    Lamb Vindaloo and Butter Chicken

First time at Mr Dosa! We came with our friends and got a variety of items to try. We got the fish pakora and it was very flavorful and juicy! The fish was tender and I loved the chutney they served with it. We got the lamb tikka dosa, it's like a crepe like wrap with lamb and vegetables inside, served with three different sauces. Next time I want to try just a cheese dosa! For the mains, we got lamb vindaloo and butter chicken, both super flavorful and delicious. It went perfect with the fluffy rice! Garlic Naan was superb, so garlicky, and so fresh! This was so good and I will definitely be back !

Came back! Had the gongura biriyani and the carrot halwa with vanilla nice cream! BY FAR THE BEST TWO ITEMS SO FAR IVE HAD. Highly recommend! The gongura biriyani tastes super authentic South Indian from the homeland. The carrot halwa with vanilla ice cream was perfect flavors and blend of sweet and cream richness. Oh mannnn ‍ Quick service and friendly. Parking right outside. Casual sit down. Could've been more fancy but I love it nonetheless.

Here's the review from a regular customer (ME). I've been rooting for this spot since day 1. Unfortunately, they have disappointed me for the last few weeks. Two weeks in row, the biryani does not meet the standard expectation. How can someone make basmati rice sticky? Did they use jasmine rice for biryani. It wasn't separated. It was all clumped up. And the taste was horrible. And recently they gave me lamb biryani instead of chicken. They mixed up someone else's order. It's such a waste of my money. They will soon lose a valuable customer with the hiccups.

Goat curry, dosa filled with potatoes, and chicken tikka masala. Soooo good!

Been there twice, once for lunch and dinner tonight. Both experiences were wonderful. The food is made fresh and the server is very attentive. Although it was a packed night we got seated within 10 minutes. Lovely place for good Indian food and calm atmosphere.

Yes, it's that good! Eaten here a number of times and we leave here with a full stomach of happiness. If hubby's tummy could talk, it will be helping me write this review. Lol What's we ordered and featured in this review! Didn't disappoint - so so good. Each item came to the table hot and fresh! Garlic Naan Butter Chicken Fish Pakora Lamb Biryani Why I didn't give it a 5 star... As I mentioned, I been here a few times and each time, we walk into a few dirty tables and it will remain dirty for awhile. I understand that restaurants get busy but it's not the best impression or pleasant to see. Yes, will still come back of course - the food is that good! Service is pleasant.

Tried this place for the first time with my sister. Ordered the butter chicken and the chicken tikka dosa. This was my first time trying dosa. It was really good but a bit salty to me and I really love salt. Dosa is a Flat Thin Layered Crepe Made from Fermented Rice and Lentil Batter. It's served with Sambar (Lentil Based Veg. Stew), Coconut & Tomato, Chutney Sauce). All the sauces were really tasty as well. Staff were friendly. Plenty of parking.

I've been craving Indian food. This place is tucked behind the Walgreens on Franklin and Laguna Blvd. Walk inside and the smell draws you in. Steady stream of take out orders and families coming/going on this day. It was my first time there. The menu is extensive and the waitress took the time to make some recommendations. Settled on the chicken tikka dosa. The sauces that accompanied the dish were wonderful. I liked the tomato sauce the best. Definitely a dish to be shared. Flavors were good. Meat was tender.

Great find in the Folsom area on way to Lake Tahoe , looks like newer India restaurant in this area. We had the chicken tikka dosa (nice and tasty) and the talapakkati goat biryani!! The biryani was nice but the seerga sambar rice was little overcooked I felt. They have lot of other good options so will stop again in the future!

This is definitely the best Indian restaurant in the Sacramento area! This is also my second review. The last time I was here was about a year ago, and the food and services is still excellent!!! My first time trying their dessert and it was surprisingly delicious!

10/10 recommend this place. It's a combination of wonderful Indian food. There's so many options. I bought my mom here for the first time and she loved it. She's a very picky person so if she loves a spot she'll start coming often. We started off with pani poori and it was delicious. I ordered myself a lemon soda and my mom ordered their chai which was okay. The food here is the main thing. If you're looking for a new Indian spot in Elk Grove I would recommend checking out Mr.Dosa.

