What an awesome wee find?! Thanks to fellow Yelper Martyn M. for seeking out this wee gem located…read morein Hamilton. I jumped on the train to Hamilton West and strolled up to just opposite the Hamilton Sheriff Court and next to the new Italian Eatalianos. It's a quick wee walk and you're there before you know it. Before I entered in they had some seating outside, so clocked, that was were I was parking my bahookie for the next wee while. Inside there's no seating, so purely designed for take away only. The staff were really pleasant and I had a great wee chat with them. They had a fantastic selection on the menu, especially for Hamilton. Hehe! I opted for a Ploughman's wrap and it was delicious. It was so lovingly made and wrapped with a little bit string around it in a bow. They also had a slow roast option, which I believe changes every day, I think I'll check it out the next time I'm in. I had a lovely tasty lunch while basking in the, not to often seen, Scottish sunshine. Bonus! For any foreigners to our land who are not fluent in our garble of slang and the Scots language, Mibbies Aye is Scots for maybe yes. So then is it a Mibbies Aye or mibbies naw for here? It's definitely an aye fae me.

Finally, a decent deli opens up in Hamilton! I've only been waiting on this my entire life…read more Recently noticed when driving past that this deli, Mibbies Aye, had opened next to Eatalianos and decided to pop in to try it! It's a tiny takeaway place that only offers one table, but the contemporary decor is lovely. They do daily specials, from slow roast brisket to a selection of other just as delicious sounding things, bagels, baguettes and sandwiches, all made on site. The coffee is delicious (must make a mental note of what kind it is), and they also make smoothies on site which are absolutely glorious. Fab staff who are keen to chat, efficient, and happy to help in any way. Great wee place!

I've been coming to this store since I was born. I love this store! Sad I know but maybe it's the…read morefamiliarity. Yes it's changed over the years but it's still the same old Asda underneath. The Cafe's still there, it was closed when I headed down today but I think I may pop in again some day for a brew. It reminds me of my school days of going down the street for my lunch. Hanging around about Asda looking and buying things we've no need for. This was also a fun past time when I used to be part of the management committee at the Terminal One Youth Centre across the road. I still can't believe they made this Asda 24 hours, is there seriously people who want to head to shop in Blantyre at 3 in the morning?! I've no idea but I know I certainly wouldn't. Also why they built a Hamilton 24hr Asda when the Blantyre one's been there for 30 years. Suppose the Hamilton one does have more stuff in it like clothes and electrical etc. Well I did mange to get my dad a new ariel for his tv so he was mighty pleased. You do manage to get most things from there but it is normally for the groceries. I do have one gripe with them at the moment since they've did away with the deli counter. You now can only buy packs of meat slices, which cost a fortune, £3 odd for several slices, I don't think so. I miss the counter where you could just order what you need, maybe 1 or 2 slices. There's still some kind of counter and that's where I asked about single slices, even the women agreed that they shouldn't have did away with the deli. Ah well maybe it will work, maybe it won't only time will tell. It was the same when all those self checkouts came into play. Don't even get me started on them. Also what's with the staff being made to have big hand signs with 'space here'?! Maybe it's to give them jobs when they lost out to the self checkouts. Some people's crazy ideas eh?! As long as they keep the Asda Price low. Do do do-do-do, chink chink! (slaps bum)

It's better known for its gargantuan drink selection, which specialises in Whisky. They're rarely out of stock in the tipple department, and I have only been disappointed once when searching for an unusual Irish Whiskey at short notice. It's a nice wee olde worldy type shop, where the assistants and booze are safely barricaded behind a full sized wooden front with serving windows, obviously they know that the Motherwell clientèle can be a little over excited at the sight of such an array of bevvie. The assistants are usually wee older ladies who are lovely, or an older man who I would guess runs the place. They have to put up with a lot from what I have seen, teenagers usually target this place for some underage WKD purchasing, but they aren't slow in telling them where to go. I wouldn't mess! They also sell wine, beers and juices, as well as a few groceries and tins of essentials. They make some pretty amazing soup and sandwiches for a cheap price, and they sell the biggest chocolate fudge muffins I have ever seen. They are out of this world! It took me three days to eat one once, and I'm not shy when it comes to cake. Yum. Great wee newsagents-deli-off licence right across from the bus stops and train station.
