A great wee find. Was in the area and gasping for the ultimate caffeine fix to get me through the afternoon so this was the first place we came across. The selection of goodies on display were unbelievably tempting, was so hard to resist... Great Coffee too! Its not just a coffee shop either. Also on sale were an amazing selection of multicoloured pastas, chutneys, jams, sauces etc, so if your a bit of a foodie, you wanna impress the guests and are in the area this place is its well worth a visit. read more

This is a classy part deli, part cafe in the West End which I hadn't really heard much about before. I visited at lunch time during the week for a meeting and was really impressed as soon as I entered - a long counter showcasing some delicious looking cakes as well as shelves stacked high with interesting condiments and ingredients. There's a long bench table in the middle which means you might end up sitting next to a stranger, but that shouldn't deter you. I had a cup of tea followed by soup and a sandwich. This isn't really an option I normally go for but my lunching companion recommended it and said it was a good sized serving of soup with 1/2 a sandwich. Other options were more pricy and seemed more filling than I had room for, so I opted for the mushroom soup and a proscuitto and pesto sandwich. I don't eat mushroom soup very often but this one was delicious - creamy, rich and the perfect size. I also really enjoyed the sandwich - on really fresh bread, and I thought the filling was unusual but very nice indeed. The deal was somewhere in the £5 area - possibly closer to £6 but not a bad deal. Staff were friendly and unobtrusive. I didn't linger too long to look at the cakes as I didn't have my sweet teeth in that day, but I'd definitely head back here if I was in the area - and to check out the deli items a bit more closely! read more

This darling and delicious little deli is the perfect place to duck into on a frosty December day, to indulge in a lovely long lunch, as I discovered today. The window filled with cakes, croissants and the promise of hot coffee was enough to draw me inside. With its warm and welcoming atmosphere, it's no wonder that the tables and chairs were filled with friends enjoying lunch and laughter. I was spoiled for choice, with the counter piled high with freshly baked cakes and an array of cheeses and fresh pesto. I opted for a cheddar, pesto, sunblushed tomato and rocket sandwich, which was served on thick doorstop sized crusty wholemeal bread - absolutely delicious and costing little over £2. I'll be back to browse through the shelves full of authentic Italian sweets, cakes and coffee. Good old Italian food at good old prices. read more

So I am a huge sandwich fan! Love them and can't think of a nicer way to spend a sunny afternoon than with a super yum takeaway sandwich (and a liquid refreshment or two!) whilst sitting in kelvingrove park watching the world go by - hello spring! I love sonny and vitos and so this is where I headed for and ordered us both Parma ham, Gorgonzola and rocket pesto sandwiches on granary bread. We have had these before and loved them so to be honest neither of us even considered another option. The other things that did catch the eye whilst waiting were the superb looking chorizo sausage rolls (drool!) and various savoury tarts - another day! The sandwiches were amazing - salty Gorgonzola, garlicky pesto and sweet Parma ham - what's not to like - only one thing - my boyfriend found a chunk of the plastic that separates the Parma ham slices in his sandwich but he pulled it out and kept munching happily :-) read more

