In 2022, I drove through one of Baltimore's massive potholes & the loud screeching I heard next was my car's exhaust train dragging across the pavement. My mechanic in Catonsville said Marvin's was the one place in the Baltimore metro area he trusted to fix & replace only the parts that actually needed it, as the issue was some sections of the exhaust train & the metal parts clamping it to the car had rusted enough for the whole exhaust train to break free when I hit the pothole [my car's so old, its stereo is an AM/FM radio + cassette tape & CD player which was a "deluxe" upgrade back when someone bought it new from their local dealership]. I trusted my mechanic, so I drove from Catonsville to Brooklyn Park & showed up as a walk-in at Marvin's. It was first come, first served & they had a vehicle in each bay plus 1-2 others who'd checked in ahead of me. I sat & read a book I was in the middle of, & before I knew it, one of the guys told me I could pay & be on my way. I asked how much I owed, then had to ask him to repeat it because I was sure I'd missed part of the number he'd said, because my total couldn't possibly be a number with so few digits. Turns out I'd heard it right the first time. That was 4 years ago. I still drive the same car & haven't had any issues with the exhaust system since (still passes its MVA smog checks). If you've got a muffler or any exhaust train issue, this is the place to at least get an estimate, whether you live in the City or in whichever Maryland county & driving to Brooklyn Park is quicker than driving to DC or PA. Marvin's is honest, has experienced mechanics, and no one there tried to sell me anything - they just put my car in a bay, lifted it up, looked at it from below & told me they could fix it. This place is the best ! It is the ONLY muffler shop I will ever use . Have been coming here for almost twenty years and have always been treated with respect and had great work done for what I consider to be inexpensive as far as auto repairs go. Had dual exhaust put on my Ford pickup for half of what other shops wanted. I am taking my 1988 Toyota pickup there in the morning for a muffler . They put a new exhaust system in two years ago and the other day my truck backfired ( and I mean backfired ! ) and blew the side of the muffler out . Not their fault . Truck is getting serviced Monday for that issue at A&B auto repair ( another great shop !! ) Anyway , Marvin is the best guy around for exhaust work and I pray they stick around for another 20 years ! I was told by my normal mechanic that I would need a new muffler and center pipe because they were rusting. He was unable to get the parts I needed so I went to Marvin's. Marvin's crew looked at it and told me the rust was only external and the stainless steel Muffler was just fine. They said it didn't need replacing and "wouldn't do that to me" (as in replace something that was fine). They also said they wouldn't be surprised if my muffler lasted the entire life of the car. The owner Marvin wouldn't take any money for looking at it and only said to spread the word about his place so here it is :) Shop hours are 8:30-5pm M-F and 8-12pm Saturday. No appointments are necessary but get there early if you want to go on a Saturday. Apparently when I showed up it was "peak" time (10:30amish) so there was a 1/2 hour wait (not complaining about that though - he was busy!) read more

I was told by the mechanic shop near my home that the noise I was hearing was my muffler and that I need a new muffler. He told me to go to some place in Glen Burnie that I never heard of before, but back in the 1990's I had gone to Marvin's (he was on the other side of Ritchie Hwy then) and was so happy with the work I thought it best to go there this time. I am so glad I did. All I need was a casket and bolt. And I got there about 30 minutes before closing. I thought for sure I would have to make an appointment and come back. But no Marvin fixed it right than and I was on my way in 20 minutes. And I didn't need to break into my savings account! Marvin's Muffler Works is the best. They are so honest and great prices. I'm not one to write reviews, but I felt compelled to say something after the service I received today from Marvin's Mufflers. My exhaust pipe broke and I was told by another mechanic that the catalytic converter would need replaced so that the pipe could be reattached. The guy quoted $860 for the part alone. Because I was told the catalytic converter needed replaced, I took my car to the dealership to see if it was still under the emission's warranty (which, it is, if the catalytic converter was actually the problem..). The guy at the dealership said that it would cost $1,300 for a new converter and for the labor, etc. He said that because of where the exhaust pipe broke, they did not have the equipment to weld it back together. Thus, they said a new catalytic converter would have to be ordered. Alright, so I decided to try one last place because of a recommendation I received from a coworker. I took my car in at 8:30 am, as Marvin's Muffler's is first come first serve. The guy took one look at the exhaust and said "Yeah, we just have to weld this right here. It'll cost $80." WOW.. $80? That is a ridiculous difference from the $1,300 I was quoted previously. I was prepared to leave my car while I was at work, but the guy told me it would take 20 minutes to fix. I was in and out with no problems, and made it to work by 9:00 am! I am so unbelievably happy