Drive by and decided to try this place. My first time! I was greeted by very friendly staff, after I was welcomed, she told me to sit at the bar if I was comfortable. I ordered a cocktail and decided to get their sampler meat platter. Omg!! It was awesome. The leftovers I had for lunch the next day...even better!! My only complaint, no bacon. Never again!! We stopped in here for lunch and were told fryers were out no fried food. Ok we were going to get bbq. We ordered our drinks and notice all 7 TVs were on basketball. Ummm we r in St. Louis and Blues and Cardinals were playing and none were on the games. It took forever for someone to wait on us and there was one table in restaurant area one table in bar area plus us. And 2 people at bar watching basketball. We asked to turn on game and were told people at bar are watching basketball...??? All 7 TVs. Well needless to say we left. Very nice establishment! We went for lunch. Appetizers & entrees are packed full of food. My app was really enough to have as a meal ( I ordered the brisket nachos as app). As entree I ordered the pick two of Caesar salad and wings. Husbands app was fried ravioli with brisket sampler platter as entree. His plate was packed as well. We ended up taking a doggy bag home with three containers. Food reheats well also! To reiterate, we were presently surprised & very satisfied with food, flavor, drinks, and service. We haven't ate here since moving to their new location. We came in about 1:00 and it wasn't busy, one other table seated and that was it. Girl behind the bar on a laptop told us to sit wherever we like, that was fine. After waiting for a bit she came with menus and asked for a drink order. Once we got our drinks she said she would give us time. She went back behind the bar and got back on the laptop and stayed there the rest of the time. Another girl came over eventually and took our food order. The food was decent. The same as the previous location. Sweet potato fries had cinnamon sugar sprinkled on them. The Mac n cheese tasted as if it came out of a can. Chicken strips were a bit dry. Grown up grilled cheese was good. Baked beans were so so spicy it was crazy. The best entree was the cob salad. Bottom line, we have not missed out on anything and I doubt we will be back. St Louis has some great bbq and this place misses the mark. read more

I'm honestly surprised by the number of not-so-great reviews for this place. I suppose with it being new, they were still working out the kinks, but my friends and I LOVED this place. We came in on a Saturday night, around 8pm. We were seated quickly. My friend got a free beer because a lady had poured the wrong kind for someone else, so she just asked if anyone at our table wanted it. That was nice. Our waitress was super nice. Wish I'd gotten her name. I had the french onion soup...it had swiss cheese on top, which is my favorite cheese, and was absolutely the most amazing french onion soup I've ever had. I also had a caesar salad, which was just ok. My friend got the fries covered in pulled pork and cheese and she loved it so much she constantly talks about going back. Another friend ordered Chicken and Dumplings but was bothered by how peppery it was, so the waitress brought her a new meal right away. Didn't give her a hard time about it at all, just asked "What would you liked instead?" We shared some onion rings that were also some of the best I've had. Overall, we loved our dining experience and the food was phenomenal. We all plan on coming back very soon. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that there was a group of kids in the back area, completely unsupervised, as their parents were all either at the bar or in the private front room. There must have been 15 of them, give or take, and they were very loud, running all over the restaurant, screaming, and just generally acting as a group of unsupervised kids would act. Once or twice a parent popped by to ask them to quiet down, but it really wasn't enough. The fact that they would seat the kids that far away from their parents really bothered me. I could understand if the parents were at the bar and the kids were at a table right behind them, but they were in a totally separate area of the dining room, to the point that the noise probably didn't bother them at all...it only bothered us. This won't keep us from coming back, as I can assume that the chances of running into this same issue again are slim. But seriously. Try the french onion soup. Try the pulled pork fries. Try the onion rings. Try lots of things. Yum. read more

We ordered delivery the other night. Process and delivery were good. Disappointed to learn that the delivery person gets none of the delivery fee charged. Gave him a nice tip. Went in on a Sunday and all apps were 1/2 off. Split an order of wings which were pretty good. I also ordered a half seasonal salad. What's the deal with iceberg lettuce? The salad had a few spinach leaves tossed in, plenty of candied pecans and feta cheese. But if I see another salad with boring ass, watery, cheap iceberg lettuce I'm going to scream. The wine list offers some lesser brand wines but Crane Lake is doable and fits in my budget. I would try this place again. read more

After an apparently rocky start, we delayed sampling this restaurant. My wife and I went there for our first time to lunch on 30 August 2016. Service was attentive and our server, Kristine, knowledgeable. I had the pulled pork sandwich. It was tender, juicy, ample and topped with a tasty slaw. The fries were crispy and generous. My wife had the Chicken Caesar wrap which she liked a lot. I believe the menu will expand soon. I will be back to try their pork wings or maybe even have the pulled pork again The pork wings looked delicious at a nearby table. Pork steak on a stick? Hmmm... Everyone who works here is very nice! I've never had a dish here I didn't love. Would highly recommend the black n bleu burger, loaded fries (can't get enough of them, especially if you like queso), and the Cajun pasta. They have good happy hour prices. My friend ordered a salad and the one dressing they didn't have was French. The chef took the time to specially make him French dressing. What more could you ask for? read more