Well isn't this a lovely little West End gem. Could have spent a fortune on all the products available to buy from the deli. From absinthe cake to black risotto rice and all the wine in between. Be warned, you likely will be sat next to people so great if you are slightly nosey. Having said that, the 2 who ended up sitting next to my friend and I made it sort of clear they did not like the shared seating ethos. The menu was great, with a huge board of specials. Both my friend and I opted for the chicken and avocado salad with a black coffee. The salad was amazing, a huge serving of both chicken and avocado wth a lovely French dressing. I also loved the hidden sundried tomatoes and tomatoes and the artichoke. Not a fan of olives but I could see how people would like it. The cakes on offer looked great as well. The only niggle was breakfast only being served until 12, I think brunch on a Sunday should be served all day. (Mainly and selfishly because I don't tend to finish my long runs until 11:30ish). I've been here a few times before, not too sure why I haven't reviewed it, so here it goes. Came by S&V today to have a simple lunch while I rested (wasn't feeling too well!). The environment in S&V is great! It's always busy, and filled with locals from around the area. I assume it's one of those neighbourly cafe delis, where everyone knows everyone! It's nice and refreshing. Didn't feel like eating too much today so I went for a cup of soup (mixed veggie and lenthil) and an organic parma ham sandwich! The partner had the same except his sandwich was dolphin-safe tuna! I think the ingredients they used are really fresh and delicious. The veggie soup was comforting and, well, I'm like a mega fan of parma ham, so when I bit into that sandwich, I was just like .... mmmmmmm ohh yeahhh (lol). It's nothing extravagant, but it was a nice, simple meal that hit the spot. Couldn't resist some dessert so I ordered a caffe latte while the partner ordered a cappuccino. And we also had a slide of orange and chilli cake! Coffee wise, yes, they make good coffee (roasted beans by Union). And that cake, also yes, they make could cakes. Wonderful light flavours! I think I'm gonna make it a habit to visit S&V more often. It's such a comfortable place! Feels like you're in someone's home. :) Staff are also friendly! And they have a decent selection of wine and Italian goods on sale. read more

I love Sonny & Vito's. Their cafe is darling and the food- FRESH! My favorite is the goat cheese salad. My mouth starts watering at the mere thought of it. It is loaded with beautiful fresh veggies and is just big enough to fill you up for lunch. They also have some lovely baked goods. I like bringing friends and family who come to visit here. Its close to Kelvingrove park and a nice place to have a relaxed delicious breakfast or lunch. read more

I don't live in the area... I will be moving into the area... having tried a cheeky wee take away in here the other day, i'm soooooo glad this place exists! Great coffee, splawesome looking snacks and a hole host of sundries and schtuff, this is a cool wee deli, with a laid back vibe, high end grub and a name that sounds right out of Goodfellas. With it being just out the way (two blocks off Great Western Road), it's not on the beaten track, but well worthy of making the effort to reach it. You will not be disappointed. read more

I've been here four times now, having quick business meet ups with a graphic and web designer friend of mine. Got to say, they do a mighty fine cappuccino and cake here. Not eaten any food off the menu, as I'm only in for an hour if that. Its a relaxed atmosphere to casually hang out, that makes it a great place to meet up. Deli looks fantastic with a wide selection to choose from - again, I really must pay more attention to whats in front of me! Lovely small cafe and deli with really tasty food. I like the cosy decor in here during colder months and it's a nice place to sit outside when the sun appears. I love the selection of products on the shelves too, you always find something interesting in here. Some beautiful things that would make great gifts. They also sell bags on Union Direct Trade coffee including whole beans. They do great home baked cakes, soup, sandwiches, savoury tarts and daily specials. The rosemary ham is really delicious and they deliver on the side salad front too with lovely fresh veg, nice dressing, plump olives and crunchy croutons. The half sandwich and soup for £5 is a good deal. The only downsides here are the fact that it's very small so you might end up sharing a table. The service is usually good but I did see one waitress brush food off a table onto the ground with her hand which didn't really fill me with hope about their hygeine standards! My only other bad experience here was when I ordered the coconut cake which is usually delicious and found it was filled with marmalade, just not right. read more

With a suitably Soprano's style name, on a visit here you expect to encounter a few straight-talkin wiseguys, who'll make you up a tasty sandwich before shooting you in the back on your way out. Thankfully though, it's just a pleasant enough little Italian-style deli, with particular note going to the brilliant selection of sweets and cakes. The whole look and feel of the place is just spot on, and while it doesn't quite scale the dizzy heights of Little Italy, it's not too far off. read more

