delicious! We polished our piece with cask pours from the bar, served in perfectly sized beer mugs. There were four, classic recipe old style beers on the hand pump. We had the Brown Ale and Seasonal (a Rye Ale). Both were smooth, light, and the perfect flavor balance with the BBQ. I'm a brisket snob, and Stampede's did not disappoint. Don't sleep on the sauce either, which comes in the original and spicy variety. I'm looking forward to bringing my Texan parents to Stampede on their next visit to the north. The food that we ended up ordering was very good, the main issue I had is that a significant portion of the menu was not available at 6PM on a Saturday night. No ribs, no sausage, they ran out of chicken and salad while we were in line. 4 of the 5 speciality sandwiches were not available. 7 of the sides were not available. I'll say again what I ended up ordering was good (a pulled pork sandwich- literally my 3rd choice), it's just that I am hesitant to bring the entire family (all 7 of us) unless I know that the all of the menu will be a available. read more

Well... we are here for vacation and the pics online made me know that I needed this in my life.... But... it wasn't what was expected. We got it to go and when we got back to our place, it was VERY greasy. The brisket had a wonderful flavor but it was more fat than meat. The green beans were seasoned well, but I don't like a hard green bean. I like mine boiled a little longer than what it was. The ribs, the Smokey flavor was delicious but they were tough. Our first time here and we loved it! Easy ordering system and the worker was patient with us as we asked questions about the menu. You order at a tabletop and then you get a buzzer. Get your own drinks, sauces, utensils, etc. Find your own table. Waited only about 5 mins until our buzzer went off and you pickup your food at the counter. The first thing we noticed about the environment was actually before we even got into the building. Even my toddler commented on their beautiful gardens and landscaping outside. Inside, it's decorated like an olde time saloon and I enjoyed the western vibes, even down to the bartender's outfit. Everything was delicious! We got the pulled pork and brisket sandwich. I really like that they're not already sauced so you can put as much sauce as you want on yourself. I didn't think the sauce labeled "spicy" was very spicy, instead had a nice lasting heat to it. The potato salad was very well seasoned. Not pictured, both my husband and toddler got the Mac & cheese and it was delicious! We also got a large order of fries ti share at the table and those were loved by all-- perfectly crispy and salted. I actually liked that everything was a la carte because we were able to order exactly what we wanted without any food waste. Debit/credit cards are a 3% fee, so next time we'll bring enough cash! 4.5 stars here. Showed up 11:30am on a Saturday and the place was already starting to fill up. It's the sort of place where the majority grab a table and then walk up and order your food, so its basically first come first serve. Since the bar was empty, me and my two buddies decided to belly up and enjoy a couple brews with lunch. The bartender was dressed the part for sure. Like you stepped back in time into the old west. He (Evan) was super nice and professional, super attentive and since we were seated at the bar, we could order right thru him and the food came right to us. Bonus. They have a brewing system built off of wood fired ovens, so a small system and they always have four beers on. A light, brown, porter and a seasonal (rye), and just $3 for 12oz. mug. Great deal. Beers were quite tasty. The porter had a hint of molasses and was thoroughly enjoyed. For eats, I had the brisket and sausage sandwich ($11). Sides are all a la carte and a bit pricey ($2.99/ea and they were very small servings), plus $1.99 for a piece of cornbread that was also small. So, adding in those sides, made the meal a bit pricey, but the beers were cheap, so call it a draw. The meat was perfectly smoked and they slice the sausage at an angle, so pieces are not falling out of the sandwich while eating. Rustic Americana meets BBQ cowboy-style food and beer. This place has plenty of seating, high beamed ceilings, and a huge fireplace. The brisket and turkey are so tender and tasty, the bbq beans are well-balanced, and where else are you going to get a fire-boiled, partially fermented in the keg beer for $3?! I had a convention about 5-6 miles away, in a bit of a restaurant desert, and after way too many meals involving the question of "do you want fries with that," I was seriously ready for a change. Someone mentioned they'd seen a BBQ restaurant on the way in, but it was a bit of a trek (they misremembered it as about 10-miles). At this point, I was ready for an adventure, and a change, and figured I'd be lucky to find mediocre BBQ. Instead, what I found was a fantastic little barbecue spot! I admit, I was a little worried when I saw the prices: they seemed too good to be true. But, the portions were generous, and the food fantastic. I got a pulled pork sandwich and a couple of ribs. The sandwich was delicious, and their bbq sauce complimented it perfectly. The ribs had a great dry rub, and lots of smoke flavour to them. After looking through the reviews I'm worried that this is a fluke but will post anyway and update when we retry. Place is super clean and is family friendly. Ordering is a Mission BBQ style but I don't hate it. If you don't know there is a bar on the other side and wish there was notice of that because I would not have bought a tea. Just an observation not a cut at them. We didn't not really deal with a waiter per se but the front order taker was nice. The bartender was knowledge and so sweet. Makes a nice mixer. We both got the prime rib sandwich with fries. Fries were hot and salted to our liking. . The sandwich was really lacking and cold as was the au jus sauce. Not a ton of flavor but the horsey sauce was good. Was the only thing I personally enjoyed about it. Beer - very home brewed style if you want a full bodied beer this isn't for you. The bartender did tell us this before we ordered but we had to try. Now the spirits.... Yes!! love that they are from PA and if you want strong go that route. We will be back to retry but not in a hurry to do so. read more