Usually they have good food. Today, not so much. My wife and daughter had the fries and grilled cheese sandwich with pulled pork. The pork had grizzle and fat that was not edible. Stopped in on a Friday night about 7:45, good crowd but we got seated right away. J got the pick two with the seasonal salad and French onion soup. Very good. I got the blackened fish tacos, which came with a choice of a side. The tacos were great, I would definitely order them again. I chose sweet potato fries as my side, and that's where I went wrong. They cover their sweet potato fries with cinnamon and sugar, which is fine if you like that sort of thing. I prefer mine with salt, for a sweet and savory flavor. These were more like dessert. There was no indication of the cinnamon/sugar on the menu, or I wouldn't have ordered them. My bad. Service was prompt and friendly read more

The staff, patrons and owners in particular are some of the most down to earth folks I've met since moving into the neighborhood. The prices are fair, and the specials like the 10 dollar ribs and two sides simply cannot be beat. The regulars here are kind hearted and worldly folks who welcome you with smiles and tall tales. Meh. Decided to give the place a second try after a lackluster first visit. I can confirm, it remains lackluster.

I give this place 6 months at best. I live close by, and try to support local small businesses. We have given Stackhouse 4 chances, and each experience was a bigger disappointment than the last. All four times it took over an hour for our food to arrive, including appetizers which always came out after entrees. Our first visit, it took almost an hour and a half to get our food, and when we were finished another half hour to get our check. My last and final visit, the grilled chicken was so dry it was hardly edible and downright grainy. My salad was so wet there was a pool of water in the bottom of my salad bowl. Although the chicken tastes like it had been on the grill for an hour it, still amazes me how it could take an hour for us to get lunch. We were one of only three tables (of two people) in the dining room with a few patrons at the bar. The waitress had attitude, and was barely seen after taking our order. I really wanted to like this place. I have been dining in this establishment since it was R.L. Steamers. The first time I stepped into the Stackhouse the bartender was very rude. I thought they just made a poor choice choosing an old bitchy bartender. I later found out this was an owner! I guess these people like throwing money down the drain. In my four visits I cannot find any positive aspect of this restaurant the food is terrible, the staff is slow, bartenders rude, and even the owners are unfriendly. I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. You can have 1 bad experience anywhere, but four consecutive is an indication of poor ownership. read more

There were about twenty unsupervised children in the dining room running around screaming like banchies while their parents were drinking in the private room in front. We've been to the Stackhouse three times since they opened. Our experiences have been consistently average. I'll concentrate on last night's and you can draw your own conclusions. First of all one of the big improvements over Miller's Crossing (previous restaurant) is the staff. We were greeted by one of the owners last night and she actually took our drink order as the server was busy. Our server, Sandy, was personable and professional. Another thing I really like about this property is there draft beer selection. Always some good local brews on tap. (House wines are a different story. :-) My wife ordered the Caesar's Wrap and enjoyed it. She was not a fan of the fries however, said they had seasoning (pepper?) on them and I think she prefers them with only salt. My meal was the weakness. I ordered the 12 oz. strip steak. I'm really not sure what I received. What was served were two separate pieces of steak neither of them resembled a strip steak. My suspicion is they gave me two of what makes up their 6 oz. steak sandwich. One of the pieces was cooked properly (medium rare) and one was cooked to be well done. My baked potato was cool to warm. I told my server and the owner of my meal concerns and they appeared to have a genuine interest in what I had to say. Like I told them, I really want this place to succeed. I like the location, the restaurant is nicely appointed and the noise level is excellent for having a conversation. We will give them one more chance in a few months but if things remain unchanged we will have to cross the Stackhouse off our list. read more

We have been eager to try StackHouse Pub and Grill. Our first visit was a huge disappointment. Arrived about 7:00, the place was busy but, far from full. Order was taken and drinks delivered right away. From there our experience took a turn for the worst. Waited forever for our food. Our waiter came by a couple times to say food would be right out. I ordered a burger medium and when it finally arrived it was cooked like a hockey puck. My wife ordered bbq pork and it wasn't much better. Ordered their special of the day "a rib eye steak sandwich" on Thursday, 01/25/2018. When one orders a steak sandwich, you'd expect a real steak. What I received was wedges of some kind of tasteless, over cooked beef that you'd need a chain saw to cut. The bun, cheese and slaw were OK and the only thing that was actually worse then the "steak" was the side dipping sauce which was like colored salt brine. I've had some of their other food which is pretty good. Maybe they should stay away from pretending to be able to cook a steak. Who ever came up with that sauce should not be allowed in the kitchen. read more

