The dough and mozzarella were outstanding, fresh, and perfectly chewy. The pizza sauce was definitely homemade. The cotta ham, mushroom, and special pizzas were simply amazing. They offered a unique twist on the traditional pizza, with the meat adding a salty flavour that complemented the green toppings. We also noticed a chilli olive oil on the side, and adding it to the pizzas took them to the next level. It added a whole new layer of flavour that made it the best pizza I've ever had. Overall, we were not disappointed and highly recommend trying out this hidden gem of a pizza place just south of Buchanan Street.

Why, oh why, oh why, oh why, oh why, does everyone have to over-cheese their pizza, AAArrrrggghhhh!!!! Its so annoying. Anyway, deep breaths, I can do this, stay calm now..........just get to the end of the review and have a wee lie down...... The fact of the matter is, less is actually more, you don't need half a block of cheese to make a pizza taste good. It just adds an extra 500cal to the meal and leaves me bloated as hell that's all. They have large slices of pizzas (or you can order a full pizza), hot dogs, and sodas. The place is small and the only seating is in the form of two wood bars on the sides at which you can stand. Neither the limited menu or the lack of furniture should put you off. The pizza is really good and very reasonably priced. I personally ordered two slices and a drink (margherita and one with bell peppers and salami). The slices are clearly off the 20" pizza and can easily make a full meal. I fully admit I actually had to get mine to go and by the time I ate it at the train station it was cold, but the slices were excellent. The margherita wasn't standout, but the they used a nice amount of toppings on the other without overwhelming the crust. The crust was nice and thin without being brittle and the sauce was good. It's not the best pizza I've ever had but it was very good when judged against anything. It was fantastic when compared to other pizzas at its price point. My entire meal cost £4 and to have a third slice would have only cost an additional £1. I don't often eat when I'm in proper Stirling but I'm tempted to drop by Pizza Mafia. It was one of my best online discoveries (and bonus - you can order on line when you leave town and pick it up as you get off the train). They have a good menu with plenty of veggie choices, a couple of my favourites the Riviera - tomato, mozzarella, black olives, mushroom, pepper and oregano or the simple Basil - tomato, mozzarella, topped with beautiful fresh leaves of basil and black pepper. This one starts at £5.70 for a 12inch pizza, which is pretty good value! You can also add a range of toppings to their wide choices, meaning you can have the perfect pizza. The pizza's are thin, usually with a crisp base however I have had a couple that were a little soggy in the middle. This is probably the one's with wetter toppings. As the bases are so thin, they are not as heavy or filling as a more American style pizza would be. I imagine this is why their smallest size is 12 inches. I find 12 inches is a bit much for one, the large size size is a nice amount between two for a proper dinner. As much as the pizza is brilliant, the sides have much less to rave about. There aren't many on the menu, but personally I wouldn't bother with them again. Not awful but nothing special. They staff are friendly, it's pretty fast service. You can see them making your pizza by hand, and fire it in the proper pizza oven. Think this is why they always have such a lovely crust! If you're in the area I'd definitely advise swinging by.

There's nothing particularly appealing about the shop front. Furthermore as they have no website I had no real idea what to expect food wise. So, I went in completely blind, not knowing anything. First impressions were excellent, very cosy, only 8 or 9 tables, nice Italian music in the background, the chatter of Italian in the kitchen and amongst the waiters. It all boded very well. We ordered some drinks and after a quick rummage through the menu (which all looked great, and very well priced) we were recited the specials of the day. In true Italian style we took the plunge and went for a mega feast of four courses. Nothing particularly challenging for a Wednesday night I must say. To begin, we had a duo of bruschettas - one, a classic tomato and the other with friarielli (or Italian wild broccoli). Afterwords we had a wonderful seafood caserecce pasta dish (primo) with fresh clams and squid. It tasted just like the real stuff I would get in Italy. After, yes there was more (or a secondo), a huge fitto misto (which we shared) which is basically battered and fried seafood. The batter was so light and crisp, and served with lemon its a simple and easy dish that is difficult to top. Finally for desert was a home-made amarena cherry and amaretto cheesecake. It was oh so rich and creamy. Exquisite!!! All this was washed down with some rather darn fine Soave white wine, and the best part was the final bill, incredibly good value for money considering the quantity and the amazing quality of the food we had. I could not recommend this place enough. A real proper Italian restaurant, which is going straight into my top Italian eateries list. I simply cannot wait to go back.