The theming is extremely thorough and honestly on par with a Disney-level experience--from the decor, to music, to the staff's attire. Extremely clean, polite and helpful severs and staff, good (and cheap!) beers and ciders. Ribs are absolutely insane, brisket is great, fries are hot and crispy-- absolutely no complaints. We discovered this place by accident. We had gone antiquing in Adamstown and drove past. Their reviews were good so we decided to stop. The feel is old-timey without being cheesy. It is very well done and welcoming. There is a fire and large tables that can be shared family style. There is even a barrel of complimentary peanuts in the shell that you can enjoy while waiting for your food. There is a small lift on the second floor with additional tables. Service was fast and friendly. There are multiple bbq choices. You pick your meat by the weight (1/4 lb, 1/2 lb, etc) The sausage and brisket were both excellent. There are nice comfort food sides, but these can sell out leaving fewer choices. They also have locally made soda options which were quite tasty. They use their wood stove to brew their own beer, which was something we had never seen before. My only complaint (and yes, I realize this is a bbq place, so did not dock a star for it as that would be unreasonable.) is that they have very limited options for vegetarians. I am a vegetarian whose partner and child happen to love really good bbq. It would be wonderful if there were some options for me beyond some side dishes. read more

Our third trip on Prime Rib Night (Thursday). I love Prime Rib, but this is "Prime Rib"! I have never had it from the pit before and it's amazing! First time and got take out. Normally frightened by a 15 minute ride home with this type of food but, boy was I mistaken. We got the brisket, turkey, pulled pork and ribs and it was all moist and juicy. The sides were a little salty but were complimented well with the applesauce we got. Tried the beer while waiting and if you're a fan of english style ales you will be pleased. No TVs in the dining/bar area add to the desired ambiance of the place. Came back yesterday to try again, take out dinner for the family. 1 out of 4 items I ordered were left out, which is really sloppy quality control. The ribs were just as dry. Barely edible. I LOVE this place! Best barbecue I've had in the area. I always get the smoked turkey with a side of spicy bbq and the sweet potato fries. My husband loves The Jake with a side of beans and Mac n cheese. I'm pretty picky with my Mac n cheese but Stampede makes them perfect IMHO. Haven't tried dessert yet because I'm always too full. I still don't remember how I ever found this gem but it is my favorite restaurant. Food Everything I have tried here is good but the brisket is THE BEST. I mean, it is so good I get some to eat there and take home. Some people might not like the prices but guess what - meat is expensive and their brisket is DELICIOUS. I have also had the ribs which are good, my wife gets the pulled pork which she likes but nothing in my mind can top the brisket. The service is fast and they are really friendly folks. I'm writing this review with greasy fingers staring at our campfire trying not to go into a food coma. My pregnant wife with twins just finished double fishing your meat and is fighting off the "itis" and meat sweats. This review is based off the food and not their mask policy or any political BS. I ordered pickup, wore a mask inside (experienced no criticism), and all of the employees had masks and gloves on. I felt safe and the transaction was quick. We got the sliced brisket, ribs, mac and cheese, Cole slaw, hushpuppies, and brisket chili. It was a little pricey compared to other BBQ joints I've been to, but the quality was good. The brisket was incredibly tender and the fat cap was rendered down enough to where it melted in your mouth. The brisket was so tender that it fell apart while dipping it into the sauce (btw it doesn't need it but I wanted to try their sauces) The ribs were also perfectly cooked. They were almost completely fall off the bone requiring just the slightest pull to get it moving (to me ribs that slide off the bone as soon as you tap them arent perfect). They are dry rub and again require no sauce. Onto the sides. The Mac and cheese was very flavorful. You can see the seasoning they use, and the pasta was cooked al dente. The sauce was a little thin for my liking but overall the flavor was there. The cole slaw was incredibly fresh, crisp, and not over dressed. Some places add too much mayo or vinegar but this slaw had a nice balance. The hushpuppies were crispy on the outside and dense on the inside. You could see the ingredients inside (onions etc) which is a plus because its just not a ball of mush. Lastly the brisket chili was well seasoned and full of hearty ingredients. The pieces of brisket definately added a layer of decadence to an already delicious chili. I'll probably be back the next time I am camping for a sandwhich or two and to try a couple different sides I didnt get to this time around read more
