The bfast bar

This place was a chain. But good. It was kind of a create your own plate. Service was just okay and all online. It was busy. And it fit the bill for a pancake fix. Ambiance was busy and okay. If you need pancakes and you can't find local then this is your spot. Sorry just wasn't favorite vibe. But not bad.

Food portions were huge!! So many different types of pancakes and the coffee was smooth. Service was fast and workers were friendly. Cute and roomy restaurant too. Would recommend!

Peaches&Cream single pancake £££ w/cold syrup
Lotus H.

We were the first customers of the day the hostess was friendly and asked us to order online w/QR code but we had wifi issues so she gladly took our order. Coffee was very good (bottomless) ordered the single stack Peaches& Cream- enjoyed the toppings but expected the pancake to be hot and fluffy- it was just lukewarm and dense, with cold pancake syrup on the side. Bring your wallet- for 1 pancake it was over £10. Interior is nice and the place filled up quickly. Very touristy with multiple locations. Bus stop is just out front.

Smoked salmon & avocado stack

Amazing selection of savory and sweet pancakes. I ate there twice in town and once at the airport. Service was excellent and I was recognized the 2nd time I went.

Banana Stack (gluten free)

We came to Stack and Still on a Sunday morning, around 9 am and were seated right away! The our host and waiter were very friendly. The gluten free selection was fantastic! Most of their pancakes can be made with gluten free pancakes and modified for other dietary restrictions like vegan, vegetarian, etc! We tried the gluten free banana pancakes and the standard big breakfast stack. They were both fantastic! It was quiet yet buzzy, the coffee was fresh, and the food was amazing - what more could you ask of a brunch spot?

Salmon/omelet/avocado combo + make your own combo

Our whole family enjoyed our dinner at Stack & Still. The flavor combos are unlimited. Most of our got pancakes with generously-portioned toppings and there were no complaints. My husband ordered a cheeseburger and said it was the best he'd had all week!

Buttermilk pancakes with chocolate chips

Pancakes were so good and this is coming from an American. Loved the chocolate chips and strawberries were great too. So cute in there and service was quick.

Nice modern diner atmosphere

I visited the Rose Street location in Edinburgh. The decor and atmosphere is very nice and modern. The drip coffee tasted a bit too old and as if it sat for a bit. I do wish the fruit was fresher as well, it was already turning brown when placed on my pancakes the buttermilk pancakes themselves were SO sweet, even without the syrup! Just a heads up! Staff was very kind and courteous, just wish the food tasted as good as the restaurant looked!

This place is awesome and delicious. Must try if you like pancakes. I got a single stack with Lemon curd and maple syrup came with bottomless coffee. My friend got the pork & chorizo signature dish! Sounds weird but it was seriously good!!! Super cute place friendly staff yummy food.

I believe the mezzanine is free to hire during the week. First up - this place is really, really dark. I actually don't even know how it's so dark, even in the middle of the day. It really does take a bit for your eyes to adjust to the place. The decor is a bit outdated but nothing offensive and the mezzanine space is great as it's actually quite bright and cosy without being squashy (mind your head if you're tall!). There's a good wine list and they are reasonably priced. We had a few platters for our group - vegetarian and meat - and they both seemed to be very well received, particularly the red pepper hummus on the veggie platter. From what I remember, the platters are described as serving 2 people but I'd actually say it's more like 4 as they're really quite big. On the night we visited, it was really busy as it was Easter Thursday and so our reserved area was hotly sought-after by people looking for a seat. When I was leaving later in the night, there was lots of rowdy blokes downstairs so that was a little off-putting (but I was on my way out anyway). I expect that on a normal night this is a quite a pleasant bar to hang out in.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that all the food was that of the light bite nature - the pate and oatcakes went extremely well with my choice of wine (or so the waiter told me; to me, they were just incredibly tasty). Trying to choose which glass of wine I'd like was the hardest part - they have over 13 pouring wines, ranging from pinot grigios to prosecco...mmm... and that's not including the hundred other bottles we could have had (not that I would spend anywhere near £218 on a bottle of anything). It's a nice little place - it's got a rustic feel about it, and is frequented by a generally older crowd (ok, I'd say maybe 75% of the customers had greying or white hair, which isn't a bad thing, but I'm 20-something, and it's not EXACTLY my kinda place). I can see why it's popular - the food, the wine, and the ambience - and it has made me actually reconsider my initial statement - however, I may be a few years off becoming a regular, as yet.

