Staff stopped family from entering at the beginning of services. At the end, your staff cursed and told everyone to leave. I am only posting about what I personally observed. As you will see in your security footage, it was the family that gave 'warning' that began the disturbance outside. I understand, in your profession, some services can be challenging. We had Adrian as our sales person and JR as our director. My father suddenly passed away from a fire and while we experienced death in our family previously - nothing could prepare our hearts for his passing although BFS was a pleasure to do services with. Normally I have this long story of what's what but figured I just give the meat & potatoes. Here are the pluses of using Best Funeral Services in Peoria. 1. Pricing is so low you gotta lay on the floor to see it. 2. Cutting to the chase and no pressure buying. 3. Accommodations for specifics are made and available. 4. Communication is great. Cons: 1. We "accidentally " were mistaken for another family and another persons death folder was brought into office so we got to know the name of the other decedent when signing final forms. 2. Front office staff may make an error with pricing changes (after the fact of being told another price) they wanted to charge us more - but because I have funeral knowledge- I was able to catch her mistake and get things corrected at time of payment. ----- Lastly, please know while ALL funeral homes empathize and sympathize with the decendents family; they are a BUSINESS for profit. So asking questions at the initial start of paperwork as far as pricing, hidden pricing and adjustments should always be talked about. Hints for those families on a budget: 1. Caskets and urns can always be purchased outside of a funeral home. - For burying; ask the mortuary - what caskets brands they will accept. 2. Embalming prolongs your loved one's body from breaking down. This costs more and is not necessary if you are having a 3 hour viewing. 3. Funeral homes will ask if you want to "view" your loved one while in their care to verify them. This will cost more. Viewing your loved one isn't necessary- all paperwork, tags and numbers will match. This is simply a way for them to get more money. 4. Lots of hidden pricing adds up. When sitting in front of the initial funeral sales-person going over your desires, make sure to ask "how much does that cost" as to not get stuck with hidden fees. 5. Never tell a funeral home how much money you have to spend. They are trained to sell and use specific verbiage to work your emotions-therefore it is always best to send someone who knows what you want-but that has a clear head and is not emotionally unstable. Ok, overall - Best Funeral Services was great. They handled everything wonderfully and because I was able to stand in and had the knowledge to ask the correct questions - things were easy. P.S. I am still awaiting my father's death certificate which the funeral home will charge you to get it. Hopefully I can update once received. 1 star missing due to the cons. To be honest this was not our first choice for a funeral home but the place my parents had made arrangements at was so horrible to us we had to find another place. We found Best Funeral Services and the funny thing is at first, we were thinking "this is a strange name" but we quickly realized it was perfect as they are the BEST! They welcomed us with open arms, empathy and a can-do attitude to do whatever they could to help us. JR one of the funeral directors was our Godsend. He worked with us to listen to what our mom wanted and guided us to how they could help us. We were on a time crunch and he made sure that everything worked out in the time frame we gave him. We knew that mom was in good hands with JR and his team. The day of the funeral mass, again JR was amazing. He took all the stress off my family and let us concentrate on my mom's service. I was at this facility for My best friends son (33 years young) whom recently passed away from glioblastoma brain cancer . They did an amazing job , he looked exactly as remembered. Now, At peace There were some technical difficulties when i had arrived i believe it was in the slide show or possibly the live feed , but all was well within minutes and the service was touching, beautiful and a great celebration of his life . JR helped me through the process to have my friend cremated. I was her court appointed guardian / conservator. We had to work with her family to get approvals for the cremation. JR was very good to work with. He was patient, provided all the information I needed, options available and took care of contacting the family to get the needed approvals. After a cost of $1200. For cremation with nothing but the minimum we were then asked "for an extra fee you can move up the cremation date"?! Um not acceptable and then a day before the service near closing time we get "we have a problem"?! You what?! Definitely would NOT recommend. What did I pay for? I recently helped plan and attended my husbands funeral at Best Funeral Services. He was killed in a car accident. We chose to have a viewing and open casket for the service and have him cremated after. I have attended other funerals with viewings where, minus a few slight differences the person in the casket looks like himself and as if they were sleeping although in this instance, I was VERY unhappy with the job they did preparing him for the viewing/funeral service. His eyes were baggy, he had a belly before he died but he looked thin in the coffin, cuts on his face from the accident weren't covered and he looked pale white/bluish. So it didn't look like him and basically it appeared as though no makeup had been applied to give him as "natural" look as possible. It has caused me nightmares and our 11 year old son who attended the funeral is now having a hard time sleeping and is quite traumatized considering that's the last image he has in his head of his father. I spoke to others who attended and funeral and they agreed that it look like they did very little to prepare him for the viewing/open casket. I did contact Best Funeral Services via email close to a week ago expressing my concerns but they have made no attempt to contact me whether through email or a phone call to address of my issues or give me any explanation. I'm very disappointed in their lack of care and consideration for their customers and the deceased. It was definitely not worth the price that I what's required and did pay them. read more

