I must say this was an incredibly difficult time for my family. Our 30 year old cousin was found deceased, and during such a painful moment we chose this funeral home to help us through the process. From the very beginning, their team treated our family with professionalism, compassion, and genuine kindness. I would like to acknowledge the staff who supported us, Tabitha, an African American woman, a Hispanic woman, and an African American man. Each of them showed patience, respect, and professionalism while assisting our family. Their kindness did not go unnoticed. I understand that working in this field can be emotionally demanding. Funeral homes interact with grieving families every day, often during some of the most painful moments of their lives. Despite that, this team remained calm, supportive, and compassionate throughout the entire process. They truly showed us grace and care during a time when we needed it the most. Antonio was very close to me I helped raise him from the time he was 10 years old, so seeing him there broke me to my core. The staff checked on us, offered comfort, and made sure we felt supported. I truly felt the love and care they extended to our family. I cannot thank them enough for the way they helped us navigate such a heartbreaking situation. Back on March 1, 2025 my mom and sister were involved in the dust storm pile up on the 10 freeway. Tragically, I lost my sister in that accident and my mom was transported to the burn unit at one of the hospitals. I have never had to make arrangements for anyone before, usually my sister handled that, and now as the the oldest sibling, I found myself having to take that task head on. I called several funeral homes and asked general questions as far as what the process looked like. Sonia Garcia-Tillson at Samaritan took her time with me on the phone, asked me questions, and encouraged me to keep calling other funeral homes and ask certain questions to be well informed before making a decision. After the weekend passed I decided to call Sonia back and thank her for all the help and information she provided, and if she would be willing to help me an my family with this process. I gave her all the information. Sonia and I were in constant communication. She was incredibly kind, compassionate, and patient. She made this whole process SO EASY ! The personnel were very kind & considerate. I had spoken with them a year before my mom passed away as she was not doing well and they gave us all pertinent info. Unfortunately the Social Security number on my step-mother's official death certificate was wrong. When I called to have it corrected the woman spoke down to me in a sing-song, pre-school teacher voice. I understand that mistakes happen, but this is pretty unprofessional for a place that is supposed to expertly handle the details of your loved one's death. read more

I just hung up the phone with one of your fellow employees her name is Edith and wow no manners. She sounded so annoyed and bothered by me asking when my aunt was arriving to Mexico since she was supposed to be shipped since yesterday and they decided to put her in another flight and give us wrong times. I understand things happen but as a family we're all grieving and the lack of sympathy makes it so much worse. Our son died in the Phoenix area and we all lived out of state, so making his final arrangements proved to be an extremely daunting task. He thoroughly answered all of our questions, and quoted us an amazingly reasonable rate which did not change as with most funeral companies. Moreover, he was able to accomplish everything we asked for and complete the entire process in less than two business days, saving us a full day over the three days he initially guaranteed. It was so refreshing to deal with the funeral home that places the care and the well-being of the families over their profit margin or bottom line. Hands down one of the cheapest and most professional places in Phoenix to cremate a loved one. It took me 4 months to write this review. Why? Because when someone dies who is a parent to you, the last thing you wanna do is write YELP reviews. But I decided to write this because Eddie Lopez and Samaritan deserves a 5 star review. From the min my mom died Eddie Lopez and his staff had my back. He texted me everyday to guide me through the horrible unprofessional process Banner put me through. In conclusion I hope I don't see Eddie anytime soon, because I don't need anymore death in my life. Samaritan Funeral home came highly recommended by a staff member from the hospital. I called after 5pm taking the chance and thank god I did. When Cindy picked up the phone she was the answer to our family's prayers. She was sweet and understanding. The care they gave to my mom was unlike no where I have ever seen before. Eddie walked me through everything that would be happening with my mom. When making the arrangements I was expecting to pay so much more than I did. Very affordable and worth every penny I spent. My mom was taken care of at Samaritan. Eddie and Alejandra did an amazing job accommodating us. Eddie made this process a little easier for us. We were allowed to do my moms make-up and just as he said it really helped me, to have that alone time with her and get her to look like her for her final viewing. My mother chose to be cremated and the cost here was very reasonable compared to other places. Which im so glad because we were struggling. I hope not to be back for a LOOONG time. I had the worse expirence in 1505 e McDowell rd. The lady that was in charge of my service was very disrespectful i still had an hour left when she started telling us to start picking up our belongs and start saying goodbye she was very rude to my invites and didn't even let some of my people in the funeral home. If the managers has cameras i hope you see what happen that day. She even toke the casket with this other lady and it wasn't even 8 as she said service was over that we had to leave. She should of waited to have us out and then remove him but she did it as we where still in there. To me was very disrespectful as we where in pain seeing him for the last time and she didn't seem to care but wanting to go home we paid for our service not her to react and treat us that way. Losing my father was very hard and we did not know who to turn to make arrangements. From the moment we called Samaritan Funeral Home we began comparing to the other places to them. We got the feeling in speaking with the staff that they cared and it was not going to be about a company just out to get our money. Don't get me wrong the others provided all the information we requested but it was kind of like someone reading off a price list. Samaritan Funeral Home was just the opposite, the cost was very reasonable and they really seemed to care. Stephen Arnett the Funeral Director was one of the nicest and most helpful persons I have met. He helped my mom through the process and because we made arrangements just prior to my father's passing when it did happen all my mom had to do was make one call and everything was taken care of. Stephen helped me with the flower arrangement and because I went through him to get the flowers they were even better than what the flowers web site had pictured. He made sure everything was arranged so nicely for my father. The service at the funeral home and grave site was so loving and wonderful. Usually, I only will take time to Praise good customer service. But the treatment received was so rude, I am taking this time to unfortunately write this review. Was called and informed that my cousin had passed and his body was at this funeral home. I called and a Tabitha answered. After she freely told me that he was there, she was so rude both times I called. First time, I was too distress to talk and ended call. The second time when simply trying to obtain basic information, not about my cousin, but their basic services, Tabitha was SO RUDE again and even rude to his daughter. For That, we would go to ANY other place before ever using this company! When called back to state another company to pick him up, she rudely stated that they better come before 3pm because he was at the crematory! Seriously, they sent him to be cremated even though we made contact! If this rude at first contact, who knows what tacky service is being completed on loved ones! I'm hoping Tabitha that you were simply having a bad day and not just notified that someone you loved just passed away-Otherwise, you are truly in the wrong business!
