My kids were visiting from Denver and so we went out to the Saint John's River Grill in Deland and we had a really good time. You can even take your dogs with you and two designated areas which was really fun. The food was really good. The atmosphere is great. You sit right there on the river and watch the boats come in and out and there's lots of RV places the restaurant is very good food. We had some fish and chips and some. Hamburgers and they were really good. Their staff was really polite and nice and quick to serve. Great views very scenic. You should try it. I highly recommend it. read more

Great place to stop if you're on the river or using the marina. We sat upstairs at the tiki bar and enjoyed the view. There is also indoor seating downstairs at the main restaurant. We were told we'd have a 10 minute wait to be seated, NOT. I told the young girl hostess there were empty tables all over the place. She said there weren't enough servers. A couple at a table said that they were waiting for their food a very long time. Not enough cooks either? I asked the young teenage girl for the manager and she said the manager wasn't available. Four of us enjoyed lunch outside by the river this afternoon. My wife and Sister-in Law had the Blackened Mahi dinner with vegetables and fries. The fish was perfectly cooked and very tasty. My Brother had a Cheeseburger which he enjoyed very much. I had the Jambalaya. Very good with the right amount of spice. It had a ton of fresh shrimp, tasty andouille sausage and plenty of chicken. IMHO the Jambalaya was the star of the meal. We also enjoyed drinks especially the DeLand punch. The atmosphere at the St. Johns Marina is great with the marina views and casual bar and dining area. This was last week, but someone named "Ian" delayed my review! One of many places to eat on the St John's river and it was great. My club sandwich was HUGE. I'm not kidding, every one was like, we should have ordered THAT! I could barely it half, it was very tasty. My friends had the corned beef reuben and the pulled pork sandwich, both chose coleslaw as the side. I can't comment on their French fries as I elected not to upgrade, but I would have hadt9 give up a quarter of my club to have room for any. We went last night. We had went about a year ago and I thought it was ok. Wow. I don't know if they got a new cook or what, but it was fantastic. My husband got a Reuben and it was gigantic. We were told about this restaurant so on a whim we decided to go. What a nice surprise. It is right on the St. John's River (hence the name) but the food was surprisingly good. I had the fried shrimp basket and asked them to "undercook the shrimp, I don't want rubber shrimp". In place of slaw I asked for a side salad. The salad was freshly made, ice-cold and quite good. The shrimp was overcooked the first time, and with apologies, returned with a high quality plate. My husband ordered the jambalaya. He was delighted it was NOT so spicy he couldn't eat it. Hubs & I were with our friend so we each got a different taco and then shared one of each. That gave us each three completely different taco adventures. My shrimp taco was the best tasting shrimp--even hubs liked it. He thinks shrimp has no flavor. I think he was dropped on his head as a child. ;p Service was speedy and friendly. We spent the afternoon at the rooftop bar while camping at the KOA, it appeared most of the patrons were camping as well on this holiday weekend. The Tiki Hut bar is a great amenity of this restaurant as it is for the campground, Katie was tending the bar during our visit, her customer service skills and friendly personality made for a perfect day drinking event. The bar is stock with top shelf liquor, a few popular drafts and accommodations for all your frozen drink pleasures. It was a sugar free RedBull and Tito's kind of day for me, the Florida heat and humidity required doubles with lot of ice and it only took a nod in Katie's direction to get another set-up. My girl was trying out the frozen side of the menu and being each came with a side-car I certainly had to taste the creative concoctions coming from the blender. Although I kept to my choice of drinks I must say the frozen cocktails were on par. The elevated view of the river is breathtaking, the deck wrapping the bar has a number of tables and a row of stools so there's plenty of seating options, it's obvious this place can get busy, but today the clientele seem to come and go after grabbing a bite and a drink or two. We tried a few appetizers to balance out the buzz, the gator bites were prepared perfectly and served with a Chili Thai sweet dipping sauce with a little heat I definitely recommend these. After a few more cocktails we decided to try the giant pretzel, I didn't read the full description but I'm guessing this salty treat is deep fried or maybe oiled and baked in a very hot oven, the center was nice and chewy encrusted in a crispy outer shell, although I didn't care for the beer cheese accompanying it I could snack on these all afternoon. We didn't come here to dine but the majority of the customers were enjoying burgers, they seemed legit I didn't hear any complaints between sips. It appears they use bar-backs or runners to get the food up to this elevated platform for Katie to distribute after inspecting each plate for accuracy. I'm a fan of Tiki Bars and this one literally takes it to another level (no pun intended). This place is close enough to frequent and the campground takes the drive out of the equation so it's a no-brainer for me and I wouldn't change a thing, it's got an Old Florida Charm element so some may find it a tad rustic so you can check any pretentiousness at the bottom of the stairs and enjoy... read more

Wide open with great views. Had some great pub food with fried pickles that were breaded a little heavy but very tasty. A fish sandwich with a large portion of mahi and some really tasty buffalo shrimp. Go for the view, stay for the fun! We had lunch at St. John's River Grille while we were down in the Hontoon Landing area. The location is great, right on the St. John's River. This part of the river (south of Lake George) has such a different character (We're avid boaters on the top half of the river). May I recommend you go to the roof-top bar for a beverage before or after your meal? It's a sweet spot. Back to the restaurant - The food was really good. The Gator bites were perfect. I personally am not a fan of the sweet/sour sauce with gator bites, but they were very tasty. My Wife got a burger basket, and I got the blackened Mahi sandwich. Both of them very tasty. Went to the Grill for late lunch with family this past Sunday (3/23/25), about 2 p.m. Once we were seated and orders given, we had a promises from waitress that food would be right out - on 2 separate occasions. A good 45 minutes after ordering, the food arrived. My 9 and 11 year old grandsons were over-hungry at this point, and my daughter and I could not understand the delay. If the food was great, we could forgive the wait time. That was not the case. Our big 11 year old ordered the chicken tenders and fries off the adult menu. What arrived after the long wait was a kids chicken nuggets meal. The 9 year old ordered the kids mac & cheese. He gets this kind of meal everywhere we go. The portion that came out was in a dip cup, not even a bowl! I ordered the peel and eat shrimp. These poor shrimp were so over cooked and tought! To say we were disappointed is an understatement. We pulled into the campground late in the day and had little time to set up camp before dark. This restaurant is located right in the middle of the marina and campground. So it was real handy for us to pick up a go order for our dinner. She and I both ordered the Butterfly Shrimp. I enjoyed my shrimp and fries. Summary: Good food, nice waitress, clean bathrooms, nice dock. Food: split the beef hotdog with sauerkraut and seasoned fries and slaw, so you can also order a burger or delicious Reuben sandwich. The onion rings were a bit greasy. There's a great view from the bar on the top deck, but eating downstairs is definitely cooler. You can eat inside or outside. Signs said masks required but hardly anyone wore them since Volusia County doesn't require it. If you want to see masks on everyone go to Orange or Seminole. read more

We've been looking for new places outside the regular chains in and around lake mary. We were in orange city and found this. Even though it's a bit of a drive ( 35 mins from lake mary ) and probably shorter by boat man was this place worth it. I had jambalaya and maybe the best ever had. Wife had mahi and it was good. Firecracker shrimp to start and very good. They 100% hit the seasoning. Being on the river is great to sit and watch. We were on the patio and it was good. It's trivia night! Monday nights at 7 they have trivia and the top prizes are gift cards for the restaurant. The menu just recently expanded again (it was limited due to corona for a while) and brought back some great things like gator mac and cheese and jambalaya.
