    Tuna carpaccio

We've been to Eusebi a couple of times for brunch, but this was the first time we'd tried it for an evening meal. It's usually really busy, so I was surprised to get a 6pm slot on a Saturday at less than 24 hours notice. A little early, but hey..! As usual, it was the seafood items that attracted us, so we both started with the tuna carpaccio with shaved fennel and samphire salad. A delicious appetiser. For the main event, Herself chose the Gigha halibut, although we had to ask for it without the 'lardo' - I had a vague recollection that 'lardons' meant pork fat in French cuisine, and here they turned out to be bacon fat. Not for us, thank you! I went for the swordfish with roasted aubergines - with some reluctance I have to say as aubergines are probably my least favourite vegetable. However, they turned out to be fairly edible (that's about the best aubergine compliment you'll get from me!). On the side, we went for potato wedges and some white beans in horseradish gemolata. Both very tasty, although I was hard pushed to detect any hint of horseradish in the beans. The dessert menu was far too dairyfied for both of us; however we were allowed to chose something sticky from the upstairs counter, and Herself duly returned with some white and purple cheesecake-looking confection with pink chocolate and a wafer on top (don't ask me what it's called), and an almond crescent biscotti thing for me. All washed down with a nice white from Puglia, one of my favourite wine regions. Coming in at a 3-figure sum for the two of us, it wasn't the cheapest dinner, but we did have 3 courses and a bottle of wine, and a lovely evening to boot. Who's complaining?

Four stars for a Scottish-Italian style restaurant with a lot of instagram aesthetic. The marble tables, the checkered floors, the play on country and modern... pretty cutesy chic. I had the Languiano pizza, a water, and a cappuccino, and spent about £14, which is a little steep for quick service, but you are definitely paying for the location. The food was tasty. Interesting combination of Parmesan, potato, and pesto on a white pizza. The cappuccino was delicious. They even offer you chocolate flakes to top it off... Yes, please! I find that the device industry in Scotland is waaaay too lax and not nearly as attentive as in the states, which is why I can't give them 5 stars. The staff is nicer than in most restaurants I've visited in Glasgow, so it's definitely worth a try!

Continuing my poor day for culinary experiences on Easter Friday we went to Eusebi. Now our elder son says this is one of the best Italians in town, great food etc and we were really up for this Sadly it was not to be for me...struggled to find something on the menu to eat at all, had to have everything explained as the menu doesn't make a great deal of sense if you've never been before...and then Ended up with whitebait...lots of...soggy, nothing crisp about them...so not that appetising and they remained with me for longer than I really wanted Followed by a pizza...through lack of anything else...I don't really want to do pizza as a plan B On the other hand there are the most amazing desserts to look at and the Montepulciano was acceptable Those who knew what they wanted and were looking forward to it enjoyed their meals It wasn't expensive at £106 but that was hardly the point. Not a patch on Osteria Del Tempo Perso. Go there

