Well The BOURBON should be the FIRST thing that the customers should be tasting then go to the other room to taste mixed drinks with the other spirts that they make but the girl telling us about everything kept talking about the bourbon more than the other spirits. So I would think that the Bourbon would be the star and the first thing we get to taste. When we get to the bourbon tasting well you DONT get to taste bourbon first you get a mixed drink with bourbon first. I think they want to sell more of there MIXERS than there spirits they talked more about them and how to mix with there spirits. IF YOU HAVE EVER BEEN TO KENTUCKY AND GOTO A DISTILLERY YOU CAN BET YOUR ASS YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET A MIXED DRINK BEFORE TASTING THE REAL BOURBON THEY MAKE!! I think there were a few other REAL Bourbon blinkers in our group that kind of felt the same way we kept looking at each other like we is the bourbon? And the tour girl she must have mentioned to us to make sure we get a card from her to post a review about how well of a job she did. I'm not going to mention her name but she should just ask to post a review at the end of the tour don't keep mentioning it all through the tour it gets old as if she gets a bonus if her name is mentioned in a review. Again, make the Bourbon the star and then the mixers. My favorite drinks from the tour were the St. Augustine Olde Fashioned and the Rum Tiki drink. Now the best part besides the free spirits are the tour guide. Everyone we came into contact with was very engaging and entertaining. Our guide I forget his name was very quiet at the front when we arrived and gave us tickets to the tour but he transformed into this very funny knowledgeable guide once the tour started. This place is very popular, and if you come to do the tour or eat at the Ice House, know that parking is limited. We tried to go on a day when it was rainy outside and were unable to find a place to park. We came back the next day while on one of the trolley tours so we didn't have to worry about parking. Both trolley lines stop at the distillery. I am a big fan of craft brews and also craft spirits so this was a must do tour for me. When you arrive, there is a big room with a lot of artifacts on the wall and in display cases that explain a little about the process of distilling and also about alcohol in Florida. The tour guide then brings you into a smaller room where there are benches. Here you sit and listen to the history of the building and what they do at the distillery. The tour guide will then take you through the warehouse where the big still are. I have never seen stills this big and I have been on several distillery tours. Our tour guide had a great sense of humor, we really enjoyed it. From there, you enter the tasting room where a bartender makes three different cocktails with their different liquors. YUM! They were all really good but we preferred the mule. We are also both vodka drinkers and not into gin. However, if I was into gin, I would say that theirs is very good. I think that drinking gin is like drinking a tree though. From there, you will enter the gift shop and another tasting station where you can taste the bourbon both in an old fashions and on its own. Yowza! It will put hair on your chest! I have never been a big bourbon drinker. I do like Irish or Canadian Whiskey and there is a big difference between whiskey and bourbon. We bought some vodka and plan to use it to make mules at home. We considered eating at the Ice House, but it was in the middle of the afternoon and they only had the happy hour snack menu available and we wanted to eat more than that so we didn't stay. This was the perfect stop for our morning tour! We walked through the old towne to the fort(inside is closed for COVID), then came back across the street for the distillery because it opened at 11. TIP: go at 11 if it's the weekend!!! We walked right in and up to the tasting bar, but before we even got to tasting, there was a line behind us going out of the building! The tasting tenders told us that there will be a line around the building all day because it's Saturday so go early! Tastings are done in individual groups only and there are three tasting stops as you walk through the distillery(vodka, rum, then moonshine). It was delicious, fun, and no pressure! We tipped the bartenders, but didn't buy anything because we were doing a lot of walking(they said we can come back tonight through the back door and buy if we want to). Highly recommend! read more

