My husband and I just went to the cemetery to visit his mothers grave for mothers Day. It is so disappointing how horribly it's maintained. There are graves that have sunk so much it's mostly dirt. A tree dies and they don't replace it. The grass is horrendous I should say what grass it's dirt. So unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend anyone use this cemetery there are many others better kept up. read more

I was just at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery and it is awful how this once beautiful place has gone downhill. My family members go back to the very early 1900's and my paternal grandfather had a stained glass window installed under our family name. The grass is dead, gophers are tunneling all over the place, upturning the grave stones and the trees are just a disaster waiting to happen. It is an absolute shame. read more

I am appalled by what I just witnessed at the Saint Francis cemetery! This is the cemetery where my mother, sister and other loved ones are buried. Somone on the board decided they wanted to save money and remove all of the grass and trees and cover it with dirt , making the place look like a nuclear bomb hit. Not sure who their right mind would give St. Francis five stars. I can tell you first hand this cemetery is by far the worse place to lay your loved ones to rest. Ive laid my seventeen year old daughter Desiree at St. Francis's and for the last three years it has been a constant heart break. St. Francis states you can decorate, however that can't be further from the truth. Rules state you may decorate and that the decorations will be discarded quarterly. What they don't tell you is that anything placed for your loved ones such as lights or lawn decorations are gathered up and toss daily. On top of their strict no decorations their lawn care is abysmal! They do not water or maintain the lawn at all. Im forced to replace my daughters site yearly with fresh sod. If you're considering this place, please do not. Your loved ones deserve so much better! If it were at all possible I would relocate. read more

The management was disrespectful and outright racist. Do not recommend. The funeral service for a family member was ruined because the staff threatened to "call police" and staff demanded that the banda musicians leave the property. This pre-approved band was rejected at the last minute and had to play on the sidewalk. I overheard their disdain for the musical choice ("only mariachi") which was insulting, as if their opinion mattered. They were horrible to the band and our family. I recently purchased a plot at this cemetary to be close to my parents when I pass. I plan to be cremated , yet we celebrate All Souls' Day and Day of the Dead at my parents gravesite so I wanted to pass on this celebration to my children, as they have gone to St Francis with me to celebrate their nana and tata for many years. I worked the Andy Miller on two occasions and he was simply fantastic, compassionate, and knowledgable !! I highly recommend working with Andy. read more

I went for Mother's Day, and I took beautiful balloons, beautiful yellow roses for mom and beautiful red carnations for dad and put them in their vase that belongs to their plot. Also a little cupcake well sealed that was my mom's favorite flavor. After all the family and I departed about an hour at that half at the most, I returned to be alone, and pray on my own. I was so so upset, everything was stolen from my parents, grave site! In less than an hour and a half! Even their vase that belongs to their marker! I went to the office, upset and disgusted, and all I was told was there's nothing we can do. This is not the first time they stolen bases. I suggested cameras, and they said they could not. I have so much family there. I wish I could move them all! I'm just disgusted. Also, on the way they keep the grounds. I have to trim my own lawn around my parents marker because they half A job!!! I'm just sick to my stomach. I go to the cemetery very often sometimes every day if not every three days. I'm just tired of all this. I am only giving one star because there is no lower option! Whoever owns, runs and manages this cemetery should be ashamed of themselves. The grounds are a disgrace all year long despite the season. Huge gopher holes, dry hard dirt, dead grass, long weeds, and sunken head stones. This is the place where everyone pays so much money to lay their loved ones to rest eternally. I have a mother, a brother and other generations of family here like many others do in our beautiful state. This is a Catholic cemetery and this what we need to see as the surrounding environment when we visit our loved ones at their resting place when we come visit, in such a disgusting disrespected way! If you truly care about your loved ones final resting place, LOOK ELSEWHERE! We have encountered what many people, here have conveyed. Once this 'business' has your $$, they could care less afterward. The words in other reviews: unprofessional. uncaring and rude, appointments not even documented or kept are not uncommon, and underscore my experiences. In our case adjoining crypts that were purchased in the mid 1960's, with Robert interred then. Betty passed on 02/22/2022, and was interred the first of March. The closing of the crypt was shoddy and the original detail of the outer surface not returned to original state, and looks horrible. This is the most prominent bank of crypts East and closest to 48th St. See for yourselves, to the right/South side of the structure. I have encountered excuse after excuse after constant, we don't have information about you calling, coming in before. I was advised by an elder man, white hair and using a cane, that "the person who was supposed to order the name plate, who is no longer employed by us, did not order the plate. After another 6 weeks I contact them again, only to be told they would call back when they found the information needed to answer my inquiry/concern. Received a call today, advising that the estimated placement was March 2023!! A full year after interment. Unacceptable. This has further made me embarrassed and quite frankly, disgusted, to be a Catholic. read more