Eusebi is a real Glasgow institution. They have been serving up traditional fresh homemade Italian cooking and produce for years. But, if you have ever been hesitant about visiting the original store in deepest Shettleston, fear not as the owners have opened this absolutely stunning new and shiny deli in the heart of Woodlands. The new shop doesn't fail to deliver either, continuing to sell great REAL homemade Italian food to go, such as rustic style pizzas, meatballs in ragu, roast chickens, grilled veggies and so on. It's a perfect stop if you are late in from work and fancy a quick, healthy take away. They also have a fantastic selection of Italian cakes and pastries but these are usually completely sold out by the evening, so get in quick! The new store now also doubles as a restaurant. It has a really great, laid back cafe feel, like somewhere straight out of Italy really. I popped in with a group of friends and not knowing what to eat and being my usual famished self, we opted for a pretty huge selection of dishes. Obviously on the cards was gonna be pasta, and I opted for a prawn Bavette which was tasty and powerfully garlicky, but it was quite a small portion for the (perhaps) hefty £14 price tag. My chums chose more wisely, for example the meatball maccheroni was sublime, was a more generous portion, packed a better flavour and was more fairly priced. Other dishes I tried were a Roman Style Pizza "Pinsa". The dough was fabulous, kinda like a squashed ciabatta, perfectly leavened and crispy. At £11 for the Pinsa Calabrese, (mozzarella, potato, onion and sausage) I thought again it was a little steep, after all you can get a whole pizza in places like Paesano for half that price!! Nonetheless it was delicious, even although it was slightly over cheesed for my liking. Being a self confessed Aubergineoholic I could not overlook a delicious Caponata side. Caponata is basically a stew of aubergine, tomato, olives, capers, pine nuts with a sweet and tangy vinegary hit. It was fantastic and reminiscent to what I've had in Sicily before. Our other side of Fritto Misto was again very small, and the batter wasn't quite right so probably not worthy its £6 price tag. I have absolutely no doubt that this place will go for strength to strength as they suss out exactly what the West End clientèle wants. I visited just a few days after opening, and if its this good now, I am certain its gonna be a 5 start joint really soon. This is a great addition to the Italian dining scene and once again its fantastic to see places selling REAL Italian food rather than your boring Spaghetti Carbonara's and the like. So its a big thumbs up from me and a grazie to Eusebi :)

I was in need of a hot drink and a little something extra after a long walk through the park. This was my first visit here and after placing my order I was offered a seat next to an open fridge, as if I wasn't cold enough, there wasn't a welcoming feel from most of the staff here apart from one guy who checked my table, and politely asked if l would like another coffee, Well done to Archie for that. I had the donut with a latte, it was all nice, I could see a real nice and tempting display of food in their fridges & a chef preparing fresh pasta. Overall 5 star service from Archie who was checking the tables, even though he hadn't served me at the counter, he made up for the other staff that where avoiding the customers.

Sooo I'm gonna give Eusebi Deli a 3 because my experience was just ... Erm ok? So Gian and I came here to warm up after some fun in the snow today. The place wasn't busy at the time so we got seated quickly and were given menus. As usual so no biggy. Pros 1) I ordered the Caprese pizza which was delightful and the caffe latte was really nice too! Gian had a soup with lamb broth which he really liked, especially to warm up the body. Loved the ingredients in all the food on the menu! They have really nice selections of cheese and sliced meat from Italy (pecorino is my fav from Tuscany!) Cons 1) coffee took like 15min to arrive to our table. Y'all weren't even that busy! 2) we were served by 3 different waiters = confusion of orders. 1st was a guy who came to check on us then disappeared without informing anyone to attend to us, 2nd woman came to us after I made an unimpressed expression directed to the staff members but she had her head in the clouds for sure, and the 3rd one, (the saviour) was the most attentive one who apologised for any confusion. 3) When we ordered the food, Gian originally only wanted the soup of the day which was between squash and Tuscan ham with beans. He ordered the Tuscan ham soup and we waited like 25 minutes for it. Why was soup taking so long? Apparently the 2nd waitress failed to tell us that the soup finished like 3 hours ago -.- so the 3rd waitress (that we had to approach and get attention from) finally informed us of what's available, which led to gian ordering the lamb broth (geez). 4) no sign or info stating that we cant order food from the counter which is annoying cause I wanted a focaccia that wasn't on the menu for table service! In conclusion, food wise, Eusebi Deli is great! The ingredients are good and they actually hve nice things from Italy! Staff-wise, y'all gotta manage it properly man. Why do you have 3 people serving a table of 2 customers? Why are half of your staff members clueless?? Why aren't you prompt with updating information about the availability of your food or the dynamics of your service? Other than that, it's just ok. Not gonna go rushing back or anything tho

