I brought in my favourite pair of sand leather pumps with a roped heel. After some home repairs the glue was starting to discolour the rope. I wanted the heal and platform to look new again as the rest of the shoe is in great condition and super comfy! I walked in to pick them up two days later. Ryan said he had to make a modification. I did not get a call to discuss this decision. The stain he used smelled of gasoline and ruined the rope. (No problem, the rope could have been striped and the base resurfaced, but apparently they were now "garbage" in his eyes). He decided to try a suede to cover the rope. Could have worked if he put some care into it, but tossing my shoes one the counter and disregarding me and my business was the last straw. With no consultation and my shoes now looking like trash, Ryan accused me of ripping him off for the time invested. A simple phone call would have prevented that. He repeated multiple times that he could not fix them,"that he wasn't good enough" and then told me to "get out". I took my shoes and left. I was so taken back and disturbed on the lack of appreciation for a customer. I do not recommend this location. read more

It was the lowest in the city. Unfornately, didn't read the reviews, thought repairing the heels couldn't be so difficult and it's close to where I was, so decided to give it a try. But It was the worst decision I have ever made in my life!!!!!! I brought in a pair of boots to fix the heels. The tall white guy told me to come back 20 mins. When I came back 20 mins later, the boots were not fixed. The guy told me to wait for another couple more minutes, so I said I'd just wait here. There were 2 guys working on each one of heels. After they fixed my heels, a small piece of fabric around one of the heels was gone (I believe it was accidentally cut off when they modified the new lid). I know the fabric was there before I gave them my boots as I checked them due to the places that needed to be fixed. He argued it was gone before they got them and gave me 2 options, pay it or take off whatever they did and leave. I was so upset as I really liked the pair of boots and he didn't even try to remedy the problem, so I said" even if you take off whatever you did, the small piece of frabic is still gone, so I'd just pay it but I am not going to give you a good review." I said this while pulling wallet out of my purse. But this tall white guy (I think he is the owner) became so aggressive, running towards me and assaulting me physically and verbally, calling me I Chinese in a racial discriminated way. He was grabbing me until he got one of boots and took off the lid. So now he made my boots even worse than they were. Everyone outside of his store saw what happened today and there was security camera there. During the assault, he hit my jaw and broke my purse. The funny thing is that he and his partner dishonestly accused me of stealing from him for a $8.00 "repair" and threatened they could press a charge! Not only did they not fix my boots and even made them worse, but also assaulted me. I am a girl with 160 cm while he is around 180cm. He sure knows how to pick a right size. I was going to pay for it and even had my wallet in my hand. What was the point to assault me as I would definitely give you a bad review regardless!!!! Such a "SMART" move!! The difference is that now more details are revealed to show how incredibly terrible this man/store is!!!! I had to file a complaint with the mall security and the police as this was a very severe and violent action taken by a business owner/worker, and I don't want this happen again to someone who says something that provokes his angers that could lead to another assault. Y'know, when you click on one star for your star rating of a business, it says "Eek! Methinks not" next to it. And that is exactly what I would say to anyone thinking of getting their shoes fixed here. I brought in a pair of brand new, $100 boots that needed to be stretched. I came in tonight to pick them up, and I tried them on, & they were still a little tight in the toes. I mentioned this to the guy there, who was like, "Well, maybe I can fix that" and he took one of the boots and RIPPED OUT THE INSOLE. Then he ripped out all the foam lining- I didn't even know there was one until I sat there watching him at the back of the store tossing white fluffy chunks from my boot everywhere, wondering with increasing concern what was going on. Then he realized the lining/insole was too thin to make any difference to the roominess of the shoes, and went to put them back in... I thought, well, as long as he puts it back in, I'll live. But no! No, he was having a hard time getting it in properly, so he decided it wasn't worth his time and he wouldn't do it. I was like, what? He kept insisting that the inside wasn't so rough that it'd bug my feet, but it absolutely was, & would've given me blisters. I kept trying to get him to put it in again, but he refused, and then kept sarcastically saying he was sorry for trying to help me when I complained. He grabbed a pair of insoles off the shelf & put one in for me to try, but of course with a thicker insole, I was right back at square one for it being too tight. So he took it out and said it was my problem if I thought it was uncomfortable without the insole, and if I wanted to I could buy the one I tried for $10. I was like, "Seriously? You rip the insole out, decide you don't want to put it back in, and then want to charge me $10 for a new one? If you didn't have the time to put it back in, you shouldn't have taken it out in the first place!" And again, he was very sarcastic and condescending and said if it made me feel any better, he wasted 15 min of his precious time on my stupid shoe complaint, and he should've just said no to trying to help me and made me leave. I refused to pay for the stretching, needless to say. So, yeah, if you're thinking of having your shoes fixed here, I'd say think again and run the opposite direction to someone who actually cares about what they're doing and has some kind of customer service skills... like perhaps an orangutan with some shoe glue. read more

