Stopped in for the first time the other night looking for a casual place to grab a couple beers and shoot some pool. This is a no-frills country bar through and through -- think boots, country music, and a local crowd unwinding after work. The place has three full-size pool tables and two dart boards, which is decent for the size. There's plenty of parking in the back lot, which is always a plus. I was told they offer free pool on weekdays, but I happened to show up during league night, so tables were reserved and I only squeezed in one quick game. Still had fun, but it definitely limited the experience. Beer-wise, prices are moderate (nothing crazy for the area), but the tap selection is pretty limited if you're hoping for variety beyond the usual domestics and a couple macros. The lounge area feels basic -- a few high-tops and bar seating that could use some upgrading for comfort. A couple of easy wins would take this place up a notch: adding an outdoor smoking patio (big miss for a country bar crowd) and expanding the beer taps. Those changes would make it way more comfortable for hanging out longer. Overall, it's a cool, laid-back dive if you're in the mood to shoot pool on a quiet weekday afternoon or evening. Little hole-in-the-wall bar in the Vista Way/Emerald interchange area. Prices are pretty cheap as I gave them cash for some drinks and let them keep the change, and the bartender was quite surprised. Do people not tip here? They have quite a few pool tables. We went with a group of maybe 10 people for happy hour on a Friday (HH is 3-6:30pm). Bartenders were great. The patrons weren't too rowdy. We played darts and occupied what used to be the smoking room (last time I remember about 15 years ago). Now you need to smoke outside. Parking is mostly in the back. There is some up-front but for security sake I wouldn't park there (break-ins more likely if no one is looking at your car, unlike the back parking lot which always has people outside smoking). Drinks were good. Not too weak and not too strong. Try the "-196" strawberry seltzer in a can from Japan (made by Suntory). I think it was $6? Pretty good and 5.5% ABV. They had a Hazy IPA on draft that was pretty good. Few other taps too (SpaceDust, other domestics). They do not serve food other than bagged potato chips. But, they allow you to bring in food from the outside. You can even get food delivered. We ordered two large pizzas from Pizza on Tap and fed the 10 people we had. We stayed until 8pm and the place was pretty full up by then. Not a bad joint. read more

Stopped into this dive returning to LA from San Diego. Always wanted to check it out. It was pretty busy despite it being early afternoon, with plenty of locals drinking beer, and getting good and rowdy with each other on a weekday. High ceilings, brown wood decor, thumbs up for divey decor. The enclosed smoking area INSIDE the bar is a curiosity. They are basically smoking up a storm inside the place. It kind of stinks, and you are breathing second hand smoke when they open the door again and again. Overall, it looks like a great place to visit once in a while. I get the impression it's nuts in the evening. Oh, and park in the back or you'll look like a total tourist. Everyone knows to park in the rear. The CCTV shows your car in the front when you pull up, so everyone can see you arrive... Ice cold schooners of beer, great jukebox as well. Thumbs up! read more

Ah this place is super sentimental to me and will hold a special place with me, so of course I have to give it a good rating! Others may not like this place because it's a dive bar, but it's not your typical grungy hole in the wall place like many others I've been to in Oceanside. Pool Tables? Check! TVs to watch Sports? Check! Outside area for smoking? Check! Cheap drinks? Check! Bartenders are super friendly and this place is totally laid back and casual. Not sure if they have food, but it's next to Popeyes and Mexican food is across the way, so getting food is no problem. What's nice is you can still enjoy the outside space when it rains (WHENEVER that happens) because it's covered, outdoor heaters, and TVs so you can still watch the game. Definitely one of the better dive bars in Oceanside if you're in the mood for a casual, laid-back time. read more

Super dive- divey ba just off the 78 freeway in Vista/Oceanside. Usually we just come here later cuz it's nearby to play pool and have a drink or two. Not really a crowded hip place, but a place that you can go in pretty much whatever. I have to admit, the inside is pretty big and not bad compared to how it looks on the outside. It's almost hidden, in the respect that by the looks of the outside it doesn't look like much but inside is pretty sweet with a full long bar, 3 pool tables, a jukebox and a sit in outdoor smoking area. Like I said, maybe not a good spot to kick it at for something that hopping but it's just a good place to grab a beer, maybe a cocktail, shoot some pool, talk then go home. I was trying to meet up with a friend and turned to Yelp for a bar recommendation in Vista. Stage Coach Inn was rated well, but it was not at all what I was looking for. I got here first, and walked in to find there were very few seats and they were all taken. Tons of people, very loud, not the type of place to grab a drink and catch up with a friend, which is what I was trying to do. Seemed like everyone else was having a good time, and that's great, but the lack of seating really killed it for me. It's such a large space, the owner should add some more cheap chairs at the very least. I was also kind of turned off by the weird smoking area. read more

