This is the BEST hardware store in Ann Arbor. Also, I can guarantee that what Lewis Y. said isn't true. The store closes at 8:30 pm everyday except Sunday, and the employees never turn a customer away. So helpful!! I went in with a dead garage-door opener, and they found me the right screwdriver to open it - then proceeded to open it for me, pry loose the old batteries, get me the replacements, fit them in and rescrew the whole thing closed. Well stocked, always busy, but in my experience the helpfulness of staff is hit or miss. It's a 50-50 split as to whether they will actually listen to your question without assuming they know the answer first. Our house is unconventional in its construction and I've come home with the wrong part because staff hasn't paid attention. But seriously...I like to fix my own stuff and I learn a lot by going here versus the Big Box stores. They are always friendly, willing and ABLE to help with advice and tools and know-how. This remains our go to store. My wife often enters this unique domain looking for some individual item and leaves amazed at (1) being able to buy "one" of anything rather than a box and (2) a step by step how-to instruction plan for the project. Many women find the big box stores intimidating and their help at times chauvinistic. The big box people have mastered the art of invisibility...they know now not to catch your imploring gaze. The ladies in my life all say the same thing in sotto voce: if you're a guy the big box places work. At Stadium Hardware that behavior and philosophy seem not to exist. The staff always engage in point on (and at times protracted) Ann Arborish conversations with you. Humor, insight and technique await those who enter the gates to this unique font of hardware knowledge. Hey, and if you have a hunger rumble in your belly, take your one nail and two nuts and three sheets of sandpaper and head right next door to Bell's Diner...a fine diner...with a Korean menu! read more

I came with a stripped bolt in an antique faucet. The person who helped me drilled out the bolt, repaired the thread, and after 20 minutes of his labor charged me 29 cents for the washer and 39 cents for the new bolt. This level of service is impossible to find anywhere in town. Go there for all your hardware problems and give them your business. They're the best. read more
