Having visited several times before and knowing that there wasn't going to be an issue accomodating us after 8, my mind was made up almost automatically. When travelling round the country I've been to quite a few of these Table Table restaurants. With them all I've always been greeted With a combination of comfortable and homely surroundings, a decent menu selection, good service and tasty food which looks like the menu. The best kind of pub grub. Being a Tuesday night When we arrived, the service was impeccable, with no wait to be seated, no delay in taking drinks orders and fast efficient delivery of our food. Service even came with a warning that the middle of the chicken might be hot and to take care. Also, during the evening (after 6 I think) they run a specials menu which has the option of 2 courses for £9.99 or 3 courses for £11.99. The specials had a varied selection of food ranging from burgers and salads through to a delicious chicken and ham pie. This time I had the chicken goujons with a caramel glaze, which was just delicious, followed up with the fish and chips, and the tastiest apple crumble with custard I've tasted. The pasta dishes and banoffee sundae also comes recommended. The beer garden outside looks like it could be a nice place to sit when the weather gets better and the premier inn next door could come in handy if the reasonable drinks prices prove to be too much of a temptation for any drivers. I'll be back here for sure. Location : 8/10 (only marked down a bit for the road running past the beer garden) Atmosphere and Surroundings : 10/10 Service : 10/10 Food : 10/10

The Lee Burn - Classic burger with bacon and cheese with relish and skinny fries. Excuse the finger in shot. Desperate for a chip me thinks.

I'm so surprised to see hardly any reviews for Peters Seafood as I think it's a wee gem!! Having…read moreonly recently dipped my toes into the world of Seafood I tentatively booked dinner at Peters a few months ago for their Pre-Theatre menu. A set menu with 3 courses at £14.50, this is excellent value for the quality of food you get in a tiny restaurant. The place is family run, by Peter himself and his wife I'm sure. They really couldn't do enough for us when we visited. The starters on the menu on our visit (it changes) were the usual suspects in a Seafood restaurant, prawn cocktail, crab cakes, calamari etc. They also had Chicken Empanadas, which I tried, given that I'm new to fish I didn't want 2 courses!! The empanadas were crispy and flavoursome & came with a chilli dipping sauce. A perfect sized portion for a starter. Martyn went with the Prawn cocktail and, as you'd expect in a seafood restaurant, it was totally delicious with juicy prawns and a tangy Marie Rose sauce. I spoke with the waitress before ordering my main and explained that I was new to seafood and unsure about what fish to start with. She suggested the Seabass as it has a mild flavour and a meaty texture. I'm sooo glad I took her advice!! The fish was perfectly cooked with crispy skin and melting flesh, such a delicate flavour and not fishy whatsoever. It was served with wilted spinach and a lemon oil and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It really opened my eyes to the fact that fish doesn't necessarily have that fishy taste I expected it to have. We weren't going to bother with puddings, it was a beautiful sunny night and we both fancied a walk & an Ice cream along Troon beach. However when clearing our plates the Waitress uttered 2 completely delectable words.....'Homemade Profiteroles'. This well and truly sealed the pudding deal and 2 plates swiftly arrived at our table. They were incredibly light with crispy yet airy Choux pastry and filled with delicious vanilla cream. The chocolate on top was the kind that makes u want to lick your plate (and I almost did). Overall an excellent meal in a lovely atmosphere for a great price. I often recommend it to visitors of East Kilbride and I can't wait to go back!

They have a great 1/2 pizza 1/2 pasta option that I pretty much always go for. I got the Parma Ham & Rocket pizza which was actually £1.50 extra. It was a thin base pizza with plenty of topping. The pasta was equally good with lots of chicken, mushroom and creamy cheese sauce. I would definitely come back here because the price is good. It is a handy location if you are in the shopping centre. The 1/2 pasta/pizza deal is a winner, especially when you just can't choose. The quality of the food is top notch and I was pleased with the timely service. It can get quite busy and full at times, but that just shows that they do well at what they do.

However my last few visits have really changed my opinion. The place is just far too busy now for the amount of staff, both waiting and kitchen. The food is reasonable at best and just has a fast food type vibe now as opposed to the well thought out, delicious menu that used to be offered. The pasta and pizza are no longer authentic looking/tasting and it feels like they've changed in order to keep up with demand - not a good thing! It also seems to get more and more expensive every time I visit! I'd much rather travel that wee bit extra now for authentic Italian food at a much better price, which is sad as Zuccas was one of the only wee gems East Kilbride had.

Still everywhere deserves a review, especially when it is the best local Chinese takeaway around here! Shanghai Delight serves up hundreds of Chinese takeaways every day and is always mobbed yet the food is always very good. I am not saying it is sit down city centre quality, but very few takeaways are. It is though very good at what it does do. Personal favourites are salt and chilli chips, salt and chilli chicken, chopped ribs in black bean sauce, beef Kung po, beef curry and chicken satay. None of these of course are advised as part of any healthy diet plan that I can imagine and are probably far from authentic. But they do taste very good. If you are up this way and fancy a Chinese feast then you should give this place a try.

So Shanghai is definitely a delight and does the best Chinese takeaway! If it wasn't packed with delicious calories I would eat it everyday! Owned by a husband and wife who have lived here for year originally born in Hong Kong, the husband the head in the kitchen you sometimes hear chatting in Cantonese to the rest of his crew he never crosses over. Occasionally the wife is on the desk she very friendly speaks English but only to the punters. A couple times a year they will close for a couple of weeks where there take a holiday a go back to HK to visit family. Ok so the best dishes are Salt and chili chips, Kung Po beef, salt and chili chicken. A wee beef curry never hurts anyone! To be honest of i was ordering Chinese and Shanghai was closed I'd just go without. All or nothing!