I heard mixed reviews about this place, but as a fellow Italian I felt it was my duty to come try this place. It is a lovely restaurant to look at with all it's Italian décor, and a lot of thought has been put into the style of the restaurant. It looks and feels special. For a Monday night it was also quite busy, so the restaurant had a nice atmosphere to it. Now, I've heard that the service can be a bit temperamental, and would have to agree with those reviews, but I found the staff extremely friendly, and they knew everything about the specials and were enthusiastic about it. Initially, I found the service a tad slow as I was standing for ages waiting for a table I booked only to find it was the empty table I had been standing next to the entire time. But after that it was grand. So, the food. I found the menu relatively easy to understand, but I can see why a lot of people would struggle to understand what the ingredients were. I ordered the spaghetti with walnuts and cavolo nero (kale) pesto, with a side of rosemary potatoes. They were cooked really well and the rosemary dressing was really fresh, and very strong! The spaghetti was lovely and al dente, and the pasta sauce was delicious, but I found it a bit too salty for my liking, which made it a bit more difficult to eat. Especially when it came to the end with leftover sauce - it just had to be left! My friend had ordered one of the special pastas with pork, and he too found his dish very salty. The bill equated to £15 each, which for a plate of pasta, potatoes and a diet coke I found dear but not over the top expensive. Probably slightly more expensive than a lot of places, but it is genuine Italian food with dishes you won't find in most restaurants. Overall, I had a really pleasant experience and would happily come here again as there is another pasta dish on the menu I would love to try. I would recommend this place for a nice special dinner, but not somewhere you could come all the time if watching the bank!

    Pizza and Calamari. Yum!

Very hip Italian deli with a collage of Sofia Loren on the wall. My friend works across the street at the University and he said it is his favorite lunch spot. We tried two of their Roman style pizzas, the Primavera which had artichokes and beans and we also got the sausage and Italian broccoli. Very fresh and quality ingredients! The crust was rustic, a little burnt on ends but it didn't bother me. I liked that the pizza wasn't too salty, it let you taste the flavors of the ingredients. The calamari was also very light and delish. We brought some desserts home for later. The cheesecake was light and lemony, not like thick New York cheesecake. I also liked the eclaire, strawberry tart and cake. Yummy! Very good lunch spot.

Came in here the other night after walking past it countless times. Did arrive with a little bit of trepidation after reading some mixed reviews but have to say I left quite impressed. Inside the decor is pretty cool, there's a nice looking deli counter at the front where they sell a lot of fresh breads and pizza. You can tell you're in an Italian restaurant! As this is a deli, you can sit in or take away. The take away options did look tasty and I'll be sure to give them a try at some point soon. The sit in menu is fairly traditional Italian stuff, pizza, pasta and some nice mains. One plus is the menu isn't laden with options, which I always find a good thing and an indicatior of quality. I opted for the lasagne to find they had ran out! But there was a tasty sounding special I had instead; maccheroni gigante with a pork ragu. The pasta was great, nice and al dente, the way I like. The pork was very tasty if a touch on the salty side. The service I fount to be very pleasant and friendly. I see a few people here have had some mixed experiences, I'm guessing this may have been around when it opened, classic teething problems and all. Overall the bill was £15 which is a touch on the steep side, though you do get quality for the money. I'll definitely be back here to try more on the menu, just as often as the bank account lets me!

My trip to Eusebi was for a post work meal with a special few. My colleague had decided on Eusebi, so we took a stroll from the BBC over to the Deli with a few beer pit stops on the way. When we arrived we were taken to the basement in which there is more evening dinning friendly seating, as oppose to the sit in cafe upstairs. The menu was quite complicated and didn't offer up any descriptions. This meant that the waitress was having to explain in detail what everything on the menu is, which I didn't really like. I wan't it to be clear from the menu what everything is - isn't that the whole point of them? Anyway - when we did figure out what everything was - their certainly is a lovely selection. For the starter we decided to share, between the 4 of us, the Parma selection which was a trio of prosciutto (aged, cured in red wine, preserved with balsamic) with foccacia and a melon jam. This was delicious, no doubt about that. We had to order more foccacia as despite knowing it was being shared between 4 of us - they only gave us 3 slices. But a fresh basket soon arrived and it was wonderful. We also shared the Octopus salad upon the recommendation of the waitress. It was my first time trying octopus and certainly not my last! The tomato and olive gave a sharp taste and went fantastically well with the octopus. For main I decided on the Toscano pizza pinsa. A flat bread with Italian sausage, potato, onion, chilli and mozzarella. I hadn't realised this was a 'tomato-less' pizza until it arrived - and man it really could have done with some tomato sauce. The flavour combination was delicious, no doubt about that. But it was dry, really dry. I struggled to finish it and offered it up to my colleagues. They too said it was crying out for a tomato sauce base. The italian sausage was pretty much none existent also. Don't get me wrong though it was nice and not lacking in flavour. The cake selection is fantastic. They all look amazing! I decided to take a cannoli home with me and I was really glad I did. I devoured it with my other half the next day and it was smashing. The best crunch, filled to the brim with vanilla cream, finished with a dusting of chopped pistachios, bitter chocolate pieces, and candied cherries. Lavely! The bill came to £135 - that was for 2 starters, 4 mains, 3 bottles of wine and 2 deserts. The best thing about this place was our waitress, Roselyn. She was attentive, patient and impressively knowledgable. She is a real credit to this place. Everything else was good and nice but it was really missing that wow factor for me. Therefore I struggle to rate any higher than a 3. But I certainly think I will be back for coffee and cake! I need to have more from the impressive cake cabinet.

