I rang twice in the week and couldn't get to speak to a salesperson. Finally got through on Wednesday to a different salesperson and asked them to mud guard the bike. Was told that's fine. The bike was sold to someone else by Friday pick up. Hollingsworth said they'd call me back within half an hour as they tried to source the bike elsewhere. I rang back four hours later and was told sales staff were on the floor. Do not shop here.

Given that Dublin is full of grimy little bike shops that mainly do repairs and have a small…read moreselection of bikes that you can hardly see because they're so tightly packed, whereas the bigger shops in the suburbs like Eurocycles or Cycle Superstore look like they're printed off a CAD-CAM app screen with no personal touch... this place ends up being one of the best bicycle shops in Dublin. The bikes are well displayed and easy to see and try out, there's a reasonably good selection, and the owner is very knowledgeable - which counts for a lot. Nor does she try to take over your life while giving you advice - unlike other bike shop owners I have encountered in this town!

To be fair to them, once you get inside, tis a different story altogether. It's a fairly big warehouse space full of all types of wheels, and a separate section dedicated to cycle accessories and clothes. To be honest though, it's not that good. I don't know much about bikes, but the selection seemed to be heavily based on men's racers and mountain bikes. Not much in the way of women's or alternatives like fixies or hybrids. My main gripe though was that I must have been there for 15 mins, wandering round, wanting to part with my hard earned cash, but not knowing where to begin. In all that time, ain't no one came over and chatted with me or asked if they could help. In the end, I gave up and left. Customer service is key folks! You can have all the annoying jingle ads in the world to get people to your shop, but if you can't help em when they're there, well what's the point!!!

Owner Rob is one of the stalwarts of the Irish triathlon scene - both in terms of racing himself, and of sponsoring athletes around the country including pro triathlete Aileen Morrison amongst others. The store itself contains literally everything you'll ever need in terms of swimming, cycling and running - the only thing it's lacking is a massive sign asking patrons to close their mouths and stop drooling on the floor!! So basically, things that are great about Wheelworx: - the bikes - the staff - sponsorship of events and athletes - use of social media (very good at the old facebook stalking is our Rob!) This place is a pure gem!

This is the best idea i have come across in 2009…read more I visited Rothar during the summer in search of a bicycle, now Phibsboro is a long trek for me from Dundrum, its all the way across the other side of the city, I didnt buy a bike but it was worth it to see this operation. You should look at their website to try and get the full flavour of rothar but i will try and describe it to you here. Basically it is a community project that gathers abandoned and donated bicycles from around the city, the people there then do up the bicycles and then sell them on at a really cheap price, about €90 for your average bike. They also conduct classes on maintaining your bicycle and they provide workshop spaces where you can repair your own bike with their tools and get advice on how to fix whatever is wrong. Since i was there they have changed premises and that can only be good. I spent ages walking around phibsboro with my boyfriend trying to find this "shop" in an area i have never been in before, we ended up down a tiny little lane where there were loads of kids playing. It was there we found what i can only describe as a tiny garage with a man in dreds surrounded by bicycles and bike parts. He confirmed that we had found Rothar but unortunately there were not any proper bikes ready to take away. The workshop is bigger and better now but as far as i can see these guys are in real need of bicycles to keep this operation going so as well as giving Rothar a big thumbs up i am sending an encouraging message out to anyone who reads this, if you have an old bike lying around or if you know someone who is throwing one out, think of these guys before you donate your bike to a skip! Oh and just incase you dont speak Irish, Rothar is the Irish for Bicycle and it's pronounced " ruh-har" if you can read my attempt at spelling phonetically!

Amazing community project place where you can get your bike serviced properly and with genuine care…read morefor not much, leave your unwanted bikes for a 2nd life (or buy their refurbished bikes) and even attend a workshop on how to fix your bike yourself. I've had a lot of work done on my bike there which they did in 24 hours only !! and since then, no bother As a community project, they won an entrepreneur award (can't remember which one that was) which means they really know what they re doing and are really committed to the project. Two days the same person rang me back and said they couldn't fix my bike because he was told they don't have the room or the facilities to fix my bike, strange because it has bike repairs and bike service on the sign and it's not as if I was handing in a Boeing 747. I went up and asked him what they couldn't do it and he said because it was a different bike to what they sold they won't do it...it's a standard bike, nothing special, it just needed a nut and bolt. So I walked out and brought it somewhere else, told them the story, they laughed, fixed my bike on the spot and gave it back to me that day. I probably won't go back there, thanks for nothing

I popped in to see if I could buy a pump. I was taken through all the different options (lookit me with no bleedin clue, I thought a pump was a pump. What a pleb). Turned out he was getting an order through the next day so he told me to pop back then or whenever suited, but in the interim pumped up my tyres for me so that at least I could cycle in between. Legend! I'll 100% be back and be going to these guys for everything bike-related in the future.
