Oof. I'm not sure I get an "Irish Pub" vibe from the inside, which feels more like you're in the basement of a church. The smoke filled air, the MISERABLE looking people parked at the bar who I assume are regulars- not exactly a friendly bunch. It's pretty much where dreams go to die. A group of us came here just to hang out on a late Saturday night. We came here for a more chill vibe, which it was. Not too loud, my party could hear each other talk and there was music playing. Drinks prices were very reasonable, and the bartender, she was the best. We played pool, talked, danced within our table, and had a blast. Murphy's Bar and Grill is a hole in the wall bar located on Olive next to Pink Galleon and others. However, don't let the exterior fool you. The interior is awesome! They have 2 medium sized rooms with a bar in the middle connecting them. A good amount of seating. We came here on a Saturday during college football and the bar area was full with a couple people here and there in the dining areas. They have really big, new, nice TVs that are showing all the games. They have cheap drink specials and food randomly throughout the week (usually at night). We ordered a couple beers, and their special steak sandwich. It was probably a 8-12 ounce steak cut in half and both halves put in a deliciously flavored piece of toast Honestly, this might be my new place for game day, whether it's Thursday night Football / NBA, or Saturday / Sunday Football. If you have never or recently been to Murphy's, it would be worth a visit. Yes, it's a smoking environment, so it's not for everyone. But it is definitely a FUN sports bar & grill. Large bar and plenty of table space. Fast, friendly bartenders, with fun personalities. And a friendly regular crowd that likes to welcome new-comers. The sports bar style menu has recently been up-graded. New options with many now in-house made. (make sure you try the corned beef and cabbage egg rolls and the onion rings). This place has really good food. But it should be noted that as of 1/31/17 this is a SMOKING establishment. That doesn't make this a bad review, but it would have been nice to know that BEFORE we went. So I'm stating this here. They didn't have a large selection of 'on tap' beers, but what they had made us happy. They had Schnicklefritz and Goose Island IPA. Those are fairly rare in a small bar like this, so it was nice to get. The bartender was very nice and speedy. The food was good. Apparently $5 bud in a bottle is a great deal? The bar is smoky. Maybe 20 people here and I can feel the years dwindling away, in the wrong way. Went during karaoke night and the only recognizable song was Caribbean Queen. Technically, there was also something from the Wizard of Oz. Def not interested in coming back. I've been coming here for years and have always loved the service, specials, and their burgers! They have your typical bar food options, but I recommend trying the bacon cheddar burger (you can get any type of cheese they offer if you're not feeling cheddar). We discovered it one night after work and loved the service, food, and atmosphere of it and decided to make it our "Cheers". Being so close to my apartment and job (walking distance technically) I made this my go-to place. I moved away and changed jobs about 2 years ago but still make sure to try to stop in at least once a month if not more. I've never had better service than you get from Trish and Anita, they always make sure we are taken care of and their always glad we came. I know they recently re-vamped their menu but I've never had a complaint about the food, it's generous portions and always delicious. read more

Was in there last Friday 4/28/17 to listen to a band play and right off the service was great. Stephanie was right on top of it and was all over it all night. Trish also tag teamed and never had to wait for anything that was asked for or ordered. The food was very good, they need to bring back the pretzel sticks appetizer though. It was a very fantastic encounter as I have never been there before and Stephanie lights up the place with her beauty and smile. Will definitely go back.