We were super excited to visit the distillery as we were coming from out of town and heard it was a great spot. Our friends in our group told us about the sampling aspect, so after a long hot day of walking around the cities fort and town we decided this was the perfect afternoon treat. The reason for the 3 stars is due to the customer service and lack of accountability from the staff when being given feedback. One of the members of our group who is well over the legal limit had her license slightly chewed in the very top corner by our dog before our vacation, which only started days ago making it impossible to replace in time. No other spots have said anything about it both in St. Augustine or in Georgia which we have also been at this past week. With that said, we understand also understand that rules are rules. It's all about DELIVERY. The older woman at the front was acting very snarky and accusatory, making sure to loudly tell her not to share alcohol with anyone else and looking at us like we were a bunch of kids meanwhile our group was all in their 30's (side note and foreshadowing: it was laughable after we got in finally and the sample cups were the tiniest bite sized cups ever, no need to accuse us of trying to sneak those around...not even worth all of that). The manager came over and explained that since they are a distillery they need to be more strict etc and if there's any other forms ID. My girlfriend said no, because we were given no examples and we assumed she meant something like a passport or regular ID (not license). She did not explain what she meant so the answer was no and again. Well, my girlfriend left crying because she was so embarrassed and flustered. There was an entire line behind us and the older woman particularly was being so rude and just looking at us like we were lying hoodlums. SO incredibly odd. So after awhile of sitting outside waiting for the rest of our group to go in, I decide to go in and give some feedback to both woman on how their delivery effected someone who was really excited to visit. When I did the older woman was immediately defensive and ready to fight. I explained that her tone was accusatory and rude when loudly telling us not to share and the only thing she could say was well a lot of people do that. Ok well we aren't a lot of people. How about treating your guests with kindness and respect, even if there's an issue with the ID? Which by the way was still fully visible and functioning, bar code still working etc. At this point the female manager came over and told the woman that it wasn't worth it to respond to me because clearly I'm upset like ??? They acted like I was screaming and yelling which I was not, in fact my voice was shaking because I HATE confrontation, but if someone in my group is literally crying I'm going to stick up for them. The manager then claims she told my gf "multiple times" that she can present another form of ID, "like a credit card" I said, oh that would have been great to know earlier we have a credit card. She then keeps saying well I gave her multiple chances. Like I said, you could have easily explained at the TIME of her being that she could use a credit card and we would have had that no problem. Eventually I tell her well let me go see if she wants to come back in with her card. She then says well I don't know it that will work, then I said I thought you said a credit card would work? She's saying this as she's backing away from me as if I'm trying to get aggressive when I was literally just being direct and blunt with the situation. I was not yelling or being unreasonable, it was very very odd. At this time I left to make sure everything was ok outside and to make sure my gf was ok. The manager is clearly not understanding or empathetic to anxiety. Eventually I was able to persuade my gf to try again and to reclaim her power especially when she did nothing wrong. We went in and was helped by Olivia who was SUPER sweet and understanding. She was super sweet and helped to turn things around a little. What didn't help was the older woman being w bully again staring at us asking Olivia if she called for back up over the radio. Again, very odd behavior. Another manager checked her credit cards and let us in and luckily we were able to do the walk through and meet up with our friends by the end of it. If the owner has any questions, follow ups, or needs more details my DM's are open. Other than that the distillery was a very neat place and I loved sending photos of all the bourbon to my dad. Hopefully I can take him one day and we might have a better experience. read more

Early February was when we came to St Augustine. One of another free alcohol tasting my husband and I decided to visit. We were trying to map our way on the trolley strategically so we can hit a few spots at the same time. We got here at 1030 for an 1100 tour. At first we were debating having alcohol so early in the morning but decided what the heck since we were on vacation. We were the only 2 people on this bourbon tour! Our tour guide was very nice and having a private tour was great. We were able to taste 5 different kinds of bourbons all before noon. There is also a restaurant here for lunch called the Ice Plant I believe but we opted out. There is also a very nice bourbon shop after the tour with a very good selection of bourbon. Thoroughly