Rich Craven was evil and just plain rude to my elderly Mother. The vases we ordered were never put in and he tried to tell us that they were there and just covered up. BS! I also find this place very unprofessional and uncaring. I paid for a crypt ten years ago. I was getting some documents together and noticed that my name on my Certificate of Interment Rights was spelled incorrectly. Now one would think that this should be an easy fix. Oh no, Carmen, who I contacted about a year ago just never made a change and also never contacted me again. I sort of put it out of my mind and just the other day remembered that it was never corrected. Rather than calling I made an appointment. When I arrived at the time scheduled for me there again was nobody that had a clue about the appointment I had scheduled. I did get a chance to speak to Carmen and she assured me that this time there would be a change made to my certificate with my correct name. That is rather an important issue I would think. Again nothing happened at all. It's been three months since I met with Carmen and no certificate. Today I called the office and of course, Carmen is not working. I talked to Edmond, who told me that there is no record of me meeting with Carmen or me requesting my correct name to be issued on my certificate for our crypt. Also, I want to note that the phone rang and rang and rang and eventually totally disconnected. All this took three long ringing phone calls before Edmond finally answered. Can they not afford to hire a person to man the phone? Really? I can't imagine not being able to get in touch with this cemetery when you really need to talk to someone in regards to matters concerning a loved one that just passed. It's a disgrace that they don't have anyone answer the phone. Conveniently the website of St. Francis Cemetery has no names of persons in charge of this business. It obviously is a business and runs like a business with very little compassion or caring. Who is the president of this business or their marketing director etc? Apparently, the staff does not need to be held accountable for their services and any concerns that families have are not addressed at a higher level to promote some changes. read more

Unfortunately our family had a terrible experience with St. Francis Cemetery. I wish we had other options but Phoenix is quite limited. We had dealt with a counselor named Liz P. and I warn others if you need to make arrangements do not use her, ask for another counselor. She started off friendly then as we got into details her attitude completely changed. She speaks in a condescending manner that borders on rudeness at times. Multiple phone calls and messages had to be left since she did not return phone calls or emails. I understand there are other people to attend to and we were not the only one she was helping but I had to call numerous times and leave a message to finally have her call back. This went on for days. My husband said what in the world is her problem after listening to her on my speaker phone and then said lets just go somewhere else and I said not at this point. Ive spoken to our family and we are making changes to our burial wishes and will no longer be using St.Francis when the time comes in the future. read more