The food is sub par. I had the black and blue burger and the burger was low quality and tasted nasty. The coleslaw was way too creamy and bland. The Caesar salad was dry and tasteless. My wife and I have found our new favorite Sunday breakfast spot. The burnt ends eggs Benedict is great! Poached eggs perfectly cooked over a bed of fresh spinach, red peppers and a generous serving of burnt ends. The hollandaise sauce is very good and not drowning the dish. Properly proportioned to compliment the dish. Most restaurants drown eggs Benedict in hollandaise sauce. Sausage gravey and biscuits is the best in St. Louis! I recommend this to anyone looking for a hearty breakfast packed with flavor! read more

Been here 1/2 dozen times now since we live almost within walking distance. Limited menu but good food. Suppose to come up with a full blown menu after Labor Day. Ribs are very tasty with LOTS of meat. They have an excellent weekend brunch too but apparently few customers know about it. Went there two weekends in a row and we were the only customers at the time. Best biscuits and gravy in St. Louis in my opinion. Wife loves their stuffed French toast. Wait staff has always been friendly and attentive. We go out to eat virtually every night and this place is a keeper. Glad to have a good restaurant this close to us. read more

Had stopped here for a burger, which was decent. Came back with my wife. She ordered French onion soup-maybe not a great idea at a bar-be-que place, but what can you do. After eating several mouthfuls, she stopped and said "Oh my God, are these hairs?" . I was about to explain that the cheese on French onion soup is stringy when, to my dismay, there were indeed short black curly hairs in stuck in the cheese of the french onion soup. The soup was taken away. The main course arrived. I had ribs. I think she had pasta or something like that. Yuck. She again found hairs in her dish. She was through. I asked to box off my meal. When we put the ribs in the box, she noted a few more black curly hairs on the plate. Maybe the cook needs a hairnet. Maybe there was tampering going on. Either way, we're not going back. read more

Absolutely terrible. I wanted to give them a chance since they've changed hands. We went for a quick lunch which turned into a very long lunch. We seated ourselves. The waitress was pleasant, but the service was slow for as empty as the place was. When it finally arrived, the food was cold and mediocre. The bill also took forever. The waitress never returned to pick it up, so we paid in cash for fear of having to spend another 20 minutes waiting for a credit card to be processed. You could dine and dash, and they probably wouldn't even notice since the staff is non-existent in the dining area. You leave smelling like smoke since the smoke pit is poorly placed right next to the door, yet none of the meat even appeared to be grilled or smoked. The meat was tough like it had been nuked, and the food was akin to something you'd get in a school cafeteria. In fact, a lunch tray of rectangle pepperoni pizza and a handful of tots would have been a step up from this. Most of the items on their menu are simple and should be difficult to get so horribly wrong, yet somehow they manage to. Hands down one of the worst meals I've ever had. read more

Only then did the waitress pull out a piece of paper where she had hand written the drink specials. Mind was on something else . Ordered stuffed mushrooms, after long wait they were served icebox cold. Also no silverware. Owner came over and said they changed size of mushrooms that day and didn't heat long enough. Said they were in soft opening mode and still learning. We didn't order dinner. Place still needs some work . Lots of nails still in wall where old pictures once hung. Wait staff where poorly dressed and didn't seem to be in the know. A very long way to go if they are going to make it. read more

Well, it's the 5th day after opening, and our experience was similar to Trent N's opening day review. Look's like no progress has been made in those 5 days. 50 minutes after ordering, our waitress informed us that the order printer had stopped working, and the kitchen did not receive our order. 15 minutes later our food arrived, accompanied by a weak apology for our wait. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was very good. It came sauced, but I would have preferred that the sauce were served on the side, so that I could add to my taste. (A customer at a neighboring table also had the pulled pork sandwich, but it came without sauce. She asked the waitress, and later the busboy, for some sauce and, as of 15 minutes later, when we were leaving, she had yet to receive any sauce.) The fries served with the sandwich, were cold and soggy. My wife had spinach artichoke dip, which was very bland/flavorless. She brought most of it home to spice it up a little. In an attempt to compensate us for our wait and poor service, the manager cut our bill in half. As we were leaving the restaurant, my wife said that she thinks this was our worst dining experience. I think we've had worse, but I can't remember when. I'd like to return in a few weeks to give the Stackhouse another chance, but I don't think I'll be able to get my wife to go with me. read more

First time. Party of six. I had the pulled pork on a hoagie. Melt in your mouth pulled pork, topped with slaw. This awesome sandwich with tasty sauce was the best pulled pork I've eaten since traveling in the South. One of us had wings which he enjoyed. Another couple had black and blues (burgers with blue cheese and bacon) and they enjoyed them. You have a choice of fries, sweet potato fries, mac and cheese, garlic bread, green beans or fruit Service was prompt and pleasant. We will return!!! Great addition to the neighborhood. read more