An Italian deli stocked with all sorts of fantastic products, which also has a few waited tables with which to enjoy this great food with a coffee over lunch. It's always very busy though, so you'll have to be lucky at peak hours to get seated, but it is one of the most pleasant places to enjoy a good lunch in the area. Almost every dish comes with a large and tasty Italian salad, but it's the regularly changing specials that make this place a favourite of mine. Every one from the Spanish chorizo sausage rolls to the tuna salads and lentil stews has been a memorable dish. Good coffees and cakes too. They also serve breakfast, but it's of the healthy variety, which doesn't excite me much. read more

Cheery cafe and sumptuous deli counter collide in Sonny & Vito's, and as we all love a good food and great service I'm glad to say these are found in abundance. A large communal dining table dominates the centre of the unit with space for a decent number of small groups around it; get ready to mingle when it's busy. The food is a mix of deli staples, some unusual originals and great sandwiches and for breakfast there's eggs and all sorts to occupy your taste buds. The staff were wonderfully attentive, chatty in all the right ways and skilled in putting their menu out. My one and only criticism of the place is that the coffee is a little bland and in my case was too hot (a cardinal sin in a flat white as it causes the foam to separate). The mocha was excellent though so go that route for sure. read more

When I moved to Glasgow four years ago, my walk to work in the morning would take me down Park Road and onto Woodlands, so Sonny & Vito's soon formed part of the commute. I am pleased to advise that Sonny & Vito's is still a regular. Though a little off the beaten track, I am always happy to take the time to head here on my lunchbreak. This is a lovely, bright little place and the staff take the time to come and say hello even when they are overrun. I usually opt for the soup and a sandwich deal, which is very reasonable at £6. For this, you get a half sandwich (I go for ham and cheese with a mustard mayo) and a cup of their delicious homemade soup. To accompany this, I will go for a cappuccino, which is always great. Ideal for a light lunch, or even just for a coffee on a nice sunny day. Make it so. read more

This is a cool local delicatessen that specialises in organic, healthy food. Situated in the heart of the West end near Kelvinbridge Underground, it's a great place to sit outside on a rare sunny day, drink chai tea and have lunch. With its big windows its always brightly lit, and the service is friendly and relaxed. Fresh bowls of olives usually greet you as you enter, just one of the many delicious treats it has to offer. For a friends birthday recently I purchased one of Sonny and Vitos 'Gift boxes', basically a nice red box which you fill full of anything from organic red wine to toffee waffles, topped off with a greeting card and a pretty yellow bow. It made a great, unusual, reasonably priced gift. read more

This is a top Deli. Friendly staff, great food, delicious goods for sale. It is relatively expensive but justifiably so (don't grumble if it's so obviously better than the basic and cheap fare elsewhere, people). Only the over-roasted Union Coffee and poor prep loses them a star. A delightful place to grab a bite or spend an intimate while with a fellow foodie. read more

Nice feel about the place, nice cakes and sandwiches. The BIG negative is that they allow dogs in to sit with their owners. I know some dog lovers will like this, but as a food establishment, this is really not hygienic at all and if using a brush and mop as Im sure they do, it wil end up being used elsewhere at counter and kitchen, so Im not a fan of places that allow dogs inside..... Cake was nice though, but it has put me off a little. read more

Sonny & Vito is truly a local favourite for many people around Woodlands and Great Western Road and it is easy to see why. The atmosphere has a cozy, clean and pleasant atmosphere. Whenever I pass by or pop in the places is filled with people which creates a lovely sense of buzz in the air. The treats on the counter are divine. I have tried the carrot cake as well as the crème-filled pastries. They were both delicious. The hot chocolate was also carefully made and tasted equally as good. While I didn't try any of the hot food I did appreciate how tasty the made to order food looked... lots of options for egg lovers. The owner is incredibly friendly and usually makes the rounds to check on everyone. I really appreciate how hands on he is when it comes to making his business a success. My favourite thing about this place is how dog friendly it is. The dogs are not only welcomed but treated well. I think Wally had 4 biscuits during his time there. Its always nice to enjoy a coffee and cake and know that your dog is being top notch as well. read more
