*****AVOID THEM AT ALL COST!!!!!!***** !!!!!!LESSON LEARNED - NEVER TRY TO REASON WITH SOMEONE WHO IS BARBARIAN & READ REVIEWS FIRST!!!!!! Checked the rating before going there. It was the lowest in the city. Unfornately, didn't read the reviews, thought repairing the heels couldn't be so difficult and it's close to where I was, so decided to give it a try. But It was the worst decision I have ever made in my life!!!!!! I brought in a pair of boots to fix the heels. The tall white guy told me to come back 20 mins. When I came back 20 mins later, the boots were not fixed. The guy told me to wait for another couple more minutes, so I said I'd just wait here. There were 2 guys working on each one of heels. After they fixed my heels, a small piece of fabric around one of the heels was gone (I believe it was accidentally cut off when they modified the new lid). I know the fabric was there before I gave them my boots as I checked them due to the places that needed to be fixed. He argued it was gone before they got them and gave me 2 options, pay it or take off whatever they did and leave. I was so upset as I really liked the pair of boots and he didn't even try to remedy the problem, so I said" even if you take off whatever you did, the small piece of frabic is still gone, so I'd just pay it but I am not going to give you a good review." I said this while pulling wallet out of my purse. But this tall white guy (I think he is the owner) became so aggressive, running towards me and assaulting me physically and verbally, calling me I Chinese in a racial discriminated way. He was grabbing me until he got one of boots and took off the lid. So now he made my boots even worse than they were. Everyone outside of his store saw what happened today and there was security camera there. During the assault, he hit my jaw and broke my purse. The funny thing is that he and his partner dishonestly accused me of stealing from him for a $8.00 "repair" and threatened they could press a charge! Not only did they not fix my boots and even made them worse, but also assaulted me. I am a girl with 160 cm while he is around 180cm. He sure knows how to pick a right size. I was going to pay for it and even had my wallet in my hand. What was the point to assault me as I would definitely give you a bad review regardless!!!! Such a "SMART" move!! The difference is that now more details are revealed to show how incredibly terrible this man/store is!!!! I had to file a complaint with the mall security and the police as this was a very severe and violent action taken by a business owner/worker, and I don't want this happen again to someone who says something that provokes his angers that could lead to another assault. Who would be doing business with someone without integrity and with absolutely no regards to their customer service??? Worst experience I have ever had. Never been assaulted physically before!!!!! FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE!!!! THOUGHT THIS COULD ONLY BE SEEN IN THE TV, NEVER THOUGHT IT COULD HAPPAN TO ME!!

The insole that used to be in my shoe- with the foam lining ripped out. He took it out and refused to put it back in.

Y'know, when you click on one star for your star rating of a business, it says "Eek! Methinks not" next to it. And that is exactly what I would say to anyone thinking of getting their shoes fixed here. I brought in a pair of brand new, $100 boots that needed to be stretched. I came in tonight to pick them up, and I tried them on, & they were still a little tight in the toes. I mentioned this to the guy there, who was like, "Well, maybe I can fix that" and he took one of the boots and RIPPED OUT THE INSOLE. Then he ripped out all the foam lining- I didn't even know there was one until I sat there watching him at the back of the store tossing white fluffy chunks from my boot everywhere, wondering with increasing concern what was going on. Then he realized the lining/insole was too thin to make any difference to the roominess of the shoes, and went to put them back in... I thought, well, as long as he puts it back in, I'll live. But no! No, he was having a hard time getting it in properly, so he decided it wasn't worth his time and he wouldn't do it. I was like, what? He kept insisting that the inside wasn't so rough that it'd bug my feet, but it absolutely was, & would've given me blisters. I kept trying to get him to put it in again, but he refused, and then kept sarcastically saying he was sorry for trying to help me when I complained. He grabbed a pair of insoles off the shelf & put one in for me to try, but of course with a thicker insole, I was right back at square one for it being too tight. So he took it out and said it was my problem if I thought it was uncomfortable without the insole, and if I wanted to I could buy the one I tried for $10. I was like, "Seriously? You rip the insole out, decide you don't want to put it back in, and then want to charge me $10 for a new one? If you didn't have the time to put it back in, you shouldn't have taken it out in the first place!" And again, he was very sarcastic and condescending and said if it made me feel any better, he wasted 15 min of his precious time on my stupid shoe complaint, and he should've just said no to trying to help me and made me leave. I refused to pay for the stretching, needless to say. So, yeah, if you're thinking of having your shoes fixed here, I'd say think again and run the opposite direction to someone who actually cares about what they're doing and has some kind of customer service skills... like perhaps an orangutan with some shoe glue.

