DO NOT USE THIS FUNERAL HOME OR PAY IN ADVANCE FOR SERVICES!!!! My experience with this company was horrible. My father passed away and he had prepaid for his cremation. There were some complications because my Dad died in the emergency room and had not seen his doctor there were issues getting his death certificate signed. My issue with the Avenidas was that the whole time this was going on they did not reach out to communicate to me at all. I had to call them to find out what was going on. I left text messages that were never returned. I continually had to call them for updates. At the same time Kevin on several occasions would make statements basically putting the blame on my Dad for not seeing his doctor. UNACCEPTABLE. I was grieving his loss and to be made to feel about bad how all this worked out was not ok. It took over a month and a half to have my Dad cremated. The only time I had a return call was when I asked to speak to the owner (Which I was passed over to Kevin who is not the owner) and when I reached out to the county to get their help getting his death certificate signed. I was called to be told "we finally found someone to sign the death certificate" which was a call from Kevin. Then when I came to pick up my Dad's ashes I was only given one urn and had to remind them of the other Urns we had left. One other thing that really bothered me was I called to find out if my dad had been cremated and the person had no idea or even where my dad's body was at that point. Unprofessional. The experience overall was a disaster. Not to mention the licenses on the wall of the business are expired. All I asked for the whole time was communication and I didn't get it. Some of the things that happen where out of Kevin's control but communication was always something he could and should have provided. When someone is grieving or trying to grieve that is the one thing that is needed. To not even know where the body is again is unacceptable. Unprofessional. read more

This past week, I attended a funeral serviced by Avenida's Funeral Chapel and I cannot speak highly enough of the exceptional care and professionalism they provided. The staff was courteous, attentive, compassionate, and respectful to everyone present. Though Avenida is a relatively new business, I would wholeheartedly recommend their services. My sister passed unexpectedly June 17th. It all happened so fast and was a strain. Both of my parents had already passed and I had experience with their arrangements but it didn't make the task of making arrangements for my sister any easier. Well I was promised a 14k gold necklace and once again I got lied to and ended up with the same necklace that is 14k gold filled imprinted msco on the clasp I was promise they would make it right just because melissa didn't explain to me I was getting a fake necklace at the time of the arrangement. Now I have a big rash on my neck I dont wear another necklace but the one they gave to me .. I'm so upset cause they don't care bout the business getting bad reviews cause there services are cheap and ppl will come to them and rip them off that's not right ... The staff was very helpful during a time, when support was needed in making the final arrangements for my mother, who passed away unexpectedly after colon cancer surgery. And, I feel their prices for cremation are excellent. However, there were a couple of things that cause me not to give them a 5 Star rating. One, was my appointment time. I arrived about 3 minutes ahead of schedule, and when I walked in, I thought that I had walked into the wrong place, as there were a lot of people standing, and sitting around. But, instead of being subdued, as benefiting a Funeral Chapel, they were carrying on like it was a party. And, the receptionist was dressed in sweats and a PINK sweat top. Now, I don't expect formal business dress in Arizona. But, sweats? A bit too causal for the environment (if she's cold, wear a suitable jacket). Also, they need to schedule their appointments a little better to reduce the risk of overlap, as happened here. read more

Our church families (Christ Temple) have used Avenidas Funeral Chapel for many funerals and cremations (Memorial services) over the past several years. I recommended them to a family within the last year and asked the family how it went. She had met with Briana and told me it went "Better than her expectations." This week we buried my husband's step father and I personally dealt with Briana. She responded quickly with emails, phone calls when needed and was very prompt with all communication. We had purchased a prepaid plan and everything went very smoothly. We had a Veteran's cemetery burial and everything at the cemetery was set up by Avenidas. This place is an absolute God send. It has been a very difficult time for me and my mother having just lost the only family we have, my grandfather. After a slew of bad luck and bad encounters with a few businesses, that will remain nameless, we finally found Avenidas Funeral Chapel. We went from being distraught & numb in tears to a much needed feeling of comfort & solace. These guys are nothing short of amazing. The owners name is Miguel, he not only goes above and beyond what's expected but prides himself on it (as does his staff). The level of sincerity from these people is beyond anything I could put into words. They spent almost 2 hours with us and covered every single detail, concern or question we had. I don't even know where to start but our entire experience was terrible. We had an appointment, after waiting for 30 minutes a guy said were running behind do you mind if we do this out here. ( in the waiting room). So the lady that takes care of the bodies came and helped us. She was very nice. When we got home we looked at the receipt and it was for the wrong person and they were shipping my mom to Mexico . Called the mortuary , he said it was a computer problem. Don't worry we have the right information right here. I called a week later to check to see if I could pick up my moms ashes. I was told she was still there and they are waiting on paper work. I did get up set and told the guy we signed all the paper work. He immediately got very defensive and told me to refer to the green folder we got. I tried to explain we never got one, he basically called me a liar . Said everyone gets them, I tried to tell him to go ask that gal that took care of us. He said he will not do that, and I better calm down. I said would you be calm if this was your mother. So he said read your green folder we have 9 days so if you don't like it I will credit your money back and  you can bring your mom somewhere else. Which then I got pissed off and asked him what kind of business he is running . He hung up on me, then calls back and tells me to look at my contract . Once again I told him we never got a contract. Anyway my sister contacted John, (who originally talked to us on the phone), they immediately took my mom for cremation and called six hours later to tell us to come get her ashes. Terrible experience to have to go threw when your emotions are already out of control. My father's passing was sudden and brought so much heartache. I flew from Los Angeles to be with our family where my father lived in Tolleson, AZ. The hospital provided us with a laundry list of local places we could call for cremation services. I was unfamiliar with the area and just started dialing. The first place I called (close proximity) was Avenidas. I spoke to Miguel and from the moment we began our conversation,I knew it was the right place. He was so calm, kind, and easy to talk to when it came to what they offered. Working in a field where I have to make courtesy calls for people in my situation, I had experienced this same call a hundred times over in California. Having said that, I knew from experience that I was dealing with people who genuinely cared for their clients. My sister and I came in and spoke to Octavio. When we drove up to the location, I took one look at the business and knew I had made the right choice. It was a small, homey, warm, local spot in the old town part of the neighborhood.. a neighborhood that reminded me of my dad. Octavio walked us through the paperwork and the process with ease. He had a way of helping us relax as he took the time and care to put together our cremation plan. Miguel had earlier provided us with a (very affordable) rate on the phone and I was pleased to be informed by Octavio that there were no hidden surprises. We spoke with Octavio briefly about their business as most things are too good to be true. Octavio explained to us the pride their small business took in involving themselves with the community as closely as possible at the most affordable rate.