We have had the worst experience with this business. They do NOT abide by your loved ones wishes no matter what kind of paperwork you show them. They make up their own rules and do a lot of double talking that you are supposed to accept. I would not recommend this business to anyone. It's been a horrible experience. I cannot recommend that place. No one was available when i needed them. I was kept waiting to sign papers that were innappropriate and had to wait again for someone else to take over. My aunt had a pre paid policy to cover all expenses for direct burial and they tried to charge me for a phone call to the National Cemetery due to the fact that I did not have her cremated and therefore they had to contact them themselves. (I personally spoke to two different people at the Veterans Affairs after hours on hold and finally learned this). $140 for a phone call???? i was incensed. Also did not refund any of the money not spent on papers needed for the memorial since churches were closed due to pandemic. *( I did get a check for "overpayment" $31.00 a month later) In this day and age we need more compassionate trained people to do this work. I was appalled at the lack of compassion and all the money they wanted above and beyond the pre paid (fully paid for) package. I would like them to be taken to task for their ways. My aunt was revealed to me in a horriffic grimace frozen solid.. I did not pay for presentation quality but seriously they could have taped her mouth shut or something. Direct burial was a joke. It took over a month. I was furious and couldn't even get in to do an identification visit the day after her demise. I did not get to see her until the day of burial. (3 weeks later) It was a memory i cannot unsee. My aunt was very specific as to not wanting any frills. But she was frozen solid and her hair was horrible. I didn't expect it to be so awful. I know the Pandemic is somewhat to blame. At least they didn't insist on my paying to store her body per diem. I admit I never had to deal with a mortuary. I suggest you try to do your homework before it is an imperitive need. read more

My mother died over the weekend (04-09-22) and my siblings and I had already decided we would use Best for cremation services. Best took care of my father my mother-in-law and father-in-law when they passed on. We made an appointment on that Saturday for the following Monday to meet with a funeral director. It had been 4.5 years since I last had to use Best services and I was hoping they hadn't changed. My brothers and I met with Peter "JR" Netzband on Monday (04-11-22) to make arrangements. JR was a very compassionate, caring and professional individual. He did not try to upsell any of the services and came through with flying colors. Amongst other than obvious of things I wished, I wished I never heard of this place I wished I was never referred to this place I wish I never utilized their services! I feel these people lacked empathy and compassion. Whenever I needed to call and inquire about anything they act as if they knew nothing and could give me no answers until someone returned the next day. I used them for cremation services of my mother and the total experience was horrible with Best! We were not even offered water or facial tissues as we waited to take care of finances and view her body which we were charged an additional $200 to do so. Best Funeral Services in Peoria was the best choice I could have made when my son died. Aimee Latour at Best Funeral Services made the most awful time of my life a little more bearable. No overselling, she just asked what I needed and presented my options. The pricing was transparent with an impressive range of choices. Their onsite chapel where I held my son's memorial service was spacious with comfortable seating and plenty of tables provided for photos and other displays. Aimee also coordinated with our chosen pastor to provide the music we selected. When the service was over I didn't even have to gather the guest books, they were all packed and waiting for me. She kept me apprised of when my son's remains were cremated and afterward let me know when I could pick up the cremains, all on my schedule. I will be making arrangements with Best Funeral Services to handle my own cremation and memorial. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. read more

