My 1st plate of delicious food! So good!!!

I just love the buffet at this spot. They offer so many awesome items to allow you to have a serving of all the good stuff. I went for the dinner buffet and just loved the additional Goat Curry and Fish Pakora. They alone are worth the slightly extra cost compared to the lunch buffet. Pro tip - Add some butter chicken and goat curry gravy on the fish pakora. I'd also suggest adding gravy to your veggie pakora too. Makes them so savory!!! Everything is so flavorful. The garlic naan (made to order) is really good and makes for a perfect vessel to sop up all the awesome gravies from the different dishes. I really enjoy this spot. Try them out yourself. I think you will love them too.

This place never disappoints. I've never not liked something I've gotten here so I always try to get at least one thing I've never had before. Today I got: Gulab Jamun- a sweet milk dessert that was rolled in this amazing rose honey syrup. Chicken Tikka Masala- roasted marinated chicken chunks in a spiced creamy tomatoey sauce. Aloo Tikki- deep fried mashed potatoes patties mixed with herbs and spices. Everything was delicious. The Galub Jamun was the perfect amount of sweet. Chicken Tikka Masala was great, super flavorful and the chicken was cooked perfectly- it also came with rice. And the Aloo Tikki was great on its own but I also dipped it in my chicken tikka masala, perfect mix of flavors. I'd definitely order from here again :)

When I told friends I was going to Dixon, several folks said THE place to eat there was Punjabi Dhaba and I had to make a stop. So we told our other friends we were meeting that this was going to be our dinner spot. They were excited too since they were not regular Indian food eaters and were eager to try good Indian food. Sadly this was a perfect setup for a massive let down and that's what happened. We walked in and saw they had a buffet that did not look that appealing so we decided to go the a la carte path. The staff just did not seem interested in helping us. Everything from the drinks order to the food order to getting the food to getting the check taken care of took a VERY long time and multiple requests and multiple trips to the front. It felt like being unwelcome guests. Oh, and they brought the appetizer order right before we were about to leave and forgot part of our drinks order despite multiple asks. After all that... the food was very average. Even our friends said they had had much better Indian food. One more thing, the restroom was disgusting. I was so excited to try them and walked in thinking 5 star but left so disappointed and upset. I hate leaving 1 star reviews but this one earned it.

PORTIONS: fitting PRICE: appropriate SERVICE: table service, friendly SURROUNDINGS: eclectic - I kind of like the open office to the right of the door and the lady staring me down daring me to say something FLAVORS: + lamb karahi + aloo gobi ++ meat samosa (not pictured) +++ chicken lentil soup (not pictured bc it was inhaled almost instantly) BONUS ROUND: told husband every time he passes through Dixon he needs to bring me food from here from now on!!!

Pretty good Indian food, I really liked the buttered chicken and the naan. The only thing is that the amount of chicken in the buttered chicken wasn't that much--it might have just been a scope fluke. Also the fish pakora was kinda dry. They did have the herb sauces which helped with the pakora dryness. Service was fast and pleasant! Next to a fruit stand off the freeway so may look a bit sketchy on the outside but felt safe inside! Restaurant has a bar and looks like could be interesting at night!

We had them in the list as friends had suggested it and I had been there once before. We stopped on our way back from Tahoe. After spending 4 hrs in traffic without food it was so good too have home style meal. We ordered tea, sweet lassi and paneer pakora to start with. All were good. Tea quantity is good. For main we shared chicken achari with garlic naan. It was freshly cooked and chicken for a change surprisingly tender. It was quiet when we were there. Observed they had steamed rice being served with some r go dishes. Definitely good spot if you are craving some good curry and naan on your way to Sacramento/ Tahoe/ Reno. It's a typical dhaba style food and liked little decor pieces on the counter. Service is quick too.

My new favorite spot for Indian food! The best malai kofta I've tried! They also do super tasty appetisers samosa and aloo tiki chat - basically those covered in sauces yoghurt anc chickpeas! Their pricing is unmatched especially me coming from Davis Takeout food is still perfectly hot after a drive home - just open the tinfoil on any bread just a little so it doesn't sweat Dine in? They have an extensive menu but also an incredibly priced buffet- 14.99 lunch 18.99 dinner! And lots of great vegetarian options on the buffet

A friend and I met here for lunch to celebrate her birthday and catch up. We arrived right at opening and had the place to ourselves for about an hour. Guests slowly trickled in closer to the lunch rush, but I was honestly surprised it wasn't packed -- because what they're serving deserves more buzz. We ordered the chicken tikka kebab, butter chicken, methi malai shrimp, and garlic naan. I'll admit, I was skeptical about the chicken tikka since I'm not usually a fan of chicken breast (hello, dryness). But this? Tender, juicy, well-seasoned, and paired beautifully with the mint sauce. A strong start. The butter chicken was slightly different from what I'm used to -- more red orange in color, clearly leaning into a stronger tomato base. Creamy, flavorful, and a bit brighter than the typical richer versions. Different, but still very good. And then... the methi malai shrimp. Wow. Just wow. This was new to me and absolutely the standout. The coconut-based sauce was rich without being heavy, beautifully balanced, and full of flavor. The shrimp were cooked perfectly -- tender, not rubbery, and not curled tight (which usually signals overcooking). This dish alone makes the 30-minute drive worth it. I've since checked menus closer to home hoping to find it elsewhere... no luck. The garlic naan was the perfect companion -- flavorful but not overpowering, ideal for scooping up every last bit of sauce from both dishes. Service deserves its own spotlight. The host/waiter was phenomenal -- attentive without hovering. Water glasses stayed filled, he checked in just enough, and at one point mentioned he didn't want to interrupt because it looked like we were deep in conversation. That level of awareness? Appreciated. Smaller, intimate setting. Thoughtful service. Well-executed food. If you're in Vacaville and craving Indian food, give this place a try. In my opinion, it absolutely holds its own -- and maybe even edges out the more "popular" spot in town. And yes, I'll be back for that methi malai shrimp.

