I have been using this shop for shoe repair since the mid 80's and have never been disapppointed. Not the cheapest but worth every penny. Recently he added zippers to a new pair of winter boots flawlessly, he protected the suede at no cost. Always in reasonable time. Happy to take my repairs here. read more

So I will just say I had a pair of my iron worker boots resoled here, which cost me 174 dollars. The soles are good and heavy duty but the fact I even considered paying this amount was my own fault when downtown shoe repair which has excellent reviews was going Ron charge me 60 for the same thing. The fact that you pay 170 dollars and they don't even shine the shoes, Clean the glue off the bottom of your shoes and overall just looks like shardy work is a real piss off. Personally I'd find another store to go to even if you need to drive a bit farther. Not worth the money! read more

I took in a favourite pair of old, high quality leather shoes that needed dyeing. I was hesitant because the platform is suede and the upper is leather. The owner did an amazing job of dyeing both materials. My old friends are ready to go back on my feet and they look brand new! It was $75 and worth every penny. read more

I have been taking my shoes and leathers to Ahmed for repairs for many years and he has always done fantastic work! This time, though, he went above and beyond repairing a pair of beautiful luxury brand boots which not even the manufacturer in Italy would touch! The heel and part of the sole of one boot had completely broken off. Ahmed replaced the heels on both boots, matching the leather perfectly with the body of the boots, and replaced both soles. We recently took one of my husband's shoes in for repair. We were impressed with the questions that the owner asked in determining whether the shoe was worth the cost of repair. We decided to go ahead with it. The owner of St. Albert Shoe Re-Nu was pleasant, polite, knowledgeable, and meticulous in his workmanship. Arrogant clerks, materials that are faulty, overpricing. Took a pair of boots there to get a zipper tab replaced. I dropped my boots off yesterday & he offered to have them ready for pick up in half an hour, but I was leaving St A so he asked if today was good & I said yes. When i went back with my claim ticket today, he asked me "which ones are yours?" Idk about you.. But you would think the items to be picked up might be organized according to the claim ticket or by date dropped off/due for pick up... something! Anyways we found them, they look ok, I'll see how they last. But does anyone else remember the days when you picked your items they would be all polished looking like new?? I miss those days. Oh & I was sure my claim tag had said $11, but then he charged me $14.. So I'm not sure why the discrepancy.. But I didn't have time to ask or argue over $3. Owner is rude and thinks he's the best in the city and says he just fixes the competitors mistakes. Wanted $120 to put soles on a pair of men's dress shoes. Told him I had it done at Commerce place on the same type of shoes for $40 and he handed the shoes back and said to go somewhere else. I will gladly go somewhere else and get them fixed. I went to inquire about grips being added to the bottom of a pair of ladies dress shoes that were going to be worn to an upcoming event. I was rudely told that it would cost $100 as the glue was very expensive ($47). When I shared my surprise at the cost, I was told that he may be able to do it for $60 if he didn't use the special adhesive or I could just glue something on myself. There was a definite lack of regard for the customer and an arrogance that left me with a feeling that I would not have work done there even if it were free. read more

I took a pair of cowboy boots into this store over a month ago. My new puppy had chewed on the toe, he didn't damage the sole but the leather had some teeth marks. Their solution was to just put a leather cap on both boots, we were promised the leather would match and that they would call when they're done. After not receiving a call, we went in today to pick them up. They've absolutely destroyed a $300 pair of boots! They used a leather that wasn't even close to a colour match, couldn't even make straight cuts and the glue wasn't holding. When I went back in to get them to fix it, I was told that they could glue down the edges and that was it. I was lectured on how hard it is to cut a straight line and told to stain the leather on my boots (dark brown) to match the cap (honey brown). I've never received such horrible service in my life. Besides the obvious lack of craftsmanship, he interrupted me to take a personal phone call and continued eating while trying to dismiss me. In the end I was told I was out of luck and that if I found a leather that matched better, I could buy it, bring it to them and have them charge me to put it on. I will never do business with these men again and advise against anyone else doing so. I paid $150 to have my boots look worse than when I took them in. read more

Crap work, crap finishing and no sense of what a customer wants. I even got the 'St. Albert Premium pricing' meaning that I feel that I've been stolen from; a $40.00 job cost me $125.00 and it was a cash transaction so it is not being reported to the tax agencies. I had to remind the guy of how to provide a proper finish to the work, and even so when I got home the pin nails in the heels that were not properly set have damaged the hardwood floor. I suggest you avoid this organization like the plague they are. read more

Took my boots in to get the heels fixed. The guy was rude. When I went to pick up my boots, my back was facing me and he was on the machine. I said "excuse me" as I didn't know if he saw and he didn't turn around. Then he turned around and said rudely "couldn't you just wait a few mins?" Whao WTH? I just grabbed my boots and left. Wore my boots to a business meeting at someone's office 2 days later. When I walked out, the other person picked up a heel tip and said to me "this came off from your boots" Arrrggghhh it was so embarrassing, the whole tip came off my heels. I didn't bother taking my boots back to the same place. I took them somewhere else downtown and got them fixed instead. I'll never go back to this place again. read more

The guy there wanted $30 to place lining in heels of dress shoes, which was okay. Then he said I had to pay up front, cash or debit. No credit cards "because it costs me 7%". He wasn't too friendly either, "Believe me, lots of places don't take credit cards" he said...I said it is normally considered a cost of doing business and I'll take my business to a shop that follows normal practices and respects their customers. read more

I walked into the shop in St. Albert Center only to be greeted by the owner speaking another language on the phone who lowered his chin and said "Yeah?" When I told him my zipper tab had broken on my dress boots, he replaced it with the ugliest big black work boot tab without even getting off the phone or asking me if this was ok. It took him less than ten seconds, and he charged me $14 without a receipt. When I got home, I put the boot on and the tab broke right off. When I took it back another day, he greeted me the same way, on the phone, with the same "Yeah?" and I told him the tab was faulty and broke the first time I put on my boots. Without asking, he put on another and said, "ok, I won't charge you the full price, just $5" I told him I was there to get a refund not get charged more and he said that he ran a small business that cannot lose money like that. He could not prevent the part from breaking, it was not his fault. I was ridiculously mad and told him that if I had bought a jacket from another store where the zipper was faulty, they would have at least exchanged it. He said that is not how he operates, he is a small business and everything he does is charged. It took him another 5 seconds and he didn't get off the phone either. It was the biggest rip off I have ever experienced and I will never go there again. Rude, unprofessional, with no consideration for the customer or his work. read more