enjoyed our guided tour with Larry. I've been to many distilleries throughout Kentucky and was shocked this one was just as great. I took my Mom and my Aunt who do not drink bourbon and they thought it was one of the best things they have done in St Augustine throughout the years. We all really enjoyed Larry explaining the history of the distillery. Very interesting and informative....highly recommend taking a tour! I came into town for a beautiful rooftop wedding, and this place popped up in my looking around for things to do. This place opened up a while ago and has been selling other liquors while their bourbon has been aging in barrels. They just recently started selling their bourbon. That's wild. This place does free tours, and the distillery was amazing. There was a good video showing the history of the place and how it used to be an ice plant and how they are keeping all of their business local. It's a good video. Then, the back room has these amazing vats for the booze and barrels upon barrels of their bourbon. It's a sight to behold. After the tour, they showed us a bunch of cocktail recipes and gave out samples. I don't drink, but my girlfriend says that the best original cocktail they offer was their Old Fashioned. After the tasting, they offer free tastings of their straight stuff, and my girlfriend recommends their bourbon. I would trust her, if I were you. The gift shop is pretty nice. The bottles are beautiful, and there are a ton of bar trinkets that are nifty and just yelling at you to take them home. You can even buy a whole bourbon-aging barrel! On your way out, consider going upstairs to the attached restaurant, The Ice Plant. Five Stars for a five-star experience. read more

The staff is very helpful and they have quite a nice selection in their gift shop. It's a cool vibe and a great place to visit. The drawback of that the liquors they distill and sell are quite expensive. This is FREE! Who doesn't love that? We stopped in here while touring this quaint historic city. Hubby and I were looking for activities that we could walk to from the main drag. We arrived about 15 minutes before the tour began, so we wandered around the first room checking out the historical artifacts. Our tour was given by Jade, she did an awesome job! You can tell she really loves her job. She gave us some of the details about the historic building this business is located in. The tour didn't take TOO long, maybe 30 minutes. They do have warning signs up that the distillery area can be quite hot when it's very warm out, so something to consider if you don't tolerate heat well. We were shown how to make two drinks, we had a shot glass of each type and I LOVED them! Very fresh and tasty. After that we went into the gift shop, there was an opportunity to do more tastings, but we needed to move along. The gift shop is great! Love that they sell mixes that are made in Brooklyn too. We are looking forward to buying and trying more of their products at our local liquor store. read more

This wasn't a planned stop. Saw it driving by so we decided to check it out. What a cool place! Tours and tastings are FREE! We walked in and after checking our IDs (at 46 years old, I so appreciate this! Lol), they gave us bracelets and we were directed where to go to start the tour. There was no waiting. We had 3 different stops and tasted 4 drinks. All were very smooth. At the end of the tour is a store where we picked up a few things to go as well. After all the tastings on a semi empty stomach, it was cool to see that the restaurant Ice Plant is attached. We walked through the corridor and got a table right away. My boyfriend and I decided to take a day trip to St. Augustine for Night of Lights for the holidays and decided to check out the St. Augustine Distillery on a whim and it did not disappoint! Atmosphere: 5/5 This distillery is too cool! They offer free tours all day that are informative and fun, even for someone who doesn't drink spirits very much. It tells you the history of St. Augustine and its ice plant that eventually turned into what it is now the distillery. During the tour, they offer mixed drink cocktails samples at the end that are also free! I personally enjoyed the Florida Mule the best. After the tour, you can go into their gift shop for more samples of their spirits alone and souvenirs! Service: 5/5 Price: 5/5 FREE and worth going to! Drink: 5/5 definitely go on the tour if you're in town! Even if you're not a history buff, you will still enjoy it -- or at least pretend to until you get to the samples ;) Overall, I will definitely come here again next time I am in St. Augustine! Love this distillery. Their tours are enlightening and fun. Tours are free and happen every half hour from 10:30am - 5pm. You receive 2-3 "mixed drink" samples at the end of the tour. I'm not normally a gin fan but love their gin. And now they have a Port Finished Gin which is deliciously smooth and slightly floral.