I've driven by this place for ages. Never really saw any cars or heard much about it. I recently went bar hopping on a Monday night. 3 of the bars in Vista were totally dead! So we decided to check this place out. NO wonder you don't see cars from the highway! They are all outback! This is a cool little bar. They have 3 pool tables a jukebox and some games. I don't smoke but if you do this is the place for you! They have a back padio that is attached and enclosed and YOU can SMOKE in there! They have a window inbetween that room and the bar so the can go up and order a drink at the window! This place was packed. They had pool league going on. It smelled a little like BO but that was because they had hotdogs with onions! The prices were reasonable and the bartenders were friendly. That's always a huge plus! ;-) read more

My friend and I stood outside at our car for a good ten minutes watching the people come in and out and we said "are we seriously doing this right now..." before going in. I mean I can't say I had extremely high expectations. The plus's: the bartender with the dreads was really nice and welcoming, the PBRs were only $3 (no tall cans only 16oz), it was clean. Minuses: PACKED with people ranging from 50 and up, there was a pool table directly behind the bar seating so as we sat at the bar we ended up being rubbed up on a lot by passer-bys, not the most inviting crowd we definitely got a lot of strange looks but hey it's understandable. I don't know, maybe I'll come back. I have a friend that says he's been on a weekend and it's dead in there. I also saw a sign that says Tuesday is a $10 cover fee because it's pool tournament night so beware!! Bars out here are weird but that's bc I'm new in town. I've found too many try-hard craft breweries with atrocious overhead lighting but very good beers. Problem is they are peppered with angry men. This place has all the best things of a great shitty bar. Good lighting. Cheap liquor drinks. Small draft beer collection. Cash only. Jukebox. Pool (APA ranked local team). Smoking section. Perpetual Semi truck without a payload parked in front. Clearly visible video camera of the front entrance so you know who's been 86'd but coming back anyway. Not in a strip mall! If yr scared of these things prolly best to only come if you're feeling adventurous. You'll get your quota of silver foxes who shoot good pool and Cougars with hoop earrings. It was the first place I met a stranger, chatted and bought each other a round. It's a friendly local. It's also open late but I haven't been after 8. Enter a smokey bar with classic rock and pool. I imagine most people shoot'n pool here will hustle you harder than Minnesota Fats. I'm not going to tell you this bar is the ideal spot to bring a dolled up dime, or that you might meet the future Mr./Mrs. Right here, but it's alright for a cold one. I think most of this bars appeal comes from the rustic atmosphere they have cultivated (unintentionally). Many shoot the breeze over strong drinks or cold beers, while others puff away on grits among the neon homages of seductive domestic delights. The vinyl seats and artificial wood paneling take you back to a time where men were men. I like this bar, but it's not for everyone. read more

A decent dive bar - but not dark. Rather bright, but simple. You can play some pool or watch a game or shoot shit with the regulars. But you can't watch a game unless its on their standard TV package, for Stage Coach hasn't the budget to show the full range of major league sports. ThIs place has been around forever, since before the dawn of my move to California. It was already well broken in then, and was one of the first bars I ever visited in North County all those years ago. I was a regular. Then I moved to Orange County, and points beyond, and did not come in the place for years. I rediscovered it about 8 months ago, and I am hooked again. You won't find a better drink or better prices in So Cal and they are open until 2 AM most nights. We politely asked why, "I am the manger, she said. I refuse to sell your kind anything." WTF does that even mean! Keep in mind none of us had even been drinking. I have to admit, I definitely judged a book by its cover when it came to The Coach. However, after my first cocktail, I knew I would keep coming back. The prices are super cheap and the drinks are extra strong. I always get a stoli with soda water and I think its around $4-- which is wayyy cheap. The bartenders are nice and there is plenty to do to pass time (pool, darts, shuffle board, casino machines). What more can you ask for? read more
