So quite alot has happened since my first visit to this place. From a brief visit with great service and 'hmmm, not bad, not great, but not bad' coffee, this wee place has gone from a solid 3 stars to a 'ooft, where's the sixth star?'.
So what's changed? Well on the service front, nothing. Now this is a good thing as from my first visit i've never had anything but a warm and genuine welcome everytime I've popped into this place.
Each time i've been in, the two dudes Rocco and Santino have been busy creating sandwiches, making coffee, chatting with customers and generally creating a warm and cosy vibe to a place that could be cold and awkward in the hands of other proprietors.
Next step up has come with the coffee. From that first review, the guys went ahead and made the lattes a double shot, increasing the flavour/strength. And even since then, they've went and changed the coffee altogether with a move to Napoli based Kimbo coffee which is stupidly smooth and creamy.
OK, move away from the coffee Chris. We all know you're a bit of a coffee freak! Right, fine then. Now I have to be honest, up until the Yelp event last week, I'd never actually tried the sandwiches here, as I'd usually just pop in for a coffee (did I mention the coffee yet?) or a hot chocolate with the small child. Oh, the hot chocolate is similar to that which I had in Barcelona once. Almost like a chocolate sauce instead of the milky stuff we get... gorgeous.
Now where was I? Oh aye, the sandwiches. So having tried a good few of them at the Yelp event, I was simply blown away. With the flavours still whizzing around my mouth and in my memory, I popped in for a few to feed the troops of people who were helping us with some pre house moving clear up.
Wow. The meatball sandwich, as I think Jen mentions in the review for the event, is possibly the best in Glasgow. So succulent, not dry, not heavy. Perfect. Also had some of the N'jula (spicy salami spread... honestly, it's immense!) and the *****... the name escapes me, but it's just roast beef and tuna mayo (I shit thee not) and tastes amazing.
Blah blah, waffle waffle. Go to this place. It demands your attention. Go. read more