I really like this place. The staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful - every time I've been in I've had my son with me and they chat away to him, put up with the odd toy being thrown across the room(!) or offer to pop his buggy or trike in a store room out the way. The food on display is nothing short of a feast for your eyes! Fresh meatballs, lasagne, sandwiches, stuffed bread (AMAZING!!) and a cake counter to satisfy the sweetest tooth. So far we've been in for coffee and cake, a quick sandwich lunch and takeaway treats from the deli. I enjoyed every mouthful. The deli prices are also very reasonable at £3 for a chunk of lasagne & £2 for a stuffed bread. I can't wait to go for a sit down meal and try the hot food. I don't think they've got any highchairs yet so I'm afraid they're losing a star from me.

I haven't eaten much Pizza since the epic Yelp Pizza Battle but this was something else entirely! I love this place :D It only uses and serves geniune Italian food. The staff were all really helpful and friendly. Yes the place was bustling but we got a table with no issues. It was a lovely, sunny day and our table by the big window gave the place a wonderful summer feel...despite it being March. We ordered our drinks, it's table service, then deliberated over the extensive menu. There are some really unusual, but pricey, options; like squid ink pasta! I decided on the Calabrese pizza with some Rose Lemonade. It came out quite promptly and I was far from disappointed. It looked amazing! Tomato, Mozarella, Spicey salami and burrata. Everything was fresh and delicious. The bread they use for the pizza is unlike any I've had before, and I think I've found my favorite pizza! It was light and crispy, yet doughy like a Focaccia bread. I managed to finish the whole thing but it was a push. It's too small to share without any other dishes. We then decided to push the boat out and get a selection of pastries. I tried their Gluten-Free coffee muffin. It was a plain muffin, with the perfect amount of icing and just a hint of coffee. I would have been happy just with that, but I sampled a few bites of others too! The mini doughnut filled with nutella was actually divine. Seriously. The only reason this place is getting 4 rather than 5 stars is the price. It is a little dearer for the individual meals than you'd normally expect for the food, but the quality really does make up for it. Their deli looks very interesting too! The pizza, sandwiches, chicken meals, meats, and cakes are all for take out. It might not be somewhere to make regular, but as a treat every so often, count me in!

Great looking deli that is still packed out, almost a year after it has opened. The food looks excellent and is very tempting, in particular the pizza and, of course, the cake selection. Sometimes cakes look a lot better than they taste, but not at Eusebi. Cakes were amazing! The staff in Eusebi are so friendly and genuine, the owner always has a few words to say and remembers you on each occasion, which makes you feel like a really valued customer. Well done Eusebi, keep it up!

The menu is not that extensive but it has a reasonable variety of dishes to cater for most tastes. I had the calamari to start followed by the day fish special. Both tasted fine, but lacked pizzazz in the presentation department. In general, I thought the food was OK but not particularly outstanding; there are better Italian restaurants around. This place is family run and prides itself on that friendly atmosphere, so the service is cheery if rather laid back. I know we were waiting on other folk arriving, but we sat there for 45 minutes without anyone offering us so much as a glass of water. A wee aperitif would not have gone amiss.

