I suppose I should mention too that it was 8:40 in the morning and the temp was going to be in the high 90's. Thankfully we were stalled next to an opening in the pylons to the south traveling traffic so when the car had cooled enough, we got off at the first available exit-Hanover St and found this garage. The two gentleman at Whay's were so SO kind and quickly diagnosed our problem (bad fan motor) and offered us advice as to who could fix it quickly for us (we were en route to Maine for work). The woman who works here even offered us water. We were so grateful for their kindness and that they took the time to even look at the car given they were already backed up with work so they must be good.

Grease Monkey on Ritchie Highway is unlike any automotive repair shop I have encountered in the…read moreBaltimore-Glen Burnie area. What separates this location from the typical garage is their combination of speed, mechanical capability, immediate service, and determination to finish the job correctly. I brought my vehicle in for substantial rear-brake work involving new brake drums, wheel bearings, brake components, hardware, and the related parts needed to properly complete the repair. Instead of telling me to leave the vehicle for several days before a technician could even begin, they started working on it immediately. That is the remarkable part of their business model. They provide the urgency people expect from a quick-service operation, but they are capable of performing serious and complex mechanical repairs. When additional parts were needed, they were able to obtain them from nearby suppliers extremely quickly. In one instance, the replacement drums arrived in roughly 15 minutes, and the technicians continued the repair without unnecessary delay. I also observed other customers arriving with automotive problems and saw the same sense of urgency: diagnose the problem, obtain what is needed, and get to work. There was no attitude of, "Leave it here and maybe we will get to it in a few days." The young leadership and technicians work with tremendous tenacity. If a repair requires another component, another adjustment, or another step, they keep moving forward until the vehicle is properly repaired. I did not have to stand over anyone or repeatedly ask whether the related components were being addressed. They handled the repair comprehensively. Many dealerships and traditional repair shops can keep a vehicle for several days simply because it is waiting in line before anyone begins working on it. Grease Monkey has created something different: bring the vehicle in, get the repair started, obtain the necessary parts quickly, complete the mechanical work, and get the customer back on the road. Their building says, "Done Fast. Done Right." After experiencing their service firsthand, I can say that is more than advertising. It describes how this location operates. For drivers, families, commuters, and businesses with fleet vehicles throughout the Baltimore and Glen Burnie area, this is a shop worth knowing about. Five stars. Grease Monkey is not simply another repair garage. They are demonstrating what modern automotive service should look like.

I've been meaning to write this review for a while, but life has been busy. As a single woman and a…read moremother, it can be really hard to find a mechanic you can trust without feeling like you're being taken advantage of. Unfortunately, that has been my experience more times than I'd like to admit. The first shop I called gave me a bad feeling right away based on their customer service, but I still made an appointment. Afterward, I checked their Yelp reviews and was shocked by how many negative ones they had. That didn't sit right with me, so I decided to get a second quote. I already had a good idea of what was wrong with my car based on past experience. When I called this shop, the difference was immediate. They were professional, respectful, and didn't argue with me or try to upsell me on unnecessary repairs. I specifically looked for negative reviews--and there were none. I dropped my car off early that morning, and they gave me a clear time estimate for when it would be ready. They even sent photos of the issue. While I didn't fully understand what I was looking at, the fact that they were transparent enough to share images--knowing I could easily research them--told me everything I needed to know about their honesty. I don't remember the technician's name, but they took great care of my foreign car, Lexi, and I'm beyond relieved not to be driving around with grinding rotors anymore. I truly appreciate their professionalism and the way they treated me as a customer. Every single mother needs a mechanic she can feel safe with--and I'm so grateful I found one. Thank you all for your help.

In 2022, I drove through one of Baltimore's massive potholes & the loud screeching I heard next was…read moremy car's exhaust train dragging across the pavement. My mechanic in Catonsville said Marvin's was the one place in the Baltimore metro area he trusted to fix & replace only the parts that actually needed it, as the issue was some sections of the exhaust train & the metal parts clamping it to the car had rusted enough for the whole exhaust train to break free when I hit the pothole [my car's so old, its stereo is an AM/FM radio + cassette tape & CD player which was a "deluxe" upgrade back when someone bought it new from their local dealership]. I trusted my mechanic, so I drove from Catonsville to Brooklyn Park & showed up as a walk-in at Marvin's. It was first come, first served & they had a vehicle in each bay plus 1-2 others who'd checked in ahead of me. I sat & read a book I was in the middle of, & before I knew it, one of the guys told me I could pay & be on my way. I asked how much I owed, then had to ask him to repeat it because I was sure I'd missed part of the number he'd said, because my total couldn't possibly be a number with so few digits. Turns out I'd heard it right the first time. That was 4 years ago. I still drive the same car & haven't had any issues with the exhaust system since (still passes its MVA smog checks). If you've got a muffler or any exhaust train issue, this is the place to at least get an estimate, whether you live in the City or in whichever Maryland county & driving to Brooklyn Park is quicker than driving to DC or PA. Marvin's is honest, has experienced mechanics, and no one there tried to sell me anything - they just put my car in a bay, lifted it up, looked at it from below & told me they could fix it. Which took less time & MUCH less money than I'd expected.