We were seated immediately, which I always appreciate. The space is pretty big with a modern feel, and there's plenty of parking out front (no circling the lot like a hawk -- love that). Even though they gave us the lunch menu, we went à la carte. Ordered: tandoori chicken, butter chicken, coconut shrimp, butter naan, and rice -- all medium spice where applicable. The tandoori chicken was tender and well seasoned -- no dry chicken nonsense here. The butter chicken was exactly what you want it to be: rich, creamy, tomato-forward, and comforting. But the one that caught me off guard a bit was the coconut shrimp -- creamy, slightly sweet, and a little more mild than "medium" heat, probably because of the coconut milk, but still really good. And listen... the butter naan? Fresh, warm, and absolutely necessary. Both the butter chicken and coconut shrimp were made for dipping. No shame in wiping those plates clean. Service was great. Staff was kind, checked in on us without hovering, and kept our water filled without us needing to flag anyone down. Overall -- easy, enjoyable lunch. Good food, good service, no complaints. I am so glad I came! First they boasted about 40 different items! Apparently that's a lot, even by fancy Indian hotel standards! Thus the variety is of the charts! And you know this canto critic! He loves him some variety! There were so much good. Where to start... The best was the crab curry. I've never had crab and Indian masala curry before. Thus hands down it was the best! The crab legs were quite sweet. And even the curry itself very, very sweet as well! I had so much grab curry. The crab curry came in a long tray! So I got as much as I could eat! It was basically crab fest or crab feed! Second they had shrimp curry! That was also nothing I had before. It was ok. Nothing fancy other than a new Indian novelty. The mutton curry was very good. Very chunky pieces of meat! It may have been very spiced. But it was still very good. I've also had the mutton biryani and the jackfruit biryani was also good. I've never had jackfruit biryani either so to me it looked like beef at first. Man today was a day of firsts for me. This just shows that indeed it was a 40 item meal. I was having so much anticipation and let me say, I was not disappointed. Not disappointed at all, like I was when I watched Coolie... I really had a great time eating Indian food, trying out different new curries, jackfruit, and even a few Indian sweets that I normally would avoid. But today I had my fill. I wish part of the 40 item buffet banquet came with masala chai, mango lassi, or mango soft swerve ice cream. Oh well. The crab more than made up for it. Oh the other stuff were good too like the naan, sambar, saag, pakora, fried fish, samosa, etc. I prolly shouldn't be wasting my money and stomach in such items but this steak smoking canto can't cook sambar or saag so sue me! The staff were great. They were friendly, prompt, and refilled water enough even tho the place was packed! LoR: Solid A

Fast forward to now, my husband, sister, and I decided to come here for dinner because yeti restaurant was closed. For those who haven't been in here before, the best way I can describe this restaurant is dark. Paint is dark, booth are dark. Everything is kind of moody and dark. Definitely not my kind of aesthetic, but does that really matter for this restaurant? No. The service is always fine. Staff is always friendly enough and fast. When we got the food, we were pleasantly surprised, like I said before I have only eaten at the buffet here and that was over a decade ago. While we were eating, we noted that we actually enjoyed the flavors here more than we enjoy the flavors at yeti restaurant. Something about the blend of spices just fits our palette more than the other restaurant. We found that there was an adequate amount of food, they didn't skimp out on meats, and we were overall really happy with our meal. Is it the best Indian food I've ever had? No, but it was really good by Davis standards and consider considering that there aren't a ton of Indian places in the Sacramento area. I think this might be our new go to Indian place now! I'm glad I gave this another shot!

Kathmandu Kitchen is named after a city in Nepal, so it should be no surprise the food here is Indian and Nepali. While I can't speak to the flavor or authenticity of their momos or other Nepali staples, their curries are extremely delicious and distinct from other Indian restaurants and recipes I've tried. I think the first thing you might notice is that a lot of their curries have a touch of sweetness, and pretty much all of their curries have a consistent texture. They do an amazing job making each curry silky and rich and flavorful. Every dish tastes fresh and unique in their own spice profiles and marinades. I highly recommend the paneer tikka masala, chicken makhani (very similar/the same as butter chicken I think), kitchen masala, and basil curry. Also, their actual restaurant experience is very nice too. The staff is very courteous and professional. The restaurant is large, vibey, and clean. There are two reasons I don't give Kathmandu a 5 star. The first that both me and partner almost always need to add salt to the dish. I could see why someone might write off Kathmandu if they went a few times and wrote it off because they never tried adding salt to their dish. The second reason is that the spice level isn't as consistent as I'd like. Sometimes, asking for medium spice level results in almost no heat, sometimes it borders on too much. Sometimes getting hot spice level is hot but enjoyable, sometimes it's very hot even for me. Mild is consistent but Id guess that's because they simply don't add extra hot chili powder or something like that. Overall, I highly recommend this spot if you love Indian food and want to try some Nepali spins and flavors.

While the chicken was tender and fall apart, it was a little dry. Not dry enough to make the dish unenjoyable, but definitely a little drier than I expected when comparing to the Samosa Chaat. Service - the two individuals manning the food truck were very nice and explained all the various dishes to me. You also get a little free water with your order.