that this place was recommended to me, and I will be sure to recommend it to anybody else that needs work done on their car. Thank you for your great service! As a "helpless" senior, all I knew was that the muffler on my 95 Honda Civic had to be "broken" because it was LOUD. Since I didn't want to rely on my children to find a repair shop, I asked a friend and he recommended Marvin. Because of health problems, I didn't want to wait too long for my car to be looked at and hopefully get fixed. When I called, I was reassured that they will look at it promptly, and inform me of the needed repair. What else can I say... the absolute BEST car repair experience I ever had!! Highly efficient and super energetic Mr. Marvin, had my muffler looked at, fixed, and ready to go back home in a quiet car, in less than an hour! From the outside it doesn't look like much but the mechanics are quality knowledgeable and if there is something the can't do they will send you to someone who can. The prices are more than reasonable and they treat each person with the respect deserved, taking time to answer any questions. The receptionist is funny and out going down to earth. A neighbor recommended Marvin's when I explained that my regular shop of 27 years wanted $300 to repair a loose pipe. (New ownership for the shop, and I'm not going back) Marvin did a quick weld on the hanger, for less that 10% of that. Absolutely thrilled to find honesty, integrity, and talent in a shop. Hands down the best. After going to the typical franchise muffler place and was given an estimate that exceeded $1700, you heard it right, Marvin and his crew did the same work for $275. Unreal. Wow, I don't write many positive reviews, but feel obligated to tell everyone how Marvin and Tracey (sp?) couldn't have been anymore helpful considering the situation my brother, SIL, wife and I encountered. One of my brother's RV bearings seized up and started smoking making the RV virtually useless to drive. To make matters worse, when pulling off of the highway to assess damages, we picked up a huge staple in tire unrelated to the bearing tire. Long story, short, the nearest exit lead us directly to Marvin's Muffler Works. Marvin didn't have the necessary parts to fix the bearing (Perfectly understandable because they are muffler specialist). After asking Tracey for assistance (Works there I believe), he immediately referred us to Marvin for answers. Marvin immediately dropped what he was doing, called a friend that works at Dave's RV and Trailers on Crane Highway and gave us specific directions on how to get there and explained to them our situation. He said, "No problem, I know what it's like to be broken down in an RV because it's happened to me before and I'm more than happy to help". How cool and unusual are people like Marvin & Tracey to stumble upon these days? The world would be a better place with people like them! In closing......Dave's RV and Trailers couldn't have been any nicer and helpful as well! As a matter of fact, they dropped what they were doing (Always busy as hell from what we witnessed), fit our repair into their busy schedule, worked on the RV during sporadic periods of rain and had us repaired and on the road within a few hours. I was having trouble with the muffler of my 2000 Nissan. It turns out my entire muffler/ exhaust system were rusted to non-existence and they replaced the whole thing same day for a great price. I don't usually give reviews, but felt the need to review this place. I had purchased mufflers for my car. They came with some really nice clamps. I read the reviews and felt they would hold up. Well the clamps did not hold up to the the Baltimore 3rd world streets. One of the mufflers fell off twice on highways. Seriously dangerous. I saw Marvin's on the Yelp app. Went there first thing in the morning. He took me right in and immediately welded and realigned the mufflers.He did a first class job. Price was ridiculously cheap. I was expecting to pay much more after reading what people paid on a couple forums. It is nice to know there a people like that left in this world. Don't let the name fool you. These guys can do pretty much anything automobile related. I have been going to Marvin's for for 5 years now. I have had everything from Exhaust system to Rack and Pinion Repair with great results. They have instilled a sense of trust in me me that you can't get everywhere. Going to get my oil changed ($10 if you bring your own stuff) this weekend and a tire rotation. I drive 11 miles past all the chains and dealerships to see these guys. This place has been around forever.. And why is that you ask? It is because of the FAIR and AMAZING service you receive when you come here. I took my Honda Pilot in because my exhaust pipe broke. After pulling it in on the lift and looking at the totally shitty job that MIDAS MUFFLER in ANNAPOLIS had done, I was advised of the best course of action. They gave me the part number for ROCKAUTO.com and told me to get the exhaust kit from them as they were the cheapest around. They then welded up the pipe so it would last until I could get the money together to order the exhaust kit. Only charged me 20 bucks!!!! So i have now ordered the kit and will be driving back up there from the Eastern Shore to have them install it as soon as it arrives. Well worth the 2 1/2 hour drive to get this work done by some awesome people!!!!! oh and by the way, that 20 dollar repair job lasted me for over four months now... read more
