Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services - Golden Door

I am writing to post a complaint regarding my recent experience with Advantage Golden Door and its…read morerepresentative, Francisco Osornio. I initially contacted Advantage Golden Door to inquire about coverage on an existing policy. Specifically, I needed a policy that included mileage coverage for the transportation of a body beyond 35 miles. This was the primary reason for my call and the main feature I was seeking. During a 43-minute phone conversation with Francisco Osornio, the topic of mileage was briefly mentioned, and I recall him referencing 75 miles at one point. However, this was not clearly explained, emphasized, or verified. At no time did he explicitly state that the policy he was offering did not match the coverage I had called about. There was no clear confirmation or verification that the policy he was selling was not what I had originally called for, nor did he verify that I understood this difference before proceeding. He never clarified, "You are asking for coverage A, but the only policy available is coverage B -- is that acceptable to you?" Instead, he proceeded to finalize the sale and accepted my payment. When I later contacted him to request documentation confirming the mileage coverage, he provided only a pamphlet that contained no detailed information addressing my specific concern. When I pressed further, he eventually admitted that the policy he sold me did not include the coverage I had originally requested. When I expressed that this was not what I believed I was purchasing, he responded, "Well, I told you." While mileage may have been briefly mentioned during the call, it was not made plainly clear that the policy did not meet my stated need. There was no effort to ensure that I fully understood I was not receiving the coverage I specifically called about. I attempted to resolve the issue by asking to involve management. Francisco stated he was driving and would handle it and get back to me after speaking with a manager. I never received a follow-up call. Subsequent attempts to reach him went unanswered. When I called Advantage Golden Door directly, my call was routed to the front desk, where a man answered, said "goodbye," and disconnected the call. This entire experience has been deeply frustrating and concerning. Insurance policies dealing with the transportation of remains are sensitive matters involving loved ones and end-of-life arrangements. The lack of transparency, professionalism, and follow-through I experienced is alarming and disheartening. I strongly advise anyone reading this to carefully reconsider and look elsewhere for these services. Update: I tried to cancel the prepaid services they sold me within the 30-day cancellation window, but I haven't been able to reach anyone. I received a message from Francisco Osornio's manager, but I have yet to speak with her. I have tried contacting them for over a week. They take messages, but they haven't called me back. I wish I had seen some of these reviews before I furthered any services with them.

Held ashes for over a month with no contact to my mother at all, said my mother signed a document that my mother never signed & then refused to show us the document. She is rude, unprofessional & refused to give me the name of the manager above her for us to talk to. She told my mom to come pick up ashes today after I called SEVERAL times & then Mickie wasn't even there & my mom has to go back again tomorrow. Her hospice nurse had to be cancelled for this. Mickie has caused my mother & myself horrible stress. She's refusing to provide documents that my mother has a right to have. I wouldn't recommend this funeral home to ANYONE!

We had Adrian as our sales person and JR as our director. My father suddenly passed away from a…read morefire and while we experienced death in our family previously - nothing could prepare our hearts for his passing although BFS was a pleasure to do services with. Normally I have this long story of what's what but figured I just give the meat & potatoes. Here are the pluses of using Best Funeral Services in Peoria. 1. Pricing is so low you gotta lay on the floor to see it. 2. Cutting to the chase and no pressure buying. 3. Accommodations for specifics are made and available. 4. Communication is great. Cons: 1. We "accidentally " were mistaken for another family and another persons death folder was brought into office so we got to know the name of the other decedent when signing final forms. 2. Front office staff may make an error with pricing changes (after the fact of being told another price) they wanted to charge us more - but because I have funeral knowledge- I was able to catch her mistake and get things corrected at time of payment. ----- Lastly, please know while ALL funeral homes empathize and sympathize with the decendents family; they are a BUSINESS for profit. So asking questions at the initial start of paperwork as far as pricing, hidden pricing and adjustments should always be talked about. Hints for those families on a budget: 1. Caskets and urns can always be purchased outside of a funeral home. - For burying; ask the mortuary - what caskets brands they will accept. 2. Embalming prolongs your loved one's body from breaking down. This costs more and is not necessary if you are having a 3 hour viewing. 3. Funeral homes will ask if you want to "view" your loved one while in their care to verify them. This will cost more. Viewing your loved one isn't necessary- all paperwork, tags and numbers will match. This is simply a way for them to get more money. 4. Lots of hidden pricing adds up. When sitting in front of the initial funeral sales-person going over your desires, make sure to ask "how much does that cost" as to not get stuck with hidden fees. 5. Never tell a funeral home how much money you have to spend. They are trained to sell and use specific verbiage to work your emotions-therefore it is always best to send someone who knows what you want-but that has a clear head and is not emotionally unstable. Ok, overall - Best Funeral Services was great. They handled everything wonderfully and because I was able to stand in and had the knowledge to ask the correct questions - things were easy. P.S. I am still awaiting my father's death certificate which the funeral home will charge you to get it. Hopefully I can update once received. 1 star missing due to the cons. Sending my condolences to you and yours and hope for those who are reading this to know that death is a part of life & when it's my turn - I'll be happy to know - In Jesus Christ - I will not die; but instead live. Peace to you.

Staff stopped family from entering at the beginning of services. At the end, your staff cursed and told everyone to leave. I am only posting about what I personally observed. As you will see in your security footage, it was the family that gave 'warning' that began the disturbance outside. I understand, in your profession, some services can be challenging. However, there are always two sides to a story. Maybe hear people out before judging and show compassion to everyone involved. Thank you.
