My fiancé picked up dinner for us the other night and it was AMAZING! We both got the chicken tills masala. I got mine medium spicy and he got extra spicy. We both got garlic naan bread, it's was great! They were really friendly. We definitely will be back!

Fantastic for the convenience and price! Good deal with large serving of rice and perfectly cooked chicken in a flavorful curry. The naan was pretty good, maybe a little too fluffy so it absorbed all of the oils, leaving less of the flavor available. The first impression when you walk in is very decorative and fun, but they still have some supplies they are storing in the hallway towards the restroom. They also serve all of the curry dishes in to-go containers on a normal plate. Convenient because you'll like take some home but not fancy. Very kind servers who ask for feedback on the dishes. Would 100% come back. Might be a new staple because of the cheaper prices that maintain quality food compared to others.

All four of our plates were fresh and made to order. The lamb in my curry was so tender and delicious, and the spice level was just right. The chicken curry was equally good. Butter chicken and chicken tikka were not overly spicy; so a good option for kids. Gentleman owner was very kind and helpful when ordering.

Great little find this place just opened about a month ago and so far their food is pretty good. The owner seemed to be great and wanted feedback on his food overall the environment of the restaurant is nice. As of right now the restaurant isn't busy I'm guessing because they are new but I do see this place becoming popular once people find out about their delicious curry. This might be my go to place that's close to home instead of driving to Sacramento. Service was very great food came out in a timely matter and have no complaints about this place it's very clean and filled with friendly staff who are willing to break down what the food is and what they recommend. They also have some pictures of the food so that you can see what you're buying.

We were seated immediately, which I always appreciate. The space is pretty big with a modern feel, and there's plenty of parking out front (no circling the lot like a hawk -- love that). Even though they gave us the lunch menu, we went à la carte. Ordered: tandoori chicken, butter chicken, coconut shrimp, butter naan, and rice -- all medium spice where applicable. The tandoori chicken was tender and well seasoned -- no dry chicken nonsense here. The butter chicken was exactly what you want it to be: rich, creamy, tomato-forward, and comforting. But the one that caught me off guard a bit was the coconut shrimp -- creamy, slightly sweet, and a little more mild than "medium" heat, probably because of the coconut milk, but still really good. And listen... the butter naan? Fresh, warm, and absolutely necessary. Both the butter chicken and coconut shrimp were made for dipping. No shame in wiping those plates clean. Service was great. Staff was kind, checked in on us without hovering, and kept our water filled without us needing to flag anyone down. Overall -- easy, enjoyable lunch. Good food, good service, no complaints. I'd definitely come back.

A friend and I met here for lunch to celebrate her birthday and catch up. We arrived right at opening and had the place to ourselves for about an hour. Guests slowly trickled in closer to the lunch rush, but I was honestly surprised it wasn't packed -- because what they're serving deserves more buzz. We ordered the chicken tikka kebab, butter chicken, methi malai shrimp, and garlic naan. I'll admit, I was skeptical about the chicken tikka since I'm not usually a fan of chicken breast (hello, dryness). But this? Tender, juicy, well-seasoned, and paired beautifully with the mint sauce. A strong start. The butter chicken was slightly different from what I'm used to -- more red orange in color, clearly leaning into a stronger tomato base. Creamy, flavorful, and a bit brighter than the typical richer versions. Different, but still very good. And then... the methi malai shrimp. Wow. Just wow. This was new to me and absolutely the standout. The coconut-based sauce was rich without being heavy, beautifully balanced, and full of flavor. The shrimp were cooked perfectly -- tender, not rubbery, and not curled tight (which usually signals overcooking). This dish alone makes the 30-minute drive worth it. I've since checked menus closer to home hoping to find it elsewhere... no luck. The garlic naan was the perfect companion -- flavorful but not overpowering, ideal for scooping up every last bit of sauce from both dishes. Service deserves its own spotlight. The host/waiter was phenomenal -- attentive without hovering. Water glasses stayed filled, he checked in just enough, and at one point mentioned he didn't want to interrupt because it looked like we were deep in conversation. That level of awareness? Appreciated. Smaller, intimate setting. Thoughtful service. Well-executed food. If you're in Vacaville and craving Indian food, give this place a try. In my opinion, it absolutely holds its own -- and maybe even edges out the more "popular" spot in town. And yes, I'll be back for that methi malai shrimp.

I always go for the butter chicken, medium spicy, and it is so good. The flavor is rich, perfectly spiced, and just hits every time. A problem because it is just thaaaaat delicious and they have a massive vegetarian menu I want to work my way through. A very yelpy problem to have if I may say so. We ordered a take away last week for lunch with veggie samosas, garlic naan, basmati rice, and an order of mushroom masala for me, something meaty for my love that I've forgotten the name of. We loved our food and the ease of ordering online for pickup. Everything was fire. Rich, flavorful mushroom masala with plenty of fresh vegetables. How I savored the sauce. Yum. Luckily there were leftovers for the next day! The garlic naan was plenty garlicky, fresh, hot, and yummy. Samosas were so hot it took awhile and some patience before they could be savored. Excellent. Crispy perfection on the outside, and packed with filling and spices. Even the basmati rice was fantastic. I would order everything again. But. I have so many other items to try, from paneer to curry to okra served in a different way than I am used to. We have not dined in yet, but I'm sure we will soon. Service so far has been great. They made sure we didn't forget anything when picking up, from utensils to rice sides. Prices were lower than what I'm used to as well, so that's a bonus. Can't speak to the ambiance much yet, but it seems like a good place to dine in.