If I could give this funeral home a ZERO I would. My husband and I lost our baby at 19weeks. My husband, myself and my sister along with our children went to Best Funeral Home to make cremation arrangements for our son. We met with Roxy. During this process Roxy was to call me if she had any issues getting our son from Banner. After paying almost $1000.00 for just cremation and and urn we were promised a follow up call by Roxy on that Monday by noon. NO CALL FOR FOLLOWUP WAS DONE. As a grieving mom I was back to work and on my first day back again no call from Roxy. Assuming all was good and everything was in place for our son to be cremated I called Bests Funeral Home to find out that Roxy was off and our son was NEVER picked up from the hospital. 6 days had passed and Best Funeral Home states they hadn't got a call from the birth recorder. I spoke with Andrew and he wasn't even aware Roxy was to call me if there was any issues. I'm at work balling my eyes out after paying Bests almost a $1000.00 and here I am doing the foot work which the funeral home should be doing. My son was 19 weeks gestation and only weighed 1.6oz. Best Funeral Home demanded to have a death certificate when in the State of Arizona he didn't meet either of the requirements. The manager of Banner L&D even called to explain this to the management. If this funeral home would be aware of the laws they would know my son didn't qualify for either. Yet I spent 2 days arguing with the funeral home. In the end my family decided we needed to lay our son to rest and we moved to another funeral home that didn't make us jump through all these ridiculous hoops and for the same exact cremation we only paid $530.00. I'm a nurse and I use to be a director or a nursing facility in Sun City and has ALWAYS used Best Funeral Home to refer residents and family to when their loved ones passed away. This was back when Larry was the funeral director. I also used them when my father passed away in 2008. I will NEVER refer anyone to this funeral home for services. They DO NOT follow through with families as promised, apparently they are not up to date on fetal demise laws and are very very insensitive to a mother who just lost her baby. I will steer everyone clear from this place. Very sad because where Larry was the funeral director it was a nice place. read more

My aunt passed away last year, they were so disorganized that we felt like we did most of the coordinating ourselves, At the mass, the priest was given wrong name, the escort had us riding in circles and then the deacon was late and the funeral director had the gall to ask if the body should be lowered without deacon saying a prayer first, they really upset my family with such a careless request. Then during the holidays they invited us to a Celebration of life , only to find out that they forgot my aunt's Christmas ornament, it just gets worse and worse, so with this tragic experience, we all moved our policies to Whitney, I'd rather pay more to have a descent funeral then my last days above ground running around frustrated because no one at BEST took charge! My Family was charged an outrageous transportation fee to move my mother's body to be cremated when it wasn't necessary. The Funeral home never disclosed the charge until after her body was moved. She could have been cremated where she passed with no extra charges. The Funeral Home Manager was non responsive and rude. read more

Where do I start? From beginning to end this has been the best experience thus far, my big mama passed away on 5/26/22 and a month prior finally decided it was time to finalize arrangements for my 93yr old grandmother. The first meeting with Adrian was the start, he walked me through the process and what to expect which was clear cut and self explanatory. After my bigmama passed away is when Best Funeral Services took over and made this process as seamless as possible from pickup, transport, paperwork and the actual cremation. Let me just say that everyone was very nice and comforting but Ms. Elaine is a GOD send and truly an Angel, she was there every step of the way and walked me through the finalization of everything. I truly do not know what I would have done without Best Funeral Services they were hands down the best and gave me comfort in knowing that I made the best possible choice! We had an EXCELLENT experience here. I've actually suggested that the Best at this location ask more people who've had great experiences to review on yelp. We almost didn't use this place because of the low review marks. I brought that up to Lesa Hagen, the funeral director and the person that prepared my father's body for the viewing. We saw the reviews for the other location and chose Best, but when the day came and we had to transport my father, we learned that the Best closest to us was the Peoria location. From beginning to end, we had a great experience. We came prepared with all of our questions, desires and research. We came with a great attitude and did not expect much. Lesa was so loving and didn't try to "sell" us anything. She was professional and kind. It was hard but we made all of the choices, the value of the viewing with cremation package we got was excellent, and my dad was handsome and well taken care of during his stay at the facility. We got his ashes back in a timely manner and all of the documents were in order, except for one mistake we had to chase down with the SSA. It did make it much easier on everyone that my dad passed away in our home and did not need an ambulance, doctors, or anything. Hospice took excellent care of him on and off in the last months of his life. We did not get any of the urns or extras from Best. Only the basics. My dad had a military ceremony because he was an Air Force Veteran. All I suggest is this you appreciate that these people will be sad for you and your family, however they will be professional and deal with end of life needs appropriately. Come prepared with all documents and understanding that you need to be involved in the process and solutions that may be needed. I am grateful to Lesa and staff for seeing dad through the journey with dignity, love and respect. read more

