Came in around 7:30pm. Yelp reviews are what brought my mother and I here. Walked in, there was not a single customer and there was a worker at the cash register and one walking the floor on the phone. Noone said anything. So I said to my mom, I guess we seat ourselves. As we are walking to a table the young man on the phone says something that acknowledged us but I couldn't make it out. It wasn't the same. It was on the sweeter side and lacking the crunch. It was okay but not what I had in mind. I also ordered the GOBI PAKORA. It's fried cauliflower seasoned in chickpea batter. Yummy appetizer but on the spicy for me. The BUTTER CHICKEN served with rice or NAAN was my favorite. The mild tomato cream sauce infused with spices was my kind of spicy level. Honestly, this is a solid option for Indian food in the Sac area. We have tried quite a few Indian restaurants trying to find our go-to and it has been quite a difficult task. Let's start with what went well: This restaurant has delicious naan--it's chewy, soft, warm, with a little crisp to it. The curries were hot and arrived as described. I think if I could have a redo I would order the paneer tikka masala as my husband's chicken tikka nasal looked good and the curry sauce had a pleasant, , creamy flavor. I, however, ordered the aloo matar, a dish I have had before and liked but this one was kind of bitter and not as creamy as I remembered it being elsewhere. Curries came with generous portions of basmati rice...I would say one serving is more than enough for two people. Inside is very clean and staff were patient as my partner and I scanned their lengthy menu. Chaat Bistro is on the pricier side, and our meal was about $50; however, the amount of food helps justify the price. Their samosas were so good that I forgot to take a picture before digging in. Our two favorite curies so far are the butter chicken and the vindaloo chicken, and we can't get enough of the batter-fried cauliflower (gobi pakora). Chaat also has some of the best naan we've had - slightly crispy and chewy without being too dense. Finally, it was recommended we try the mango lassi drink during our last visit. Entering this restaurant, I expected a sit-down service at the table type place, but you order at a counter, and it feels more like a fast food emporium. The place is very neat, clean, and well organized, and the offerings are what you'd find at finer quality Indian restaurants. There were four of us, and I ordered the Lamb Biryani. Along with it, I got a Garlic Pesto Naan and a Sweet Lassi. The food is actually quite good and as good as at a better quality restaurant serving Indian food. The portions are also quite large. I had a spicy version, and the heat level was just right. The lamb was tender and perfectly cooked. The yogurt sauce cones in a small dish on the side. They automatically give you plastic glasses for filling with water. The service was friendly enough, but it fell apart in getting the meals. One meal came out, and we all sat there awkwardly waiting, and after 10 minutes, another one arrived. We waited again for several minutes until another one arrived, and the last one had some five or more minutes after. Meanwhile, the first delivered meals were getting cold. They appeared to be juggling delivery to two tables, ours and another, and it was totally out of sync and frustrating. A friend suggested Chaat Bistro in Delta Shores and I was immediately excited to try a new Indian option as it's one of my favorite types of food. The building is right by Tastea and is clean and modern. These set ups give off corporate vibes, but when I looked them up it's clear that it's a family owned business. In fact, the website says it's family owned and their family has been in the restaurant business for over 25 years. This is the type of place where you place your order at the front counter and pay and then they'll bring your food to you. They have a lot of great options on their menu and it was hard to choose. We ended up ordering the Pani Puri, Chili Chicken, Lamb Biryani and garlic naan. The Pani Puri were fun to eat, but a bit messy. Definitely a great appetizer to wake up your taste buds with a medley of flavors before the main course. The Chili Chicken was delicious, moist and packed with flavor with a bit of heat at the end, we paired this with the naan and it was so good together. The Lamb Biryani was also so good, filled with flavor and the meat was really tender. All the ingredients seemed fresh and the portions were enough that we not only shared these dishes between the two of us but went home with enough for another meal each. Usually get my papdri chaat from somewhere else but saw this place and wanted to try. I ordered online and I would say the price is a couple dollars overpriced based on the quantity. I'm not sure if I had ordered in person if it was the same, but on their own website it was $8ish and then with a convenience fee and tax came out to $11 something. The container used is quite small but they do fill it up, I think a price of $7 is more reasonable considering there's no expensive ingredients or meat in it. I would get it from here again but I think I prefer my main place as their quantity is more and their price is about $8 I didn't try their other menu items, but there seems to be many options and also the plaza it is in has many complimentary options as well. read more

We ordered the masala fries which were delicious, not oily at all. Per my fiancé "the best fries he has ever had" and it's a pretty big serving! Then we had butter chicken. They ask you what level of spice you want. It was flavorful and delicious! The nan were fluffy and crisp at the same time. Super flavorful -- very fresh!!