Searching online for somewhere that was just a little bit different for a special occasion, we came across Le Petit Cochon and liked the look of the seafood choices on the menu. It's just a few steps off the main drag in Radnor Street (opposite the end of Kelvin Way), and seems to have been a burger bar in a former life. It was a Monday night, so they weren't exactly busy, and so the service was friendly and attentive, and we were soon tucking into our starters. We had the hot smoked salmon and asparagus as a starter, and straight away I realised that the food was going to be great, as the asparagus was cooked to perfection. Often the ends of the stems can get a bit stringy, but not here. Not stringy and not limp, just perfect crunch. For mains, we both had the pollock, which is a fish you don't see that much here, although it is becoming more popular. The portion size seemed a bit small, but in retrospect it was just right as it left room for some pudding! Again, the veg were cooked to 'al dente' perfection. The whole was washed down with a half-carafe of very dry white wine from their extensive wine list, and we left replete and happy.

However, the weather forecast was for rain! After a bit of head-scratching, we realised that Princes Square offered the perfect solution; we could sit 'outside' the restaurant but still be 'inside' the vast atrium of Princes Square and protected from the rain. Perfect! Sadly, we weren't allowed any alcohol as current restrictions prohibit drinking outside. I know, I know... we were still technically 'inside', but I wasn't prepared to argue the point. I'm not usually a huge fan of tapas eating - I prefer a more conventional starter/main course style of ordering, but with three of us we were able to order a good selection of dishes - their recommended three each - providing a good smorgasbord for us to choose from. The dishes were all very tasty, I particularly liked the Cocido de Judias Blancas (aka bean stew), and Patatas Bravas are always a favourite. I was a little disappointed with the Dorada a la Parilla (sea bass); given that it was one of the more expensive items on the menu, the portion size was a bit measly. It was, however, cooked just right. Clean plates all round and we were all satisfyingly full afterwards. Apart from a minor glitch on the drinks order - they forgot to bring one and I had to go and remind them - everything else was fine. So a thumbs up from us, and I'll happily return here in future.

Mussels in saffron was enjoyable and light while the chicken skewers were heavier and also delicious. Dessert was not wasted with a plate of churros though I probably would order something else next time just to diversify. Of all three types of sangria we had I would order the cava again. Sweet and light, it was easily the best choice.

Funnily enough, I had tagged along to the very same party with Mr M. below, as a group of us sheepishly walked in, unsure if we were welcome due to our friend of a friend of a friend relationship with the soon to be bride and groom. However we needn't have worried, everyone was in such good spirits, probably as a result of having downed plenty of them. When we went to the bar, feeling rather cheeky, we ordered a shot. I was amazed when my £1.50 bought me: not just any shot, but a small glass with several unmeasured glugs that were more than a mouthful. Amazing! The cheesy DJ added to this place's old fashioned family charm, with everyone up on the dancefloor by the end of the night, ourselves included. You can't help but fall in love with this place, for its old fashioned family hospitality and not so measured drinks that make your money go further, and your dance moves all the more ridiculous.

I was here for a friends engagement, where everyone was merry and the drinks were flowing. Not a drinker myself I got the apparent amusement of watching the party goers old, very old, young and very young dance and sing the night away. We all had a great time. The suite itself was a good size for our party, of what was around 70 people. So not to big, but just as well because the buffet wouldn't have went much further. With all the classic buffet foods, just like Peter Kay says. Whats great about these sorts of things is just that every one ends up just so friendly, celebrations are so much more fun than a normal night out because everyone is in great spirits.
