I haven't ate here in a couple of years and the food (the food I had) has went downhill. I also didn't know that they had lost their alcohol license which was a major bummer. For the appetizer I had the Double Dipper. The spinach dip lacked any flavor and the pimento cheese was ok. The bread points were just drowned in butter. The cucumbers were slimy and thinly sliced. Also it came with celery which I don't eat at all. The menu said fresh vegetables. I should have asked. My fault there. I got the French Broad Burger which was pretty good considering. Sweet potato fries were good too. The service was amazing! Everyone was so friendly!!! Went early on Saturday evening and unlike before it was slow but with the amount that was there it was a great little chatter time! If you visit or live in this area you'll definitely need to come here. The inside was warm with wood everywhere and the staff were all super friendly. They're still working on getting their alcohol license so there was no beer to drink, sadly but the food made up for the loss of it. My wife ordered the fried mushrooms which she didn't like but I thought they were good with a slight crunch and then creamy insides with an earthy flavor. We split the brisket sliders withe sweet potato fries and the brisket had a good flavor to it but I recommend getting their house BBQ sauce that was sweet with a fruity flavor but also made with veggies like carrots. Stopped in for dinner on a family vacation and I was pleasantly surprised! The service was great and the server was as nice as could be! Very patient and friendly. The restaurant has an older feel to it but could also just be quaint and country! The onion rings and Buffalo chicken fry plate were good! I would order these again. The brisket was good! Some pieces were more tender than others but I was happy overall. The salad and burgers were also very solid. The food seemed to be decent quality, good temperature and came out quickly despite the small crew there that night. The food here is the star. Generous portions at reasonable prices. Service was a little slow but in the sleepy little town of Mars Hill, NC, I don't suspect anyone is really in any kind of hurry. Craving some mouthwatering brisket and juicy burgers, we embarked on an adventure to this charming Main St eatery. Lucked out with a parking spot right in front of the restaurant and were greeted warmly by the hostess. At the moment, they are unable to serve alcohol, and not sure when they will change. We had already decided on what we were ordering before we even arrived so there was no turning back. And boy, did they deliver! The brisket is simply amazing, I had the sliders with a nice side salad and it was perfection. Overall, the inside is nice and cozy, and the place got packed for dinner. It was 2 ish pm and we were both so hungry. With it being Wed before Thanksgiving, I think they were short staffed but they did very well. Our 8 top came in around 2:00 p.m. We go there and minutes later, the place was slammed. Our girl, Molly rocked it. She waited on the whole place tables, bar, and hostess!! She explained the menu and her top favs. Beer was on point, recommend the Blueberry Cider and the Jade IPA. Now for food. The pimento cheese was one of the best I've ever had. We will give it a second shot, I always give places another shot when I don't like my experience the first time because it could just be an off day. They were slightly busy when we went Food: I got the wings, the dry seasoned ones. The seasoning was lacking flavor...and the wings were dry tasted old...slightly sour taste. I didn't finish them because of this. My husbands dish was also dry and lacking flavor Service: clearly they are understaffed and the staff they had the day I went said they were new. My son played a baseball game at Mars Hill University, so we stopped by here after. The servers were extremely nice. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. Portions were huge and we could've shared a lot of dishes. No alcohol is served here--not an issue, but some diners might want to know. We would definitely return here. We were traveling around the WNC area with three granddaughters, and decided to stop in Mars Hill for lunch. Stack House looked like it could be a great choice that everyone could enjoy, and we were not disappointed. I had the French Broad burger with a side salad, and hubby had a lettuce wrap burger. The grand daughters had Chicken Fingers, a Forks of Ivy salad, and the Chimney Rock. Everyone enjoyed their food, and the restaurant had delicious chocolate eclairs as a special dessert! I was most miserable, because eclairs are one of my top favorite desserts, and I can't eat them, due to gluten intolerance. Waaaahhh!! Go there! Been here twice First time was for lunch and the food was good. Service was a bit slow but not terrible. I liked the interior vibe kind of old school bar food but a little elevated. Based on the first experience I took my girlfriend for dinner. Since my first time was lunch I hadn't noticed they didn't serve any alcohol. Not even beer or wine which is as a bummer. But we stayed for dinner. This time the food wasn't as good as the first time. Everything seemed over done and dried out. I don't know if they lost the alcohol license or gave it up (I sense it was the former) but no beer or wine loses a star for me. And inconsistent food is another lost star. First time diner at the Stack House. Couldn't be in a better location in "downtown Mars Hill." It's right on the corner of Main Street and NC 213. Pretty decent number of patrons on Tuesday afternoon. It has a laid-back ambiance and geographic names for menu items. It's a robust menu and you can "build your own stack" as well. I had the Exit 11 burger with fries and "home made" cherry Coke. It took a while, but hit the spot with excellent fries and a juicy burger. Service was excellent. read more

The best place to eat in Mars Hill. I usually get the Rocky Ridge Fries but tonight I switched it up and got the Dry Ridge Sandwich which had Fried chicken, goat cheese (which sold me) and grilled apples(also sold me) and honey mustard. I got it on sourdough bread which was beautiful and so filling. It is very socially distanced and they explain the strict mask rules at the doo. I always love eating here! We have been several times over the last couple of years. Every time we're in the area it is always one of the highlights of our visit. Sad that they are having issues with their liquor license; they used to have a great selection of delicious craft beers on tap. However, the food was so good that I didn't even miss the beer. Great Burgers, for anywhere. The only complaints I have about the place are the smokers in the front and the cooks that smoke in the back. When the people smoke in front of the restaurant it goes through the restaurant, same as the back alley way for the cooks. The servers are always attentive. Hamburger sliders are a whole hamburger cut into 4 quarters and placed on 4 small buns. Not the little individual hamburgers you get at other restaurants. Brisket sliders had very little meat on them. Carmelized onions and smoked Gouda were the tiniest amount. Had to ask for more onions. Had to ask for bbq sauce for brisket. Catsup was in the tiniest paper cup, had to ask for more. Suggestions: Don't offer 4 sliders on the menu if you can't give enough meat to go with the buns. Put the bbq sauce in squeeze bottles so people can taste the variety you offer and decide what they like. Put bbq sauces, catsup and other condiments on table. Waitress has enough to do. read more

A great addition to Mars Hill's restaurant scene. My companion had a wonderful burger with awesome onion rings. I had a salad with chicken, and we tried the brisket because we'd heard it was good!
