I rang twice in the week and couldn't get to speak to a salesperson. Finally got through on Wednesday to a different salesperson and asked them to mud guard the bike. Was told that's fine. The bike was sold to someone else by Friday pick up. Hollingsworth said they'd call me back within half an hour as they tried to source the bike elsewhere. I rang back four hours later and was told sales staff were on the floor. Do not shop here.

Given that Dublin is full of grimy little bike shops that mainly do repairs and have a small…read moreselection of bikes that you can hardly see because they're so tightly packed, whereas the bigger shops in the suburbs like Eurocycles or Cycle Superstore look like they're printed off a CAD-CAM app screen with no personal touch... this place ends up being one of the best bicycle shops in Dublin. The bikes are well displayed and easy to see and try out, there's a reasonably good selection, and the owner is very knowledgeable - which counts for a lot. Nor does she try to take over your life while giving you advice - unlike other bike shop owners I have encountered in this town!

Bought a Cannondale Trail for €600 .After a few weeks it developed a knocking noise in the front…read moreshocks. Was told it was on the wrong settings and its fixed now.....it wasn't ! This time they offered to rebuild the shock....it was fine about a month then then knocking returned, returned to shop again. This time they said they would return the shock to Cannondale under warranty ,this would take two weeks, (a well I'm finally getting it fixed) . After a week they ring me and tell me there's nothing wrong with the bike and it won't be going to Cannondale to be fixed. At this stage I have the bike 8 months, and yes there is marks on it from being used. The manager tells me he can't give me a refund as there's marks on the fram. So it looks like I'm stuck with it. So this is my experience with cycle superstore, I certainly would not recommend them.

To be fair to them, once you get inside, tis a different story altogether. It's a fairly big warehouse space full of all types of wheels, and a separate section dedicated to cycle accessories and clothes. To be honest though, it's not that good. I don't know much about bikes, but the selection seemed to be heavily based on men's racers and mountain bikes. Not much in the way of women's or alternatives like fixies or hybrids. My main gripe though was that I must have been there for 15 mins, wandering round, wanting to part with my hard earned cash, but not knowing where to begin. In all that time, ain't no one came over and chatted with me or asked if they could help. In the end, I gave up and left. Customer service is key folks! You can have all the annoying jingle ads in the world to get people to your shop, but if you can't help em when they're there, well what's the point!!!

Saw this shop open when waiting at Harold's Cross lights, left my scooter there and picked it up the next day with replaced pads and checked cables. Paid €30 which seems to be a normal price around Dublin The staff is friendly, the service was good, I have looked briefly around the small shop and they carry just the basic sortiment of accessories. If I'm looking for something special or feel like browsing, Cycleways would probably be the best choice, but for a basic service it is nice to have a shop like this near home.

With the advent of the cycle to work scheme I decided to to get a new bike. Whilst their selection of bikes is smaller than other "new stores" that have sprung up lately, it has everything any ordinary cyclist needs. I purchased a new Trek bike and assorted accessories with a 10 % discount. They even took the bike back a month later for a proper checkup after I had put a few miles on the "clock" so to speak. Cant speak highly enough of the two lads who run the shop, service first class, highly competitive prices and as it is in business over 70 years no doubt it will be in existence long after many of these new shops that have sprung up go to the wall. fair play lads

I don't know my bottom bracket from my rear sprocket but I do know that Ranelagh Cycle stock high-end brands like; Dawes, Giant, Kelly's and Trek; and also some more budget options like Falcon. They also have spare parts, do repairs and offer advice to anybody who feels they've been left holding their stem or scratching their chain ring when it comes the hefty lexicon of cycle terminology. I give Ranelagh Cycles three stars because their are so many other, larger selections of bicycles available in other bike shops within cycling distant, but if you like to keep it local or haven't got a bike to cycle into town then Ranelagh Cycles are perfect for you

It was a very expensive bike worth over 2,000 euros new but was only a few years old and the owner nickel and dimed me over the offer price and I had to walk away with only 180 euro, even though it was newly serviced and in perfect condition. The next day that same owner had it for sale for 450 euro, that is some mark up if you ask me. Not only was he a cheap skate, he was also rude and unprofessional. I've only ever bought a lock here, but I pop in from time to time to see their offers on second hand bikes and the staff are always really nice. BIKE TREK. Now that's a title.