I had a pair of bran new coach shoes that the tap had fallen out, because the heel got in between a side walk. I paid over $300.00 dollars for the shoes. I took them to Northgate Shoe Repair and when I went to pick them up.. he had made the heels shorter by one inch. He did not call and discuss this with me he said that the end of the heel was to narrow so he had to cut the end off to make the new tap work... I was speechless he them told me that the shoes are now just sitting shoes and that i should not probably wear them for long. Pretty much garbage... I told him these are bran new coach shoes!!! I came in here on a referral from the sales woman at Romani Leather to get a clutch modified into a purse. I regretted this decision almost right away however because as soon as I pulled out the clutch and explained what I wanted done the smile on the face of the man working disappeared and he rolled his eyes and got very cold with me. If you have read my review of Romani Leather you would know I believe the woman there quoted me an incorrect price in an effort to encourage me to purchase the item and I suspect she has done this before as the change in this mans demeanor came almost instantly as soon as I mentioned Romani's name. With that being said however if he had an issue with the other store it should have been discussed between the two of them and not taken out on a customer who made a purchase in good faith and has then come into your establishment to spend money. Despite the attitude he still took the work and the job he did on the clutch definitely did meet my expectations. Both holes were centered perfectly as well as clean all the way through with no tearing or little bits of material left behind. He did inform me that if I wanted the quality of the purse to last longer then I should look at putting eyelets over the holes to prevent the chain wearing away at the material. I opted out of the eyelets which would have cost me $8.00. The two holes he put into the clutch cost me $5.00. I felt that both charges were fair and only opted out of the eyelets because I was concerned that I was going to be late for an appointment. Shoe repair isn't a frequent need that I need attended to so I don't know that I will be coming back but if I was near the mall and needed something done I would probably return. I could have done without the frosty attitude and the junior high school eye roll though. read more

STAY AWAY!!! If I could put a negative star rating I would. I was desperate to repair my sandals and choose convenience over service and that was my first mistake. The man was rude, arrogant with no sense of any interpersonal skills, let alone customer service. He said the work would be 30 minutes and when I came in 30 minutes, he was still working on the shoes. All I needed is a repair on an elastic piece that was broken. I left my other to show what needed to be done. He did not repair the elastic but used a pieces of leather and totally but he'd the work. I should have checked the work before I left but I didn't. I am going first thing tomorrow morning to see what he will do but honestly the damage that he did with the unnecessary stitches cannot be repaired now. I brought two pair of boots in for repair. The first pair he did not recommend I leave for him to fix as he would not be able to make it look esthetically pleasing to the eye. The second pair required a new zipper on only one of the boots which he said he could fix. I took his recommendation and only left the boot for zipper repair. Picked up my boot today and it was completely destroyed! There is no repairing the damage he caused and my boots are now garbage. He charged me 26.00 and blamed it on the material of the boot. Owner doesn't care about the quality he puts into his work. My shoes came back with glue on them, houges and he didn't properly adhere the sole to the rest of the shoe. When I went back to complain and ask for half of my money back I was told not to expect perfection and only given 20 of the 70 dollars back. Would not recommend, beware of shoddy work and poor customer service. read more

To be perfectly honest this establishment does not even deserve 1 star. I have brought more than one pair of shoes here and every time there has been glue left along the sides when I have had grips put on the bottom. Today I went to pick up a pair of booties that I had asked to have the heel replaced and grip put in the bottom. They were returned to me with the heel dyed a darker brown, the wood grain along the sole stripped off leaving it white, glue on the top (vinyl shoe so taking it off will ruin the shoe), the heel UNEVEN and the grip glued backwards. When I asked to make the bare sole dark brown like the rest he sprayed it and it turned purple. Reluctantly I paid $35 and left as most of the shoddy job wasn't noticed at first. Upon taking it to a proper shoe repair they advised me of the errors and suggested I go back for a refund, which I did. The owner/only person who works there refused to give me my money back but offered to "try" to fix the heel and reminded me that "these are the chances you take with customer repairs." I have had my shoes repaired multiple times at other stores without a problem. His lack of concern, care, and poor customer service skills leave no wonder as to why there are sky-high stacks of shoes that haven't been picked up. I found them to be quite rude and sloppy in their work. Had a pair of shoes resoled, but they changes the colour from light brown to black - which looks horrible, and then argued that I never specified that I actually wanted it to look good. So, he grabbed some polish, rubbed it over the edges to try to make it look better - colour wore off in a couple of days. I took my favourite boots in to get the zipper repaired, as well a small hole that was about 4mm big, and when I came to pick up my boots they looked soooooo horrible. The zipper was sewn on so crooked, it was all over the place and lumpy, and the small hole had glue the the size of about 4 inches in a different shade then my beige boot, it looked like a big grease spot on my boots. The worst part was when I told him I'm not paying for these you can keep them, Im not happy with the way they look, he threw them across the room in the garbage can and yelled at me in front of a customer saying you insulted my workmanship. read more