Having a Family connection in the business while Growing up, I knew what I wanted; #1 Not a corporate owned facility and #2 Operates their own Cremation center. I contacted them prior and confirmed. Upon my Wife passing, the were called. The Staff members who are very were very respectful and caring. Upon making the arrangements we were blessed to meet Lesa Hagen. This lady is a true Angel. I would have given a higher rating because up until yesterday, I was very happy with the service of pre-paying my mothers cremation. That was done through Ron and it went seamlessly and professional. Done only 3 days prior to my mothers passing and I had no idea mom would pass so unexpectedly. 5 days after her passing, I had an appointment to meet with a funeral director to finalize all paperwork before cremation takes place (will and can be up to 2 weeks later???) The director Perea? greeted me, introduced herself, walked me back to a room....and not at ANY time before, during, or after this appointment, did she once mention to me, sorry for your loss, or how am I doing, did not acknowledge the loss of my mother in any way/shape/or form in a sympathetic way...absolutely nothing, very business like, to the point...I would think being in the business of death, a show of compassion/sympathy to family, would go along way. Maybe she was having a bad day as she literally excused herself abruptly from the room, could hear her running down the hallway, and returned stating, sorry she needed to use the bathroom, however no excuse for not showing any acknowledgment to me of my mothers death or extending any kind words to me. I went with Best due to price of a "direct" cremation as my mothers wishes were no funeral wanted and only ashes returned to me. They had the better price but if you are looking for a more compassionate experience, you might want to go elsewhere. Don't know about any other staff there as far as directors, maybe ask for someone other than her prior. read more

I have referred many family to this Funeral home and they have always been very happy with the service. They are family owned. I have gone in a few times to talk to the staff and they have been nothing but kind and professional. If there was even one family that had any kind of issue with them I would absolutely look for another option to give out to families in that area. I have never had even one complaint. Nine months ago when my son passed suddenly, we used Best Funeral Services because of it's location between friends and family. They handled the cremation, and we arranged for a celebration of life service to be held. The Officiant came out to the house to talk with use and get information about my son for the service. He took notes and I thought he had a clear understanding of his interests, line of work and so on. I discussed with him certain things I wanted including me being able to read a poem I wrote, also, I specifically stated I wanted plenty of time for friends to come up and share memories. The service was horrible, the Officiant talked more about himself and his wife, was making jokes with one of the attendees, and gave completely wrong info about my son. He never called me up to speak, called the bagpiper in at the wrong time and introduced him as if he was at a rock concert, and at the start, as the large number of people were still trying to find a seat he gave less than 1 minute for people to come up to share memories. Everything about it was wrong, he absolutely did not follow anything we had discussed, and in addition to my grief, I was embarrassed and felt ashamed that people would think I planned that disrespectful, confusing and erroneous tribute to my son. My complaint to the manager resulted in a $100 refund, as if that's sufficient to make up for the mess they made. I will never recommend that place to anyone, but if you do use them I suggest you do a room sweep first to make sure that big roach isn't still crawling on the floor anymore. Unless they're offering a refund, I don't ever want to hear from them again, but they keep sending me pamphlets in the mail. read more
