I have been going here for a while now. The first time I went to the bakery I picked up some cookies and ended up consuming all of them before I was halfway home. I turned around and went back and Carrie (the owner) thought something was wrong. Yes, something was wrong, I was out of cookies! I purchased more for home. Get the homemade chocolate raspberry truffles (in the cooler months) and the caramel brownies. Macaroons are fantastic. It's a real pleasure to support someone who is obviously passionate about what she does. Check the hours- like any small bakery, she closes around 2PM on most days. read more

Carrie, the owner of Stahl's Bakery went out of her way to make sure that my daughter, a Kent State Student would be extremely surprised for her 21st birthday. Carrie went out of her way to accommodate my special requests. My daughter was so excited and sent me pictures. She said that everyone thought the cake was SO GOOD as well as all the cookies. From seeing the pictures, Stahl's Bakery did a beautiful cake, great looking cookie tray, fabulous chocolate coconut cookies and way exceeded my expectations. I have gone to Stahl's a couple of times now and I was always satisfied. The owner is lovely is knows everything about the town! The bakery is small and located in a corner of a strip mall but it does offer some delicious gems. I have tried a number of her cookies, some of which were better than others. If you like hard/crispy cookies, this is the place for you! She offers a nice variety: chocolate chip, ginger, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, and some fancy decorated sugar cookies too. The best things I have had from Stahl's though are their brownies. Freshly made and filled with caramel. It doesn't get much better than that! The only downside to this place are the irregular hours, her cookie selection runs out very early in the day, and some people are not a fan of crunchy cookies. There were people in the store without masks on, and not social distancing. This place does not care about it's customers obviously, and is willing to be ignorant about the truth of what's going on. I don't usually have negative things to say about local businesses because I love shopping local and supporting a good business but this is my exception. I had a not so pleasant experience here the other day. My cousin and I were going to get pizza between classes from Lucci's, which is located next door to Stahl's Bakery. Unfortunately when we got to the door of Lucci's we noticed that they were closed. Since we were already in the area and hungry, we decided to get a quick snack from the bakery. We've past it a hand full of times but never actually been in so we decided to give it a try. After walking in, the atmosphere was not what I was expecting. The cases had about 6 trays with 2-3 items on each and just lacking variety in general. After looking over our limited choices, I decided to get a chocolate chip muffin and my cousin got a blueberry one. I took my debit card out and had it in hand when the women behind the counter handed me my muffin. After I already had the muffin in my hand she said "we don't take debit cards here, cash only.." and I replied "Oh, where is the nearest ATM?" She let us know it was across the street which was too far in the moment since we had to get to class. At this time my cousin and I are both scrambling through our bags for change to pay for this muffin. Which she told us we had to take and pay for now because I had already touched it which she handed to me after I had already had my debit card out... she continued to say things to us like "why don't you have cash?", "college students ALWAYS have cash" and "no one uses credit cards anymore" which I'm not sure where she got all of these crazy ideas because I'm pretty sure if you asked a handful of college students a majority of them would not ha cash on them. She also told us that it "too expensive to have a machine" which makes sense but it would have been nice to know right off the bat instead of being completely rude about it. I'm sorry but it's 2018, if a business is going to treat someone that way over not having cash then they've lost my business which is sad because I would have loved to support them, had the women been polite. read more

Old fashioned bakery... yummy cookies.... delicious breads... moist muffins.... and fairly reasonable prices. How could you go wrong? My only complaint is that their hours are sporadic (they don't seem to stick to the posted schedule) and their stock seems somewhat low/ inconsistent when we visit the shop. Mostly we see them at the farmer's market during the summer though, when they usually have plenty of stuff, and it's all yummy. read more

We live out of town but had our wedding in our hometown recently, and we really wanted to support local businesses. We're personally not dessert people (we like salty over sweet) but we knew that our guests would want sweets! We also didn't want to go the traditional route with a wedding cake. So we worked with Carrie at Stahl's to create the perfect dessert table. It was filled with cupcakes, mini cannoli, pizzelle and another pastry that Carrie highly recommended. She's clearly passionate about her craft, and worked hard to ensure not only top-flight customer service but also quality products. And across the board, our guests complimented the variety of the treats, as well as the look of them and the taste! Several said that the cannoli and pizzelle were just like my grandmothers used to make, and they planned to order from Stahl's next Christmas.