I ordered some takeout here on a weekday evening around 8:00 p.m. The restaurant was pretty dead when I arrived to pick It up; there was only one couple eaating inside. The food smelled incredible though. I was worried when I was ordering because the butter chicken was $18 which seemed reasonable until I realized that didn't come with anything else, not even rice. I added some rice, some garlic naan, and a couple of samosas and it was over $30 for my dinner before tip. I had high hopes. Did I mention it smelled amazing? The ride home with that bag of food in the car was agonizing. When I got home there was about 2 and 1/2 cups of butter chicken, two cups of rice, two samosas, and a good sized naan, so you could actually probably feed two people with this meal. That made me feel a lot better about the cost. The food itself was very good. The butter chicken was spicier than I am used to, so I was only able to eat a small portion of it, but I finished the rest the next day. Leftovers are always nice. I would probably skip the naan next time, but the samosas were very tasty and a good size, so I would definitely get those again. They were also spicy, but not as overpoweringly so as the butter chicken. I would definitely come back to this location. The employees were nice and the food was yummy and satisfying.

Fast forward to now, my husband, sister, and I decided to come here for dinner because yeti restaurant was closed. For those who haven't been in here before, the best way I can describe this restaurant is dark. Paint is dark, booth are dark. Everything is kind of moody and dark. Definitely not my kind of aesthetic, but does that really matter for this restaurant? No. The service is always fine. Staff is always friendly enough and fast. When we got the food, we were pleasantly surprised, like I said before I have only eaten at the buffet here and that was over a decade ago. While we were eating, we noted that we actually enjoyed the flavors here more than we enjoy the flavors at yeti restaurant. Something about the blend of spices just fits our palette more than the other restaurant. We found that there was an adequate amount of food, they didn't skimp out on meats, and we were overall really happy with our meal. Is it the best Indian food I've ever had? No, but it was really good by Davis standards and consider considering that there aren't a ton of Indian places in the Sacramento area. I think this might be our new go to Indian place now! I'm glad I gave this another shot!

Kathmandu Kitchen is named after a city in Nepal, so it should be no surprise the food here is Indian and Nepali. While I can't speak to the flavor or authenticity of their momos or other Nepali staples, their curries are extremely delicious and distinct from other Indian restaurants and recipes I've tried. I think the first thing you might notice is that a lot of their curries have a touch of sweetness, and pretty much all of their curries have a consistent texture. They do an amazing job making each curry silky and rich and flavorful. Every dish tastes fresh and unique in their own spice profiles and marinades. I highly recommend the paneer tikka masala, chicken makhani (very similar/the same as butter chicken I think), kitchen masala, and basil curry. Also, their actual restaurant experience is very nice too. The staff is very courteous and professional. The restaurant is large, vibey, and clean. There are two reasons I don't give Kathmandu a 5 star. The first that both me and partner almost always need to add salt to the dish. I could see why someone might write off Kathmandu if they went a few times and wrote it off because they never tried adding salt to their dish. The second reason is that the spice level isn't as consistent as I'd like. Sometimes, asking for medium spice level results in almost no heat, sometimes it borders on too much. Sometimes getting hot spice level is hot but enjoyable, sometimes it's very hot even for me. Mild is consistent but Id guess that's because they simply don't add extra hot chili powder or something like that. Overall, I highly recommend this spot if you love Indian food and want to try some Nepali spins and flavors.

I am so glad I came! First they boasted about 40 different items! Apparently that's a lot, even by fancy Indian hotel standards! Thus the variety is of the charts! And you know this canto critic! He loves him some variety! There were so much good. Where to start... The best was the crab curry. I've never had crab and Indian masala curry before. Thus hands down it was the best! The crab legs were quite sweet. And even the curry itself very, very sweet as well! I had so much grab curry. The crab curry came in a long tray! So I got as much as I could eat! It was basically crab fest or crab feed! Second they had shrimp curry! That was also nothing I had before. It was ok. Nothing fancy other than a new Indian novelty. The mutton curry was very good. Very chunky pieces of meat! It may have been very spiced. But it was still very good. I've also had the mutton biryani and the jackfruit biryani was also good. I've never had jackfruit biryani either so to me it looked like beef at first. Man today was a day of firsts for me. This just shows that indeed it was a 40 item meal. I was having so much anticipation and let me say, I was not disappointed. Not disappointed at all, like I was when I watched Coolie... I really had a great time eating Indian food, trying out different new curries, jackfruit, and even a few Indian sweets that I normally would avoid. But today I had my fill. I wish part of the 40 item buffet banquet came with masala chai, mango lassi, or mango soft swerve ice cream. Oh well. The crab more than made up for it. Oh the other stuff were good too like the naan, sambar, saag, pakora, fried fish, samosa, etc. I prolly shouldn't be wasting my money and stomach in such items but this steak smoking canto can't cook sambar or saag so sue me!