I will spare you the details, Let me just say the people at this place are wonderful. My wife Janie was placed here back in 81' May. she was lost to me as I did not know where she was placed. I was in coma when she was placed. Later the people helped me find her. After that an attempt was made to disinter her. They were able to keep her there. God bless this place. May she rest in peace.. Not a pleasant experience - surely there are better cemeteries in Phoenix My mother had prepaid for internment of her ashes and I had conversation with the cemetery prior to showing up for the burial. When I got there, it was as if I hadn't made an appointment (had driven 2 hours to get there) and then it went downhill from there. The staff I spoke to were all very formal and, while I didn't expect Comedy Club behavior, they were not pleasant or friendly, they were rude. There was some "confusion" about where my mother's ashes would be buried and instead of answering perfectly reasonable questions when I got to the cemetery and it was obvious that they'd opened my grandmother's grave (my father's ashes were already interred in the same plot as his mother's), the representative hemmed and hawed and gave me what turned out later to be completely inaccurate information about why, instead of being buried next to her husband's ashes, my mother's were interred under her mother-in-law's grave marker. Later, I filled out a survey making all of this quite clear - heard nothing. So, I tracked down the CEO & emailed my concerns to him. After 2 weeks and no response, and after emailing again, the manager of the St. Francis cemetery called and in a conversation that could only be described as unfriendly and condescending, he explained exactly why they did what they did and explained that my mother's ashes are, indeed, "next to" my father's because it's all part of the same plot. He also explained the opening of my grandmother's grave, which I did appreciate, but I wonder why the personnel on hand that day couldn't have explained it? It was not a satisfying conversation, I felt like he could hardly wait to get me off the phone (maybe because they already had their money?) and was quite eager to explain the situation to me in a way that made it clear that somehow, although I can't figure out how, this was all because I simply "didn't understand". As I said, condescending. While he made some noises about this incident being a "training opportunity", the sincerity just wasn't there. My reason for saying all of this is because, had I been a recently bereaved person, what happened to me the day I buried my mother's ashes would have been devastating. Sad, upsetting...just devastating. I work in the sales and marketing arena, so perhaps my standards are high but, somehow, no, that's just not it. I don't think these people actually, really, authentically care. Simply put, I don't think these people should be handling the delicate and important business of dealing with grieving families. read more

I choose this cemetery to bury my sister after I visited two other cemeteries. I called ahead and scheduled a time to meet with someone to purchase a cemetery plot here and headed down to the cemetery. I met with a friendly Hispanic woman - I don't remember her name. We sat and talked and she seemed genuinely nice and caring. I didn't feel like I was getting a sales pitch from her. No hard sell at all. I didn't feel like a walking dollar bill talking with her. She has a very empathetic nature about her. The office is located next to the cemetery where the plots were available. She took me on a viewing tour to see the different plots that were available by car instead of a golf cart. We could have driven with her in her car but we choose to follow behind her in our car. The cemetery covers a large area of land with subsections / subdivisions on both sides of the street. We got out of our car in the area where plots were available and walked over to the area that my sister could be buried at. The cemetery is nicely maintained. There are pretty statues and mature and newly planted trees. They don't charge extra if you choose a plot next to a tree, you can choose any plot that is available. The plot area where the stand up monuments are located do cost more, but we didn't want a stand up plot. When we found a space that we liked, we sat down on the space and talked about the details. I knew that I found the right place. The place just had a nice feel. This is a Catholic cemetery but you don't have to be Catholic to be buried here. They do require that you have a cross on you gravestone but that was no issue for me, even though I'm not particularly religious. It makes it more peaceful to me if anything. Everything went smoothly from there. They set up a tent and seating area for her burial and it was as nice as it could be expected. The lady that helped us was there at the funeral to make sure everything went smoothly, as well. On a side note, I learned early on about one thing.....Getting fresh flowers to bring to the cemetery is completely useless. They die and look ugly in a day or two. Go to Micheal's Craft Store. They have a huge selection of really pretty artificial flowers - some of them actually look pretty real. Have the artificial flower department sales person cut the stems for you so that it will properly fit the vase. read more

While I think this cemetery has the potential to be a beautiful place, it needs a lot of TLC. The grounds are littered with rubbish and debris. the garbage cans are overflowing every single weekend. While the guidelines state, flowers only, the graves are covered in $1 store holiday crap and balloons. Most of which blows all over the grounds and into the surrounding neighborhood and becomes the ugliest litter. I also noticed the gutters on the surrounding streets are full of cemetery trash just waiting to be washed into our waterways when the monsoons roll around. I have personally emailed Richard Craven at least 10 times regarding a variety of concerns, most about trash and litter, he has never responded to me. It's disappointing to say the least. I know he is older and I hope that when he leaves his position someone that cares about our environment will take on that roll. Like I said... St. Francis has the potential to be a lovely place. read more

