Ive been going to Bobby's Place for years. Great bands on the weekends. Staff is always friendly. Food is delicious. Most recently, my husband and I went around 5ish on a Friday night. My husband ordered the steak dinner. I got the French Dip with homemade chips. Food didn't disappoint! It was a little loud with the crowd and band warming up. Arrived around 6:30pm on a Friday night and the place was rockin. The bar area was packed. Didn't have to wait long for the waitress to see us. I ordered the Famous Bob Cheeseburger with cheddar cheese, tomatoes and pickles and french fries as my side. Our food arrived faster than I expected which was great. My burger and fries were hot so great job on getting food quickly to our table after it was cooked. I had the burger cooked medium well and it was spot on. Cudos to the cook! The burger is big then add tomatoes and pickles and it's huge. My three tomato slices were big. Thank you! I received 4 large pickle slices. Thank you again! What kept the burger from being 5 stars is the lack of seasoning/flavor otherwise great job. I was surprised the fries arrived hot which was awesome. The fries need seasoning also to elevate the taste and experience. Our server, Nichol, was awesome. She came back twice after we received our food just to check on us. Great service! Used to be one of my favorite places to drop into now not so much. The bartenders more than likely will ignore you unless you are a regular or you have a penis. Some of them have horrific attitudes, especially Bri. Their only saving grace is their food and some of the male staff. Once most of their long time staff left service has sucked. The choices for new employees were not great at all! Now the crowd that comes in is reckless. Please reevaluate how you guys are running this business. read more

Went there after work on a Monday night. Ordered two Jameson's on the rocks. When I got my receipt on noticed a charge that said "rocks". It was a $4 charge for ICE. My total bill for 2 single Jameson on the rocks..$22!! That is ridiculous....charging for ice. A single shot is a single no matter how you slice it. The bartender told me they charge more since the owners watch every pour via their cameras and they have calculated you get more with ice. That is 100% nonsense. BTW--the bartenders don't tell you there is an up charge for ice. It just shows up on your bill. Stay away unless you want to be charged for ice and you have money to throw away.... read more

Big casual place to get lunch. I've seen this place a handful of times while driving and finally decided to stop in. This place has a big bar and a large seating area. They have lots of TVs so it seems like it'd be a good place to watch a cardinals or blues game. Our waitress was friendly! To eat We got some fried pickles as an appetizer. These were very good and the chipotle ranch was very spicy! To eat I got the southwest grilled chicken sandwich. It was okay for me but it had a lot of cheese. Bobby's Place is a staple in our family as it is close to where we host most events and great for a night out. I was just here Saturday night for a surprise birthday party for a cousin. This was arranged in advance by her spouse and Bobby's Place had a reserved area waiting for us. They also served out a variety of appetizers very quickly and there was a server checking in on our party all evening. She was attentive and quick with orders. Depending on when you go there is usually a live band or a DJ. We were told there wouldn't be a live band this night, but there was one - BONUS! The band was okay, but unfortunately they seemed a bit much for the small venue. The music was so loud I couldn't hear even the person next to me and that was a bit disappointing. This is not usually the case here... Some of us had tabs at the bar - I did. The bartenders were friendly, efficient and make a great white russian! They also have a nice large outdoor patio - great for nice weather (not so much on Saturday). Note: this bar does still allow smoking inside, so if you are a smoker - this place is for you! If not, know that going in. It does not ever get "too smoky" in my opinion, but still a good to know before going. read more

