Damn you calfs of mine! :-D I knew there was a shoe repair shop in Londonderry Mall (because the boyfriend also had his shoe sole repair once here) so I had stopped by after work today to see if they were able to fix up my boot. The nice lady said yes she could fix it and proceed to tell me what and how she was gonna do it and the price, $7... and she was able to finish it an hour! An awesome price and QUICK too! I was expecting it to take a few days. So picked up my boots a few hours later (had some warrants) and I must say, Awesome Job Shoe Masters! See my photo... I was too iffy to pull the zipper up the whole way, don't wanna rip it again. :-p Would for sure come back for all my shoe repair needs.

While Shoemaster is a chain, a shoe store is only as good as the cobbler who mends the footwear. At Kingsway, the couple who work here are so committed to their craft. They're small on words but big on results, and they don't overcharge you. I had a pair of my favourite boots re-zippered here and several pairs of shoes re-heeled. They work quickly and if it's not busy, you can pick up your stuff the same day, or if it's a larger job they get you to come back in a couple of days. But the cobbler assured me that it could be done. Besides, it was only $20 so I had nothing to lose. So I got my ticket and was told to come back tomorrow. Then, after I had paid, he told me to "call him in a week or so to remind him of it" despite saying it would be done within the week. When I asked why he didn't call when the item was finished, he looked annoyed and took down my name/number stating he would do so. He didn't. I reached out 1.5 weeks later and he said it would be done "right away". All of this was frustrating enough, but then I went to use it and the zipper (on both items) was worse than it was before. He put a single 1" spaced thread to attach this "new strong zipper" to the suitcases. Looked like he spent maybe 2 minutes on it. He should be ashamed by the standard he is operating at for a "business". Go literally anywhere else.

I regretted this decision almost right away however because as soon as I pulled out the clutch and explained what I wanted done the smile on the face of the man working disappeared and he rolled his eyes and got very cold with me. If you have read my review of Romani Leather you would know I believe the woman there quoted me an incorrect price in an effort to encourage me to purchase the item and I suspect she has done this before as the change in this mans demeanor came almost instantly as soon as I mentioned Romani's name. With that being said however if he had an issue with the other store it should have been discussed between the two of them and not taken out on a customer who made a purchase in good faith and has then come into your establishment to spend money. Despite the attitude he still took the work and the job he did on the clutch definitely did meet my expectations. Both holes were centered perfectly as well as clean all the way through with no tearing or little bits of material left behind. He did inform me that if I wanted the quality of the purse to last longer then I should look at putting eyelets over the holes to prevent the chain wearing away at the material. I opted out of the eyelets which would have cost me $8.00. The two holes he put into the clutch cost me $5.00. I felt that both charges were fair and only opted out of the eyelets because I was concerned that I was going to be late for an appointment. Shoe repair isn't a frequent need that I need attended to so I don't know that I will be coming back but if I was near the mall and needed something done I would probably return. I could have done without the frosty attitude and the junior high school eye roll though.