It's not often that I visit autehtic Indian cuisine…read more I grew up Texas and the Bay area most of my life and honestly only visited buffet type establishments in the past. Recently moving to Elk Grove, I was was surprised to see so many different restaurants and multiple food choices. That said, our group last night decided to try Indian food. Wow! And I mean a big smiled tummy rumbling WOW!!! Indian oven is the beast Indian food I have ever tasted! As you know, in my previous reviews, I have also taken into consideration, the ambiance, the restaurant cleanliness (Including the restrooms) and also the staffs demeanor when submitting reviews. I must admit, I am not surprised that this restaurant easily deserves five stars - on all points! If it wasn't for our server "Rinku", our group would never have realized the meticulous efforts made by ownership and staff in presenting so many varied and wonderful tasting dishes we were not previously aware of. In that, I mean, that when you go to a new restaurant, you look at the menu and you take somewhat of a chance in experiencing dishes that sound good, but having no previous experience/s there, may not receive the best tasting meal on the menu. Rinku not only explained the dishes and ingredients, he also gave a little bit of history and process involved into preparing such wonderful tasting meals - throughout. He took the time to answer our questions with as much detail, history, that was necessary for us to understand how much goes into making exceptional Indian cuisine. He highlighted the nuances involved in the preperation processes, the cooking methods, and the reasoning behind obtaining/ producing such differing textures, depths, and tones of flavors. And pointedly, I noticed that everything was very fresh, possibly and most likely made with heartfelt love for India Ovens' patrons. Once again if it wasn't for Rinkus' recommendations, we would not have known what to choose, pertaining to our personal likes, and to be honest, spiciness and heat tolerances of each individual in our group. From this point forward, I will not have any predetermined expectations of what food quality and/or flavors should/could taste like. Amongst our group, we ordered approximately eight different menu items, each with very specific and distinct flavors, and as mentioned before, wonderful textures. I (Rarely and highly) recommend family, friends, colleagues, and the general public to come here, not once, twice, but often, to experience the full menu - all in its time. I recommend that you come and experience wonderful savory Indian cuisine like no other. Thank you Rinku!

The Naan was delicious!! It was a staple with the curry. Now the star of the show, the chicken Karahi. It reminded me of when my friends mom used to cook that for me when I came over. One of my favorites and I am SO happy that this place carries it. It was spicy and delicious. The chicken was cooked so perfectly, and the green chiles made it taste even better. Come try this place if you haven't already! I loved it and so did my son who is 5. Service: could've been better. Our server seemed uninterested in being there & didn't respond to any thank yous or smiles.

It had been far too long since I last sat down at this restaurant, and even longer--nearly a year--since I'd seen my brother. Sharing this experience with him and my sister-in-law turned an ordinary outing into something quietly meaningful, the kind of reunion that lingers long after the table is cleared. GOGI itself has evolved in thoughtful ways. Where once you relied on attentive staff to guide your order, now a sleek tablet rests at the table's edge, placing the entire menu at your fingertips. It's an effortless, modern touch that allows you to move at your own pace--lingering over choices, ordering freely, and focusing on what matters most: the company and the experience. The hot pot remains the heart of the meal--warm, comforting, and deeply satisfying. Each simmering bite feels both indulgent and familiar, like returning to a place you didn't realize you missed. Complementing it is an array of banchan that brings variety and balance, alongside a generous self-serve station filled with sauces, fresh fruits, and small delights that invite you to customize every bite. And then there are the simple pleasures: helping yourself to a swirl of ice cream at the end of the meal, a small but joyful ritual that rounds out the experience with a touch of sweetness. By the time we finished, I was more than full--I was content. Not just from the food, but from the warmth of reconnection, the ease of the setting, and the quiet excellence of a place that continues to adapt while holding onto what makes it special. If you're looking for more than just a meal--if you're seeking comfort, connection, and a dining experience that feels both modern and deeply personal--GOGI is well worth your visit.