It's tucked along Woodside Terrace and you'd be best off checking the map on Yelp before you head there, lest you head to completely the wrong place. No bother though, we found it eventually! It's a basement restaurant but it has a large windows at either end so it's not dark and dim like you might expect. I really like the decor - to me, it was like stepping back in time but in a tasteful, charming way. There's loads of photos all over the walls and you can tell it's had a lot of love put into it. I had a glass of rosé while looking over the menu which was really tasty - so tasty that I couldn't resist a second small glass with my main. For starters I had the caprese salad which was served with a whopping chunk of buffalo mozzarella. Everything was so fresh, light and tasty that it was totally perfect in its simplicity. I loved the generous slices of whopping huge tomato and even though the mozzarella was massive, it was a refreshing starter. For main I had the veal milanese with pasta. About 3 years ago (possibly more), Graeme had this dish at an Italian restaurant and I've had food envy ever since. I never forget food envy. Mine was served with penne napolitana but you could opt for a spicier spaghetti if you wanted. The veal was delicious, soft and buttery and the pasta was heavenly. I got a very generous dusting of parmesan (the way I like it). I did struggle to finish mine though (I had to save room for dessert). The tiramisu was wonderful, soft, fluffy, boozy and the lovely richness of coffee. I couldn't finish my portion but they happily put it in a ramekin for me to take home - so lovely. The bill was pretty pricey - around £40 per person, but then that was for a 3 course meal with drinks so it's actually not too bad. My favourite thing about here (apart from the food) was definitely the service. The staff are so lovely and welcoming that you really do feel like you're part of their family. Nothing was too much trouble or difficult for them, and we got really mouthwatering descriptions of the menu from the Don himself. He would pop out from the kitchen every now and then to see how we were doing, and made sure he came by to say goodbye as he had to be up early for the fishmarket in the morning. A charming hidden gem in Woodlands - I can't wait to return.

The restaurant is pretty small actually but not pokey - no one was seated right beside us and the music gives it a good atmosphere so you don't feel like people are listening to your conversation. The menu is really impressive - I pretty much wanted to eat every single dish. As Rocco G says, it's not your usual Italian dishes on the menu and you can be a little more adventurous here (although there is a section of traditional Italian dishes which are more common in the UK like bolognese, carbonara, lasagne). There's lots of eggplant/aubergine (drool) and loads of delicious-sounding seafood, as well as nod to Scottish folk with a chicken breast stuffed with haggis. There's even a good range of vegetarian dishes. I went for the scallops to start (£9.95) which were beautifully plump (is there any other way to describe a good scallop), served in a lovely tangy Aurum liqueur sauce. For the price I thought 3 scallops was very reasonable, and really enjoyed how perfectly they were cooked. For main I couldn't go past the gnocchi with king prawns in a white wine sauce (£11.95). It was a huge portion (too large, if I'm honest) but overall a really wonderful dish packed with flavour but not smothered in sauce, and really letting the puffs of gnocchi shine. There was one main large prawn (in the shell) and then smaller prawns scattered around the dish - again, for the price I thought this was really good value. I even went for dessert (something I rarely do) as I quite fancied the tiramisu (I think around £5). Again, great sized portion, lovely presentation and had a nice boozy/coffee kick to it. I couldn't eat it all so they happily popped it in a container for me to take home (guess what I'm having for lunch today?!). Service was great - we were looked after by two staff members who were both friendly and helpful. There was a mix up with the mains as one of our party didn't receive his, and they only realised as they were bringing out our dishes. I thought the way it was handled was really nice - they offered him some bread while he waited, and then took his dessert off the bill to say sorry. Life lesson: If Rocco G says it's good, it's going to be good.