Hungry on a Tuesday night, we stopped by for a bite to eat. Perfect bar-like setting. Great service from our waitress. I ordered a "fruity martini"- no drink menu. We also ordered the crab Rangoon appetizer and a steak sandwich. The drink was perfect, not too sweet, not to strong. More carb Rangoon on my plate (7) than most places serve. I was very upset when my husband ate the last one when I wasn't looking. He really enjoyed the fries and the steak of course. Lots of TVs with everything imaginable playing. Huge patio. They even had corn hole games in the parking lot as we were leaving. My only complaint was the smoky smell. When we attempted to escape that issue on the patio, it was worse. Worst. Service. Ever. I've been wanting to try Bobby's Place for a long time now, based on several recommendations. After a particularly difficult day I decided to drop in for dinner and a beer, and watch the World Series. I got my own beer from the bar, sat down at a table next to the patio door, and I sat...and I sat...and I sat...I nursed my beer for ONE HOUR, and was never offered a fresh beer, a menu, or even a glass of water. The three 20-somrthing waitresses on duty worked the tables on either side of mine, worked the tables on the patio, and passed by me over a dozen times, always avoiding eye contact. As an older guy with shaggy hair, no beard, and no ball cap I guess I just don't fit the Bobby's Place demographic. You may feel welcome there but I did not. The women's restroom was horrendous- the exhibits at the St. Louis Zoo smelled better. Our group was disappointed to say the least. Nice way to lose business. Four star bar, but I'm removing a star because it's a smoking bar. I don't like the smell of cigarettes. It's a blue collar crowd. Cool place. Bobby's is a sports bar that focuses on hockey. However, if you come here to watch a game, grab a table. The bar is in the center of the room, but the TV's are spread along the perimeter of the restaurant. You don't have a good view of a TV if you sit at the bar. Great happy hour specials. I went here on a Friday and from 4:00-8:00, they had $2 domestic drafts and 1/2 price appetizers. Bobby's has pub grub, but their menu is broader than a lot of sports bars. The server recommended burgers, wings and catfish nuggets. I ordered a cheeseburger and tater tots. The burger was good; the tots were great! I can see where the catfish nuggets would be good since they bread their food by hand. The server was a sweetheart. She was patient with my many questions. I wish she could have been quicker to check on my table, but it was a busy Friday night and she was covering most of the bar. She did a good job under the circumstances. Great dive bar! If you love bar food, beer, and hockey, you can't go wrong. I recently stopped by this place for the first time for a St. Patty's Day meal and to watch the Sabres/Blues game. Felisha was our server and she was amazing!!! The restaurant was packed and she was the only server on at the time. We never once felt looked over or forgotten about. I've never felt so taken care of by a server before. We got a few buckets of beer and she always seemed to swing by just as we ran out to get us another one. Food was alright but we weren't expecting a 5 star meal. Overall, a great experience. I took off one star just because it is a smoking bar. Just a warning for those who have an aversion to cigarette smoke: avoid this place like the plague. Nothing memorable in terms of food. I found the burgers to be just okay. The only thing that stood out to me here was there fried pickles which are cut very thinly and then battered. As for the pizzas, they are very thin and bland. Overall, the menu is very limited (mainly pizzas and burgers, but what can you expect? It's a bar). Bobby's doesn't distinguish itself from other bars although it is located in a nice area. There are the typical game slot machines near the entrance of the building and a few tv's scattered throughout. If you're looking for a place to socialize and drink beer, this place will do. Wow....I am not sure what to write here but what an experience! A few of us met up there last night to catch up and see ADD, a great band. First and foremost, the place is really smoky. It is a bar so it is totally understandable. I just mention it to you if you have issues with smoke. Other than that, this place is priceless. Our waitress was attentive and nice even though she had a ton of tables to manage. The beers were cold and the mixed drinks were stiff, which is a bonus. Personally, I do enjoy when you can actually taste the booze in a mixed drink but that is my own preference. I cannot speak to the food but it looked like your standard bar food. The best part of the visit was the crowd. Boy, what a treat. There was a guy at the bar who had a mustache drawn on his face...I couldn't make this up if I tried... This is one of those places that draws customers in with the waitresses and their skimpy attire. So I'll review on their main draw. When we were there, the waitressess cover the spectum from "drop dead amazing" (yes there is one) all the way down to "trashy hot". Yep, that's as low as it goes. If you like to watch a game with eye candy, this place doesn't disappoint. Only downside was the volume of Affliction t-shirt wearing Jersey shore wannabes. We ordered two mixed drinks plus a pitcher of Budweiser, the server had to come back to ask if we wanted a pitcher or bucket, and what of. Then she charged us for a bucket and gave us Bud Light. Gotta love a place who gets its namesake from Bobby Plager, one of the most charismatic and beloved people to ever wear the Blue Note. This place gives you everything. You can get cheap, fast lunch specials guaranteed in under 15 mins as well as daily specials. They run some good drink specials as well, including cheap pitchers on Thursdays. They also feature the 40 oz Busch bottles, which I am partial to. Rotating craft beer taps were a nice touch for a bar in this area. I've eaten here a handful of times and its always tasty... steak sandwich, pizza, wings.... all very good. Its bar food, but its good bar food. They make their own wing sauce which is tangier than most. They do allow smoking, but theres a patio also. Found this place by accident actually. Went in for drinks on a Thursday night and realized I just walked into Bob Plager's place!! "Number 5 in your program, Number 1 in your hearts". I was ecstatic. I saw Bob there in the back, I said hi and so wanted to ask for his autograph but felt that was not appropriate. I might go back again and ask Bob for his autograph. After all, he is an icon of the STL. Blues. I had a nice time. The music was good. I Did not like the margaritas though. Our waitress was very friendly and kept us content. :) A band took the stage at 10pm. I was shocked to see this place rocking on a weeknight. I would say the only negative thing was the cigarette smoke. It was not over powering but for someone that does not smoke, it was taking its toll on me. But I toughed it out.