If you haven't got anything better to do and are thinking about dying anytime soon, you might want to consider St. Francis - this place is extraordinary! First, there's the Catholic aspect. It's a Roman Catholic Cemetery catering to the needs of Catholics everywhere. Well, dead Catholics that is, but Catholics just the same. Then there's their graveside services - you can't beat them anywhere. I've been to plenty of funerals in my time, but St. Francis beats them all with their ample parking, long winding streets and well manicured gardens. This may not mean much to your average funeral-goer, but try wheeling old Aunt Mary through three hundred yards of tall, unkempt Bermuda grass on a hot summer day and you'll be praising them for their thoughtful street layout! Then there's the mausoleum. Let's say your family was too cheap to pony-up for the 'Dreamliner', instead, opting for the 'Eternity Trekker' (knotty pine) coffin. You've never liked worms. They're icky. And the last thing you need is them crawling all over you for eternity, but the 'Trekker' will get you just that if you plant it six-feet under, which is why you'll want to consider the mausoleum. St. Francis offers above ground burial plots here, just like you're in a city morgue or something. Opt for one elevated high in the wall and you'll never need to worry about former foes peeing on your headstone. Pretty cool, eh? read more

Since 2018 the lost of my son has been hard ,life changing with love of my family and friends has kept me going ,at st. Francis office staff been great thru out the process . I also moved close by in walking distance to be close by evey other day i walk and notice how much work daily the staff does on ground .people blame them for damage or loss items witch i can vouch for them i see them weekly keeping ground trimmed ,watered move slightly items not to damage them .thier job to keep grounds nice not our items.everyone's loved one's like if they were here with us we keep loving and praying for them ,visit . but we also have families that don't address thier children that play soccer ,running there are areas that they can play please be more considerate to others beloved ones thank you ...god bless read more

Every time I call to follow up it's someone is sick or someone on vacation or it's their day off. The runaround at this place is shameful. "We're waiting for you to approve the draft", well thats funny because we didn't receive a draft. Were we supposed to pull it out of our a**? No phone call it needs to be approved? "We didn't have a phone number". Really people of God working here? Because you're full of lies. If you don't have a phone number on file you better hire new people, these fools can't even obtain proper documentation? You all are an absolute joke. Between Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum (owner & Edmund) this cemetery is lucky to not have gone 6ft under by now. Seriously its shocking. The manager has zero resources and believes that there is no one higher in the business to speak to other than himself. He is useless and an inconsiderate person to speak to about upsetting issues. Just because there's a "new maintenance crew" certain things are changing! Having multiple of my loved ones buried there, I have always been a satisfied person up until now! The management sucks! They don't care about anything or anyone's feelings! We have paid thousands of dollars to have our mom buried there because my dad wanted her to be with her family. Then he passes and we chose to put him there as well. Every time we take our parents flowers or any decorations it never last the day there. Their landscapers have not only broke everything we take when they cut the grass but they also seem to somehow break the flowers and they end up in the trash. Not to mention every time they cut the grass they always leave it all over her stone! My family and I have complained plenty of times and the manager RICH never seems to care of return your calls! I will NEVER RECOMMEND ST FRANCIS TO ANY FAMILY OR FRIENDS!!! Let me say one more thing! The manager stated there are NO BALLOONS, WINDMILLS or FANS allowed! i would never recommend this funeral home to any family that is looking for somewhere to bury their loved one! their management has changed and they don't give a crap about our loved ones or their customers feelings! every time i take something to my grandparents the landscapers always either break her stuff or throw it away! i took my grandmother flowers and ballons for her bday (may 29, 2018) around 11:00am 11:30am i spend about 30 minutes there my mother goes around 430pm 5:00 to take flowers and calls me to tell me all the flowers my uncle and i took her are broken in half thrown outside of the vase not to mention they were cutting the grass early this morning while i was there and left grass all over her stone!! didn't clean up their mess or anything! balloons were gone everything was gone! didn't even last the whole day because rude disrespectful people don't care since it's not their loved ones so they treat our families like crap! this isn't the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd time something has happened! landscapers also broke her stone for running it over with the lawn mower!!! if i can take my grandparents out and put them somewhere welcoming and caring i would! please stay away from st francis cemetery!
