Oh this the cutest little bakery/tea shop. Situated on Station Road, it is well worth a visit if…read moreyou're in Milngavie. Everything is so pretty! There isn't a large seating area (only a few tables) but I just popped in to get a few treats to take home. After I had taken plenty of photos (it just had to be done) I finally settled on a peanut butter & white chocolate brownie pretty sure it was a brownie) and a slice of Persian Tea loaf. My excitement levels went through the roof because anyone who knows me knows how much I love tea (I have over 200 different blends). My cakes were boxed up in a brown box and sealed with a Honeybee Bakery sticker. Service with a smile and tea loaf...I left in a rather good mood indeed! The tea loaf was £2.25 a slice and I found it to be really good value for money considering the portion I got. It was moist (even though I hate that word) and melt in the mouth stuff. Definitely going back for more sometime soon because it was that tasty. Highly recommended. My peanut butter and white chocolate cake was nice, but I'm not sure the combination was for me. Although I did finish it, it's not something I would purchase again but that's purely down to my personal taste. Staff were lovely and all of the cakes looked so fresh and inviting. They also sell some amazing looking meringues which I'm going to have to try soon! Highly recommended!

Creative Cakes is extremely handy being situated only ten minutes walk from mine and a mere five minute walk to one of our favourite pubs (but that will come along later). Though the shop is not entirely dedicated to wedding cakes, there's no doubt this is something of a speciality. This is clear from their window displays, never mind inside. There are a range of wedding cakes in various sizes and with various decorations. The highlights of those have got to be: daises; musical notes; ivy and silver lettering of vows around each layer. The prices are very similar to what you would expect, or so the friend says. This certainly seems to be the case from the friendly, chatty and extremely knowledgeable staff. Who were more than happy to help with information, ideals, suggestions and just general chat. Moreover, the company were very helpful about transportation, preparation and the massive clean up operation for the following day. They even suggested some other wedding related companies and/or places for the venue etc. Excellent experience which was extremely pleasant considering the stress of it all. Especially given both our ignorance in these matters. All of this, plus tasty (and scarily immaculate) cakes. Defo a winner.

If you prefer something even healthier they make delicious banana bread and carrot cake too. It's a really new shop, and thumbs up for being brave enough to take such a risk. I dragged Stu out of his festering pit and we made our way to Grant's the Bakers. I had passed it several times while sprinting for the train and the smell emanating from the bakery almost caused me to forget all about the train and go and live in there. Hot rolls and hot drinks are available to take away at very reasonable prices. At 10.30 on a Sunday, the queue was out the door and spilling untidily onto the street. Builders, locals and hungover tramps waited patiently in front of the cake filled counter and sizzling hotplate of over-processed meats. The smell was fantastic. Thanks to the two wee wummin behind the counter the queue moved quickly. We bought 6 totty scones and hastened home to fry them! They were big, misshapen and had an almost meaty bite to them. This makes them high up there in my Totty Scone Hall of Fame. Yes, I do actually have a Totty Scone Hall of Fame. I am rather a freak, I do fear. Next time I think I'll go for an iced donut.