My first time upstairs, and I was surprised to find that it's not any roomier than the downstairs. It's basically a long narrow mezzanine that could only take 4 or 5 tables comfortably, and you have to share the area with the doors to the toilets and staff storeroom. The general lack of space in this restaurant is the only thing preventing me from giving it the full 5 stars, as I can't fault the food or the service at all. I'd give it 4 and 3/4 stars if I could. For starters, I had mussels from the specials menu, which were marinated in a slightly piquant sauce and came with a wee bit of garlic bread. Just yummy. I was very intrigued by what appeared to be a large mint in a wee eggcup that came with the 'empties' bowl, until a water arrived and poured a small jug of hot water into it, whereupon it expanded into a hot towel to wash your hands with afterwards. How cool is that? For mains, I again chose from the specials menu, with squid ink tortellini stuffed with lobster, topped with more mussels, king prawns and garlic (you can tell there's a bit of a seafood theme here). I liked the way that the prawns had been half-peeled in advance, so you could easily extract the meat without having to dig in with your fingers, and the tortellini was perfectly cooked. It was the most expensive thing on the specials menu, but it did justify the price as it was really tasty. Plus I got another wee expanding towel thingy to be impressed by. As this was an organised birthday bash, the waiters had been previously consulted about wine choices so that was all laid on when we arrived, including some lovely proscecco to start us off and get everyone in the mood. We had 2 or 3 wine aficionados in the group and everyone was very complimentary about the wine choices, so that's a good tip if you're in a similar situation in future. Dessert was skipped as there was a birthday cake (of course), presented with great panache by the owner, complete with candles and 'happy birthday' playing on the sound system. A nice touch and a fitting conclusion to the evening. I have to say I really like this place, and I would like it even more if it was just a teensy bit less cosy.

We put our name on the list and didn't even have time for me to order a glass of wine from the bar before we were called. The place is larger than I expected, and loud, with its high ceilings and has an industrial feel. Its like a pasta nightclub haha! We ordered the panzanella as a starter on the strong recommendation of our fellow bar patron, the spinach and ricotta ravioli and the beef ragu. The flavors in the panzanella were SO rich, ingredients so so fresh and it was absolutely delicious. The ragu was generous sized and great as well - but the real star of the show was the ravioli. Literally the best pasta dish I've had in my life. It was so buttery and flavorful, we both agreed it was phenomenal. From sitting down to checking out it was very fast as well. I hope to have the chance to get back here some day!

This little takeaway literally popped up near my flat out of nowhere. Now I have to walk past a delicious pizza place every darn day and somehow try and stop myself from entering! This is going to be a real test of grit seeing as Lamora's pizzas are mighty fine. One of the key things about a good pizza (I reckon) is the dough and their dough is wonderfully soft and light, but with a slight crisp, just how I like it. They have a wide range of good quality toppings and even do my favourite pizza which consists of Tuna and onion. It may sound wrong but it's a total Italian classic, showing that these guys know their stuff. If pizza's not your thing (amazingly there are plenty of people who are averse to it, shock horror!), Lamora have daily soup specials, pastas and focaccias. I've tried their minestrone and it was really hearty, flavorsome and rammed full of delicious vegetables. This along with a garlic and rosemary focaccia for £5.50 this is a meal not to be sniffed at. Simply great value for money. Lamora is a wee breath of fresh air in this part of Charing Cross. Being the only real takeaway in the area it serves up fine pizzas from lunchtime until late and has a very cool and fresh vibe that means it would not look out of place in a hipster area like Finnieston. Although predominantly a takeaway, there are a good 4 or 5 tables which means you can sit in if you like. Most pizzas are priced around the £8 mark which again is excellent value considering the size and quality. This is definitely my favourite pizza takeaway in Glasgow and I'm pretty chuffed to have it soo nearby!

Well, I am delighted that the memory has finally returned. As the others have said, this place is a cut above the rest. How often does a Sauchiehall area take-away get 4 and 5 stars?! The place is spotless, the counter is designed for these 3am weekend rushes, the staff are diligent and friendly, and the system is efficient. On top of all of that, their chips and cheese is heavenly. None of those common fast-food rumours of post-drunken food poisoning flying around here. Brilliant.
