I decided to come to the expert shoe clinic and get them to do the repairs on my shoes. The staff at the store were very inviting and I ended up learning so many things about shoes that I never knew. I thought they had really good pricing for the repairs that they did. If you need a shoe fixed don't buy a brand new one just get the expert shoe clinic to fix it. They are amazing! read more

I LOVE these guys. Start off by saying parking can be a challenge. DO NOT let this deter you! There is pay parking from a pay box, but you can't always find a spot. There are meters in the next half block, but they are frequently full. On a Saturday, park at the City Hall for 50cents or even the library for $1 for 3 hours. Plus you can visit the farmers market at the same time. I dropped off two pairs of winter boots and a pair of cheap shoes that I love for repairs. Every time I come, they try to offer to have them ready ASAP. My uncle was a shoemaker. I know what time is required to do the work I'm asking for, and I'm more than happy to wait a week. Besides, It'll be a week before I can make it back to pick them up. If you need it rush - they will bust their butts to make it happen for you if they can!!! This is a traditional shoe repair. Not a mall hack. (Not all mall shoe repairs are hacks, and most shoe repairs are not shoemakers - but they are out there!) You get the straight goods on what it's going to take to repair your lovelies and how long. I had three unique requests this time. First, the heel cup in my favourite pair of winter boots was toast - can they fix it? Yes, but it's not going to last long and it will not be cheap. Pretty honest. I don't think I'll find boots like this again, no they're not Gucci or Prada, they are practical shearling suede boots. But they fit, and they're comfortable, and I'll be darned that I'll throw something that's still useable in the landfill. The repair was terrific! A little care and a shoe horn will keep them going for another season. The other pair of boots, the pull came off the zipper. Easy peasy - what colour do you want it replaced with? BOOM. Done. My cheap little slip on heels, they had worn unevenly, and the lift was gone. They would have to do a little surgery to level out the heel, and put a new lift on. I picked up my repairs, they were all cleaned, (polished if leather), and the suede was brushed - looked like new! And the zipper on the suede boots... I don't know what they did, but they have never run so smoothly - even when brand new. I've brought motorcycle boots here for stretching - no problem. If the stretch doesn't hold, or they're uncomfortable, bring them back, they'll do it again, and again until it's right. Better to be under than over stretched. They'll do it until it's right for you. The boots were pretty comfortable when I got them back in October, but it also hasn't been riding season either, so I haven't worn them much. I keep forget to mention - bring the real thing - cash only here. Quality service like this isn't common anymore. read more

Ended up with a phenomenal education on how a zipper should be used and an overhaul of my boots. Polished, weather protected. Great service and information. Will be back! read more

Expert Shoe Clinic is perhaps one of my favorite places in Edmonton. Ya ya, I know what your thinking... how could I love a shoe repair place soooooo much? Well, try having 100 pairs of stiletto's that you love each one, equally, like your little pointy children (sigh). Now you get the picture?! This tiny treasure is an emporium of fine Italian craftsmanship. Manned by the best Father/Son duo in the wild west, I have laterally put my foot fetish finds in their hands for over 10yrs, and never once have been disappointed. More then once I have donned their door, favorite heels in hand, hours before boarding a plane, and they have re-tipped them and promptly sent me on my way with much relief (and always with a kit-kat!!). I trust my Stampede kickin' kicks and even my vintage Gucci & Fendi bags to them when they need a little TLC. More then a review, this is a major thank you to one of E-towns best locally owned small businesses. So trust me, you can trust your Sunday best or even just your regular runners to these guys. This isn't a review from a current customer... this is a review from a future customer. Today I decided to see if I could get my favourite old army boots some love - the soles were getting very worn and slippery when riding on the motorcycle. I took them to the #1 place here on yelp, and the fellow said "Yah sure no problem I'll shave it and glue new ones." I didn't feel 100% confident with his answer, so I stopped in at Expert. Luigi took a LOT of time to explain to me what he could do, the limitations of the boot, and that he could indeed glue a sole but that the heel especially wouldn't last long because of only being able to glue them (he even took the time to talk about how heat of the motorcycle engine impacts the glue). I walked out of the store without spending a penny. However, every single thing I need for my shoes from now on? I will go to Expert. He made a lifelong customer. read more

I decided to try out Expert Shoe Clinic since Jennie had given it such a favourable review (and I know she loves her shoes!). I needed a pair of riding boots to be taken in around the calf (there was a full side zipper for them to work with), and the quote was cheaper than my usual place so I decided to give them a try. I had a half rubber sole added at the same time and also had them stretch out the width since my feet are on the wide side. They did a really good job on taking in the calves - they fit perfectly now without any sort of bulge at the back. The rubber half sole works is well glued on too - I can now wear these in the winter without worrying about slipping. However - the stretching didn't work out so well - I've worn the boots for about an hour every day since getting them back (on their advice) but the first day I wore them for a full day, the sides of my feet were definitely in pain by the end of the day. So although I had a relatively good experience, these things kind of bothered me: 1- They charged me for stretching the boots, and quite a bit. To be fair, they have it listed on a sheet on the counter, but I didn't see it (photo of this list to be uploaded shortly). Also, you can bring the same pair of shoes to be stretched more free of charge, so that's kind of nice. Except... 2- Their opening hours make it hard to go during the weekdays. So it's not exactly convenient for me to bring shoes back just for a stretch. Fortunately, they are open 11-3 on Saturdays. 3- Cash only! I am a credit girl so it was kind of annoying to have to withdraw a large sum of money to pay them. On the plus side - taxes are included in the amounts they quote you. I have since been back a few times and the guy really knows what he's doing. He was able to recommend not reducing the calf size on some other boots I'd bought (fortunately returnable), and also, he was pretty good at installing the red rubber sole (Vibram, unsure what thickness) on my first pair of Louboutins. He had examples of other CLs he was working on to show me, so that made me feel better. He even had tips on how to keep the patent leather looking clean! I found this place through Yelp when I bought new boots online that were a little snug. I took them to Luigi to have them stretched. Instead of stretching he recommended I break them in myself at home and gave me some great tips to make it less painful and speed up the process. He told me if he stretched them they could turn out too big, they just needed breaking in. So he sent me on my way and mentioned I should return once they're broken in as they have exposed stitching on the sole that could come loose and if it did I could lose my whole sole. As these were very pricey boots I appreciated that he wanted to help me protect my investment. I had the soles put on today and he also conditioned the leather and sprayed them with protectant. Highly recommend this place, Luigi is honest and knows what he's doing, he seemed to genuinely care about my investment as much as I did and I will certainly be taking all of my business to him. read more

Best shoe repair EVER,! It's so hard to find an excellent cobbler, and I'm always nervous about taking my expensive shoes to just anyone. I've gotten multiple pairs of shoes here rubber soled, and heels touched up. I had a pair of perforated leather shoes torn, and they were very honest about what they could and couldn't do with them, and provided me excellent advice even if it meant declining business. I trust these guys with all my shoes :) read more