Notice how the shoes face upwards now.

I had a pair of bran new coach shoes that the tap had fallen out, because the heel got in between a side walk. I paid over $300.00 dollars for the shoes. I took them to Northgate Shoe Repair and when I went to pick them up.. he had made the heels shorter by one inch. He did not call and discuss this with me he said that the end of the heel was to narrow so he had to cut the end off to make the new tap work... I was speechless he them told me that the shoes are now just sitting shoes and that i should not probably wear them for long. Pretty much garbage... I told him these are bran new coach shoes!!! His reply " I thought they were fake".... didn't get my money back he did not want to pay for the shoes... DON'T take your shoes there horrible service. Notice how the shoes face upwards now.... I only rated it one star but really I rate it 0 stars...

Zipper "repair". Band is uneven, sewing is atrocious, tar holding zipper in at bottom and hard glue all along zipper!

I brought two pair of boots in for repair. The first pair he did not recommend I leave for him to fix as he would not be able to make it look esthetically pleasing to the eye. The second pair required a new zipper on only one of the boots which he said he could fix. I took his recommendation and only left the boot for zipper repair. Picked up my boot today and it was completely destroyed! There is no repairing the damage he caused and my boots are now garbage. He charged me 26.00 and blamed it on the material of the boot. I give this place a negative zero star rating. The owner was completely careless with my property. Pictures will be added of pre and post zipper "repair".

Uneven heel, dyed dark brown without asking, rest of sole stripped bare

TL;DR at the top, so you don't have to slog through. I took…read moremy favourite, most comfortable shoes in. They charged me $85 and returned to me a pair of shoes that looked worse and no longer fit. Hey, listen, I'm sorry to have to do this to you but, this was probably the worst shoe repair I've ever had. Well, it's the only shoe repair I've ever had. I had a pair of shoes for years. Years and years. They were so comfortable and beautiful. The soles were these soft spongy things. It was like walking on a cloud. Of course, being so soft, they started to wear down. They got holes. I didn't mind, I just taped them up. No problem. But, eventually, it did become a problem. I thought, okay, I'll take them into the nearest shoe repair place, and get some new shoes in a week. So I took them in. The guy has a bit lost as to what I wanted. They shoes had been roughed up over time, and it gave them a nice vintage look. I wanted to keep the look. I said specifically, "Do not polish these shoes, I want them to keep the look they have now. Just change the soles. Can we find soles that are as close as possible to the soles already on the shoes?" The guy didn't really know what I was saying. I guess there was a language barrier. He also seemed like he didn't really know his way around the cash register or anything. I mean, nice enough dude, he just didn't know... So he charges me about $85, for one pair of shoes (they cost me ten dollars, by the way, but I really loved them so I was okay with it), but he says I can't pay him right now I have to do it later. He can't use the debit machine. That's fine. No problem. Cash only. Tells me to come back in a week. I do, and guess what... no shoes. Can't get the sole he wants. Come back in another week. Oh, okay. This repeats for a month and I finally say, "Why don't you just call me when you're ready?" Another month later, I get a call and go in. Oops, I apparently need to pay cash only. Because he can't work the machine. Also the shoes have been polished, ruining the aesthetic. Also, it's a bit busy, but the soles look clunky and not like what we'd talked about. I ask about it and another dude is like, just take them and see if you like them and come back later, because it's busy. I do this. They are terrible. They look terrible. They no longer fit. Basically I paid $85 to ruin my favourite shoes. Oh, also, when I had to pay with cash, it had to be exact because not only could the guy not use the debit machine, but he apparently couldn't make any change, so I had to pay in two installments, to have the correct amount. I go in to tell them this and they agree to resole again. They can't do anything else, obviously. This takes another month. The sole is finally an okay sole, but the wrong colour, and still not even close to what we originally agreed on. They don't give me any discount. I decide I've had enough and just take the shoes. At least there's not holes in the soles anymore. I will never return.

This nifty little cobbler's shop previously named "Richard's Shoe Repair" has now been renamed…read more"Adam's Shoe Repair". Excellent service and quick turnaround time, and also located in a convenient location right downtown. It seems like they can do anything, from repainting or refinishing your shoes, to new heels and soles, strap adjustments, and repairing major damages such as sliced leather. I was very impressed with the repair they did on my cut leather boots; the deep cut was glued and painted over so well you could barely make out the scar. My white flats didn't turn out looking brand new as I'd hoped, but then again, repainting white leather is always tricky because of the color. A helpful note -- if you get four pairs of new heels or soles (aka "lifts"), you get the fifth for free! A good system if you have shoes in your closet you can't bear to part with like me :)
