Despite repeated calls, texts, and emails, the company did not properly address the issue. Stanley himself never inspected the roof as he said he would, and his workers did not resolve the problem. I ultimately had to hire another contractor to fully redo the roof. I reported the matter to the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, where he initially agreed to refund me but never followed through. I also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and his BBB accreditation was revoked after he did not cooperate with them. In 2025, I won a Small Claims Court judgment against SRT Roofing. To date, the judgment remains unpaid, with only a partial payment ever made despite the court's decision. Based on my experience, I would strongly caution others before hiring this company. Stanley the owner gave an invoice of $14K for a new roof and gutters, upon completion he stated he was over budget and attempt to extract $4K additional. I met him half way and gave an extra 2k. Several weeks later, after heavy rain storm the gutters were leaking and were pitch incorrectly. I have repeatedly called, texted and mail him with no repairs ever done....to date 18 months later he still lied to respond and fix issue. They replaced the roof shingles on my house in the Bronx in January 2019. part of this was removing and reinstalling the gutters. Since then I have had to had the gutters fixed because they were not sloped properly and were overflowing in the center of the house. Worse, I had a leak and they came to "fix it" They installed more sealant but the leak came back. Turns out the plywood underlayment is completely gone - something they should have seen if they replaced the tar paper as per the contract. And since then, radio silence - they do not answer any calls. I am going to sue in small claims court. read more

Right from the get go I appreciated Stan's honesty and character. He was a straight shooter. My husband and I took some time deciding on next steps and actually met with several companies before deciding to move forward with Stan and SRT. We are completely pleased with our selection. We had our asphalt shingle roof replaced and they did an excellent job. Getting major construction done on the house is always stressful as a homeowner but Stan was willing to work with us to get us what we needed. I do wish to believe in the good intentions of Stanley which is why I'm not giving one star. The fact is that they couldn't fix our skylight leaks for months where we suffered from damages to our floors and expensive equipment. It wouldn't be so outrageous if it wasn't for the other roofer that came and fixed the problems in literally five minutes. We also got multiple last minute appointment cancellations from them and waisted a lot of our time on giving them more and more chances. Would not recommend it to anyone. read more

Had an arrangement of repair leaking roof back in 2020 with this company. Paid $3500 for 200-400 sqf installation of new roof to take care of leaking area. The agreement signed up includes 15 years guaranty and free seasonal inspection during warranty. The company is no longer responsive for request of seasonal inspection after first two 2 years. For seasonal inspection request in the past, I have to email back and forth several times to get an appointment scheduled. From late April 2023 though mid May, I have tried emailing several times and couldn't get an appointment to scheduled and this company is on longer replying. I had to climb up to roof recently after a heavy rain to check my roof and found out only 100-200 sft roof was installed two years ago and most aluminum paint have already fade off after two years, however my original roof paint with more than 7 years age was in a better condition. read more

Stanley seemed eager to do a good job, so we hired SRT despite the cost being a bit higher than other quotes. Boy, were we mistaken! I have a partially-finished roofing job that I now need to find another roofer to complete, having paid him 90% of his contract. Things that went sideways: 1. It took multiple attempts (5 or 6?) to get a correct certificate of insurance. Perhaps should have been a red flag, but I figured small businesses may not be the most organized with paperwork. 2. Put down 2 layers of R7 polyiso rigid insulation as we had discussed, but THEN they put 3" metal nails every 6 inches through the supposedly R14 insulation straight to the deck, pretty much nullifying the insulation. Subsequently claimed he wasn't aware we were "trying to get to a specific R value" 3. Yanked out the boiler exhaust vent from the top of the boiler. I only found out because we turned the heat on, the CO sensor went ballistic after the heater running for about 18 hours. Turns out we were putting the boiler exhaust into our living room, 4 feet away from my infant's nursery. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say this could have killed my baby. Now, to be clear, the boiler exhaust vent was secured to the top of the boiler with a stainless steel pressure band, so it would have taken some concerted yanking to get this dislodged. I don't know what other roofers do when they deal with exhaust vents, but seems like at least a heads-up was called for here. 4. Used a length of 2" boiler exhaust vent (PV treated plastic, has a big sticker saying it's a vent for a combustion appliance) to replace a 4" waste line vent and then sealed the roof around it. They took it off the boiler exhaust and just jammed it into the wasteline vent - to add insult to injury, the plastic pipe is cracked so when it rains the water entering the vent goes into the cockloft where I have cellulose insulation (presumably now wet paper). Because they used a length of the Centrotherm exhaust pipe in place of the sewer vent, my boiler intake is also 24-inches closer to the roof than it's supposed to be. 5. Brought a 36"x54" access hatch for a 23"x35" hole (standard size for 24"x36" hatch) and claimed to have measured multiple times. Turns out they measured the OUTSIDE dimensions of the existing hatch, not the actual hole the hatch needs to fit. I'm not a roofer, but that seems unusual - and I can see a bunch of 24"x36" hatches on my neighbors' roofs all the way down the line. Claimed that he couldn't get a refund for the hatch, so I should order the right one myself. The new hatch has not been installed. 6. Brought a vented skylight rather than unvented skylight per discussion (and description in contract). 7. Massive ponding post-installation. It's approximately 2' by 4'. I don't have before-and-after photos, but quite possible it's worse than ponding on the old roof 8. No collars on any of the roof penetrations - we have 3 waste line vents, 1 vent for bathroom exhaust ventilation, and 2 vents (intake and exhaust) for the boiler. None of these have collars on them. 9. Did not read manufacturer instructions on the Energy Star high-albedo elestomeric coating and was about to apply the coating on the same day as the roof installation. Just in case, I went and read the instructions and it clearly says new asphalt roofs need a 30-day cure period before coating. Roof has not been coated because they never came back to do it. Given the other items above this one seems almost benign. 10. He knew from the start that we were coordinating the roof replacement with installation of rooftop solar. I set an install date with the solar company, and he called them directly to try to change the date, while telling me that the solar company was reconsidering the install date. I called the solar company, who of course told me that the roofer requested that they change the date. He didn't respond to our request that he confirm whether he was available on the date of the solar install, and in fact did not show up. Solar people managed to do the install without pitch pockets. As of this writing (30 days after install date), I have a job that needs to be finished by someone else (he "divorced" us by text message) and a meaningless 25-year labor and materials warranty (because SRT is never coming back). And a lot of emotions, particularly about what could have happened if the CO detectors hadn't gone off. read more

I wasn't able to stay for the job to get finished but he sent me several photos to show me how things were going and then again upon completion.
